Feature NUMKR
Hi
I have created org structure and then trying to hire a person by running action. Its defaulting the values for P.area , emp Gr n emp subgr. But when i am putting any personnel no. then its showing error:
Edit feature NUMKR for number ranges
Message no. PG051
I checked the feature by going thru PE03 and the return value there is 01 for my personnel area.
and 01 i mean that its internal and the per. no. should be generated by the system . but its not doing. and when i am putting some personnel no. then its showing the above error.
what do i need to check. need your advice.

No need to use multiple selection in the NUMKR Feature unless it is Mandatory
Just select the required personal area and choose the return value as you define for Internal number ranges
For ex
Personnel Area - ABCD
Number ranges
01-0 to 5000 internal
Mark the return value for ABCD as 01

please adviseOption 1 is the most flexible option available. You will have to be careful when switching the number range to internal, however. Please double-check the last number used and the current number in the system and verify the current number with the customer just before changing.

The objective of FEATURE is to DEFAULT a fixed value when maintaining MASTER DATA.
Some of very frequently used are: NUMKR, ABKRS, SCHKZ, PINCH, TARIF etc. etc.
Features are setup using Transaction code PE03.
How it works???
For example you have setup a FEATURE NUMKR to default Number Range when executing a Hiring Action......
This Feature NUMKR will be called in the Module Pool of the Infotype 0000 screen...and based on the decision parameters setup in NUMKR Feature, it will generate a value.....
It will take time to understand this funda... but to summarize, it is to DEFAULT values.

Error in Creation of Object ID 00000000 is not allowed
Hi all,
When I am Hiring an employee using PA40, I am getting an error as "Creation of Object ID 00000000 is not allowed", when I save it.
In the NUMKR Feature, the return value has been assigned to the Personnel Sub Area.
Pls. can anybody explain, how can I solve this problem.
This is urgent requirement of client.

Now listen carefully.
1. If you have defined your feature NUMKR according to PSA then while running hiring action does PSA comes or it just gives you the Position, PA, EG and ESG fileds only.
2. If the first condition is true then you will get the error, now the question is why
Answer, you have defined the feature through PSA and once you try to save the IT0000 there is no PSA mentioned there thats why the system gives you the error.
If this explnanation is understood by you than reply , i will tell you how you can bring the PSA field also in hiring action at IT0000.

Dear experts,
Under the same client in SAP system, can different company codes have different sales employee number ranges? If yes, should I just activate the number range? You know, there's no number range assignement to company codes.
Plz help. Many thanks.
Example:
log on SAP - client 800
client 800 has 2 company codes: 1001, 1002
Request:
sales employee under company code 1001: 10xxxxx
sales employee under company code 1002: 20xxxxx
ps. Currently HR module is not applied to client 800. Two years later, HR will be applied.

You have to be sure that you have the different number range create in PA04 and that in feature NUMKR you asign a diferent number range to each employee subgroup. For example, if you have number range "01" for sales employees and number range "02" for the rest of employees, your feauture must be something like this:

After you activate the feature it should work ok, if everything is done correctly in PA04 and in the feature.
If it´s not working I am not sure what could be happening.

Check the feature NUMKR, you have defaulted the range 06 for your grouping and also the number you maintained should be continuous, otherwise, the system will throw you error message.

Please go to PA20 or PA30 transaction, press F4 in the field for personnel number, you will get the list of all personnel numbers used in your IDES.
Or if you want to check the number range assigned to your country go to transaction PE03 and check the feature NUMKR
The return value intervel for NUMKR is maintained in PA04 transaction.

Checking of duplicate employee code

Is there anyway to check duplicate personnel no in sap. I mean to say, there is a possibility to create two employee code for one person. I want to know is there any standard way available to check this kind of error.

Standard system do not allow to create two pernr for same employee. It allowas only incase of concurrent employement. Here Personal ID is assigned to different Pernrs.
Incase personnel number is assigned via internal number assignment then the SAP system does not generate the same personnel number again. In order to ensure this the corresponding
number range (RP_PREL) is counted up with 1 for every PA40-call.
Incase you are using external number assignment then this means the user or any other mechanism proposes the personnel number:for e.g., Feature NUMKR or you can write masterdata user exit ZXPADU01 to generate the personnel number to be used in PA40 -> function module .
Now if you are using NUMKR feature then you will get popup if you are using the same pernr again.

I believe you have chosen attributes on PE03 screen and in the change mode you have selected Pers Sub area and saved.

In PA04, you maintain number range intervals like 01, 02, 03 etc. I believe you have maintained it as INTERNAL. In the feature also check if you have give return value of number ranges as 01, 02, 03 or as 1, 2, 3 etc
But, I still believe that after doing everything right you may still not be able to fulfill this requirement because of following reason.
1. The personnel number is generated on IT 0000 screen when you try to save it, right? At this point the Pers Sub area is not entered for the employee ( it happens on IT 0001 screen ) so I don't understand how the decision of the feature NUMKR will work
when Pers Sub area is not known to feature while generating the personnel number.
I believe there is a reason why Pers Sub area is inactive in structure PME01 and it should be like that due to above mentioned reason.

In PA04 already that number range is available so it will be getting the message stating Overlaping of records. Do one thing change the standard number range from 000000 to 500000 and save it. then you assign your own range like 500001 to 999999 and save it.

When I create the Org.Unit the documentation says I must enter a ' ! ' in the number field and the system will know it is an Internal number range. But when I do that it uses the number range for $$$$ like I said. The only way I can use my required number range is to enter it manually but that defeats the object of having a system assigned internal number range.
Any Idea's ?

Background:
Sales employee is created without HR. Meanwhile, sales employee is created as customer in FI module. To avoid showing different number for the same sales employee in COPA report, FI consultant requests that sales employee number is equal to his customer number. You know, sales employee's name is not showed in the report.
Q: Considering more than one company code will be created or HR module will be applied in future, any better solutions?There shouldn´t been any troubles with different number range. You have to be sure that you have the different number range create in PA04 and that in feature NUMKR you asign a diferent number range to each employee subgroup. For example, if you have number range "01" for sales employees and number range "02" for the rest of employees, your feauture must be something like this:

Employee Subgroup
SE (sales employee)
01
else
02
After you activate the feature it should work ok, if everything is done correctly in PA04 and in the feature.
If it´s not working I am not sure what could be happening.
