Faulty Home Button

Hi everybody, I have a problem. Last Saturday I clicked my home button and all of a sudden it just got stuck and is now jammed in. My question is if apple will replace this since I bought it as of August 2011 last year so I'm still under warranty. I bought my iPod Touch 4th gen in Canada, and I would like to know that If I send it to an apple store down here in Mexico if my warranty and stuff from canada would still be valid, if I have to pay for anything how much will it cost? What would be the reason of the cost? How long will it take to send the iPod in and potentially get a replaced iPod or my iPod with a new home button back?
Help would be appreciated.

If the issue persists the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

FAULTY HOME BUTTON AFTER 2.2

I have been having this problem when I hit the home button right after I updated to 2.2 its been like if it had a software delay problem, but its gotten worst and worst, over the months of its new update release, so i decided to give it a restore, well that got it worst, then it did a complete erase and guess what that got it to point where the home button doesn´t even work anymore there is a huge bug on the new 2.2 release with the home button I hope apple get it fix. because I never had a problem with this ipod touch first gen till now with the update since 2.0

I could tell you this if it happen just right after the guarantee, or if it is still in guarantee you still have the possibility to get a new ipod if you live in the states go to the apple store and talk to a genius if this is the case then you have the right to replace it for a new one, I just had mine died out on me right after a year of use which is what apple give as to guarantee mine had a year and two months but all **** broke lose when I upgraded to 2.1, its been giving me problems with the home button, so I went to the shop where I got it in spain and they had it check and I was told that the home button is faulty physically, and that I needed to talk to apple to get an extension guarantee and they are going to replace it for me.
On the second hand watch out with the screen also when I took off the iSkin screen protector and silicon cover, I wipe it clean with the cloth and I think something was in the cloth that scratch the top of the screen where it is black, not on top of the middle of the screen and guess what it had just gotten a minor gouge which something was in the iPod touch black cloth while I try to clean all finger prints and slanted it slightly to see if the screen was clean and saw a curvy swigle line that wouldn´t go away and yes it had some deep little gouge so watch out people the glass on all ipod touch and iphone are not scratch proof.

Faulty home button on 5G iPod touch?

I purchased a white 32GB fifth-gen iPod touch last January through Amazon. The home button has worked intermittently since. Sometimes it won't work for 5 minutes at a time, sometimes it works perfectly. Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm thinking of returning it to the Apple Store, but I'm worried that it might be not qualifying for a replacement, especially since it's from Amazon.
As a side note, the headphone jack has gradually stopped working and I was wondering if this was happening with other units as well.

Most likely faulty Home Button Flex or faulty Dock Assembly. All iPhone 4S have Warranty, make Genius Reservation and take to Apple for Warranty Service. If you want work-around, use Assistive Touch. Tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > ON > Tap new white screen button at bottom > tap Home icon.

Virtual home button in notification menu?

I've been using the assistive touch helper so I don't have to use the actual home button as much (i've had to replace 3 ipod touches because of faulty home buttons) and I'm wondering if anyone else agrees that a virtual home button in the notifaction drop-down menu rather than being on the screen all the time would be a great way to exit apps and not have to click that button so much. Just like moving the assitive touch home button feature to the drop down menu. I can tell you that using a vitual home button seems so much more "apple" and it wouldn't be that hard to do.

Putting an iPhone into recovery mode means i need the home button to function properly. I am not putting it into recovery mode because of the faulty home button. I was just wondering if I could put the iPhone into recovery mode in a way which doesn't use the home button.
I guess i will just end up going to apple.

They might be able to. If it's an iPad 2 then it is still within the warranty period, so as long as it's due to accidental damage it might be fixed/replaced free of charge. Have you tried contacting Apple ? I don't know what country you are in, and whether you are near an Apple store, but you could try looking on this page for your service options.
Before you do that you could try a reset and see if it that helps : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons (assuming that it works) for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My ipad screen will not come on, it gets a little brighter when the home button is pressed but nothing else happens. Is it faulty?

My iPod Touch 5th generation is faulty, first the home button stopped working and now it's died completely, won't charge but I can feel the screen is heated. What is going on with this thing?

I bought this iPod mid-March, I've only had it for a little less than 5 months. I bought it at Best Buy, I don't know if that matters or anything- I have a geek squad and apple warranty. I'm only nineteen years old and this was my first real big purchase and I'm very disappointed. I've had other iPods before and never had any issues with them, my last one lasted from 2008 - 2013. I take very good care of my iPod Touch, never dropped it or anything of the sort and I keep it in a thick case. This iPod worked fine up until recently. First the home button became unresponsive, I had to activate the assistive touch because I use this iPod for school work. I was about to take my iPod into Best Buy so they could take a look at it and see if there was anything they could do before I contacted apple, but now my iPod is completely dead. It won't respond at all. I had to disconnect the charger because the iPod screen was getting hot and it wasn't charging. It's been disconnected for a few hours and the screen still feels hot. I'm really concerned, especially with recent news reports of handheld devices overheating and burning people or even exploding. Will the apple warranty cover this so I can get a new iPod? What are my options?

Husbands and my iPhone 4 home button faulty at same time.

My husband I noticed that the home button was unusable at the same time and then started working again at the same time. We both had a good signal and were in the same room. Today the same thing happened didn't work then did around the same time..

I checked with my daughter and her home button has been having problems during the times we have had them too. Does anybody think this is all just coincidental?

I am having problems with getting my ipod touch home button to work properly. Is this a new issue or is it simply because I have used it so much? I don't remember it happening after a software update.

Yes, I understand that. But The screen issue is not a result of user damage. The phone was not dropped when the screen got cracked. My daughter was standing in a chair at the table and dropped one of her toys onto the bottom of the phone and cracked it right by the home button. (Nowhere near the LCD/digitizer flex cables, connections, or logic board components) then a few months later my phone had died, I plugged it in, it showed it was charging, then Apple logo disappeared and screen didn't work. AFTER contacting Apple about the issue and them telling me that it "is a result of the very minimal crack to the sheet of glass that has no relation to the LCD or Digitizer and that the warranty does not cover it I had taken it upon myself to change the LCD/digitizer to no avail, as well as backlight ic and backlight coil to no avail. But how do I go about letting Apple know that it is in fact NOT due to the cracked screen nor is it due to the flex cable connections? I can't. So the lady that works the call center phones trying to "convince" me that she knows what she is talking about and "convince" me that it is from the cracked screen I have to take her word because I can't show Apple that its not because of that without paying them $199 to fix the screen in which case they will just send me a new phone rather than fix the faulty hardware under warranty.

IPhone4 will not turn on. Tried reboot with home button and power button, and tried with sim out. Left on charge for an hour and nothing. Tried plugged into PC and nothing. Tried holding any and all buttons one at a time and plugging into PC and nothing.

This is for my wife's iPhone 4
She was on a call and went to end the call and the phone just turned off.
Left it on charge for an hour or so and nothing.
I tried the old reboot (home button and power button) and nothing
I tired with the sim out.
And with it plugged into a PC, opened iTunes and it didn't recognize that the phone was plugged in.
I tried my PC and nothing.
My phone charges and connects to both PC's
Tried holding the home button then plugging into PC
Tried holding the power button then into PC
I've now been trying different combinations for about 3 hours and now I'm all out of ideas.... :(
Please please can some help before Tuesday when I will have to find someone to repair it.

Sounds like faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple for quick (minutes) free battery diagnostic testing. If you have Warranty or AppleCare the problem will be covered.

Home button not working on iPad 2

I gad my iPad 2 for Christmas last year, so 11 months.
Last month I started to get an issue where my home button wouldn't work. I admit I ignored it for a bit, but it can no longer be avoided.
I'm so disappointed and hate faulty goods, so I now hardly use the iPad, which is a shame because I'd more or less disregarded the laptop in favour of this piece of kit.
I just don't know how to mend it and return it to its loved status again.
I was going to buy one for my husband for Christmas this year, but I've been totally put off.
Can anyone help with an easy fix? Is it to do with the update to iOS 6 as that seems to be the link?
In addition, the thing will no longer connect to my air printer, saying none found!

Calibrate Home button
1. Open a stock application e.g. Calendar or Youtube
2. Hold down the power button until the "slide to power off" control appears
3. as soon as you see it, press the home button and keep it pressed until the red slider disappears and the app is force quit to the home menu
