Exporting Report Output to Doc, RTF or other

I have designed a few reports using Developer 2000 and I was wondering if if was possible to export the output of these reports to other file formats such as Word's Doc or RTF formats .... while the tool is powerfull it would be nice to let people use a friendly tool once in a while, or maybe email the output to a colleage ... is this possible and if so how do I go about it ?

If your report is a plain text report, you can definitely redirect the output of the report to doc or rtf. Just set the system parameter MODE to 'character' and then run the report with 'Destination Type = File' and 'Destination Name=<filename>.doc/.rtf'. Then open the output file using MS-word/wordpad. Hope this works....

  • Report Output In DOC or RTF

    Hello All,
Is it possible to generate a report in Doc / (RTF)(Document) format, if so can you please help me.
    Regards
    Melvin

    Hi Melvin,
You can use desformat=rtf in the command line to get an RTF output. To quote from documentation (Publishing Reports - Appendix A) available at
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/content.html
"RTF Rich Text Format. This report output is sent to a file that can be read by word processors (such as MicrosoftWord). When you open the file in MS Word, you must choose View > Page Layout to view all the graphics and objects in your report."

  • How to export report output into excel file

    hi friends,
i would like to get the solution from you for how to export the report output into a .xls file. i know how to convert it into .rtf and .txt files but i think it's difficult to do this .xls way, could you help me to comeover this problem?
    thankyou very much.

The official answer is "delimited", which
generates adequate comma or other delimited
text. No formatting, and without extra
effort no support for non-ASCII characters.
    Might be sufficient for you.
Note that Excel can read html files - we
built programs to generate html files with
name of "blah.xls" and some Excel-ish
extensions, so Excel is automatically opened
and the document is all nice and pretty.
(Oracle html output has some odd logic about
choosing number of columns, we didn't use
    it.)

  • Export report output to PDF automatically/silently.

    Hello,
We want to export silently a crystal report output (version XI R2) to pdf format.
We currently invoke crystal reports from our Oracle Webforms (10g) and the output is then shown via an url with the viewrpt.cwr program. This works perfect.
But as already mentioned we we want to omit the user interaction for a couple of reports.
Is there a command line version of viewrpt.cwr so that we can print a report to a specific path and file name (the path and name will be programmatically derived)?
Or maybe on the otherhand can someone give me some clues where to start. I get a feeling i need to program something myself in .Net or Java to get this working, i hope not i would thimk that these things are out of the box functionality.
    Thank you

    Hi Aasavari Bhave
Yes, i know this option. But it did not work for me...

Problem was that the browser was launched showing an Adobe Reader informational messagebox with the text File does not begin with '%PDF-'.
But anyway, even if i get this working i still have an issue, the functionality i want is that it is exported silently. We do not want to launch 50 or more url's with invoices when the user is closing a financial period.

  • Export report output from WAD to Workbok

    Hi Friends,
I have a very strange requirement, we have our reports on WAD, but some user community in some country they want all this Output to be exported to a work book. I know we can export to an excel sheet, but exporting to a work book im not sure, never done that before.
Can someone please tell me if you have done this before, if yes please tell me how did you do.
Also what will be the disadvantages if we take this approch.
    Regards
    BN

    Hello,
It would be very difficult to achieve and I believe it might be even next to impossible.
I agree with your requirements. So you can have the web reports as is and keep them running.
But for the specific user community create workbooks for the needed queries and publish them in a role which is assigned to this user community.
So the users have options now, if they want to run web reports they can but then if they want to have something done in workbook they can do that by running the workbook.

  • URGENT HELP:Reports Output in RTF Format

    Hi,
I have a problem with Oracle Reports 3.0
I am generating a report output to a RTF file.
The report is output in landscape orientation in Reports Runtime
    window.
But when I open the RTF document, the output is in
Portrait orientation and some of the information is getting out
of the view. If I manually change the orientation in the RTF
Page Setup, I am able to view the output properly.
Can this be automated by using some property/setup in Oracle
    Reports 3.0?
Also, the BMPs are not visible in the RTF file.
Can anyone help me on these issues?

    Hi Aravind,
I don’t think there is any help in HTMLDB for this. There is this technical note: http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/notes/technote_htmldb_fop.html I don’t really like this approach.
You should consider using XML Publisher. It’s a “new” Oracle product that is easy to use and really works! Actually it’s an Oracle Application product that is now standalone. It’s much faster to use than making the xslt manually. You can make the templates in Word. We have a project where we don’t make any templates. The customers make their own on each site.
There of cause is a licensing issue. Depending on you setup it can be expensive.
    Check:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/applications/publishing/index.html
    BI Publisher
You can download it from Oracle eDelivery:
    http://edelivery.oracle.com/EPD/Download/get_form?egroup_part_number=B23145-01
Product Pack Oracle Application Server Products
Platform: Any (e.g. Window 32 Bit)
The part number is B23145-01: "Oracle® XML Publisher CD/Media Pack".
This includes the client and server side code + documentation and sample templates and applications.

  • Reports output delayed when exported to Excel using OLE2

    Hi All,
Platform - Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 10.1.2.3 on Windows 32 bit.
The report output is getting generated in a minute when exported to PDF i.e destype=cache & desformat=pdf. When we generate the output to excel is considerably delayed. It is taking time and internal server error is occuring.
    1) Report developed with simple query
    2) Used RPT2XLS procedure which uses OLE2 builtin to export report output into excel.
    3) Called RPT2XLS.run procedure in After-Report trigger of the report.
    4) We have relased all memory objects in the RPT2XLS package after exporting data and there is no EXCEL.exe running once the file is generated.
System parameters used in the URL.
    . destype=file
    desformat=pdf
CONTAINSOLE=yes (Required for exporting OLE2 objects into Excel in report)
desname=path & name of the file.
I have gone through the tuning documents for reports server and increased minengine, maxengine and initengine parameters of the reports engine and also changed maxconnect and IdleTimeout parameters in reports server configuration file.
What might be the reason for delaying in the output of the reports when exported to Excel. Can the guys with special knowledge on this area help us in getting out of this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    hey all,
    Thanks everyone for the reply.
I am using the foloowing field cat:
    l_col_pos = l_col_pos + 1.
        wa_fieldcat-col_pos = l_col_pos.
        wa_fieldcat-outputlen = 32.
         wa_fieldcat-fieldname = 'SOLLWERT'.
         wa_fieldcat-inttype   = 'P'.
    *    wa_fieldcat-tabname = 'i_final'.
        wa_fieldcat-seltext_l = text-t11.         "Target Value
        APPEND wa_fieldcat TO i_fieldcat.
        CLEAR wa_fieldcat.
I have use this also in the field cat but stil i get space in the excel header.
    wa_fieldcat-REF_FIELDNAME = 'SOLLWERT'.
    *    wa_fieldcat-REF_TABNAME =  'QAMV'.
Also the space comes with the descrip[tion in the cell of excel.
its like [space Target Value] and i dont need this Space.
I have also used  wa_layout-colwidth_optimize = 'X'. but it doesnt wrk.

  • Report output in XML format

Is it possible to save (or export) report output in XML format, it is ok with either WebI or DeskI report, here we are concerned about output format not what type of report we can use to produce the output in XML format.
    Thank you,
    Srini

    Hi Srinivas,
Only options available in WEBI or DESKI is to save documents in Excel or PDF format.
As a workaround you can use Excel as an intermediate between your WEBI or DESKI document to XML format.
When you try to save WEBI document in XML Data format you may get following Error because the Excel sheet does not contain any XML format that requires.
u201CCan Not save XML data because the workbook does not contain any XML mappingsu201D
    Solution:
    1. Excel cannot save all or part of your workbook as XML Data if you have not created one or more mapped ranges.
    2. If you haven't added an XML map to your workbook, or your data is not contained within an XML list, then you can save your workbook in the XML Spreadsheet file format.
If you have added an XML map to your workbook, follow these steps to map XML elements to your worksheet:
    1. On the Data menu, point to XML, and then click XML Source to open the XML Source task pane.
    2. To map one or more elements to your worksheet, select the elements in the XML Source task pane. To select nonadjacent elements, click one element, and then hold down CTRL and click each element.
    3. Drag the selected elements to the worksheet location where you want them to appear.
I Hope this helps to find  the path of solution with Ease.
    Thanks...

  • Webi Report Output using dynamic Filter

Suppose my report output contains doc. number & document date which shows data of one year which filter is applied on global level means at query filters level.
Now I want to show output of only last 3 months from current date(report run date) on the basis of document date.
So how to proceed further in such scenario.
    Please reply ASAP.
    Thanks
    Pradip

You can filter it on the report level or the block level. Highlight either one and then add the filter (make sure the filter window is open).
    Thanks

  • Regarding Issue when Exporting the Output of the Discoverer Report to Excel

    Hi,
Can Any of you guys help me out in this issue. I am exporting the Discoverer Report Output to Excel sheet, I am able to export but while I am opening the excel sheet I am getting an error saying "UNABLE TO READ FILE".
Please help me out in this Issue, it is so urgent.
    Thanks in Advance..
    Raja.

    Hi,
Is there any way to export the output of scheduled Discoverer Reports to a particular server using Discoverer plus.Only by openning and exporting each report manually.
is there any way to get the output name in a particular syntax. I want to concatenate date in the output name.Only by entering the filename when you do the export.
The best way to do this is to use Discoverer Desktop and a third party scheduler. Then you can export all your reports automatically and define the filename used in the output. Search this forum for more information on third party schedulers.

    Hi Experts,
I have a Bex Query. After running the report when I export the report in CSV format using "Export to CSV" from the report output screen, the data

    Hi,
(If anything else on the BW side doesn't help).
Not so long ago I had a similiar problem all data (originally taken from several columns) were in one column - solved it with the help of VB coding.
Sth like this could help you.
