Exporting TOC to .txt/.doc

One of my clients is asking for a version of our help's TOC in a .txt format. Is there a way to do this in RH9? I haven't been able to find anything that explicitly says how to do this.

Yes there is. Use the Tools > Reports > Table of Contents menu item. The report has various options but you can probably leave most of them alone. The chances are your client only wants the Summary report so select that option in the Report drop down. When the report has been generated, use the Save As button to save the report as a .TXT file.

  • Many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) in CR Xi

    Hi,
    I have listed many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) function of CR Xi.
    These problems are related to this export format only (meaning everything works fine in the Viewer or in the 'Export to PDF')...
    - Multi-columns layout do not export as Multi-column (export only a one column);
    - Numeric values with parenthesis for negative values or with a fix currency sign at the leftmost position are not exported correctly;
    - Fields having a Suppress formula which is "WhilePrintingRecords" do not appears when exported;
    - Fields with 'Suppress double value' checked are not always suppressed when exported to Text.
    - 'Keep Group Together' flag is not working.
    - 'Reset Page Number After' simply does not works when exported to text;
    - 'Keep object together' on TextBox/Section is not working.
    - Whenever a group is ending on the last line of a page, the the following page as the same Group header as the previous group with no records until the page is filled, then the PageBreak and PageHeader is missing but the records of the following group appears.
    I would like to know what is the status of the 'Export to Text' function (is it a deprecated function not supported anymore???).
    If still supported, when will these bugs be fixed???
    Thanks

    Hi Rene
    Export to Text is supported till date. Crystal Reports 2008 also supports this with Keep together working however when I tried with format with multiple columns, it didnot show up in the exported text file.

  • What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder via a scheduled job?

    What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder, when the export process is a scheduled job?

    You can't directly, as scheduled jobs can only export to server-side data stores, which can only write to the landing area. You'll need to use an external script (e.g. batch file) to move the file from the landingarea after export. You can use an external task in the scheduled job to invoke the script.

  • .pdf to .txt, .doc and .html

    Hi,
    I want to convert .pdf to .txt, .doc and .html. Any suggestions?
    WASIF

    For a PDF reader I did hear well from PDFBox, and less well from others.
    The problem with PDF is, that parts in the PDF are compressed with several methods and even with a minor encryption. The result is, that many versions of PDFs may exist.
    For Writing .doc I would defer to RTF (you can still name it .doc).
    There an Internet search will suffice.
    You might peek in src.zip javax/swing/text: Swing has its own minimal support for HTML and RTF.

  • Adding aiff. AND txt doc to the CD at the same time?

    Hello,
    I am trying to submit a piece of mine to a competition. They require that I put a text document on the CD with the aiff. If I burn the CD, I can't rewrite on it (so I can't get the txt. doc on it). If I put the text document on first, then it will not be a 'blank CD.' This seems like such a simple task. I want to use WaveBurner Because I have used it before and I know that my audio quality will be as good as it gets. What do I have to do to get both the txt. doc and the aiff on the CD?
    Thanks

    I will just make a Burn Folder.

  • Export file (rtf and doc) has a cut off field

    Hi,
    I am using CR10/VB6/Oracle10.2
    CrystalViewer shows the report preview fine then click the envelope icon to export file
    (rtf or doc).
    When I open the exported file (.rtf or .doc), there are some fields in the file is cut off .
    Half of line of record is cut off horizontally.
    This problem does not happen always. I don't know it depends on the record or not.
    Does anyone have a same problem?
    Thank you

    Hi Sachiko
    CR X is not tested with Oracle 10.2. This issue may occur since some of the dlls may not be supported. Hence you can try out the following:
    1. Apply the latest Service Pack and check if you get the same issue.
    2. Try using another Viewer and check if the issue still persists
    3. Try upgrading CR X to CR XI R2 since CR XI R2 is tested with Oracle 10.2

  • Trouble with format of files exported from pages as .doc - when opened on a pc they have extra spaces and pages breaks inserted after each line?  Can be manually deleted, but defeats sharing purpose. advice?

    Hi all, I have trouble with the format of files exported by email as .doc from pages - when opened in MS word on a PC or other device, they have extra spaces and pages inserted after each line - can be deleted manually, but defeats sharing purpose.  Any advice?  Not the most sophisticated user.

    Got it. I tried booting with MOD_AUTOLOAD set to yes, and it was working fine. Looks like I needed to specify some more modules in my list.

  • Reading lines from txt doc

    so here is the deal, i have this txt doc that my program is reading from useing he readline() method, now the deal is through that when i print the lines that match i get something that looks like this;
    2 Jeffery Johnson A001 06/14/1978 08/01/2006 402-486-5104 Lincoln NE 68588 1400
    but i want it to look like this
    2
    Jeffery Johnson
    A001
    06/14/1978
    08/01/2006
    402-486-5104
    lincoln
    ne
    68588
    1400
    so i dont know how to format the macthing lines to do this.
    thanks

    Try this for example:
    String [] newText = "Jeffery Johnson A001 06/14/1978 08/01/2006 402-486-5104 Lincoln NE 68588 1400".split (" ");To see what the String array consists off, try this:
        for (int i = 0; i < newText.length; i++)
            System.out.println ("newText[" + i + "] has a value of " + newText);
    }Once you understand how it's working, you will then be able to format your original text in whatever way you want.
    As for the split() method, maybe the use of *split ("\s")* would be better than *split (" ")*. The smarties will know that one better than me.

  • 'Unknown Error' while exporting a document as '.DOC'

    I'm using Pages '09 on a Mac Mini running OS-X Lion.  I have a 66-page document, originally a .DOC file which I modified and am trying to convert back to a .DOC file.  When I try to convert it I get a warning dialog which says: 'An Unknown Error Occurred'.
    I searched these pages and found that a number of people reported this and managed to fix it by solving some sort of problem with fonts, but I could not understand what people said they did to fix it.  So I made a duplicate of my document,  removed the last 30 pages, tried to export, got the error.  Removed the last 15 pages, etc. until I found the page which was causing the problem.
    Doing this I found two problem pages.  The first one had a style called 'Body Bullets' which was using Helvetica 10 point.  I changed it to Arial 10 point, but it did not solve the problem.  So I deleted the style and used a built-in style called 'Bullet' which I redefined to use Arial 11 point.  That worked.
    The next problem page had a small section in Arial 10-point.  I changed it to use 'Body' style (which I had defined earlier to use Arial 11-point) and now the whole document can be successfully converted to .DOC without errors.
    My question is can this be fixed or do I have to avoid using Helvetica/Arial 10-point fonts in my document?
    Thanks.
    Martin Barker.

    Hi
    Here I have no problem with these fonts :
    For Doing this I found two problem pages I used Helvetica 10.
    For The next problem page had I used Arial 10.
    I was able to export without any kind of problem.
    It would be a good idea to scan your fonts with FontBook.
    Some may be corrupted or some may be conflicting.

  • Missing data when exporting to "MS Word (*.doc)" and "RTF (*.rtf)"

    Hello,
    We are using CR XI R2 SP3 in our product.  The reports that we generate (using ODBC dsn) show URLs from the database as hyper link text fields.  When we export the report to "Microsoft Word (.doc)" or "Rich Text Format (.rtf)" format, even though the export operation succeeds, the report is missing data when it encounters a URL that looks like following.  There is basically no data after that URL.
    http://www.xyz.com/kType=t;s.linkName=n;s.t()};s.ssl=(s.wd.location.protocol.toLowerCa
    And when it encounters a URL like following, MS Word complains that the file is invalid even though the export succeeds.
    https://www.xyz.com/m));if(m%3E0&m!=e)if(parseInt(c.substring(m+1,e%3C0?c.length:e))%3Cd.get
    If we export the report to pdf format, then everything works just fine.
    Any help on this will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Sumit
    Try to set the URL field with the RTF format. To do this try following:
    1. Right click the field->Format Field.
    2. Click the paragraph tab->Text Interpretation->RTF Text
    Now try to export it.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Gordon,
    I had B1 on a pc that anytime that i clicked on the excel button and save it, the document would open in excel right away.

    The funny thing is that it was opening the file in excel and it was formatted correctly.

  • Exporting to a word doc- what's the point? Why does it not work?

    hello,
    whenever I export and PDF into a word document in order to highlight and make notes, the word document either says "unable to read document" or there are lines through the word document and it's not in a format in which I can highlight and make notes. Did I misunderstand that the whole point of paying and being able to export PDFs into docs was to highlight and make notes?
    Eek! I'm a poor graduate student who needs this $24 for food, not an application feature that doesnt work!
    THanks!
    (my apologies for the misspellings and grammar, I'm typing on a tablet with little time)

    You can highlight, underline, strikethrough and annotate PDFs in many other ways when a PDF is opened with Acrobat.
    Should the PDF's page content be the image output of a scanner you  would need to use Acrobat's OCR. You could then highlight and otherwise annotate the OCR output.
    So, a purchased perpetual license or a purchased subscription for Acrobat XI can provide an almost immediate ROI even with using Acrobat's export feature.
    Do note that the quality of the export is a function of the quality of the PDF (the "under the hood build", what the source of the PDF was, what was used to create the PDF, etc.). A well-formed Tagged PDF (ISO 14289-1 compliant) will provide a pleasing export. A well mastered authoring file from which you've created a PDF will typically provide a PDF that supports adequate export.
    Be well...

  • Help with Export PDF to Word doc

    I subscribed to export PDF. I am signed in. I click on convert to Word doc and it looks like Adobe is doing something. Then I click on view converted files and it keeps taking me to the subscribe page!! I feel like Adobe has just stolen $23 from me!!!!!!

    Hi dou,
    I just checked your account, and it looks like you should be good-to-go. If you're still receiving a message about subscribing, it's likely that you just need to sign in to the service.  From the ExportPDF website, click Sign in at the upper-right corner, and log in to the service with your Adobe ID credentials. Now, when you click ExportPDF, you'll be prompted to select PDF files to export, instead of being asked to subscribe.
    Best,

  • Parsing a txt doc and using the text to put into an arraylist

    so i have a sample doc like this:
    add name hairy; mass 4; species bird
    sort mass
    save myaddresses.txt
    so i would like to have a scanner read the above text and parse for words name, mass and species where it would store the word after it into an arraylist. there is a argument which reads the txt file. i also use a delimited to seperate out the variables.
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Animallog {
    public static void main (String [] args)throws Exception
    Animal a = new Person();
    name = a.getname();
    mass = a.getmass();
    species= a.getspecies();
    ArrayList <Animal> list = new ArrayList<Animal>();
    i=0;
    list.get(i).SetName();
    list.get(i).SetMass();
    list.get(i).SetSpecies();
    i++;
    break;
    File f = new File (args[0]);
    Scanner interactionsinput = new Scanner(f);
    interactionsinput.useDelimiter(";");
    nameinput = interactionsinput.next();
    if (nameinput.equalsIngnoreCase("name"))
    massinput = interactionsinput.next();
    if (massinput = equalsIgnoreCase("mass"))
    speciesinput = interactionsinput.next();
    if (speciesinput.equalsIgnoreCase("species"))
    so here i'm totally lost i'm surpose to parse this sample and put the data into the arraylist and a set of information for a single animal.
    }

    :o]
    Indeed, and it is important to notice the "like me" he added to it. If he had said Java to be too hard for newbies, there'd be enough proof that it isn't, because then there'd be no experts.

  • Exporting Report Output to Doc, RTF or other

    I have designed a few reports using Developer 2000 and I was wondering if if was possible to export the output of these reports to other file formats such as Word's Doc or RTF formats .... while the tool is powerfull it would be nice to let people use a friendly tool once in a while, or maybe email the output to a colleage ... is this possible and if so how do I go about it ?

    If your report is a plain text report, you can definitely redirect the output of the report to doc or rtf. Just set the system parameter MODE to 'character' and then run the report with 'Destination Type = File' and 'Destination Name=<filename>.doc/.rtf'. Then open the output file using MS-word/wordpad. Hope this works....
