Express VI renames channels

Hi,
I am using express VIs to acquire, filter and resample data from 18 analog channels. The channels are all named in the DAQ assistant Express VI. Each time it goes through another Express VI the channel name is changed. By the time I get through all the Express VIs I am using, each channel name is "Filtered (Resampled)" or "Formula Result (Resampled)" which shows up on the legend of my chart. How do I prevent this from happening or how do I change the channel names back? Thanks,

Hey Mark!
So to change the names that are displayed on the Waveform charts you need to change the attribute for that waveform, which is a relatively simple process for which we have fuctions. Under the Functions » Programming » Waveform palette (in LabVIEW 8) there should be a function for Get Waveform Attribute and Set Waveform Attribute. If you have LabVIEW 7.x and below they are on the Functions » Waveform palette. For tthe example below, I got all of the names of the attributes and then set the first value, which is the channel name attribute in my case. I convert my dynamic data type (DDT) into a 1D array of waveforms using the From DDT Express VI and then name each Andy, which you would probably want to make a more meaningful name for your application. My example could easily be adapted for a much larger data set.

Add Parent subscriber and rename channel...

Hi
Just wanted to check what effect the following actions would have on
existing distributions.
a) add in a parent subscriber - guessing that the cerificate of the PS
would need resolving to the existing subscribers, and that the PS would
need to pull the distributions from the distributor - hoping that the
existing subscribers would see that the actual ted is the same and do
nothing...?
b) rename channels - hoping this attribute change isn't seen as a
'configuration change' by the existing subscribers...?
Has anyone real world experience of these actions?

Indeed, the distributor will read the information about the parent
subscriber from e-directory and will send the workorder to the parent
including the routing info. With the routing info the Parent will need where
to forward the distributions. If the subscribers already have the
distributions, nothing will be send

I never done channel re-names, but adding and/or deleting channels shouldn't
have an affect on the distributions

Regular expressions in Rename Wizard Utility

Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to use regular expressions (and it possible) in OBIEE's internal "Rename Wizard" utility. For example, I have the following columns:
% Change Variance ColumnName1
% Change Variance ColumnName2
% Change Variance ColumnName3
and I want them to be
Variance ColumnName1 % Change
Variance ColumnName2 % Change
Variance ColumnName3 % Change
Is there another way to do this except than by hand? Your help is appreciated.

Regular Expressions were first introduced in SQL and PL/SQL as of Oracle Database 10g. What version of the database are you running?

How do I rename channel in VI

Could someone explain to me in a basic way .How to rename the merged channel names in the attched VI.
By default they read Untitled , Untitled_1 , and so on. I want to give them logic names like Coil Temp, Battery Temp etc...

Airport express and stereo channel drop-out

I'm running iTunes on my home stereo system through airport express. I can only get one channel of stereo to play. This does not occur with controls such as playing my stereo components(radio receiver, CD player) outside the network. Is this a common or avoidable problem?

I'm also having problems getting both stereo channels to balance equally when running itunes through my home stereo. However, I'm not using airport express. I have a 1/8 inch cable from the headphone jack of my ibook G4 going to a RCA Y splitter (into the stereo receiver). I have only a faint response in my left stereo channel while most of the signal is in the Right channel. All of my cables are plugged in properly, and everything is fine when I use my stereo components, radio and cd player.
Anyone know why this might be happening? I bought the Y splitter from Radio Shack--it's brand new and doesn't seem to be faulty.

AirPort Express 802.11n channels

I own 2 AirPort Expresses, both the European 802.11n models, both operating in 802.11n-only 5GHz mode. In AirPort Utility, I can select the channel number by holding down the Option key whilst opening the channel menu.
Previously, this would show me a large number of channels (from 36 up into the 100 range) and I have successfully operated my network in these upper channel ranges before. However lately I have noticed that I can no longer select any of these upper channels; only channels 36-48 are available. The AirPorts are set to United Kingdom, as they always have been, but changing the region still doesn't unlock these channels. Toggling the Wide Channels option also does not make any difference.
I am interested to see if there is a way to return the functionality of these channels (as they are permitted for use in the UK) since they often have less interference.

It's possible that a recent firmware update for the AirPort Express has resulted in the channels not being available. If you think that might be a possibility, you could try to roll back to the previous version of firmware.
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click on the word "Version" and any available previous version will be displayed. If you have a "new" AirPort Express, previous versions of firmware may not be available.

How do I change the 5 ghz channel on new Airport Express when extended from Time Capsule?

Hi there. My Airplay device connected to the new Aiport Express keeps cutting out.
The 5ghz connection on my Time Capsule is set to channel 48. I have a new Airport Express (with Airplay device) extending from the Time Capsule and when I use WiFi Scanner, it shows the Airport Express set to channel 157. What gives? Is there a way to change to channel 48 or does this not matter? I imagine since they're on different channels, they're not talking to each other or am I .

I've managed to change the 5gHz of ther Airport Express that's extending the network.
As mentioned, main AE is on channel 48, and I now have the 2nd AE on channel 36 - which means my TV can now see the network. Also tested speed via my mavbook air on the same 5gHz network as it all seems OK (A while ago I spotted my Time Capsule was on the same channel 48 as main AE and throughput was abysmal! Bad enough to make me reset the TC to factory defaults and setup again - which is when the TC got channel 120).
Anyway, the fix... I changed the 2nd AE to create a wireless network (instead of extend), and manually set the channel to 36. I then set it back to extend, and it seems to have kept channel 36.

How to change channel on 5GHz on new (2012) Airport Express when connecting to en excsiting network?

Airport Express only provides channel 100 automatically when configuring it to connect to an excisting wireless network at 5GHz. This is out of range for most routers, which typicaly provieds channels 36 through 48 for connecting 5GHz devices.Only when you configure the Airport Express to establish a new wireless network it allows you to change channels manually. This is really weird. I have severeal Airport Express units (older model) around my house for streaming music, and they work just fine on 2.4 GHz, and so does the new (2012) one, but I bought it specifically to use 5GHz in a corner of my house with interference from surrounding 2.4 GHz networks, so I am really disappointed with this product. There should and must be a way to connect it to an excisting 5GHz network, but how to get the channel right in this cnfiguration mode?

When you extend wireless you cannot switch channels.. The Express is locked to the channel used by the Extreme.. there is no choice about this.
Reboot the extreme .. wait a minute and then reboot the express.. Channels will be tested on reboot to pick the best.. there is nothing much else you can do.

Expression / Volume pedal on channel strips

I need to fade a channel strip in and out using an expression pedal, without affecting the other channel strips on that patch. I'm familiar with assigning the volume pedal at the concert level to control master volume, but this is a function I don't know how to do.
I've tried filtering the expression on the channel strip, but of course that doesn't work, because the pedal is controlling the master volume. Help?

You can assign the volume/expression pedal at the concert, set, or patch level .... depending if you want it doing the same thing at concert level, or to change its function for different patches.
1) learn the pedal in the layout window, so your layout control is visually changing and responding as you move the pedal.
2) in Edit mode, select the patch you want to fix up (concert level, set, or patch .... whichever you want).
3) select the channel strip you want to control.
4) select the volume control you assigned in step 1 on the screen. make sure you can view the inspector(s).
5) in Screen Control Inspector, go to Unmapped, and drill down to the attribute you want to control. If you already have the control mapped, you will need to unmap it first.

Changing the radio channel on Airport Express used to extend an Airport network?

I'm using a Time Capsule as my primary wifi base station and an Airport Express to extend the network. The two devices are connected by WiFi.
My problem is that the 5GHz network of the Airport Express is using channel 100 and the reception just 5 meters away from it is everythign but great. According to Apple WiFI diagnostics I should use on of the low intensity channel like e.g. 36, 40.
My problem is that I dont know how to change the channel. Using Aiport Utilities there is no option to select the radio channe in the options for the wireless network. Is this not possible at all?

What model is the TC?
If you are extending the TC by wireless then the channel must be set on the TC not the Express.
Go to the wireless tab of the airport utility and select wireless options. Channels are there.
But if you have the new AC model the channel will not change for 5ghz.. you will not be able to adjust it even if you change the numbers..
You really should use 2.4ghz for areas where signal is bad.. it is still much better than 5ghz.

Removing quotation marks from channel names

Firstly - I am new to both DIAdem and VB so please forgive my ignorance!
I have a large data set containg many groups with (almost) identical channel names in each group. For reasons not worth going into some of the channel names have quoation marks around them, while others do not.
I am trying to remove the quoation marks to make all channel names consistent throughout the groups, for this I was hoping to loop through the groups renaming channels as appropriate
I think this should work:-

CN(""ChannelName"")="ChannelName"

Where ChannelName is the name I am trying to replace, But I get the following error:- Expected ')'
Can anyone point out where I am going wrong?
(Note - I also tried using triple quotation marks ("""ChannelName"""), but I get this error instead - CN(""ChannelName""):=ChannelName Close bracket ")" expected for field index)
For bonus points - how to I get the loop to skip over any groups where the channel I am referencing already doesn't have quotation marks in it, rather than giving me an error that the channel can't be found?

You are using an old script syntax to manipulate the data. Please find below the current way to replace quotation marks with an underscote:

Airport Express works with every device except base PC

I recently purchased an Airport Express to replace my dead Netgear wireless router. After installing the software on my laptop (which is also new, but worked with the old Netgear router), I was unable to connect to the network. My iPad, our iPhones, and her laptop all connect easily. I've tried rebooting my Comcast modem, and several other things I've read in forums to no avail. Did I miss something when setting up the software? I'm no exactly tech savvy when it comes to this kind of stuff, so any help you guys could give would be awesome!!

Change the channel on the Airport Express to a channel between 1 and 11 and see if that makes a difference.

HowTo: Use Thunar's Bulk Rename with Dolphin

I thought I would post a quick note here on how to use Thunar's Bulk Rename tool with KDE's Dolphin file browser.
Background
I am aware of KRename, but frankly, I find it a bit too complex. I prefer Bulk Rename because it is simpler, and because I often use regular expressions to rename files, which I find a bit quicker to accomplish with Bulk Rename than with KRename.
Prerequisites
Before getting started, one should make sure that dolphin and thunar are installed. This can simply be checked with the following pacman command:
pacman -Qs 'thunar|dolphin'
The output on should be similar to this:

KDE Service Menu Entries
A kde service menu entry is, in most simple terms and for the purpose of this 'HowTo', a file that defines an option that can be added to e.g. dolphin's right-click menu. These services are by default in:
/usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/
... but one can also add a service to the local configuration, which I recommend, unless you want the Bulk Rename feature to appear system wide.
To add a service entry locally, open a Terminal and create the 'ServiceMenus' directory if it doesn't exist yet:
cd ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services/
mkdir ServiceMenus
cd ServiceMenus
Finally create the service entry that will make 'Bulk Rename' appear as a right-click option in dolphin. To do so, use your favorite text editor and create a file called 'bulk-rename.desktop' with the following content:

ServiceTypes=KonqPopupMenu/Plugin
MimeType=all/all;
Actions=BulkRename;

Be sure to restart dolphin if it was already running. Select a couple of files (it works with folders, too), right-click, and select 'Bulk Rename'. Thunar's Bulk Rename will pop up with the selected files, ready for your renaming actions.

No (p)rename in Arch?

I just wanted to rename some mp3s I had lying around and wanted to do this with perl-expressions. Back in Ubuntu I just had to run "rename", which would take a Perl-like Regular expressions (complete with tokens and backreferences) and a file scheme and would throw every filename against that expression and rename the file accordingly. Link to Original Article that led me to that app
But the Arch-'rename' tool is much less capable of doing the tasks I need done.
After booting back in Ubuntu I found out that the rename-tool I had been using was actually "prename". I didn't find much info on the net about it so I just copied the binary back in Arch and it worked.
But I think such a great tool should be included in Arch. So if anyone knows something about prename post here so maybe I could make a package in AUR or so.

prename seems to be part of the debian project.
In debian, it's part of the perl package. It's not in the original perl source, but separately added in the debian specific diff file. As ubuntu is based on debian, that would explain why they're using prename per default.
I don't know why they don't include it as a separate file, but you have to extract the program from the diff.
Fortunately, I've already succeeded in doing so, and have posted a package to the AUR.
As I'm not aware of any way to manage alternatives in Arch (like in e.g. debian or gentoo) I've simply left it as prename.

No connection after waking from sleep using Express as base station

I find it difficult to re-establish my Internet connection after waking from sleep.
The Airport Express is connected to a wired Linksys router. I am using the Airport Express as my main base station. The Powerbook is joining my preferred network, but I am unable to get any in- or outbound Internet traffic.
I am, however, able to connect to my Linkys and login to to its admin area. When I run Ping and Traceroute diagnostics from the Linksys web interface, everything seems to be fine-- I am able to see outside servers. So the problem is this-- I am losing my Internet connection somewhere between the Linksys router and my Powerbook. Only after I fiddle I reset the Airport Express and fiddle with the Airport menu (Turn Airport On/Off) am I finally able to get out to the Internet.
I have the channel switching set to Automatic, but I've also tried running the Airport Express at different channels to no avail.
Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Since you have an Airport Express connected to a separate router, start by disabling the router built into the Airport Express. To do this - run the Airport Admin Utility, select your Airport Express, click Configure, click the Network tab, and uncheck the setting to "Distribute IP addresses". Update settings to the Airport Express. Then - very important - restart all wireless computers.
