FA seeded BA and workbooks

Good morning,
Database 11g (11.1.0.7.0)
Discoverer Administrator (11.1.1.3.0)
E-Business Suite 12.1.3
Discoverer schema is 'DISCO_F'
Wa have already custom BAs, folders and workbooks.
We would like to implement the seeded Business Areas and workbooks for Fixed Assets in the EUL.
We did the following stesps
1. run request « Generate Business Views by Application » for "Assets":
Source View Name Generated View Name
FAFV_ACCT_PRDS FAFG_ACCT_PRDS
FAFV_ASSETS FAFG_ASSETS
FAFV_ASSET_ASSIGNS FAFG_ASSET_ASSIGNS
FAFV_ASSET_BKS FAFG_ASSET_BKS
FAFV_ASSET_CATS FAFG_ASSET_CATS
FAFV_ASSET_LEASES FAFG_ASSET_LEASES
FAFV_ASSET_LOCS FAFG_ASSET_LOCS
FAFV_BOOKS FAFG_BOOKS
FAFV_DEPRECIATIONS FAFG_DEPRECIATIONS
FAFV_SRC_LNS FAFG_SRC_LNS
FAFV_TRANS_HDRS FAFG_TRANS_HDRS
FAFV_TRANS_LINES FAFG_TRANS_LINES
2. for a test I copy the "fiifasstbkflo.eex" file on my local drive
3. with Oracle Administrator, I import the file with warning message. Then I assign the new orphean folder called "Asset Book" in a my new "Fixed Assets" Business Area
I check from Discoverer-Plus if I have a new workbook: No
4. with Oracle Administrator, I re-import the same file, and this time no error message: "Import sucessfully"
I check from Discoverer-Plus if I have a new workbook: No
What are the steps I missed?
Do we have to import more .eex files?
How can I check we have the latest patch of R12 seeded componants?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Regards
Oliver

Any clues to help us.
thanks in advance

  • Documenting EUL and Workbook information

Recently, my current client asked me if there was any easy way to document all the EUL information in one file. I generated the below pdf document
    Check this http://www.appsbi.com/discoverer_eul_snapshot_report.pdf
Sample Discoverer EUL and Workbook Generated Document,
but before I present this to my client I would like your opinion on whether the document is presentable, does it have all the necessary information, any flaws, any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Most of the components of this document uses the seeded EUL workbook queries. The problem with the EUL workbooks is there is still a manual process involved in running each of the worksheets whereas this document generation is completely auto and fully configurable.
    Thanks

  • How to remove connect and workbook link after pressing Save as,Print,Export

I have to remove the connect link and workbook link which appear AFTER pressing Save as,Printable Page,Export in a discoverer viewer report. I had already removed the link in the report itself with changing the uix files, but after pushing the link for export, save as or print the link Connect and Workbook still appear.
I know that I have to change something in UIX Files, but which one and what I have to change...? Have anyone an idea? Thanx for fast reply, it´s a urgent problem.
in addition: In metalink, otn and google were no solution...

If the tone really is a single (or at least narrow band) frequency like the picture shows, I'd try the Notch Filter on the Audition/Effects/Filter and EQ menu.  It might take some playing around to get the exact frequency and tweak the amount of cut you apply vs. the effect it will have on surrounding frequencies--but if you can get the right balance, you can then easily apply this to the whole of every file.
Sorry, can't help on the Premiere Pro question since I only use Audition.

  • Can seeded Elements and Balance have different Date Track

    hi,
The Elements created in our instance is date tracked to 01-JAN-1900 and the seeded balance date tracked to 01-APR-2005. Can seeded Elements and Balances have different date track both being seeded. Example Element is "PF INFORMATION" and Balance Named by "Leave Encashment"
How to resolve this problem when I am trying to add seeded Balance which is date tracked to 01-APR-2005 to Element date Tracked to "01-JAN-1900". I am not able to find the Balance in that Element as balance is date tracked later than Element.
If I want to add custom Element which is date tracked to 01-JUN-2002 and Seeded Balance which is date tracked to 01-JUN-1950. Since in this case i am not able to see the Custom Element in the Balance screen.
    Thanks
    Ram

you are not allowed to add feeds to a seeded balance type.
Can the dates be different? Sure. Look to your own dates.
By the way, why bothering about dates in 2005 and 1900, if you want to run a payroll now?

  • Transporting role menu and workbook created diurectly in production system

    Hi gurus,
We have several workbooks (and queries) that are created directly in production system. thoose workbooks are connected to a role that is created in development system and transported to production system.
Now, we would like modify this role in development then tranport it on production system, but we are afraid that will be wiped out (overwrite) our production system workbooks (because the role not contains this workbook in development).
Could you please explain to us what we have to do in order to not wiped out our production workbooks.
    Thank you in advance

thank you, it's more clear for me...
Exactly, to have all my requests and workbook in development, I tried to use "Transport order of copy (it means transport queries from Production system to development system)", then to connect them with the corresponding roles in development, but I have the think that BW considers them as new requests when I re-transport them again on the prod.)
Could you say me if i can transport my production system queries on my development system, and manage them in this system (development) in the future.
    Thank you in advance

  • Bex Default template for Queries and Workbooks

    Dear All,
We have a default template for all queries and workbooks. But this default template was created using a AP query and saved as a workbook. Now all the users having AR role are not able to execute queries or workbooks.Since this default template has a AP info provider associated with it.Is it possible convert this default workbook to a generic one without any security restrictions. Please provide a solution.

In Bex analyzer, you have option to convert a template into a default template.
Or you can create a copy of the existing template without AP infoproviders and assign it as default template.

  • RSZDELETE - Delete queries and Workbooks problem

    Hi
in BW 3.x we were able to delete the queries and workbooks with transaction RSZDELETE ;however in NW2004s we are not able to delete this,is there any limitation or this feature has been changed to another transaction ??
    Please help.

    Hi Kevin,
It's still there.  As Prakash has suggested, the note must be applied.  On a similar topic for the tcode rszc please bear in mind this will be enhanched in SPS 10.

  • Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks

    Hi,
Migration of bex 3.x queries and workbooks to Bex 7.1 queries and workbooks.
For instance when you edit, open an 3.x query in 7.0 query designer it is automatically migrated.Would it be same if we open it in 7.1 query designer? Is it possible to migrate queries and workbooks without any fail or deletion or loss?
    Thank you.

I will add to the already excellent suggestions made above that the migration from Bex 3.x to Bex 7.0 is VERY laborious. There are no automated tools.
All queries and workbooks must be identified (use this as an opportunity to get rid of unused objects)
Each query must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as needed.
Each Workbook must be converted to BI 7 and repairs done as well. The "Automated" conversion tool that SAP provides (it's behind the scenes Visual Basic) presents problems with at least 50% of the workbooks, and so they have to be manually fussed with.
If you've used Visual Basic at all in your Workbooks, you'll have to change 'em all. The On Refresh event no longer exists.
And of course, test... test.. test.. and test.
And don't forget to retrain your users. The User interface is dramatically different.
Good luck ! We're 3 months in to a five month conversion project.

  • Delete the link between the BEx Query and workbook

    Hi Experts,
I have a workbook it contains 6 querirs, now i want to delete both.
insteated of delete the first queries in workbook, i deleted directly workbook.
now its not allowing me to delete queries.
i think internally it will maintain a link in some table and there was a programme to delete that link between the queries and workbooks.
Please let me know the programme name which we can delete the links between the queries and workbooks.
    Thanks,
    Babu

Before even going for changing the table entries.
You can go to query and do "Where used" list if it refers only to the same workbook(which you deleted) then it may be inconsistency.
But the chances are the query is used in workbook or WAD etc and is present in someone else's favorites so that would make the workbook void.

  • Is there anyway to archive old queries and workbooks rather than deleting?

Our environment has thousands of old queries and workbooks.  We plan to delete any object that has not been used within 13 months, but there's a concern we may someday need a few of the reports that will be deleted.
Is there a way to archive old queries and workbooks rather than deleting them?
Is there another approach to solving this matter?
    Thanks!

    Jim
This is really a intersting question as this is a reality as many BW reports are not used/accessed by users but still they have tendancies of sitting on these reports.
I wanted to suggest to carry-out report usabilty analys. This analysis u can carry out by using BW statistics/standerd queries/new queries in technical cubes showing usability data. If u found that a perticalar BW report is not been used for long time, u can discuss the usability of this report with the report user ( as it is a normal practice of owning BW report by user/user group across industry ), if user is no longer uses it Or do not need it any more, it will be better to delete those reports, this will free up some resources and will reduce the junk. ( if user wants these queries ask him to use it or it will better to personalise report in his desktop easing him to see those reports. )
Changing the technical names of the query as suggested by Bhanu will have follwing effects.
    1. It will add more reports in repository leading to junk
    2. Old queries still be assigned to user roles, so collide with user authorisation.
hope views are clear, others are welcome to add or share their experince in this regard.
kindly assign the points if it helps.

  • Report and workbook migration

    Hi all,
what are the steps that need to be followed to migrate 3.X queries and workbooks to BI 7.0(2004s)? Or do they automatically get converted?
And is it possible to upgrade the frontend to BI 7.0 and use the new reporting (front end)functionalities, while the back end is still on 3.X?
Any insight or help would be appreciated and rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Mav

This question is a little ambiguous then as Heike and I have different interpretations. When you say "2004s backend", what do you mean? You need a 2004s spack to use the new functionalities (both backend and frontend).
Within this new stack, the old 3.x runtime exists and you can use it. Within the 2004s stack, you can use 3.x Infosource, transfer rules, update rules. I view this as a 3.x backend in a 2004s environment. So if your dataflow is using 3.x, that doesn't limit you to use only the 3.x tools. You can use the new tools.
I consider using transformations, DTP, etc as 2004s backend functionality.
So to clarify, what are you considering a 3.x backend? The technical requirement is to be on a 2004s stack, which I outlined in my original post... The delineation is the 3.x backend concept or 2004s backend concept in the new stack can both be used and that doesn't influence which frontend tools you can use.

  • Discoverer EUL and workbook documentor

Recently, my current client asked me if there was any easy way to document all the EUL information in one file. I generated the below pdf document

    http://www.appsbi.com

I have played a bit with info-captor, but to no great detail.
I agree it boils down to ease of use and ease of maintenance, but proficiency with a development tool also has a big part to play in it. Where I would choose reports or even Disco, you chose Infocaptor, and others would use yet another tool. Client requirements also play a part in it as well - mine wanted a PDF available from their intranet. So I am pushing the pdf out of OR, and making it available on the web. If they had wanted a dashboard, or something a bit more interactive, then OR was not going to be the appropriate tool.
As I mentioned in my previous post - it is a slick looking report. But as Michael commented, it looks to be directed more to an admin than an end user (which may be fine depending on the audience).
