Failed OSD

sccm 2012 r2
can someone take a look at this smsts.log and tell me why this OSD failed?

Thank you

Hello jamicons,
Looks like you have some problem with the driver
Failed to resolve content for driver "Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection". Code 0x80040102 OSDDriverClient 18/11/2014 09:12:03 492 (0x01EC)
If you are running SCCM 2012 R2 you have the WINPE for Windows 8.1, if you are injecting any drivers to the boot or to the TS itself please check to see if the driver is compatible, you can use DISM tool and try to add the driver to the WIM file you are
using for the deployment or if you are using the driver to the Boot image try to use DISM to it too.
Other questions could be, when did the problem started? is this the first time you are running this TS? When does it fail? Is I loading the WINPE or after the WINPE was loaded and the TS is running?
Thank you Very much,
Renato S. Pacheco

    Hi,
    I create another topic and my problem (App install during OSD) is now solved yes:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bb10bfc3-f5ec-46a6-9535-ea299266795c/strange-problem-app-install-failed-randomly-osd-sccm-2012-r2?forum=configmanagerosd#f54d0af1-2658-49ee-a57a-1ec9e2b09a3e
    You can Check "Continue on error" inside  "Options" Tab on your TS. Even if App install fail At least the rest ends well...

  • During OSD in WINPE the clients loses it's IP Address and fails

    Hello,
    Since 3 weeks we have an issue where the clients are releasing there IP address during OS Deployment, and mostly during downloading the .wim file or during the applying image. (If you try
    for 4 or 5 times it sometime passes and will be successfully deployed)
    The DHCP lease times are set to 24H. I ran a F8 and then i did a ping to the distribution server during the download / applying. What we see is that after and X moment (within 20min still
    in WinPE) the NIC looses its IP address and gets a 169.x.x.x.x.x address.
    If this happens during Applying Images (before its complete) and you manually do a ipconfig/release and /renew it successfully continues. If it happens during download it off course  stops
    instantly.
    We tested it on several routers and different configurations. All with the same result a failing OSD. We ran SCCM2012 SP1. The WinPE has the latest NIC drivers.
    Greetings

    We almost solved the problem :) Indeed DHCP is the problem. Although the config of both DHCP servers is configured the same with a lease of 24h (deployment vlan) one of the DHCP servers is giving the clients a lease time of 10 minutes. When this lease time
    expired the clients arent automatic renewing the lease and Deployment will fail.
    DHCP config is renewed and coded with different lease time but still clients get 10min lease.
    More on Monday :)

    1) enable f8 boot console on your boot image:  http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/546-how-can-i-troubleshoot-windows-pe-booting-in-sccm/  this will get you to a command prompt on the client
    2) look at the smsts.log for exactly why your client is failing osd:  http://blogs.technet.com/inside_osd/archive/2007/12/13/troubleshooting-tips.aspx
    3) also look at the reports for information as to why your OSD is failing:  http://blogs.technet.com/inside_osd/archive/2007/12/13/troubleshooting-tips.aspx

    Hi,
    Its not the Boot image what has problems. Its one single OS package as others workjust fine

    lol... ok... but enabling F8 will allow you to get to the smsts.log which should contain some more information about why the single OS package is failing.

    OK, it looks like (as descripted in the logs) that the Hash Value for the package GID00004 is not correct.
    I've seen this before with Boot WIMS, if GID00004 is a boot WIM package, then try creating a new Boot Wim, deploying it to the relevant DPs, assigning it to th TS and try again.
    If GID00004 is not a Boot WIM, then try updating the package, and keep an eye on DistMgr.log to ensure it get's distributed Ok.

    I have the log file from the F8 boot atached

    OK, now the package with an hash error is GID0002A .. which is the OS Install Package, Check the source directory for files with odd characters, or extremely long directory paths .. this can sometime cause a hash-check mismatch.
    Hash could not be matched for the downloded content. Original ContentHash = A9173DC49D149170C0F7F5526154AC4381ED0DC0, Downloaded ContentHash = 88601C0BA124401EA13790D2F318AF04CB283DD1      ApplyOperatingSystem

    Update the distribution points of the package that was failing. I have had this same problem and a distribution point update will fix it.

    This is mostly the error that is there when we try to give a startup after a shutdown.Most probably its a temporary error.I faced it once but there was nothing relevant that I could find for it.What I tried was shutdown,wait for some time and again startup.
    For the second error message, you have issues with your control file.As others already have asked, is your controlfile available and read/writeable?

  • How can I to repair this Index corruption??

    Hi.
    I´m working with Oracle 9.2.0.7.0 on Windows 2003 SP2.
    I´ve a corruption issue on a PK index that I not am able to repair...
    I´ve detected it when I tried make a RMAN backup.This is the message:
    RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 03/02/2012 10:12:45
    ORA-19566: exceeded limit of 0 corrupt blocks for file...
    Then, I try to rebuild the index, but I get the following errors;
    ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file 8 (block # 447127)
    ORA-01110: data file 8: 'F:\ORACLE\ORADATA\INDEXES02.DBF'
    ORA-27091: unable to queue I/O
    ORA-27070: async read/write failed
    OSD-04006: ReadFile() failure, unable to read from file
    O/S error : (OS 121) The semophore timeout period has expired.
    The next step was to connect to rman catalog and try to recover that block:
    RMAN> blockrecover datafile 8 block 447127;
    Starting blockrecover at 02-FEB-12 using channel ORA_DISK_1
    Finished blockrecover at 02-FEB-12
    I try to rebuild index again but I´ve the same errors but on block 447128 this time...
    I do a new blockrecover and try to do a new rebuild index but it fails on block 447129...
    I´ve repeated this procces many times until arrive to block 447134. On this block, I have done a blockrecover correctly but when I do a rebuild index it fails on the same block again.
    Finally, after many retries, when I do a new rebuild but in this case, i get a
    ORA-08103: object no longer exists
    ...is absurd. The object yet exist!!
    Then I did BACKUP VALIDATE DATABASE from Rman catalog, and then query the view v$database_block_corruption.
    FILE# BLOCK# BLOCKS CORRUPTION_CHANGE# CORRUPTION_TYPE
    8 447120 5 0 ALL ZERO
    8 447125 1 0 FRACTURED
    2 rows selected.
    I don´t know what mean this... Anyway when I try to make BLOCKRECOVER CORRUPTION LIST; rman returns:
    RMAN-06026: some targets not found - aborting restore
    RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 8 found to restore
    and it´s true...I only have backup of the archivelogs...
    Then, I decided to try something different using DBMS_REPAIR.
    I created the REPAIR_TABLE with this script:
    BEGIN
    SYS.DBMS_REPAIR.ADMIN_TABLES (
    TABLE_NAME => 'REPAIR_TABLE',
    TABLE_TYPE => SYS.dbms_repair.repair_table,
    ACTION => SYS.dbms_repair.create_action,
    TABLESPACE => 'USERS');
    END;
    Then try save the information of bad blocks in the table...
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    DECLARE num_corrupt INT;
    BEGIN
    num_corrupt := 0;
    SYS.DBMS_REPAIR.CHECK_OBJECT (
    SCHEMA_NAME => 'MYSCHM',
    OBJECT_NAME => 'PK_CORX2',
    REPAIR_TABLE_NAME => 'REPAIR_TABLE',
    CORRUPT_COUNT => num_corrupt);
    SYS.DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('number corrupt: ' || TO_CHAR (num_corrupt));
    END;
    ...but I get
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_REPAIR", line 284
    now, I include the OBJECT_TYPE parameter
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    DECLARE num_corrupt INT;
    BEGIN
    num_corrupt := 0;
    SYS.DBMS_REPAIR.CHECK_OBJECT (
    SCHEMA_NAME => 'MYSCHM',
    OBJECT_NAME => 'PK_CORX2',
    OBJECT_TYPE => 'INDEX_TYPE',
    REPAIR_TABLE_NAME => 'REPAIR_TABLE',
    CORRUPT_COUNT => num_corrupt);
    SYS.DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('number corrupt: ' || TO_CHAR (num_corrupt));
    END;
    and then, message is
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error string. Causa: An arithmetic, numeric, string, conversion, or constraint error occurred.
    ORA-06502 in line 4
    I don´t know how to fix that...
    The only thing that occurs to me is shutdown the instance, export the table, drop the table, import again and then recreate index... but I prefer not to stop the database because it is production, And I'm not sure this will solve the problem...
    Have anybody any suggestion??? will be attentively listened...
    note: I also did a scandisk of the unit if there were errors on the disk ...
    Thanks everybody.
    Regards

    Thank you everybody. I'll try to answer all the questions...
    Normally I´m doing backups by Rman and I´m complementing it with a full export every days.
    Because the Rman backup fails due to the file corruption for several days ago I have only EXP backups in this moment.
    On the other hand I agree with you Girish Sharma. The problem seems to be generated by a OS failure and I've tried to check it.
    A significant fact is that when copying the file to another drive using OS commands, the copy fails with the message "Cannot Copy File- Path Too Long". Obviously that not is the real problem because the path is short, equal al rest of the files... Also, I can copy files from the same folder without problem.
    The HDD is configured in RAID 1, I think if this were a hardware failure of a HD, the other should be functioning properly, so I conclude it must be a file system failure. So I did an scandisk on the unit but does not seem to have solved nothing.I guess the damage is already done at the logical level of data ...
    Ok, finally I found the mode to place tablespace offline and then disable the constraint and drop the index. After this I´ve created the index in other tablespace.
    I thought that this would solve the problem, but when I tried to make a level 0 backup with RMAN it fails with the same error. Nothing has changed...
    ...well, not really. there's something that have changed.
    Alert.log show that the corruption is on file 8 block 447120, as before... but when I go to locate the object affected, this does not exist.
    SELECT segment_name , segment_type , owner , tablespace_name
    FROM sys.dba_extents
    WHERE file_id =8
    AND 447120 BETWEEN block_id and block_id blocks -1;
    no rows selected.
    I'm not sure how to interpret this... the index is now in another tablespace, and I´ve checked doing a rebuid of it, however, the datafile still corrupt and not let me do full backups...

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the 64-bit version, the 32-bit version, repaired, stopped and started services, changed KEY_XE.reg, and the properties of the Get Started URL. No luck so far. Please let me know what I can do.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for getting back to me so quickly!
    When I signed in to Event Viewer, I got an error message that my event services weren't running, so I downloaded this fix from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2478117
    That started my Event Services and allowed me to sign into Event Viewer and clear my logs. They are all clear now.
    Then I repaired my version of 11G and rebooted, but am still unable to connect to the database or the Get Started URL.

    regardsNo.
    So just create a new database. That will take all of ten minutes. And tell your students to create new tablespaces. That will take them two minutes.

  • Error 12528, instance BLOCKED, and ORA-01033 error

    I'm a student, just getting started with Oracle, and my teacher is not very helpful with the install/running problems that I'm having with Oracle.
    I installed Oracle 11g Express a week ago, and upon installing it, the software worked just fine. I was able to create connections and write basic select statements to get data from a database provided by the manufacturer of my textbook.
    Now, when I try to connect to the database, I get an error that says "ORA_12528, TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections."
    I did a little research on how to fix this, and got into the listener to see its status. Here's what it says:

    After doing more googling, I found someone suggested that logging on to SQL*Plus as sysdba and then shutting down and restarting the database might do something to fix this, but when I try to log in it doesn't work... here's what I see in SQL*Plus:

    I have no idea what's going on here, and unfortunately, since I'm a student and have just started with Oracle, I can't seem to make heads or tails of most of what I'm finding on the forums here (and most of the threads that seem pertinent are 6 or more years old).
    If anyone out there can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

    Srini -
    I did take a look at the link you posted and I tried to do what it said, but I don't really know what to make of what I found. When I run services.msc I find the following are running:
    OracleJobSchedulerXE, OracleMTSRecoveryService, OracleServiceXE, OraclexEClrAgent, and OracleXETNSLisnener
    So it appears that the Oracle Service is running... probably not the problem.
    With regards to the logs, I don't know how to do what you suggested (make the log bigger, allow for overwrites, etc.).
    I tried to follow the suggestions from the link you posted and get into the event viewer, but when I enter "eventviewer" in the run window my machine can't find it. I tried other methods I found online to get into the event viewer, but it appears as though my computer doesn't offer me access to it (or simply doesn't have that capability). Are there other ways to clear old logs? Can I just open it as a text file and delete the contents? I don't want to make a mess out of things, and I really don't know what I'm doing so any guidance would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
