Fast EtherChannel between Catalyst 3750 and 2821 Router
Hi Guys
I'm trying to setup a Fast EtherChannel between a cat3750-smi and a 2821 router that consists of only 2 links.
I am following instructions per TAC, but I'm getting an error along the way;
On the cat3750:
interface port-channel 1
no switchport
Command Rejected: Not a convertable port
Can anyone help???
Also... do the IP Addresses for the EtherChannel need to be the same for both port-channels? Or do I assign the switch like 192.168.1.1 and the router 192.168.1.2 ?
Thanks!
Adam
Hi Adam,
The ip address cannot be same but it should belong to same subnet. So one side 192.168.1.1 and other side 192.168.1.2 will work fine.
Its better to convert your layer 2 port as a layer port fist so what you do the port which you want to be port channel go that that interface and convert with "switchport" command
once it is a layer 3 port configure with channel group and automatically layer 3 port channel will be created and you can sssign an ip address then.
Just give a try and update if it works.

Ankur

How to make optical connectivity between Catalyst 4948 and 10K router ?
Hi,
I am Ratheesh P D, network Manager of one project in Motorola. We have one catalyst 4948. Its going to get one 10K router. Our requirement needs optical connection between these two. The document of 4948 says, its compatible with 1000BaseX SFP and 10K is with 1000BaseSX SFP. Could you please tell me how to make these two compatible? For information regarding the optical connectivity in 4948 cat switch follow the url ,

Cannot Establish Gigabit Link Between Catalyst Switches and GSR Router
The GSR Gigabit interface is configured for no negotiation auto and the line protocol goes up when connected to the Catalyst switch.
The Catalyst switch port remains unconnected even when it is physically attached to the GSR router. The flow control settings must match on both sides for the link to come up. It is highly recommended that you configure auto-negotiation to on for both devices. (Auto-negotiation is enabled by default on all Catalyst switches.) Otherwise, if you have a layer 1 problem, the link remains up and a unidirectional link will result.
The initial software releases that support Gigabit Ethernet on the GSR router do not support gigabit auto-negotiation.
The following command configures gigabit auto-negotiation on the Catalyst 6000/6500:

Interconnecting Catalyst 3750 and 2948G-L3
I am trying to interconnect a Catalyst 3750 and a 2948G-L3 using fiber GBIC. The interfaces where the GBIC and fiber are attached show up as physically down. I have tried different ports and also changed both switches. No Luck. If I connect a 3524 to the 3750 using the same connection it works.
Are 2948G-L3 switches compatible with the 3750?
Thanks,
VTShould have no problem. Can you try the following on the 3750's gig interface:

WAAS network module and 2821 router?
What WAE network modules will work in a 2821 router? This 2821 has a dual-T1 Multipoint connection back to our data center and I know that the users will benefit greatly from WAAS, but I'd rather not have to upgrade the router to a 3800 just to install a WAE module
NME-WAE-502 will give you full functionality with the enterprise licence. This is the NME that is the most widely used for WAAS.
NME-WAE-302 is available, but only supports the transport license which give you TCP optimizations only (no application AO support).
NME-WAE-522 is only supported in the 3800 series routers.
Hope that helps,

Using 3750 switches & 2821 router for video & http qos
Hello all,
I know that the 3750 switches and 2821 routers are aging platforms, though, was curious if it they are capable of providing QoS for video (such as WebEx) and HTTP/HTTPS, in addition to voice traffic?
ThanksThank you Reza.
One reason we're looking into this, is that we wanted to see if we could give priority to traffic destined for, and arriving from, certain servers (in addition to certain classes of traffic). Is that possible? Most of our switches have IPBase images (12.2(55)SE1).

802.1x between Switch 3750 and ACS 4.2 Authentication faild --need help
I configured the Switch 3750 and ACS for 802.1x authentication.
when I used the windows as the 802.1x client, it prompted "click here to enter user name and pasword for the network " as normal.
The problem is that after I entered username and password (i am sure i enter the identical username and password as in ACS) the authentication failed,
What is the most possibly problem?
Thx in advance!!!

Etherchannel suspended between Catalyst 4948 and VSS 6506E
Hello,
I describe an issue when i need to performe an L2 or L3 Etherchannel from a Catalyst 4948 IOS Enterprise and 2 xCatalyst 6506E bandled with VSS.
From the VSS Side when i plug cables i see on the physicals and Etherchannel that Physical and protocole layer are up. On the 4948 side,
I see that physical layer is up and protocol and Etherchannel interfaces are down.
On the Etherchannel port summary i see that the port state is supended.
On the first attempt, i have test with a L3 etherchannel on both side using no switchport with two IP addresses one at each side on etherchannel interfaces.
The etherchannel are bundled with LACP mode active and on the second attempt with PAGP mode ON.
The same configured on VSS 6506E work fine with Catalyst 3560E.
Please do you have any idea?Hi David, when ı type "no mls qos channel-consistency" under port-channel
the issue was solved. But ı am not comfortable with that, Because ı want to use Qos feature

Disable Multicast MAC Addr restricted in Catalyst 3750 and C3560G
Hi All,
I'm using Cisco 3750 Catalyst and C3560G, recent days ago i purchased a pair of WatchGuard Firewalls and put in the system to run HA Active/Active model.
The requirement to run WatchGuard Firewall HA A/A model is to allow ARP request if the response contains a multicast MAC Address in Routers and Switches.
I read somewhere that Routers and layer 3 switches, the default behavior is to follow RFC 1812, which says that the routers must not believe any ARP reply that claims that the link later address of another host or router is a broadcast or multicast address.
Can you pl show me the command to Allow all Multicast MAC Address for interfaces? Or disable RFC 1812 in order to get WatchGuard Firewall works properly.
Here is the information from WatchGuard firewall: "When you configure WatchGuard FireCluster in an active/active configuration, the cluster uses multicast MAC addresses for all interfaces that send network traffic. Before you enable FireCluster, make sure your network switches, routers, and other devices are configured to route network traffic with multicast MAC addresses.
Pl help. Thanks.Disclaimer

My experience on 3750 has been generally only a reload will clear the detailed MLS QoS stats.
However, I thought could could clear the interface stats, although, if not, might be a bug in your IOS version (you didn't note actual 3750 model or specific IOS version being used).
Lastly, the interface stats don't clear at all? Reason I ask, disabling QoS doesn't preclude you still getting drops. -

wccp version 2Hi,
This counter on the 3750 is a software counter, but all WCCP redirection should be happening in hardware. Thus, it is expected the number of redirected packets to be zero or very low. The proper way to tell if WCCP is redirecting traffic to your WAE is to issue the command "show wccp gre" on the WAE and look for the line "transparent non-GRE packets received."
Example:
pdi-7341-19#sh wccp gre
Transparent GRE packets received: 0
Transparent non-GRE packets received: 28887345
Transparent non-GRE non-WCCP packets received: 0
Total packets accepted: 26012975
Invalid packets received: 0
Packets received with invalid service: 0
Packets received on a disabled service: 0
Packets received too small: 0
Packets dropped due to zero TTL: 0

Issue with materialized view and fast refresh between Oracle 10g and 11g
Hi all,
I've hit a problem when trying to create a fast-refreshable materialized view.
I've got two databases, one 10.2.0.10, another 11.2.0.1.0, running on 32-bit Windows. Both are enterprise edition, and I'm trying to pull data from the 10g one into the 11g one. I can happily query across the database link from 11g to 10g, and can use complete refresh with no problem except the time it takes.
On the 10g side, I've got tables with primary keys and m.v. logs created, the logs being of this form ...
CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON table WITH PRIMARY KEY INCLUDING NEW VALUES
On the 11g side, when I try to create an m.v. against that ...
CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW mv_table REFRESH FAST WITH PRIMARY KEY AS SELECT col1, col2 FROM table@dblink;
... I get an ORA-12028 error (materialized view type is not supported by master site).
After running the EXPLAIN_MVIEW procedure it shows this;
REFRESH_FAST_AFTER_INSERT not supported for this type mv by Oracle version at master site
A colleague has managed to build a fast-refresh m.v. from the same source database, but pulling to a different one than I'm using; his target is also 10g, like the (common) source, so I've no idea why I'm getting the 'not supported' message whilst he isn't.
I've been able, on previous projects, to do exactly what I'm trying to achieve but on those someone with more knowledge than me has configured the database!
I'm now stumped. I'm also no DBA but despite that it's been left to me to install the new 11g database on the 32-bit Windows server from scratch, so there are probably a couple of things I'm missing. It's probably something really obvious but I don't really know where to look now.
If anyone can give me any pointers at all, I'd be really grateful. This question is also duplicated in the Replication forum but hasn't had any replies as yet, so I'm reproducing it here in hope!
Thanks in advance,
SteveHi Steve,
You should have a look at metalink, Doc ID 1059547.1
If that does not help, there may be something else in Mater note ID 1353040.1

Catalyst 3750 and jumbo frames
We're looking to implement a gigabit segment with a 3750 switch, with the latest apple imac G5 clients connected and and an xserve G5 connected doing link aggregation using a 4 port smalltree NIC.
Although the Xserve supports jumbo frames i believe the imac NICs DON'T support jumbo frames although the operating system does( the imac NICs DO support 1000T ) Ideally we'd want the 3750 switch to be configured for Jumbo frames. The 3750 switch we've chosen has all ports of 10/100/1000T with the SMI, so all ports will have the MTU set at 9000 if we enable jumbo.
Although the Xserve will be fine, i'm worried about traffic that ingresses from the xserve and egresses out to a 10/100/1000 port to which an imac is connected which i believe does not support Jumbo frames. What are the issues in terms of connectivity and dropped packets for an imac G5 connected to a 3750 ?
seeing as the MTU is set globally and all our ports are gigabit, and machines will be connected to these ports that don't support jumbo but are advertised as having 'gigabit capability'
Sorry if these sounds like an incoherent rant, but i needed to provide as much info as possible. Help much appreciatedjust to add, in comparison HP gigabit switches can do jumbo vlan on a per vlan and per port basis it's a shame the 3750 can't do that

Etherchannel between a server and 2 switches
I have a customer who has a switch with channel groups set up. Each server has 4 nics going to their 3560 and there is a channel group set up for each server. They want to add another 3560. Can I spread the channel groups across the 2 switches? So each server will have 2 connections to each switch?
Etherchannel to one server should not be and cannot be spread across 2 switches. If the server happens to use the same MAC and IP address on all 4 ports , it would cause switches to report mac address flapping. Etherchannel is point to point technology.
But if you want to create 2 separate etherchannel to 2 different switches , that should be fine. e.g 2 ports on a server is in 1 port channel and going to 1 switch and 2 ports in a separate channel going to a second switch is fine. One channel should not be spread across 2 different switches.
Hope this helps.
