External trigger for internal event

Hello,
I would like to use an external trigger on a PFI-line to trigger an
internal event, e.g. the switch of an indicator on the front panel from
"1" to "2".
How do I do that?

Thanks for your answer!
The problem was that I wanted to use a PFI-line on a PCI-board
(BNC-2110) from NI to trigger the start of a voltage output task. On
the other hand, I wanted to use the same trigger event for stopping a
while-loop which would otherwise abort the task after some seconds if
the trigger didn't come; the data generation itself is rather long, so
you have to set the "timeout" terminal of "DAQmx Wait Until Done" to "
-1". The problem was that it is not possible (at least on this board)
to use a digital in-line for triggering the task and the PFI-line for
getting a digital input. So I splitted the signal up: it was weird to
both lines and worked as trigger on the PFI and was monitored on a
DI-line.
This setup worked, but as there were still some problems, I changed it
again. Now I check for some digital in-lines (which provide a stimulus)
in a while-loop while waiting for the trigger; if the stimulus changes,
the task (which is waiting for the trigger) is aborted. The problem is
that if the stimulus doesn't change and the task is triggered as usual
and is completed, I can't report that fact to the while loop! So the
while-loop goes on and blocks the rest of the diagram. I just wrote
another posting concerning that thing, if you would have a look... It
can be really a little hard sometimes, can't it...
This thing concerning the event structure and value (signaling) sounds
interesting, I'm just trying to figure out the possibilities how to use
an event structure; but it's not always really intuitive.
Best regards,
Mitja

  • How do I prepare G4 with external HD for internal HD replacement?

    My G4, bought in 2005, is becoming unstable. I want to prepare for replacing the internal HD. I have an external Firewire 186 GB Seagate HD that is only partially utilized for storing photographic images. I have the original install disks for OS X 10.4 and for many - but not all - of the applications on the internal HD. MS Office might not have another install privilege and Adobe can be difficult about reusing their product serial numbers. I assume that the authorization codes for purchased downloads are stored somewhere on the internal HD.
    Can I move the applications to the external HD while I replace the internal HD, reinstall the OS and the Intego security suite, set up the WLAN codes, and update the OS? I would not need to run the applications from the external HD but I would want to reinstall them from there onto the new internal HD if that is at all possible.

    Hi Oliver, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    First, how much space is free on the external drive, and how much is used on the Internal drive?
    The best way would be to Clone the Internal to the external drive, without erasing anything on the external, which if you have enough space can be done if we take care with additional instructions to follow if needed.

  • Using external scsi for internal drive.

    Hi people. I have a beige g3 desktop and recently bought a sound card (pro tools project pci) that has a scsi port for external drives. The card wont work without a drive atached, and I was wondering if I could use a 50 pin centronics to 50 pin internal cable adapter to use an internal scsi inside the g3.
    External scsi cases are cheap but I am trying to make some sort of portable set up and would love to avoid them.
    I saw adapters on the web but could not find any here (argentina) and it is a headache to get one sent here.
    Anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks in advance
    Pepo

    I've never used the Digidesign Pro Tools Project card, so is the external hard drive strictly needed to terminate the card's SCSI bus or does the card's configuration software require it? If you just need termination, is the card's external port the HD-50 SCSI-2 type? If so, would this active terminator solve the problem? If the interface isn't the correct one to match the one on the PCI card, could you connect a Centronics-50 active terminator to the end of the cable?
    If you need to have a hard drive connected with the setup, were you planning on running the external cable through an unused PCI slot opening in the back? For a clean-looking installation, you could install an adapter like this one, in place of the PCI slot's blank cover. Unfortunately, it prevents the use of the PCI slot for other cards, and this adapter has an external DB-25 port, requiring the adapter to Centronics-50. A standard 50-conductor SCSI ribbon cable would connect between the hard drive and the interior port on the adapter card. I don't know if you've noticed, but just behind the left-side drive bays in the G3 desktop, you'll see a removable piece of metal that closes off the inside corner of the drive bay chassis. You can remove that piece of metal, and provide a path for the drive's data cable to reach the PCI slot area of the computer. It's easier than routing the cable back through the slot behind the CD-ROM drive, which is usually too crowded with cabling anyway.

  • External enclosure for internal drive?

    If I replace the 80 GB hard drive that will be coming with my Macbook with a lareger drive running at 7200 RPM, I would like to convert the stock one into an external drive.
    Can anyone recommend a specific "enclosure" that will convert the 2.5" with the SATA interface, offer both USB and firewire connections, and for a cheap price??? I would really appreciate the insight, my search thus far has me scratching my head....

    Unfortunately there isn't a cheap Firewire enclosure yet. There is a really good USB one, which I have <a href="http://cavemonkey50.com/2006/07/coolgears-25-inch-sata-to-usb-hard-drive- enclosure/"
    reviewed on my website</a>.
    As far as Firewire v. USB, it depends what you'll use the drive for. If it's just for occasional backup or file storage, USB will work fine for you. However if you want to transfer huge files back and forth between the drive often, you'll definitely want a Firewire connection. There is a great benchmark comparison that you should check out to see the actual performance difference. Now just keep in mind that the MacBook only has a Firewire 400 port.

  • How can I trigger an onchange event for hidden or never displayed item

    hi -- I have an item that I don't want displayed on my page -- more info than the user wants or needs; call it B. It needs to be
    set by an onchange event from a visible item (A); then, the change of B triggers on onchange to set another item (visible) -- C.
    When B is visible on the page, it all works. If I make it hidden or conditionally never displayed, it doesn't work. From the looks of
    it, B never gets changed.
    How can I trigger this onchange event (from B to set C) with B not visible?
    Thanks,
    Carol

    hi Varad -- Probably more info than you want... but here's the whole chain of events.
    Hope it answers your question.
    C
    **** 1
    In A's html form element attributes (simplified; I took out the irrelevant call to jsLookupValue that sets another item).
    onchange='jsLookupValue($v("P142_SITE_ID"),"site_id","P142_OBJECTTYPE_ID","objecttype_id","hdb_site_syn");'
    **** 2
    jsLookupValue is the following.
    The statement that actually sets the value of B is: $s(dest_item_name, jsonobj.row[0].RETURN_VAL);
    function jsLookupValue(source_item_value, source_column_name, dest_item_name, dest_column_name, lookup_table_name){
    // Continue only if there are valid values
    if (valueOf(source_column_name)&&valueOf(dest_item_name)&&valueOf(dest_column_name)&&valueOf(lookup_table_name)){
    //Check to see if the source_item_value is null (either all spaces or empty
    //If it is, set the dest item to null, but only if it's not already --
    //otherwise we get into a loop.
    source_item_value = trim(source_item_value);
    dest_item_value = trim($v(dest_item_name));
    if (source_item_value.length==0) {
    if (dest_item_value.length != 0) {
    $s(dest_item_name, null);
    }else{
    //This is the AJAX call to the Application Process from step 1
    ajaxRequest = new htmldb_Get(null,&APP_ID.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=LOOKUP_VALUE',0);
    //Here we are adding that x01 parameter we use in the app process with the value of the objecttype_name field
    ajaxRequest.addParam('x01', source_item_value);
    ajaxRequest.addParam('x02', source_column_name);
    ajaxRequest.addParam('x03', dest_item_name);
    ajaxRequest.addParam('x04', dest_column_name);
    ajaxRequest.addParam('x05', lookup_table_name);
    //Now do the actual AJAX call and put the result in ajaxResponse
    ajaxResponse = ajaxRequest.get();
    //Check if there is a response
    if (ajaxResponse) {
    //We need to format the JSON return string and put it in a JSON object
    // the formatting is done by a function in the external JSON library
    // the jsonobj can be used to retrieve the data returned by the App process
    var jsonobj= ajaxResponse.parseJSON();
    // And finally, we set the DNAME item with the value of the jsonobj.DNAME
    // an array was created in the object with the name row, so that is why you have to include row[0] to retrieve the data
    if (jsonobj.row[0].RETURN_VAL != $v(dest_item_name)) {
    $s(dest_item_name, jsonobj.row[0].RETURN_VAL);
    }else{
    } //not setting
    }else{
    alert('No response from app process');
    } //no response
    } //no source item value
    } //no bad nulls
    } //function

    I won't bore you with app process LOOKUP_VALUE. It just builds an sql query that gets the value for B, aliased to RETURN_VAL.

  • How can I make iMovie use my external HD for projects instead of my Internal HD?

    I only have a 250GB internal HD and using iMovie can take up a lot of space. I moved all my movie files to an external HD, but when I start up iMovie none of them show up. I have to import them back which places it on my internal HD and I really don't have much space so I can't do anymore projects. Can anyone help me? I am using version 7.1.4 .

    With version 7.1.4 of iMovie, you must keep your projects on the startup drive. However, the Events contain the large files, and can be moved to the external drive.
    You must move the Events from within iMovie. Click VIEW/EVENTS BY VOLUME. This will show you alll your properly formatted drives that are available. (The external drive must be formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled). Then, in the Event  Library, you can drag and drop the small icons for the Events to the small icon for the drive in the Event Library List along the left side.
    If you need to move Projects also, you should upgrade to iMovie 11. It is available in the Mac App Store for about $15.
    Another note: In iMovie 7.1.4, you can move Events by dragging. However, in iMovie 8.06 (iMovie 09) and iMovie 9.0.4 (iMovie 11), drag and drop will copy. You have to hold down the Command Key while dragging to move rather than copy.

  • GR/IR Account - one for internal vendor and another for external vendors

    Hi Experts,
    Can I have two GR/IR accounts - one for internal vendors and another for external vendors?  Please let me know.
    Thank you.
    with regards,
    Muthu Ganapathy.

    Hi Muthu,
    GR/IR accounts are not dependent on Vendors, they are dependent on Materials, to be precise on Plant/Valclass.
    You can post to 2 different GR/IR accounts if you set up 2 different classes. then it is possible.
    For setting up the same. Go to T.code : OBYC, Transaction : WRX.
    Here Setup different GR/IR accounts per val.class.
    Letme know if you need further info

  • Outlook 2013 people pane is not showing any items for internal domain users. External contacts works fine

    I have recently purchase a new PC which has Windows 8.1, and Outlook 2013, connected to an exchange 2010 SP3 RU4 server.
    In the People pane, the for External clients, then this box populates correctly, but for internal domain users, it shows "There are no items to show in this view"
    On my OLD PC using XP, and Outlook 2010, connected to the SAME account, then people pane shows correctly for all users.
    Any help appreciated
    regards
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    I have checked in my Windows 8 and Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4 environment. There are three folders listed under My Contact in my People pane:
    Contacts: The contacts which we added and saved
    manually before.
    Lync Contacts: The contacts we added in Lync.
    Suggested contacts folder: Automatically
    keeps track of everyone you send a message to, but isn’t in your Outlook contacts. Please note that it is different from Auto-Complete List.
    Therefore, I suppose that the meaning of “but for internal domain users, it shows ‘There are no items to show in this view’ ” is that there is no contacts in the
    Contacts folder. Is it right? If I misunderstand, please point it out. And we need to add and save users manually in this folder.
    Thanks,

  • How to set a default start and/or end date for New Events based on trigger date.

    I'm using the CalendarActivityListener to get current row when clicking on an existing event. As per previous posts this listener gives you access to event detail including Start Date, End Date, etc.
    However, what I want to do is to default the start (and end) dates for New Events based on the trigger date.
    I've tried the CalendarListener and can grab the Trigger Date from it - however, I can't see a way to pass this directly to the popup/dialog I'm using to create the new event.
    At present I'm putting the TriggerDate into the ADFContext session scope e.g. ADFContext.getCurrent().getSessionScope().put("TriggerDate",calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());
    Then, I've tried multiple approaches to try and "get" the TriggerDate from session scope to drop it into my new Calendar Event basically, I'm trying to default the InputField(s) associated with the Start Date using the value from the session - I've tried
    1. setting the default value for the InputField in the jspx using a binding expression i.e. value="#{sessionScope.TriggerDate}" - this actually sets the value appropriately when the jspx is rendered but, when I go to create I get a NPE and I can't debug. I assumed that it might be a Date type issue - it would appear that CalendarListener provides a date of type java.util.Date and that the StartDate attribute of my VO/EO/table is a DATE and therefore requires oracle.jbo.domain.Date so I tried casting it - to no effect
    2. Using a Groovy expression *(StartDate==null?adf.context.sessionScope.TriggerDate:StartDate)* in my calendar's EventVO to default the Start Date to the same result
    Any thoughts or ideas?

    John,
    Thanks for that suggestion - could not get it to work. However, I did manage a different approach. I finally determined the sequence of events in terms of how the various events and listeners fire (I think).
    Basically, the CalendarActivityListener fires, followed by the listener associated with the Calendar object's Create facet, followed finally by the CalendarEventListener - the final is where the TriggerEvent is available and then finally, control is passed to the popup/dialog in the Create facet. So, my approach of trying to set/get the TriggerDate in the user's HTTP session was doomed to failure because it was being get before it had been set :(
    Anyway, I ended up adding a bit of code to the CalendarEvent listener - it grabs the current BindingContext, navigates through the DCBindingContainer to derive an Iterator for the ViewObject which drives the calendar and then grabs the currently active row. I then do a few tests to make sure we're working with a "new" row because I don't want to alter start & end dates associated with an existing calendar entry and then I define the Start and End dates to be the Trigger Date.
    Works just fine. Snippet from the listener follows
    BindingContext bindingContext = BindingContext.getCurrent();+
    *if ( bindingContext != null )    {*+
    DCBindingContainer dcBindings = (DCBindingContainer) bindingContext.getCurrentBindingsEntry();+
    DCIteratorBinding iterator = dcBindings.findIteratorBinding("EventsView1Iterator");+
    Row currentRow = iterator.getCurrentRow();+
    if ( currentRow.getAttribute("StartDate") == null)+
    currentRow.setAttribute("StartDate", calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());+
    if (currentRow.getAttribute("EndDate")==null)+
    currentRow.setAttribute("EndDate", calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());+
    *}*

  • Using both internal and external drives for iTunes

    Hi
    I know this is a basic question . I did a few searches and my head started spinning .
    I've been using an external drive for my music but it only has 3GB left .
    My internal drive has 12GB so I would like to start to use it for storage of music along with the external . (I'll be getting a new mac soon)
    In Importing I have >Create file names with track number
    Advanced>Keep iTunes Music folder organized
    This is on my Panther eMac with iTunes 4.7.1
    thanks in advance for any help
    ----------bob
    Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Panther eMac

    The only thing you have to do is to click the 'Reset' button in Preferences>Advanced>General.
    Your 'iTunes Music folder location' will be reset to the default location on the internal disk.
    All new imported music will be stored there.
    New added music will be stored there if you have the checked 'copy files to iTunes Music folder location when adding to library' in Preferences>Advanced>General.
    When your new Mac arrives and you want to transfer the library, first copy the entire 'iTunes' folder (in ./Users/YourUsername/Music) from your eMac to the exact same location on the new Mac.
    To transfer the iTunes folder, you can burn it on CD or DVD, but a lot easier is to put the eMac in Firewire target mode.
    This article tells you how to do that:
    How to use FireWire target disk mode
    After the transfer of the iTunes folder is completed, connect your external drive and run iTunes.
    The new Mac will have a newer iTunes version and it will take some time to convert the old library format to the new format.
    Once all works OK and If you want all your music on your new Mac, use the 'Consolidate Library...' command from the Advanced menu in the menubar.
    All music from the external disk will be copied to the internal disk.
    Hope this helps.

  • Internal Order for prepaid events

    While posting internal order for prepaid events, the system is forcing to enter Investment Profile. That should be the case if it is an investment measure ut this internal order is for recording short term events that get prepaid. How to make this  field "Investment Profile" under Investment tab optional from required.

    Is it at the time of creation of Internal order master data or at the time of posting entries to the Internal Order?
    Can you explain in detail?

  • Best way to change iProc default for Internal vs External Source

    We are using iProc for items that are available both from external suppliers and internal warehouses. Unfortunately, our sourcing rules are set up such that the source defaults to external even if the item is available internally. We cannot set up our sourcing rules to generate a default source of Internal but the business "requires" that the default source is Internal (so long as the item is available internally - it needs to be External if it is not available internally). I have dug around in the code and I cannot see a nice way of customising the pages to achieve that.
    Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, have you been able to change the default?

    Unfortunately, it is very specific to iProcurement - when you add an Item to the Requisition Shopping Cart, it needs to know the source of the item for the Requisition (whether it is internal from existing warehouse stock or external from a supplier) - this is the "Source" that I am talking about.
    There are at least four different pages that have functionality to add items to the shopping cart (all in the oracle/apps/icx/icatalog/shopping or oracle/apps/icx/por/reqmgmt packages).
    When adding to the cart, it is creating an oracle/apps/icx/por/schema/server/PoRequisitionLineEO object, but with the exception of one of the pages, the field is populated by a default.
    Where there is a choice of sources, the user can explicitly select them on the oracle/apps/icx/icatalog/shopping/webui/SelectSourcePG page, but from what we can see, the same logic to set the default on this page is what is used if the user doesn't go to the page.
    This SelectSourcePG uses the oracle/apps/icx/icatalog/shopping/server/SelectSourceSvrCmd class to populate and default this page. The basic default (internal or external) is driven off the logic in the POR_AUTOSOURCE_UTIL_PKG.AUTOSOURCE stored PL/SQL Packaged Procedure. This procedure queries the Purchasing Sourcing Rules and for our data (unfortunately) this always returns a default External source.
    Based on your answer to my other post, I will try a warning message on the creation of the entity object and see how that goes.

  • Different MOH for Internal and External Calls

    Is it possible to have a different MOH source for internal vs external calls.
    I know that Network MOH is for transfering but can this be used for external MOH source from the PSTN?

    There's really no way to do this easily. The issue is that the call to a PSTN phone would flow through a gateway and if an IP phone put this call on hold, then the Audio Source configured on the IP phone would determine the MoH file/source and the MRGL of the gateway would determine which MoH server it actually came from. As a result, there's really no way that the IP phone placing the call on hold could specify a different audio source for an internal call (to another IP phone) because even if the other phone has a different MRGL (and therefore a different MoH server), the MoH audio source will be the same

    If you use internal and the machine is stolen your backup is lost too.
    If it's for backing up for Business use, your insurers may insist on offsite storage, secure offsite storage that is of a backup or they wouldn't pay up.
    External is often good too because if you ever sent the machine in for repair and the fault(s) were mis-diagnosed and the engineers wiped the HD, they may wipe your backup too.
    That would be very unfortunate. At least with external it could be safe with you. Depending how important your backups are you can also 'Scale' your backup by adding more drives to backup to. So increasin odds of recovery at a later date.
