Express Card 34 and Windows....

I just installed VMWare Fusion onto my new 17" and installed Windows 7 64 bit. I did that specifically so I could run a PC only piece of hardware and software. It's a TV Tuner Express Card and software that lets you watch TV on your laptop.
The software works ok but for some reason it can't see the Express Card! This is insane! I just spend over $200 on these cards to do this and now I'm finding out it doesn't work? Or does it? I'm not a Windows guy so am I forgetting to configure something? If it won't work with Fusion will it work using Bootcamp?

Probably. (I haven't tried) That's a Windows driver question.
I do use the Wireless G Plus Notebook Card (F5D7011) on my Powerbook. Belkin only provides Windows drivers. But since it look like an Airport Extreme card, using the same chipset (according to these forums), Mac OS X run supports it and the Internet Connect applet calls it Airport. The PCMCIA menu item lists it as a Broadcom card.

You have to install the rest of the software(s) for the sound card. The software is (if it is with the installation CD, though) called "Creative Smart Recorder" or something like that.

Express cards and 2008/2009 MacBook Pro

Just curious to know if anybody here is using an eSata or any other express cards and do not have any problems at all with it. I understand express cards do not work well on these notebooks.

On the early 2008 MBP I had I used for 2.5 years and used some kind of card in the ExpressCard slot the whole time. Never a problem.
I used an eSATA 2 port controller for a few months as well, I had an Wintec 48GB SSD ExpressCard. I had a couple of problems with the SSD until a firmware update from Wintec resolved issue.
Some of the commentary you may be thinking about related to this is the speed of the eSATA bus being stepped down to 1.5MB vs it's capable 3.0. It's a topic of technical debate perhaps but has nothing to do with the actual reliability and usefulness of the ExpressCard feature. Actually I sure wish the current model 15" MBP still had ExpressCard.

Oracle Express Edition And Windows Encrypted File System (EFS)

I want to use oracle express edition with windows encrypted file system. I tried some possibilities like encrypting xe folder. But connection can not be established when efs is used. Is there a compatibility problem between oracle xe and windows efs? On Oracle's page, it is declared that oracle database is compatible with Windows EFS.

Pl identify which version of Win 7 - 32-bit or 64-bit ? Home version or something else ?
The 11g XE install is only available for 32-bit version of Win 7 Professional or higher - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABHICJH. If you are installing on 64-bit version or Home version of Windows, then you are on your own. What is the reason for enabling EFS on this database ?

hello, i own Lenovo G570 with spec:

15'4 inch monitor
Switchable Graphic between
-Intel HD Graphics 3000
-ATI Radeon HD 6370M Series (1GB memory)
The problem is that as I see, my graphic card is not supported under windows 8 x64 .
Can someone give me more update about my graphic card and compactibility with Win 8?

AMD 8750M Video Card and Windows 10

Is Windows 10 really not compatible with the AMD 8750M Video Card and the version 12.151.1.9002 (1/21/2004) driver? Or does AMD need to issue a driver update? Thank you

Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook Express Card and Wireless Recei

I?purchased a Creative Wireless Recei'ver and a Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook Express Card. At the risk of removing any doubt that I am an idiot, what is the purpose of the square piece of stretchy black material? It was nicely packaged, but I don't know what I'm to do with it. It's about 4 inches square and stretchy, like spandex. I sent an email to Customer Service. They have no clue and advised me to call Direct Sales. They don't know what the purpose of the cloth is either. Any ideas?

Ok guys this is how I fixed the problem on my X-Fi PCI-Express. Open the Creative SB X-Fi Volume panel. Mine is set in game mode and I have 5 vertical sliders for Line-In /Mic, MIDI Synth, Digital-In, and the last one will say one of three things either Digital-In, Microphone, or Mirophone FP. At the top of the?slider there is a tab which brings up a drop down menu. Mine was default set to Digital-In, I switched it to Mirophone FP (tried Microphone first and it worked but the FP sounds better for me) and cranked it all the way up and my problem was solved. Very frustrating one though as there is no documentation that led me to the fix it was just playing around with it till I could figure it out.
I hope this at least helps some of you out.

Dx 9 cards and windows xp sp2

I recently built an athlon64 system and was having problems getting windows to boot into normal mode (safe mode worked)...i narrowed the problem down to my agp card.....thanks to some people in the forum i slipstreamed sp2 to my xp cd and windows booted.....so is this a common issue with all dx9 cards and msi neo2's?
Did anyone with a neo2 have problems booting into windows xp with sp1 installed and a dx9 graphics card?

I think a lot of problems have arisen from pps installing xp, updating to SP1 then installing mobo drivers.
This means oin most cases directx9 hasn't been installed which in turn impacts the installation of the Gart driver(Agp Driver).
Sp2 icludes directx9, therefore either updating to sp2 or installng a s/streamed sp2,prior to mobo drivers ensure correct install 4 Gart Driver.

Sound Blaster External card and Windows

I recently up-graded from W/98SE to XP I have an external sound card Model SB0270, I have the card (USB) plugged directly into the back of my computer. My card was working just fine until I installed XP now my computer doesn't see my sound card. I have uninstalled and reinstall, re booted afterwards, shut down every running program before hand, everything you should and could do but still no sound. I do a diagnostics and it fails every time. I have tried to download software and driver upgrades but that too has failed because my computer says I need to allow pop-up. I have allowed pop up ads as directed, checked my firewall and it will allow junk in but still no up-dates and no sound. Under Control Panel, devices, Sound and Audio Device, hardware, Creative Sound Blaster, Properties, the message there is "this device is working properly" and it says "Use this device (enabled). I don't understand, Is there any help for this card, it is only 3 month old.

Try running DXdiag on the card and see if the card passes the sound tests. Go to Start/Run and type Dxdiag into the run box then click Ok. Go to the sound tab and run the Direct Sound tests. Does it pass them? If so you may want to try to cleansweep and reinstall the Audigy 2 NX after finishing the USB chipset updates. Here is the article that deals with cleansweeping the drivers out.

[T410] discrete gfx - Problem with Video Card and Windows Aero -anyone using 4Gb memory modules?

There's a issue of using 4Gb sticks on T410 currently that results in video output artifacts and aero interface problems when using Lenovo supplied drivers v8.16.11.8825. I think I can call it confirmed (Three people including me face this issue).
Possible workaround is to install modified EliteBook 8440p video driver (read along this thread) comes with a BIG drawback of not being able to change brightness level within Windows 7. To sweeten it a little bit - you can set luminance level at POST screen, when computer boots up.

Encountered strange behavoir of my T410.
I have a T410 with 256Mb of Video Memory and 1440x900 display, a T61 with 128Mb of Video Memory and 1400x1050 dsplay and external monitor HP w2338h with 1920x1080 resolution.
If I connect external monitor to my T410 and launch Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 - image blinks and comes back with Aero disabled. Looking through event logs reveals the lack of memory. Entry information can be found further.
Now If I do the same with my old Thinkpad T61, connect the same monitor using the same cable - I can open as many Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 instances I like (tried 5) and nothing blinks and Aero stays enabled.
Actually I find ridiculous, a notebook with more VRAM cannot archive the same performance as notebooks with less.
Does anyone know what path should I pursue to solve this issue?
UPDATE: Simply running multiple instances of Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 without external monitor causes Aero disabled as well.

This must be buggy drivers, on Lenovo download site is just the one and the only initial driver for T410 graphics card.

Problem with Win 7 x64, WWAN or WiFi card and Windows XP Mode

I have a T500 with switchable graphics (2056-4RU) with a clean install of Windows 7 Pro x64 with the AT&T WWAN card.
With all the Win7 RTM drivers and Access Connections for Win7, I had a problem that the WWAN card (Ericson F3507g, purchased from Lenovo and working flawlessly under Vista 32-bit) would not initialize. Support told me to uninstall the Win 7 versions of the Power Manager Drivers, WWAN card driver and Access Connections and replace them with the Vista counterparts, which restored the functionality of my WWAN card. Based on the speed with which the support tech came up with the suggested fix, I suspect I am not the only one with the disappearing WWAN card problem.
Now I have found that starting the Windows XP Mode virtual machine kills the WiFi functionality (Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN) until I disable and re-enable the WiFi adapter in Device Manager and then restart the system. (I have not problems with XP Mode and with the Win7 drivers / Access Connections opening Windows XP Mode did not cause the problem with the WiFi.) Opening Windows XP Mode causes no problem with the wired network adapter on my system).
Thus it appears that I can have functionality of the WWAN and WiFi adapters with XP Mode using the Released Win 7 versions and functionality of Windows XP Mode together OR I can have WWAN but not WiFi functionality with XP Mode using the Vista drivers that support suggested. However, it seems that I cannot have WWAN, WiFi and XP Mode concurrently.
I reproduced the above XP mode / WWAN problem / WiFi problems on a T500 with Win7 x64 owned by another family member.
Does anyone (particularly anyone from Lenovo) have fix for this?

I have another operator and I finally gave up. apparently it's also no that easy to install the SIM card, if the plastic thing that helps to remove the SIM card is not the right position, it will overlap the SIM Card chip.
can't help for the WIFI. I had the problems too with access connection and decided to remove it. I use Seven's network manager, which does an equally good job.
Since I have the switch to turn off the wireless, I don't really need access connection anyway.
Finally, something that I learns while struggling with the bluetooth driver: the order in which power manager, access connection and the different drivers are installed DOES affect their effectiveness. I forgot the details but I remember 2 things:
always read the TXT file that is available on the driver page on the lenovo web site and install power manager and access connection last.

I have a mac pro 2009 with a Nvidia GT 120 and have windows 7 bootcamped. I am a keen game player and I have to say playing the likes of Aion are not that good.
I was wondering if a ATI Radeon HD 5870 would be any better? It has a display port which would allow me connect my 24" Apple cinema screen. I was wondering if anybody has any opinion on the matter?

Welcome to the forums! When Apple finally brings out the 5870 for sale, it will be the best card for the mac pro. I am also a heavy gamer in windows 7 and can tell you that the 5870 is a much better card compared to the GT120 which is not such a good gaming card..
Even the 4870 is better than the GT120 and like the 5870, you will be able to use the 24 inch LED Cinema display.

Duel video capture cards and Windows 7 MCE

Hello, I'm wondering why WMC will only see (1) video capture card, when (2) are installed?
I have DirecTV with HD STB (2) which do not require tuners, they have HDMI output (or component RGB output), so a capture card is what I'm using to bring video to my computer. WMC works great with (1) card, but won't see a second card installed.
I have searched TGB and found this link:

and have applied the changes recommended, but still it won't work. The article states the problem is NO 2nd PVR is installed and the steps to install it. I've rebooted and still don't have a 2nd instance of a PVR.

What am I missing here, possibly roll back the driver? I installed the current version...

ISA PCII/IIA GPIB Card and Windows XP

Is it possible to get the PCII/PCIIA (488.2) ISA GPIB card to function in Windows XP Pro? Drivers in use are 1.70 but in device manager when add hardware util is used the device gives "error 10 cannot start" even though IO config etc. is manually set to match that of the card.
