External Operations in Standard Cost

Hi All,
Currently when we run standard cost rollup,we are not adding any external operations costs to product and once production process is complete,it is settling as a variances.how can i include external operations cost in cost component?
every production order external operations  costs is different and we have one primary cost element to post external operations cost.
any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rau

Don't solve my problem ecause this is my question.
I want that this field "Planned Delivery Time" is compiled by Default value. Is it possible.
In my opinion I hope that in Work Center for externa Operation, for example, there is a parameter that allows me to have a default value into the Field. Or in Master data of material.
My user want that they create a routing and insert the work center about external operation, the system put authomatically the value into the "Planned Delivery Time".
It's a request, but I don't find a standard solution.

  • Costing relevancy for operation in standard costing

    Dear all:
We are using standard costing, with the usual master data (routing operations, work centers, activity tariffs, bill of material).
Due to certain specific operations we would like in certain routings that certain operations would have a fixed relevance for the cost calculation and subsequently for the real cost.
If we changed the planned time for the operation, notifications would need to be calculated (that is, if the real time is 45 min, and we have reduced the planned time in 80% we would have to notify 9 minutes).
If we change the tariff, this would affect to all the routings linked to thart work center.
We would also rather work with the current work center, so that we would not need to change our plant reports.
The Costing relevancy of the operation in the routing is not apropiate for this, as it only works for inventory costing.
Any simple idea to achieve that?
    Thanks for your help.

    Ariel,
In master receipe, without maintaining operation the phase can not be maintained.
Scheduling & costing of the process order are dependent on phase.
So hierarchly phase is below the operation but have importance than that of operation.
Control receipe destination is the mandatory entry.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Maintenance Order operations details and cost

    Dear Expert,
I am having external service scenario where vendor raise the invoice with different labour charges and spare parts charges. To map this,I am thinking to create 2 services with different GL accounts. So please let me know whether this will work and I able to bifurgate the vendor cost.
Another thing,In maintenance  order I will enter 2 operations,1st is for labour service and 2nd is for spare parts cost and assign the related service to this operations. Now is there any std report available where I will get operation wise cost based on the service cost for spare parts cost and labour cost,if not then please let me know the logic to developed the Z reports for the same.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards.
    Swapnil

    Hi Swapnil,
Its possible if you plan to develop a custom report.
    In standard not possible.
For all these service entry cost, you can get through below tables
ESKN                           Account Assignment in Service Package
    ESLH                           Service Package Header Data
    ESLL                           Lines of Service Package
    ESLP                           Service Item
    ESLT                           Service Item Short Texts
ESSR                           Service Entry Sheet Header Data
    ESST                           Service Item Short Texts
Similarly, you can obtain cost at different places like Internal Labour / External Labour / Internal material / External materials. Each costing information can be taken from different tables.
You need a good Abaper to get the logic and work on it

  • External Operation Processing

    Dear all,
I'm using a external control key, I have an external service I want to perfom. How come I don't have a place inside the routing to indicate the service that I want like PM task lists? Also how is the purchasing department supposed to understand and the production people how would they know which cost element (GL Account) to throw in, it's too technical for them since each service is related to a certain cost element.
Do you have a workaround solution for this?

    Rafik,
You can use external operations control key like the standard one "PP02", here in the purchasing view you can assign the GL account / Inforecord details, based on these details the external operation PR would get created.

  • Standard Cost Estimate for Subcontracting

    Dear Sir / Madam,
We are in the process of migrating from our normal R/3 operations for Production Planning to Execution inclusive of Costing of materials by using iPPE functionality for repetitive scenario. We have our BOMs for painted body currently in R/3. The painted body falls under subcontracting scenario.
In this scenario the body in white produced from our bodyshop is sent out to the subcontractor along with certain paint items and is received as painted body and consumption of the body in white and the paint items sent needs to be shown during the goods receipt of painted body.
For this we have maintained the BOM for the painted body in iPPE. Also in the costing variant "ZD01" in order to arrive at Standard cost (CK11N) for the painted body we have maintained the following settings for Valuation variant for subcontracting :
    Priority     Strategy Sequence
    1          Net Quotation Price
2          Effective Price from Purchase Order
While running CK11N for the material (painted body) we are receiving the following message
Message no. 28501 : Error in dependency processing: condition 0000062388 is empty
We wanted to verify whether the message raised is normal or would it have any adverse impact.
Your assistance would be highly appreciated.

    Dear All,
Control Key is important for inhouse producrtion and Sub Contract.  Check it once and when ever u have given the Product (semi fisished) to Sub Contractor, along with Paint.
Here one thing is important what is your process? how much portionis involced in Sub contracting.  why because
Paint issue to the sub con is captured by the way for migo or miro
Payment to sub contract is capture all the cost of the Sub Con., then is there any cost is missed for this process.  Let me know the remain things?

  • Is it possible to do Standard Cost Estimate even if we have open sales Orde

    Hi,
I have a small doubt and questions regarding Standard cost estimate.
Is it possible to Execute Standard cost estimate when we have Open Sales orders and Open Purchase orders?
Is there any problem if we execute standard cost estimate when we have open Sales orders and Open purchase orders?
Kindly clarify my doubt and help me.
    Thanks
    Supriya

    Dear Supriya,
There is no relation between sales order or purchase order and a standard cost estimate.
Standard cost estimate basically sums up the cost of the BOM components and the operation(activity
cost) or the processing cost(if sub-contracted) based on the material's procurement type and the
    costing variant used.
    Check and revert back.

  • Schedule lines for an external operation in a production order

    Hi All,
I have an external operation defined in a production order and a scheduling agreement is assigned to it in the Routing operation details.  Now, i want to generate schedule lines when a production order created but the system always generating a purchase requisition.  Do we need something to be configured in the background?  Please help!
The idea is to have the goods receipt done against the same agreement always.
    Regards,
    Sravan

    Hi Sravan,
As per my view point, this is standard SAP behaviour. System will generate PR only in case of external operation.
If you go to OPL8 (Order type dependent parameters) for your respective order type & plant combination you have option of maintaining setting related to PR only and there is no option of using scheduling agreement or generating schedule lines.
I don't see any possibility to use scheduling agreement using to have schedule lines for external operation.

  • External Operation Job Log

    Hello all,
I can't seem to find additional information on this. I have written an exteranl operation in c# and I can run it from the portal without any issue. I know that standard error is supposed to be captured in the job log, however I can't seem to figure out how to write to standard error from a c# console application. Console.error doesn't seem to cut it.
I am using ALUI 6.0 sp1, but I dont' think this has changed much over the years. Has anybody written a c# external operation and been able to write to the job log?

You could just make it write to stdout and then redirect stdout to stderr like this: "dir 1>&2". I put that in a bat file in the scripts directory and then made the bat an external operation. It wrote to the job logs like this:

  • Update of Price in Material Master  when standard costing is released.

    Hello SAP gurus,
When we created standard cost estimate, various cost estimate is created in various views Cost of good sold, cost of good manufactured and Inventory ( commercial ). Different view have different cost estimate.
But we I release costing , the material master is updated by cost estimate of Inventory ( commercial). The cost estimate from Cost of good manufactured should be update?
I am not able to solve the above issue , please help with customizing link
    Regards,
    Anand Agrawal

    Hi Anand,
While you configure the Cost Componenet structure you define the attributes of cost Components in OKTZ.
When defining the cost components, you must specify whether the cost component plays a role in the creation of the different prices that are transferred into the material master record. You have the following options:
    Standard price
Costs that are flagged as relevant for stock valuation form part of the standard price if the results of the standard cost estimate are marked and released. These costs also serve as a basis for the following:
The calculation of target costs in variance calculation
The valuation of scrap in variance calculation
The valuation of work in process for the confirmed yield for the operation (order-related production, process manufacturing) or at the reporting point (repetitive manufacturing)
    Commercial price
Costs that are flagged as relevant for inventory valulation for the purposes of commercial law form part of the commercial price. This price is calculated in an inventory cost estimate and can be written to the material master record.
    Tax price
Costs that are flagged as relevant for inventory valuation for the purposes of tax law form part of the tax price. This price is calculated in an inventory cost estimate and written to the material master record.
The above information will prove helpful.

  • External operation in routing

    Hi
In routing if I maintain controlkey with external operation, I have to enter the info record details.
(I have to create info record without ref to material, the pur req/Pur ord created will be account assigned).
When ever I create an order the system will generate pur req for external opeation with ref to info record and it wil be always send to the vendor which i have maintained in info record.
My requirement is, I have 5 vendors who can do the same processing with different cost and lead time. I need to select the vendors.
Please let me know how to achieve this.
I cant go for Quota arrangement, since material number is not involved.
I dont want to create different routing with different info record details.
    Regards
    S.Senthil

    Hi ,
In Your Scenario what i feel is you can create one routing in which u can mainatin vendor info record which is commonly used.Create a production order, but before releasing  it,u can change purchase info record by making the customised setting as below.
Go to OPL8,for particular order type and plant combination, maintain order type dependent parameters in which in planning tab -purchase requistion -try to put 2 or 1 and test (1-never it will not create,2 -purchase requistions will be created after release,3-Immidiately when order is created)
Hope it will solve ur problem

  • Cost Updating and Standardized cost difference apportion

    Dear All,
1、 Cost updating:Standardized cost or average cost change is updated across all sub-inventory simultaneously, but the update should exclude the inventory that lends stocks (we do not want to update the cost of lending stock).
2、Standardized cost difference apportion:Standardized cost difference apportion is operated manually without system support (we want to do the apportion when stocks are delivered).

  • Material Ledger - Actual / Standard costing

Hi Experts, we need some help in material price determination with material ledger. Due to local regulations, we need to have our material master with price control determination valued to V in local currency, however, due to IFRS regulations, we need to post the group currency (USD) with standard costing.
We've already configured opposite way (local/group currency with price control S and calculation of actual costing with CKMLCP for previous period) but we need something similar for local currency in V price determination.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response. Yes, CKMLCP will change the price control to V but we need this price in every operation in local currency (price determination 2). Now, in material ledger, we need to post the standard price (by operation or adjusting with a process at the end of the period). This is the scenario that you are saying but backwards.

  • OPM Process Execution and OPM Standard Costing for Poultry Business

I have a business requirement from the client at their Poultry Processing plant where the client feels that the OPM Execution steps are too cumbersome until closing the batches. The client wants to maintain minimum number of batches in Production: one for Primary, one for Secondary and one for Further Processing, rather than having multiple batches based on different formulas. There are 3 main types of processing which can be briefly described as follows:
    A.) Primary Processing:
Live Birds (Ingredient) become Whole Dressed Chicken with Neck, without Neck, Liver, Heart, etc... (40 Finished Products)
e.g. Live Birds (Broiler) -> Whole Dressed Chicken with/without neck, Whole Dressed Chicken with/without neck, etc.
    B.) Secondary Processing:
Only one type of Whole Dressed Chicken (from Primary Processing) become Chicken Cuts (80 Finished Products).
e.g.[Scenario B1] Whole Dressed Chicken (Broiler) -> Drumsticks, Thighs, Wings, Breasts, Backbone, etc.
[Scenario B2] Breasts -> Filets and Deboned Breasts (2 FGs)
[Scenario B3] Thighs -> Thighs in Plain Bag
Please note that the Whole Dressed Chicken is also sold as a Finished Good as well as an Ingredient for the Secondary Processing.
    C.) Further Processing:
Chicken Cuts become 40 Finished Products
e.g Filets -> Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Fries, etc...
The client is using Standard Costing method for its OPM Financials and all the finished products (160 Products in all) are having different production cost. Please note that 1 kg of Chicken Wings is not equal to 1 Kg of Chicken Thighs. Different body parts have different costs. In order to alleviate the maintenance of multiple batches per day on the production floor, the client wishes to have minimum batches. We therefore would wish if you can confirm the below approach to be correct?
    a.) OPM Process Execution:
    ==========================
    EITHER should I (Option 1):
a.) Create ONLY 3 Formulas for Primary, Secondary and Further Processing . The 3 Formulas will have all the processing line Finished Products grouped together (as per the scenarios explained above). Formula for Primary and Secondary Processing can also combined together, reducing it to only 2 batches to maintain per day.
b.) Can set any Quantity Values for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with ANY Cost Allocation (amounting to a total of '1') in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'PRODUCTION' for the 3 Recipes
d.) Complete the steps defined in the 'OPM Cost Management' (as described below)
e.) Create the 2 or 3 batches and record the appropriate quantities at the end of the day before closing the batches
    OR should I (Option 2):
a.) Create MULTIPLE Formulas (above 100 formulas) for Primary, Secondary and Further Processing based on the different products processed.
b.) Can set any Quantity Values for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with ANY Cost Allocation (amounting to a total of '1') in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'PRODUCTION' for the 3 Recipes
d.) Complete the steps defined in the 'OPM Cost Management' (as described below)
e.) Create the MULTIPLE batches and record the appropriate quantities at the end of the day before closing the batches.
    b.) OPM Cost Management:
    ========================
Whether (Option 1 or Option 2) selected, the below needs to be set for OPM Costing:
a.) Define multiple formulas (above 100), as in Option 2.
b.) Set the Quantity value to be '1' for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with the appropriate Cost Allocation in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'COSTING' and 'PRODUCTION' for each Recipe
d.) Run Cost Rollup at least once so that the products can have an item cost per unit
As per me, for the purpose of Costing, it would be imperative to have multiple batches (created one time only) with appropriate Cost Allocation in the Formulas and the ‘Recipe Use’ in the Validity Rules should be set as ‘COSTING’. Then, setting Profile Option 'GMF: Use Only Costing Validity Rules for Cost Rollup' to 'Yes'. In this way, we are sure that the different products in the formula with correct Cost Allocation will have their Item Cost calculated after performing the Cost Rollup. AND, for the purpose of operations, we can only one combined formula of Live Birds (as Ingredients) to yield -> All FGs for Primary and Secondary Processing with Cuts. But, this time, the ‘Recipe Use’ in the Validity Rules of the Recipe should be set as ‘PRODUCTION’.
I want to confirm which approach (Option 1 or Option 2) is more appropriate in terms of Operations and confirm that the above proposed steps are correct with no circular reference (as certain finished products are also used as ingredients for another product in the Secondary Processing)?
    Thanks and regards

    Hi Raveesh
I am implementing OPM R12 in Poultry Processing business, I think option 1 (Create 3 formulas/recipes/batches) is more appropriate. In my case we are using actual costing (Moving Average) as a costing method.
I have set the profile option GMF: Cost Allocation Factor Calculation to be "Dynamic" to calculate the batch cost allocations as a ratio of actual quantity of each product produced to the total production batch output quantity and I have used OPM Financial Cost Allocation process to allocate GL expenses on different products based on Fixed percentage % according to product "value" where Filets has a return more than wings.
Can you please share your knowledge in this business area and confirm to what extend my approach is correct ??
    Thank you and best regards

  • Standard costs

    Hi All,
    Please suggest.....
Currently, we capture the transfer rate (standard costs) as one amount in SAP and BW. For this to work we would need to capture the four components of the transfer rate. (Direct Labor. Packaging, Ingredients and Overhead)  Once we capture this data, we will need to establish procedures to charge the operating segments for the variable costs, fixed overhead and potentially any variable/fixed variances.
let me know your suggestion, how can i split the costs?
    Thanks and Regards
    Prathap

    Hi,
You can split the cost component structure (CCS) for saandard price and also activity price(primary CCS). This can be used for transfering value as the detailed COGS. There're also BW contents in standard to extract BW in use.

  • Scrap costs in Standard Costs without adding scrap factor in BOM

Running one part number, multiple operations in factory.
Need to account for Standard Cost including Scrap, but do not want to inflate BOM using a scrap factor.  How can we maintain accurate backflush of matls and capture scrap costs for use in Stds?

If you do not want to consider the scrap qty. in operations but want to consider it only for costing purpose, then create a costing BOM i.e. usage 6. In this BOM you can maintain the scrap. Also ensure the costing variant which you're using has a priority of costing bom over say production bom or universal bom.
Discuss this with your costing person as well.
