Extended Identity Manager User Attributes

Howdy,
I'm trying to add some attributes to the user accounts stored local to the Identity Manager. I went to the configure menu, and set up the attributes under the Identity Attributes tab. I set the attributes to be stored locally and saved them. I also made sure to indicate that the attributes should be available to the IDM admin and end user interfaces. However, the attributes do not show up when I list the users. When I go to the users attribute tab, it contains only the Account ID attribute. Shouldn't I be able to add a new attribute and edit it?
Much thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

It is an XML object so I dont think it has a limit as such, though the system will get slower to checkout and checkin if you overextend it.
there usually isn't any reason to extend it extensivly... I believe it stores most of that, if the querable flag is set at least, in the user attributes table
if you need a lot of data connected to a user you could always have an extra table and store it in, you dont need to store everything in the user object unless you need it every time the user is checked in/out etc etc

    See OSS note 869852 - Central Note For UME Web Dynpro UIs (user Admin in Portal). Topic #5 Troubleshooting discusses some possible solutions. We have found that sometimes, a complete shutdown and restart of the server works.  Also, our Basis guys stopped and then restarted application com.sap.security.core.admin in the visual administrator and then the User Admin functionality was available for awhile until the portal was stopped/started for backup. Our Basis group is going to look into this further and I will post any additional info that we find.  Would appreciate it if you would do the same.

  • How am I supposed to manage user attributes in ML?

    User management with Server.app is easy....if you don't want to set more user attibutes than a name and mail address.
    But with Workgroup Manager we cloud do more. How am I supposed to set additional attributes (surname, city, ...) without WGM?
    Kind regards

    Guys, your are lightning fast ;-)
    I've already downloaded WGM.

  • User management for the Identity Management User Interface

    Hi everyone!
    We have set up synchronization users from Identity Store in UME UI([Guides|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/304280b4-25d0-2b10-b6a4-89c27409dea7?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]).
      When we assign the privilege priv: ume should be performed three tasks:
    1. creating UME user
    2. modify UME user
    3. Add Password
    But we see the fulfillment of only 1 and 2 tasks.
    Why not fulfilled the task number 3?

    Ivan,
    In the workflow called "#Create UME user" from attached MCC files of the Guide,
    Job "Add Password" will be executed only if the selected user does NOT have attribute MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD set.
    So, if the user on who you tried to provision UME privilege has already an MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD defined correctly (DES3 encoded string), the job "Add Password" will not be executed.
    To check this, get the MSKEY of the provision user and execute the following SQL query of the conditional task :
    If you get a line in return, result is TRUE, else it's FALSE
    SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT mskey) FROM MXIV_SENTRIES WHERE is_id=%$glb.SAP_MASTER_IDS_ID% AND
    ((mskey IN (SELECT mskey FROM MXIV_SENTRIES WHERE attrname='MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD' AND searchvalue LIKE '%' AND mskey= <Enter the MSKEY of the provision USER>)))

    Hi,
    I suggest you need some basic training. I would suggest http://www.javapassion.com/idm/ for a starter.
    To answer you question you will find it in the http://www.javapassion.com/idm/#IDM_Tools online course.
    Good luck.

    All,
    I could resolve the issue by applying the note Note 869852 - Central Note For UME Web Dynpro UIs , the part at page 4/11  :
    5)trouble shooting
    The second symptom matches our problem and was resolved using the solution b.
    Please note if you dont define an account for the Run_as identity it will pickup any user in the Administrator group
    I restarted the J2ee after the change.
    regards

  • VERY URGENT - Identity Management Error

    Hi,
    When I run the User Administration --> Identity Management  --> it is giving an error :
    A required service for Identity management user interface is not available .  Contact  System Admistrator .
    In SAP NOTE 869852 , pg 6 :  to reploy the UMEADMI*.SDA .
    Will it be the correction of reploying ?
    As this is occuring in production server , if i apply any other affects will cause to the server.
    Thanks ,
    Srini

    Srinivas,
    Perhaps some of the portal application hasn't started. Perform the following steps:
    To restart all the portal apps, telnet to the portal server:
    telnet portal.mycompany.com 50108
    // If your port is 50000, then the telnet portal becomes 50008.
    Login as administrator and then run the following commands:
    jump 0
    add deploy
    list_app
    start_app-all
    If portal runs on a cluster, follow these steps as well:
    jump 1
    add deploy
    list_app
    start_app-all
    Hope this helps.

  • Saving/fetching extended user attribute

    I recently got rid of all of my global.* attribute references because both in experience and in quite a lot of stated opinions here in the forum, it was the right thing to do.
    Everything is working great except my sole extended user attribute, which is basically an employee ID. It has a good IDMAttributeConfiguration and IDMObjectClassAttributeConfiguration defined in IDMSchemaConfiguration. In my active sync form I set accounts[Lighthouse].myAttributeName, and in the field directly after it I trace the value out to catalina.out so I can see that it's all good.
    But when I bring up the user in a view user form, myAttributeName is nowhere to be found as I look through all of the local variables via the debugger. In particular, none of these exist:
    accounts[Lighthouse].myAttributeName
    waveset.attributes.myAttributeName
    waveset.myAttributeName
    global.myAttributeName
    I'm running 8.0.0.4 (I'd like to get this last bit to production before I upgrade to 8.1.x). I've triple-checked to make sure there aren't typos.
    What am I forgetting? I feel like it must be something pretty basic...
    Thanks in advance, -Les

    PaulHilchey wrote:
    I believe accounts[Lighthouse].myAttributeName should do what you want, but be sure you don't have any "global" references at all.
    If you've got even one global reference it would trigger the global propagation mechanism that could mess you up.Paul,The default tabbed user form pulls in IdentityContent from User Library, which uses "global" references for firstname, lastname, fullname, email, idmManager. Do you use the default IdentityContent, or you do replace the name fields with accounts[Lighthouse] references? When you update firstname (say) in activesync, do you refer to it in the global or accounts[Lighthouse] namespace?
    I discovered something else unexpected that feels related. In my IDM schema configuration, I had correctly formatted IDMAttributeConfiguration and IDMObjectClassAttributeConfiguration entries for my attribute, but I had inserted them alphabetically in the configurations. My attribute name begins with a "c", and it came at the top of the lists as presented in the XML source. In that state, my attribute was no longer listed in the Identity Manager Attributes in the Rule Argument pull down list when assigning a conditionally contained role. But when I moved the IDMAttributeConfiguration and IDMObjectClassAttributeConfiguration entries for my attribute to follow the entries for lastname (and restarted the app server), then my attribute became listed in the pulldown! How odd.
    I have reset my equivalent of IdentityContent to use "global" instead of "accounts[Lighthouse]" and have fixed most of the issues except for an odd race condition in activeSync. I did that before I made the schema configuration changes above, though, so more testing is required. I'll write back if I find out anything interesting.

  • Block users in Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.2

    Hi,
    I have a status query (User Locked) user in Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.2.
    The option to block users, seen in the web administration console of Oracle Identity Manager appears in a disabled state. As I can enable this functionality in Oracle Identity Manager 9 ..?
    Thanks for the support

    Didn't get your question exactly.
    Whenever someone tries to login with wrong password then he gets Locked into OIM. You'll have to go to Admin Console and Unlock it. You can also do this from DB as well.
    To lock user from Admin console, you'll have to create a custom button and extend the same action class to Lock that user into OIM.
    Workaround
    Create a UDF called LOCK.
    Create a trigger on this UDF i.e. whenever LOCK value changes to TRUE then lock the user using DB query or API (UPDATEUSER -- Users.Lock User)

  • Is it possible to access Identity Manager Account Policy attributes?

    Has anyone used attributes to do with checking if a users password has expired on a particular date and has been set not to allow a reset. I want to create a process that creates a bunch of users who want access to a resource for a short time period. I then want to create a process that checks and removes the accounts that have expired.
    I thought maybe I could do this by accessing the settings somehow in the Default Identity Manager Account Policy to do with password expirey. I would like to do this using a workflow or a form.

    Where is this set? Is this in the new role manager by any chance? I have created some roles and assgned resources in IDM 8 but can't find any reference to settings for access limitation time periods.

    I was doing a terrible mistake.. Instead of using createSubcontext, i was using modifyAttributes to create an user. The Problem is resolved now. Here is the latest code
    try {
                   Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
                   env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
                   env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "simple");
                   env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "cn=" + "Directory Manager");
                   env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "password");
                   env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ldap://localhost:389/dc=mytest,dc=com");
                   DirContext ctx = new InitialDirContext(env);
                   // Create attributes to be associated with the new context
                   Attributes attrs = new BasicAttributes(true); // case-ignore
                   Attribute sn = new BasicAttribute("sn");
                   sn.add("NewUser");
                   Attribute cn = new BasicAttribute("cn");
                   cn.add("NewUser");
                   Attribute objclass = new BasicAttribute("objectclass");
                   objclass.add("top");
                   objclass.add("inetOrgPerson");
                   attrs.put(objclass);
                   attrs.put(sn);
                   attrs.put(cn);
                   // Create the context
                   Context result = ctx.createSubcontext("cn=NewUser", attrs);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   System.out.println("e is " + e);
              }

  • How to get the user created when I prepare for the BD Identity Manager

    Hi I have a query, I need to get a backup database Identity Manager 9.1, I have a problem I do not remember user created to perform the backup, how can you know that I created when I made the installation of Identity Manager, or how can I find

    Hi,
    You can do this trick:
    1) Go to "Deployment Manager" in the Web Console, and open the EXPORT applet
    2) Export the User Defined Fields from the USR form. You don't need any dependence for this.
    3) Open the generated XML with a text editor.
    3) Search for the <SDK_SCHEMA> tag
    This tag contains the OIM schema name, wich shoud be your OIM database user.
    Hope it helps,
