  • Publish RD Gateway and Web Access with One-Time Password (OTP) / Two-factor Authentication WITHOUT ISA/TMG server

    Hi everybody,
I've been struggeling with this problem for a few weeks now and can't find a way to solve it.
We have an RD farm (Server 2012) which consists of two Remote Desktop Servers with Connection Broker and Web Access.
I've recently published a new server, containing RD Gateway and Web Access in our perimeter network.
Now we've got restrictions that OTP/2FA must be used for the external deployment and we've decided to go for a solution from Gemalto.
The "program" is called IDConfim and the server is called SA Server (Strong Authentication).
Also it's important that NO ISA/TMG server is supposed to be used, the OTP/2FA is supposed to work seamless with the Web Access/Gateway.
After hours discuss we came to a point were their NPS agent setup would be the only way to accomplish our goals.
The setup is supposed to be like this:
    LAN:
    1 DC (2008 R2)
    RD Farm (2012)
    1 SA Server (2012)
    DMZ:
    RD Gateway/Web Access (2012)
Were Gateway and Web Access should forward the authentications with NPS to the NPS agent on the SA server.
When you print your AD account to authenticate you add the 6 digits of OTP which you recieve from you mobile app.
Initially this seems to work, the Gateway forwards the request to the remote NPS server, BUT only if you write the correct AD password
    (without the OTP extension).
If you write the correct AD password the authentication is forwarded to out SA Servern and it's beeing rejeced because the password doesn't
    contain the correct OTP extension.
    The problem comes here.
When you write you AD password along with the OTP extension you get a Windows Security error in the eventlog (On thw Gateway server) like this:
An account failed to log on.
    Subject:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account Name: -
    Account Domain: -
    Logon ID: 0x0
    Logon Type: 3
    Account For Which Logon Failed:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account Name: user
    Account Domain: domain
    Failure Information:
Failure Reason: Unknown username or password.
    Status: 0xc000006d
    Sub Status: 0x0
    Process Information:
    Caller Process ID: 0x0
    Caller Process Name: -
    Network Information:
    Workstation Name: server
    Source Network Address: 192.168.x.x
    Source Port: 63003
    Detailed Authentication Information:
    Logon Process: NtLmSsp
    Authentication Package: NTLM
    Transited Services: -
    Package Name (NTLM only): -
    Key Length: 0
This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.
The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.
The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).
The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.
The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.
The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.
    - Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.
    - Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
    - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.
What i can see it's a NTLM error, but hey?! aren't we supposed to forward all authentication handeling to the remote NPS server?
The problem is that no matter what i try the above problem stays there.
Is it not possible to just forward ALL authentication handeling to a remote server?
The only solution I've found to get it working someday in the future is this:
"Remote Desktop Pluggable Authentication and Authorization", which is supposed to be introduced in 2012 R2.
    Also this link describes it:
    http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ProjectName=rdsdev&ReleaseId=3745
Please, bring me some answers before my head explodes! :)
PS, long question = maybe some errors, ask me if something is unclear.

    Hi,
Based on our experience, if the NTLM error occurs, please check the password.

    Mike

  • POTS/Analog Dial Access with PVDM3 and 3900? Possible?

    I have a PVDM3-16, 3925 and HWIC-CE1T1-PRI.
I have a T1 terminating in the HWIC and the other end goes to an ATLAS 800. I dial into it with an analog v.92 modem. It provides dial-tone and a phone numbering setup. Sort of a self-contained phone system in-a-box.
My old, existing, setup is an AS5200 hanging off of that same ATLAS, on another T1 port.
All I want to do is dial in and establish a PPP session. Simple on the AS5200. Not so much with the PVDM3.
I have seen all sorts of documentation about doing this with a PVDM2, but not with a PVDM3. I assume the "3" would have all of the features of the "2" with newer ones to boot.
My main problem is figuring out how to refer to the 16 "modems" in my router. The PVDM2 docs note the line numbers created when it is installed in X800 series routers, but I have found no such documentation for the PVDM3. Also, I am having some conceptual difficulty getting my mind around modems that don't have hardware support. In the AS5200's modem cards, I can deal with actual "line" commands, however, I assume that the digital modems in the PVDM3 don't generate that. Is that correct?
If anyone is using PVDM3 modems to support POTS/Analog dial-in via a channelized T1 or PRI, I would greatly appreciate any direction you can provide.
I'm not asking for someone to essentially configure it for me. I'd be happy knowing how to setup the PVDM3 to act like run of the mill analog modems and maybe some insight into how that translates into async line references.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Paolo,
    Thank you for your reply.
I can't actually find any documentation that differentiates between a PVDM2 and a PVDM2-XXDM. As far as I can see, the "XX" is the number of modems contained on the card. Like PVDM2-12DM, where "12" replaces the generic "XX". Is this not the case? Are "PVDM2"s and "PVDM2-12DM"s, for example, two different SKUs?
I had heard, but have not yet found supporting info online, that the PVDM2s have been announced as EOS.
I have seen the PVDM EOS/EOL announcement onnline.

  • How can I create public AND private access with a wireless VPN router?

I am thinking about getting one of the new pre-n wireless routers that has a builtin VPN.  I will need to have a private net for my office and a public net for my customers.  On the private side- my employees will need to access all network resources and servers etc.  On the public side, my customers just need to get to the Internet and maybe print on that side too.
    Both sides will be DHCP.
Can I set this up with 1 device ro do I need 2?  How can I do this?  Any help is greatlu appreciated.
    Thanks all.
Message Edited by Gman on 10-14-200607:08 PM

The only safe way to do this is to creat user groups On your server and give specific assess to the users who log into the network.
Using a single router , bifurcating a public from a private network is not possible. You will not be able to use the VPN since the users hav e to be connected to the VPN to log into your network.

  • Can you control switch and router access with AD (Kerberos)

I am standing up a small environment with less than 20 switches and I want to configure the authentication so that dedicated Active Directory accounts provide access to the switches. We are not going to be able to put up an ACS box, and I don't want to use RADIUS unless I have to. Since both AD and Cisco support Kerberos, is it possible to us an AD group to control access to my switches and routers?

    Sam,
Have you looked at these at Cisco?

  • Troubleshooting SharePoint Auth prompts and Anonymous access with Fiddler - Is there a better way?

I've troubleshooted (troubleshot?) many SharePoint sites for anonymous and random authentication prompts. It usually winds up being something not checked in or published, but sometimes it's something more random, like a survey list based on a template from
another site prompting for auth even when configured for anonymous access, but when created manually, question by question, works fine for anonymous, and other random things I've run into in the past. In these situations, I almost always break out Fiddler,
and then almost always move on to the tried and true method of "trying different things" until getting it to work.
Because Fiddler almost never, in my experience, produces actionable results pointing at a specific file or problem. Am I alone? And if not, does anyone have anything better they've used over time?
    Thanks!

That is as close as you're going to get to the element that isn't loading, although if it is a reference in a page, you should see the error when attempting to load the reference.

  • Can't get internet access with WRT54G router

I recently purchased a used WRT54G. I replaced my old wired linksys router with it and my hosts are able to get dhcp addresses from the router, but they cannot access the Internet. I have tried to use dchp release and renew buttons under the status tab in the router's web-based gui to get a public IP address, but can't get one. I have attempted to reset the router to its factory settings, but I still can't get the public IP. I have no problem getting an IP and Internet access with my old router and the WRT54G works if I disable its dchp and daisy chain it to the old one. Maybe I need to do something else for a complete reset of the router. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jack

the router that you just purchased was maybe configured for a different network before that's why it did not work initially. after making the router back to its' factory defaults, you should reconfigure or set-up the router.. If you have CABLE ISP, enable ''mac address clone'' on the router's set-up page under the set-up tab. then check if you can get a public ip address after that.

  • SPA 3102: Troubles with fax machine connected to SPA and dialing by IP PBX

    Afternoon!
I have a fax machine connected to the SPA3102 and i have configured an extension from the IP PBX, that it's working as a fax, so the problem here is that sometimes when i'm sending a fax, this one fail, it shows an error, the other problem is that i'm not receiving any fax at all, the people get the tone, and actually send the fax, and here it shows "receiving" (it's the weird part) but after 40-50 seconds everything fail, it shows "error communication"
    Hoping for help
    Victor

    Hello,
as far as I know, FAX and VoIP aren't the best friends - those technologies are not designed to work together smoothly ...
You may try following tuning :
Set your fax machine to 9600 (not 14400),
Make sure you only use G711a (Europe) or G711u (US) codec (fax will not work with others).
Activate  T38 FAX support if your device FW offers such possibility.

  • VG224 with T38 for Faxes and a Modem

I have a CUCM 9.1 server that's communicating with a VG224 using a SIP trunk.  I am using T38 for the fax machines that are connected to the VG and they are working (calls, by the way, are going through SIP trunks to the PSTN that have T38 enabled).  I also have a modem attached to the VG, but it isn't working.  Is there any way I'm going to be able to get this to work or is it unsupported?  If it's supposed to work, what are the configurations for this environment?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.  The engineer didn't set anything up on the desktop computer and of course I had my laptop away with me.
Yes, the port 2 is blanked off on the ECI modem and I am connecting Port 1.  I dug out a TP-Link network switch I had and that works with the ECI modem LAN port 1 as does the old home hub 1. It's the direct connection to the computer from the ECI modem or direct connection to the home hub via the supplied red lead (or any other Ethernet lead) which doesn't produce any yellow or green lights on the LAN port itself, nor on the port 1 green LED, so only Power and DSL are lit.  Port 1 only lights at the ethernet socket and on the front panel when the network switch or the home hub 1 are connected.
Setup at present is home hub 3 into TP-Link 5 port network switch, ECI modem into same network switch and home hub 1 ethernet 1 port into one of the yellow ethernet ports on the HH3.  The HH3 is doing the PPoE now rather than the desktop PC.
In addition I can't get the HH3 wireless access to work on any device, be it laptop, desktop, android or iphone either so am using my old faithful HH1 which has never ever given any trouble.  Yes I know I only get about 18Mbps with the old wireless standard on the HH1 but this is still miles better than the old ADSL.
Maybe the HH3 is faulty?  Still doesn't explain why a direct connection from ECI to computer also doesn't work, unless it needs a cross over cable because it doesn't support Auto-MDIX (unusual) and Auto-MDIX is also broken on the HH3, this maybe linked to why I can't get the wireless to work?
I don't have a cross-over ethernet cable to try with the ECI modem, will have to see if I can get one.
Oh well, at least it's cobbled together and working for the weekend.  Have to get the engineer back I suppose, but can't have time off work to hang about for an appointment *sigh*

when Update to 10.7.2 ,I cannot access to any site with ssl connection and fail to open safari and keychain, unless restart computer and login in with Guest account.
    OS:10.7.2
    Macbook Pro 2010-mid 13inch

I also have the same problem, however if I use Firefox or Opera sites with ssl connection work fine. Still, I can't use Google Chrome (ssl), Safari (ssl), the Mac app store (generally), or the iTunes store (generally). Both the iTunes store, Safari and the app store won't respond, and Chrome displays this error: (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT). The problem persists regardless of what network I'm using. Also, when trying to access the keychain or iCloud, the process will not start (will hang). I didn't have these problems at all before updating to 10.7.2.
Sometimes rebooting helps, and sometimes not. If the problem disappears by rebooting, then it only lasts a few minutes before it reappears. It is very frustrating, especially since there doesn't seem to be any obvious or consistent way of which to fix it.
    I'm also using a Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2010.

I am having some serious issues with firefox to the point of choosing another search engine. I can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and won't let me change it to my printer when i do try to select my printer it jumps right back to fax. The drop down menus do not work on any of the sites I go to. For example when purchasing clothes and you have to choose a size from a drop down menu I can't do it when I click on the drop down menu it doesn't work at all. I don't have a virus I ran my virus protector and no viruses are present. I don't have any suspicious issues going on with my computer so there has to be something in Firefox that is causing my issues. I tried internet explorer and I don't have any issues there. I hope you can help me because I love Firefox and would really like to continue to use it.
