Factory reset stuck on cogs

I've waited 20 minutes now after a factory reset. the phone will not stop moving those cogs.
I reset my phone because I have to send it back to phones4u because of a deadpixel.
Any ideas what I am suppose to do?

You can let the battery drain completely and then plug the phone into the charger.
One of our members provided a solution found on the link below so you may try it, too.

If above wouldn't help, sending the phone to a repair facility is what I suggest. You can select the support website of your country here: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/

        MrMJG,
Let's get your phone back up and running. Have you been able to try to press and hold the volume down and the power button at the same time for approximately 10 seconds? The phone should reboot for you. Is there any kind of physical or liquid damage to the device? Please keep me posted.

        Hello otter314!
Let's take a look into this to see if we can figure out what happened. When did this begin? What's the software version of the device? Do you remember what was happening with the device right before this started? Please supply me with some additional information, I'm happy to help with a resolution!

  • IP config stuck on manual after factory reset

I have several HP laserjet 1606dn's. They have been configured for static IP's and set to manual.
We have had reason to reset several, and now they have no IP, and will not change over to DHCP. we have tried factory resetting them and also updated the firmware.
    Need some help.
    thanks,

Here is an informational video on how to set that up. Once the printer is on the network you should be easily able to set a static IP from another computer on the network by accessing the embedded web server (EWS).

  • AE and closed network...deactivated my AE and won't hard or factory reset

Hi there. Simply set my AE to a closed network, but didn't get a chance to set name and password before AE shut down. Now I can't gain green light by unplugging and replugging, soft, hard or factory reset. Ugh! I can't locate AE on Airport Utility 1)b/c not up and running and 2) b/c is now set as closed network.
Can anybody tell me a trick to resetting AE beyond all the given resets?
Can I access what the closed network settings (name/password) may be?
    Thanks.

Sure... first I tried just unplugging but it plugged back in as amber light. Then I tried the reset button for 5 seconds. Then I tried for 10 seconds. Then I unplugged and plugged back in while holding reset button. I did this as outlined in the link above for resetting AE. With Admin utilities open the the settings named. The only time I can get a green light is the first moment it hits the socket, but it immediately goes solid amber. If I press and hold for 10 seconds I get 3 or 4 flashing green lights but it immediately goes amber (in this case, flashing amber)after the 3rd or 4th flashing green light.
When I connected AE via Ethernet cable, I had to hold reset for 10 sec to get flashing amber in order to view AE details in AirPort Admin Utilities. I get a flashing amber light and the base station is named in the Admin Utilities with the name,Ethernet (WAN), the AirPort ID and Apple Base Station V6.3. When I choose configure, I get the error message, "The AirPort Admin Utility was unable to read the configuration fo the selected base station. An error occurred while reading the configuration." I always get this far and get stuck.
Is it that the AE is not "green", or have I blocked access to reconfigure when I put it on a closed network? or both?
    Thanks...
    Tracy

  • Factory Reset doesn't work on Spinning Gears lumia 928

    Hello,
Last night i was struck with the Spinning Gears on my Nokia Lumia 928.  I researched it a bit to see what i could do to fix it, sadly it didn't help much. most people said to Factory Reset the phone (Up volume, down volume, power, down volume.)  But it does absolutely nothing at all. I get no ! when i reset the phone. All it does is show the word Nokia then spinning gears. People also said just reset it a few times and it will work, from wen i started counting i reset it over 30 times and let the gears spin for 8 hours. The phone doesn't charge ether but it will stay on if it is plugged in. Im out of ideas on how to fix this phone, and i rather not wait a few days for them to send me a new one IF they even do send me one.
If anyone has any ideas for me peoples let me know. Even if the idea is, you cant do anything bring it to the store thats fine i just wanna know if theres anything i can do.

I am stuck here.  I have had the Lumia 928 for about 2.5-3 months now.  I have decided to go back to Android, but want to give the phone to my son.  I went to do a Factory Reset and have been stuck on Gears for 2 days.  I have let the battery drain, removed the SIM, and did the following from the Nokia Support Site 5-6 times.  No luck, can you help?
    Step 1
Press and hold power and volume down key.
    Phone vibrates (release the keys)
Right after this press and hold the volume down key down
Exclamation mark is shown on the screen (release the volume down key)
Step 2Then input the keys in the following order:
    Volume up
    Volume down
    Power
    Volume down
    Step 3
The phone will reset and boot up automatically. Please note that this may take several minutes.

  • Problems with a new IP phone 7906 after factory reset

    Hi Guys
I am currently having problems with my new IP phone 7906 after doing factory reset and here is a video of it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvCLtwIAwVw
I used this command I found on the net:
    Hold down
while plugging in the phone and keep holding it until the message waiting indicator (red light) starts blinking.  Then
release # and type 123456789*0# in sequence.
I was trying to switch my phone to sip and it also dont want to take tftp setup either.

    Tim,
    Found this on the net
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/ts/fn/620/fn62949.html
Might be woth giving it a go
6.Pull power on the phone (even if power is PoE).
7.Hold down the # key on the phone.
8.Continue holding down the # key and re-apply power.
9.While still holding the # key wait for the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light on the handset to start flashing.
10.Once the MWI light is flashing, release the # key and enter the following sequence exactly on the keypad:
    3491672850*#
Once this sequence has been entered on the IP Phone, if all the network criteria above have been met, it should begin its recovery process. This process can take up to 15 minutes to finish. The phone may appear to be doing nothing during this time. However, if the phone does not recover after 20 minutes then it is possible that the recovery is stuck. In this case, re-examine your network and verify that steps 1-4 are in place, then re-issue the factory reset sequence.
    * Note: The factory reset sequence is a way for a phone to clear flash and still upload to a valid firmware image. This is facilitated by the termxx.default.loads file, but requires that the image files listed in the termxx.default.loads file are available in TFTP for the phone to download. Open the termxx.default.loads file in any text editor. This loads file is essentially just a packing list showing all the OS and application files the phone needs to function. The files include a cnu, cvm, dsp, app and jar files. Please make sure that these files as listed in the termxx.default.loads file are in TFTP. ("xx" will be either "06" for the CP-7906G model, or "11" for the CP-7911G model.)
    Additional Diagnostic Steps:
    - Try a hard-coded IP address as a test to see if this resolves the upgrade failures. If it does, and the number of failing IP Phones is relatively few, this procedure may be the most expedient. After the IP Phone upgrades successfully, reconfigure the IP Phone to use DHCP.
    - Try putting the phone on a hub or a different switch and see if this helps change the startup timing enough so that the upgrade completes successfully.
    Regards
    Alex

  • I did the factory reset, now my phone is REALLY jacked!

After the IceCream Sammich whatever update, my phone was possessed.  Camera came on at will, in my pocket mostly.  Calls would get stuck behind some non screen preventing me from answering, etc etc.  Superdude at VZWireless store said I had to do the factory reset, so I did.  Now, every time I try to go to Google play, it says no connection if I'm not on wi-fi.  WTH?!  My 4g showed up for like the 1st 5 minutes, now mobile network keeps saying turning on.  I can call out, but that's about all i can do.  Sync says "sync is having issues and should be back soon"!!  Really, this is the IMPROVED version?

    Couple things to try,
Take off back cover, try cleaning the metal contacts in the cover. Those are your antenna for WIFI, Mobile Net and bluetooth.
Do you have screen protector? If you do, MAKE sure it is positioned right. If it is too close to proximity sensor it will sometimes cause the screen not to come on. I had that problem with my Rezound.
I have found, just my two cents, I think touch screen phones just don't like being in pockets. They do some crazy stuff.
Rest of your issues, Like Demmo said, might be your SIM card.

  • Persistent spinning gears after factory reset. Tri...

Hi, I factory reset my phone today through the settings menu. I was having a minor problem after installing the most recent update last night and decided reluctantly that a hard reset might iron out the problems, though I wasn't looking forward to reinstalling all my apps and re-entering my info. Anyway, the phone is stuck on spinning gears and has been for hours. I see that others were having the same problem so I tried some of the solutions here. I held the volume down and power buttons simultaneously and let the phone restart. I let the power drain out and restarted it by plugging it into a charger as outlined in another post. I held the volume down button and restarted it in the hopes of seeing an exclaimation mark (!), but no joy. I held the volume down, power and camera buttons, let go of power after the phone vibrated and let go of the rest after five seconds and nothing. Can anyone help, please?

This seemed to work for me:
It took quite a few attempts, but persitance paid off. Best of luck.

Get rid of Spinning gears Screen of lumia 920... A Solution that is 100% working
Once my Lumia 920  was messed up with lots of applications and I thought of Reset it from settings menu. When phone restarted, it struck at Spinning Gears screen. I waited for 20 minutes and then i took that to Nokia Care. The Care centre was going to close in evening and they said it takes 30-45 minutes to reboot. I came back, waited for 2 hours but phone was still struck at spinning gears. Battery got drained automatically, i plugged the charger and after some time, spinning gears started again . I waited for 30 minutes again and nothing happened and then I found the solution from Net and that works perfectly.... wolla phone is back to life..Ahhh.
    Solution :
(  please read the steps first and then perform) :
    1. While gears are spinning, Press VOLUME DOWN and POWER BUTTON together, keep pressed till phone goes blank, vibrates and NOKIA appears and then release the buttons.
    2. Immediately press following buttons in sequence ONE by ONE i.e. press release..press release :
       VOLUME UP
       VOLUME DOWN
        POWER
       VOLUME DOWN
after this, phone will restart or gears will continue to spin or you will feel you are struck at NOKIA...but it wont take more than 5 minutes and your phone will be back to life.
I DID IT and you will also.. Enjoy.
Please share if u find it useful.

  • Does the iPhone 5 require a factory reset to switch from GSM to CDMA

Before I ordered my iPhone 5 from StraightTalk I explained that I wanted to use it as a CDMA (Verizon) in the US and as a GSM (Vodafone) in Europe.
I specifically asked if the phone would become a CDMA phone again when I removed the Vodafone GSM Sim after returning to the US. The answer was Yes.
The CDMA function worked well in the US and the GSM function worked equally well in Europe.
However, when I did remove the GSM card, the iPhone 5 stopped working.
According to StraightTalk, the only way to return to the CDMA function is to have them do a factory reset, which means loosing all data and downloaded apps.
Of course, nobody told me that when I asked the question.
Does anybody know if this is a requirement for every iPhone 5 or just for StraightTalk phones?

According to StraighTalk, their "resetting" will cause all data to be deleted. It does not make sense to me either.
After I removed the SIM card, the mesage in the upper right corner said "No Service".
Resetting Network Settings made no difference.
When I talked to StraightTalk they made me dial some specifice codes. TFW service showed up in the upper left corner but they could not get it to work.
My mobile number is still valid. When I dial it from a landline, I get my voicemail.
As far as I know, StraightTalk uses the Verizon network for CDMA coverage (even if it says TFW on the phone) but I don't know how they tie into that network.
The problem is that the StraightTalk people seem to work from a script that provides standard answers. They may not know what they are talking about or they they do not want to make the extra effort to resolve this problem.
Either way, I am stuck with these people. If someone can tell me what should be done, I can ask them to take the necessary actions. Otherwise, I may have go through the exercise of making sure that all data has been synced with my Mac and then download all data and apps after StraighTalk had one their thing.

Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
