Fireworks to Dreamweaver to insert addtional items

I have created a website in Fireworks and exported and inserted it into Dreamweaver to add the contact form and a flash video.  My problem is that when I do this when I go to view in browser the form and video are in different spots.  How do i get these items to stay where I want them.  What is the best way to bring this information into dreamweaver from Fireworks...Export as HTML and Insert, copy and paste the code?

Okay. Without taking the time to really look at your code (so this is a big caveat), it looks like you are setting the position of your video and form absolutely with respect to the viewport-to the browser window. I have a widescreen monitor. If I do not have the browser window full screen, but I move the right or left side of my browser window, then the form or video stay in a constant position relative to the left side of the browser window, while the page itself will add or remove gutters (black background area) to either side to keep it centered in the browser window.
Hmm...yeah...it's probably the absolute positioning on the div apDiv1. What you want, instead, is to create a box (defined by a div) on your page, and then place your form or your video inside the box.
Try going through this tutorial: I think it's very good:
http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/design-and-code-your-first-website-i n-easy-to-understand-steps/
Fireworks is a graphics program, not an HTML authoring tool. The code it produces is good for prototypes, but isn't really up to snuff for live sites. You really need to tweak it to get something robust, and by the time you've sorted out what's what, it's usually faster to have built up from scratch in Dreamweaver (which is a powerful HTML authoring tool).

  • Best Strategy for Exporting Fireworks into Dreamweaver

I created a navigation bar in Fireworks and now I want to export it into Dreamweaver.
So I Went to Edit->Copy HTML Code (hotkey for this is Ctrl+Alt+C)
Now, what's the "best choice" from the dialog choices: AIR HTML, Dreamweaver HTML, Generic HTML, GoLive HTML, AIR XHTML, Dreamweaver XHTML, Generic XHTML or GoLive XHTML for a cross browser "professional" website?
I only tried the "Dreamweaver HTML Option" and itseemed to work nicely in my rookie opinion.
I think this technique might be at a performance cost to my graphic design or the website speed. So should I use a different strategy for exporting Fireworks to Dreamweaver?  I have the CS5 package so can use any of those programs for support.
    Thanks,

INHO, the best way to export from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is to first define your site in Dreamweaver, and then export the Fireworks document to the assets folder. Place your cursor when you want the navbar to be on your HTML page and choose Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML.

  • Why does DW disable insert menu items?

This must be a configuration option someplace, but in general, why would DW disable Insert menu items?
I am in .cfm file, in clearly an unlocked area of a page where I should be allowed to insert hyper links, email links, horizontal rules, images, tables.  But on the Insert menu, each of those items is disabled (and others, but you get the point).  Since the insert menu items are disabled, the keystroke shortcuts for those actions don't function.
I can manually type in these tags, and I can insert them from the Insert window.
I start a brand new .cfm page, and the insert menu is fine.
It appears DW is examining the code and deciding [INCORRECTLY] what is appropriate to insert via the menu.
    Thanks for any insight provided.

That's plain HTML, not PHP, and DW doesn't do that - really.

    DW's javascript solves that problem.

    Leave DW's code alone.

It is not the problem, most likely - but tell us what the

  • How to insert more items for each tab in WAD  7.0

    Hello to everyone,
My problem is confined to the WAD 7.0
I would like to insert 4 different queries into a new Web Template.
Two of them have to stay in one page and the others in one page each; therefore, the result would be a Web Template with three tabs.
Unfortunately the system creates automatically four different tabs with one query each.
Anybody knows how to insert more items in one page/tab?
    Thank you very much
    Savino Pompa

    Hi Savino
In the WAD bring up the properites of the tabstrip_container web item, under the Internal Display group in the Tab Panel List, create 3 tabs, then drag 3 contatiner_layout web items into the tab web item.
In each conatiner item drag the analysis web item, 2 in the first container, then 1 each for the others, then point each analysis web item at a dataprovider(query).
Setup the contatiners so that the analysis items displays, to do this in the container properties create a row then on the following screen a column and then set the Subordinate web item to the analysis item, these web items control layout and are useful for dealing with multiple web items, for the first tab with 2 queries you will need to play with the layout, either 1 row 2 column or 2 row 1 column.
For each tab you created add the corresponding contatiner as the Subordinate Web Item in the Tab Panel parameters for each tab.
    Hope this helps
    Josh

Unfortunately, this is not a web page.  It is a design comp exported from Fireworks.  This code is not good enough for use on real web sites.
You need to de-construct your design comp images in Fireworks.  Optimize and save images only to your DW Local Site Folder.  Then re-assemble everything inside a pre-built CSS Layout in DW.

  • Problem encountered in inserting tree items

    Hello All.
I am encountering problem in inserting tree items in a parent child recurring manner. My requirement is that everytime i presses the button, one parent should be inserted in the tree along with its child. Its output should be just like
    Fault Code: 7400
    Fault Code: 7400
    Fault Code: 7401
    Fault Code: 7401
    and so on.
I am not getting the desired output. What should be way of doing this. Please find the attached project too.
    Regards.

I have no CVI on this machine to run your project, but in a fast look at the code I noticed that you are always using 0 as the item index. You mustr save the index of the parent item and use it for the childs instead:
      idx = InsertTreeItem (panelHandle, PANEL_TREE, VAL_SIBLING, 0,     VAL_LAST,temp_buffer, "",0, -1);
      InsertTreeItem (panelHandle, PANEL_TREE, VAL_CHILD, idx,         VAL_LAST,temp_buffer, "",0, -1);
but I don't understand what the child means: the code above will produce the following output ( + here mimics the tree symbols):
    Fault code: 7400
     + Fault code: 7400
    Fault code: 7401
     + Fault code: 7401
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • I know this sounds ridiculous, but do you have to have Fireworks and Dreamweaver to create a website?

Many years ago, I had a copy of fireworks and dreamweaver.  It seemed like I only worked with fireworks and created websites, links etc.  Do you have to have both and somehow they work in tandem?

My suggestion would be to forget about Fireworks, because the application's development was stopped in May 2013, and no updates are coming its way either. It is dead software, unfortunately. It is already experiencing compatibility problems on the latest Mac OS, for example, and it is only going to get worse.
To create a simple website, you have two choices: you either learn basic html and css code (as Mylenium suggested), or you use a visual editor.
I have a feeling you veer towards the visual editor solution, so here are some options:
    - http://www.kompozer.net/
    - Web Design Software by Xara: Xara Web Designer
    - Adobe Muse
... or install WordPress through your host (most web hosts offer a one-click install option), choose a nice template from the tens of thousands available online, and start adding content.

  • Insert menu item behaviour

I recently contacted NI support about a -bug report regarding the documentation of the function "Insert menu item".
It declares int he help that the values for "Item Name" is the string which appears in the menu and "Item Tag" is the unique Identifier for the menu item.  If only Tag is wired, the names are created automatically otherwise they take the values input on the terminal "Item Names".
I was a bit surprised when a bit of my code behaved differently than I had expected.  Apparently an empty string for "Item Name" is NOT created, even if I provide a perfectly valid "Item Tag".
I think this kind of thing needs to be mentioned in the help.  I don't want the behvaiour changed because it's actually a cool feature for what I'm doing but I can't reconstruct the real behaviour of the node from the help alone......  Nowhere is the difference in handling of an empty string as opposed to a non-empty string even mentioned.
Am I being too pedantic on this?

Say hello to my little friend.
    RFC 2323 FHE-Compliant

    Hello Shane,
Concerning the Empty String Item Name that doesn't get created.
Did you get in touch with an Applications Engineer about that?
Because at my side (in 2014) it does seem to get created.
Or am I misunderstanding the test you are doing?

  • Error Message: "Unable to insert an item."

    Hello!
We have couple of programmers working together. One nice day, after getting another version from co-programmer, I am getting constantly error message "Unable to insert an item." The error will come ALWAYS after RUNNING the project. As long as I will not RUN (or not DEBUG) the project, all is fine and I can do everything. But after running the project almost every action I'm going to do ends with error "Unable to insert ...". Has anybody before seen such a error? Any suggestions?
    With best regards,
    Raul

    Raul --
This was a known bug in JDeveloper 3.1. It has been fixed for JDeveloper 3.2. In the meantime, some suggested work arounds are:
    1. Reinstall JDeveloper (problem apparently is likely to reappear after a while).
    2. Rebuild your workspace, and re-add the projects to it.
    3. Compile individual files rather than the entire project at once.

  • Fireworks and dreamweaver issue. How they work seamlessly?

Hi, I am new to these programs.
I am trying to make a website using fireworks and
dreamweaver. I've made my navigation area and headline in fireworks
(simple navigation on left side and header on top). When I export
this to dreamweaver, I am unable to make text etc in the blank area
(main body content area) because as soon as I start typing,
dreamweaver moves my navigation around because I think it is
somehow linked to the main body area?
I think I am missing a crucial step in this process.
How do I use fireworks and dreamweaver seamlessly to allow me
to edit body content of my pages, and not have it change anything
    on my navigation area?

    Hi
    ...sorry folks Im a newbie,
I use mx2004 I am helping a charity re-do their website and keep the current one up to date.
I started to insert library items into the existing site pages ( which are all table based ) some of the pages seem to be fine
but other ones are showing a blank page when i preview them .
Firefox is the only browser that it seems to be ok in, IE Opera Safari and chrome are showing nothing
except IE which shows thr background colour
Ive got a gut feeling Ive inserted the LBI in the wrong place or something
