Fed up with q10 issues from 10.3 restarting and wiping phone

I have been a bberry user for over 7 years and have never been this close to switching OS's
I updated to 10.3 on 10 days ago. All was going well until on the saturday my phone ran out of battery. Normal issue I thought until when i put the charged battery back in (great blackberry extra battery) it reset everything and deleted all my apps and data.
I have since wiped the phone and tried to put some of my data back on to no avail. every time it restarts it it wipes the data off the phone.
I have done a factory reset and tried reinstalling apps without my data and when i power down the phone it wipes everything.
I am very frusterated and need a functional phone.

I have the exact same issue - and I am not even setting up my phone anymore since everytime it just gets wiped anyway!!! I am HATING this at the moment.
Supposed to be using it for work - but you cannot operate like this. It is MORE than annoying.
There was a new update this morning - I installed it and hoped for the best - restarted and yet again - it wiped everything!!!!
How are we to fix this??

iphoto 9.5.1 will not import videos with .mpg extension from my pictures folder and keep getting a OSStatus error-54. Is there a way I can import such videos to the iphone library? Pls help.

This is what that error means:
    -54
    permErr
Software lock on file; Not a subscriber [permissions error on file open]
Download and launch  BatChmod.  Put the videos into a subfolder and drag that folder containing the video files into the Batchmod window.  Make sure you are the owner and have R,W, X access as well as the group.  Everyone will have R only.
Check the Change ownership and privileges, Unlock and Apply to enclosed boxes and then click on the Apply button.  When done try importing the files again.

i have tried all of these troubleshooting techniques, have taken it to an apple shop and had my ipod restarted and wiped but still no luck, is there software that can reunite my ipod with my laptop?

What do you mean by "reunite". Are you experiencing connectivity issues between your iPod Nano and your iTunes on your PC? If yes, in what do these issues consist? Are there any error messages you are being returned?

  • Hello my Mac Air is frozen on the grey screen (with the apple symbol, sleeping mode, restart-and off button), once you turn it on.

hello my Mac Air is frozen on the grey screen (with the apple symbol, sleeping mode, restart-and off button), once you turn it on. I Can`t press any button. My Mouse still works. Battery is charged. Alt-cmd-escape doesn`t work It even after a forced shutting off, the problem is the same.   what should i do? Thank you for your help.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. The battery is distinct from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • Fed up with speed issues

    Hello,
Ever since I got infinity 2 I have had issues with the spped dropping. No one from bt has ever followed the issue through.
When i first got it i was getting speeds of around 70mbps download. My IP line profile was at 76mbps. It then dropped over the next few months to around 60 to 65mbps.
Along with this, i often check the speed using the bt wholesale speedcheck, and it is often sitting at around 20mbps, if i disconnect my laptop and reconnect it jumps back up to where it was.
In addition to this my IP line profile has now dropped in the last week to 51mbps, which is now where my max download speed sits.
why would my IP profile spped suddenly drop by 25mbps???
Why cant my speed stay consistent so i dont have to keep diconnecting??
And please could a enginner phone, from the uk. I have one over the issue with different people from india about 5 times and gave up, they dont really know any more than me, no dicrespect meant, they are only trying to do there job.
Please please please, i am seriosly thinking of changing if this isnt sorted.
    Greg

See attached screenshots. I have also attached a screenshot of some results i got a week or so ago, this is what i was getting.

  • Fed up with resetting my BT Home Hub 3 and it's so...

I keep having to reset my BT Home Hub 3 because of problems with wireless connections.
The Hub is close to all the equipment.
I have lots of things connected to it:
    -          iPhones - Slow not much better that 3G
    -          Blackberrys
    -          Macbook - Very fast
    -          2 Dell Laptops - Slow
    -          New model Panasonic TV – Viera ST50 Series – Has Wireless inbuilt – New this year - Slow + buffering problems
    -          Sky Box connected via Netgear WN2000RPT Wifi Range Extender - Slow + buffering problems
    -          Hard wired PC - Very fast
All worked fine with my old Netgear Router (before I changed to BT).
When I first had this Hub (it’s my 2nd) all was OK for a couple of weeks.
After a while (usually a few days after resetting BT Home Hub) the older Dell Laptop will keep losing its connection.   Once the problem starts the laptop might last for 5 or 10 minute intervals, lose connection and then automatically reconnect, etc, etc.
I'm will to accept that the Laptop is old, but when the Laptop is playing up the TV plays up too.    The Internet on the TV’s also fails.
The answer is to reboot the BT Home Hub.   The Laptop and TV are then both OK (for a few days).
I’m getting fed up with resetting the Hub.   Especially as it has dropped out while watching online TV.
All the other devices appear OK (maybe slow but remain connected).   Only the older laptop and the TV actually lose connection.   But resetting the BT Hub fixes the problem for a few days.   So the hub is at fault.
Recently I’ve been getting other problems.   Now whenever I need to reset the BT Home Hub I need to disconnect the Netgear WN2000RPT.   If I don’t  disconnect the Netgear the BT Home Hub appears to start up and connect OK and everything appears to connect to the Hub OK.  But then none of the Internet content works.   Websites don’t work, TV reports no content.
Now whenever I reset the BT Home Hub I must first turn off the Netgear WN2000RPT.   Previously this never used to be a problem.
In case compatibility with the Netgear WN2000RPT is an issue I now usually leave it unplugged.   I only turn it on for Internet content from Sky.
But the problems described above continue even when Netgear WN2000RPT is turned off.
When playing up the Laptop sometimes shows “Unsecure Connection”.  I wonder if it’s picked up the BT FON connection (but it shows the normal connection).    I suspect the start of the problems may have coincided with the activation of BT FON on the box (could this have taken 2 weeks?).   I’m sure that it was BT FON that completely broke my first BT Home Hub 3, we had had it about a week, then wifi would not connect from anything, after hours on the phone to BT support we could not establish a wireless connection to the Hub, but strangely all was OK on the FON connection.
    We have BT Infinity.
Hub is generally slow.   Wired Internet is lightning fast.   New Macbook (using Chrome) via wifi is lightning fast.   Everything else disappointingly slow.   TV and Sky both have buffering issues.
    Any ideas?

The HH3 has the ability to hop around the various Wireless Channels (of which there are 14, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels for indepth info) to enable the hub to pick the best channel for you, taking into account any cordless phones, mobile phones, microwaves etc, all of which could interfere with your wireless signal.
By reseting you HH3 you are forcing it back to its factory default channel (Channel 7 I guess).  Over a period of days, the HH3 may decide that its default channel isn't the most appropriate and select another channel based on what interference it 'sees'- clearly if it gets this wrong (as my HH3 did) then you potentially get wireless reception issues.
Consequently, I decided to manually find out what the best channel was by install a wireless scanner (free @ http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/), then:
    1.  Manually change the HH3 Channel (via its settings)
    2.  Check the wireless reception 'power' using inSSider installed on the laptop around your house, ie next to your TV etc.
    3.  When you find the channel that gives you the best wireless reception, tell the HH3 to remain on that Channel by disabling the 'Smart Wireless' feature (there's some info on this @ http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32236/~/how-do-i-change-the-wireless-channel-on-my-bt...)
As I say, my HH3's range was useless until I forced it to stick to a set Channel, now I have reliable coverage all around the house.  Hope this is some help.

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

  • NO HELP WITH ROUTING ISSUES FROM VERIZON

BT help aren't always that helpful, but BT engineers claim that it is a BT sales issue and nothing to do with them seems a bit extreme.
Are you sure your daily speed is 8Mbits, not 8Mbytes?  How are you measuring this?  Is it the number coming from the BT speedtest?
If it really is 8Mb, then I think it's worth checking with the mods;  at: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 .  But be aware they take 3 working days to reply: sometimes more if busy.

  • Notification Wait with interrupt issue from screen flow

I have a process with notification wait with interrupt activity. I am sending notification wait from a screen flow to abort another instance. The instance to be notified has returned to an interactive activity after an exception. For some reason, the notification wait does not happen immediately. It takes about 5 minutes for it to take effect. Any thoughts.

There is a setting in the wait activity that will process the notification immediate, not queue up the notification. 5 minutes seems a long time, even for it being queued up. Normally this setting defaults so it doesn't queue up the notifications. Perhaps this was turned off in your case.
Right-click on the notification wait, clink on properties->runtime. This settings is located there.
We have seen issues with different implementations of the queue and topic JMS devices, especially using Webshpere. Unless you're doing something special, the default JMS devices in WebLogic works fine. If your using some other app server or JMS device, then that may be the problem.

  • Fed up with the lies from Verizon on a problem going on for 4 months now..

Back in March and a month even before that, my daughter was having problems with her Droid 3 the phone kept shutting off and wouldn't stay on long enough to even try to fix/reset the phone with technical support,  In that time they had sent a replacement (actually several refurbished phones that all had problems and needed to be returned)  Eventually my daughter decided to keep the last one since she was due for an upgrade, when the last phone was returned a month later we got an email saying the phone was returned damaged and they are charging us $299..  When it left our hands the phone was fine other than it not working correcting (which is why it was being replaced to begin with)  There were pictures taken on Verizon's end and it showed a tiny hairline crack on the top glass, also the box was crushed with creases and extra shipping tape added (all together different from when we shipped it) So basically they said it was our word against theirs.  Now keep in mind my daughter pays for insurance every month on her phone, she had several problems with the Droid 3 (which isn't even offered anymore) and she is available to get a new phone.  So why would she risk having to pay $299 for a phone returned that was a non working refurbished phone when she could get a brand new phone for even cheaper.
Since March we've been calling talking to one operator after another, each time having to go through the whole story of what had happened. The first man we spoke to said he'd talk to his manager and take notes on our comments etc.. and would get back to us in the next day or two..  after two weeks I called again.  This lady said she'd look into it.. and do the same, take notes and pass on to her manager, by the 4th call after a month I started asking to talk to the manager, of course we've been told different stories, from they don't allow customers to talk to managers to the managers aren't in the same building where they are and they will have them call back..  In between that first two months we spoke to operators that were so rude and ones that were sympathetic but told "I'm sorry I really feel for your problem but there's nothing I can do.. "  So we'd call back again in hopes to get someone that could ACTUALLY HELP.  Each time being told we will call you back to let you know we are looking over your case..  To this date.. 4 months plus.. NO ONE PERSON HAS EVER RETURNED A CALL OR CONTACTED US TO FURTHER DISCUSS THIS PROBLEM!  and from the last 6 calls made in the pass week.. found that half the people we talked to never even made notes we spoke or even what we spoke about.. we have 5 phone lines and been customers at least 15 years or more.. brought in several friends and family to Verizon and this is how we are treated.. oh wait.. we are just a small nobody and they are a big multi-million dollar company who wants to rip off people who have been nothing but loyal and who don't have a lot of money to pay for mistakes that were out of our conotrol.. Some of the options that they offered my daughter was to finally use her insurance that she pays $10 a month for and they'd take off $199 she can pay $100 for the bad phone and then buy her new Galazy S4 for $200.. or send in the bad phone and get $100 but still pay the $199 plus $200 for a new phone.. we were even told twice that the charge of $299 was going to be taken off the bill only to find that 1-2 days later it was denied.  Nothing like getting you all stress relief thinking this is finally over to find out that you're back to square one and no where near getting anything solved or even talking to anyone that can really help or make a decision on this..on top of all this I have a health condition and it has not helped that in any way;  I finally spoke with a Jordon Friday and he was so nice and sincere and told me he'd talk to his corporate manager Rick and he'd throw me a text Saturday to let me know things were sent to this manager and well here it is Tuesday and no return reply of any kind...  I called again and there was a Jordon in the notes but nothing did he write about talking to his manager or anything else he told me...  lie after lie after lie with every customer service person....  Doesn't Verizon train these people??  Is this how a big company is run?  Just get anyone off the street to work for you?  I'm at the point I'm ready to contact the media to try to get something resolved..  4 months is entirely too long to be lied to and not have one person get in contact with us to try to solve this especially for a phone that isn't even offered anymore.. and that was used to begin with and I'm sure they will slap a screen on that was from another broken phone and resell it for an unreasonable price..  I just want to talk to someone in corporate that can help me..and get this resolved.. I'm so sorry that I just upgraded my phone and stuck in another contract..  funny how too they didn't add any charges till last month after we upgraded our lines..  because I'd definitely leave Verizon for the lact of support and the rudeness we've received...  Please comment if you;ve experienced these same problems...  Thank you!

Since i purchase my Nokia c5-00 3.2 mp(older version) i am using the memory card which i got along with the handset box.sometimes it shows there ar 100-200 mb free generally after hard reset.and after 1day it shows 30-40 mb free and finally 10-15 mb.i wanna know which file is capturing my free memory.bcz i don't install anything.is there any virus affected in my mobile handset.waiting fr ur rply.

Have you updated to the latest software on the device, this always had known issues for memory usage, you should maybe take it to a nokia care point for inspection.

  • Problem with saving TIFF from PDF in Photoshop and importing into Corel

I work at a publishing company, and some of our designers use CorelDraw X14. We receive most of our advertising material in PDF format, which I then have to convert to TIFF in Photoshop (I use CS4). Most of the time this works fine, but lately, the TIFF files appear ragged and very low resolution (especially the text) once they are imported into Corel. When I re-open the TIFF files in Photoshop they seem fine, as well as viewing them with a picture manager program. Does anyone have any idea why this happens, and if the problem lies with the may I save the TIFF files or the way they are imported into Corel? TIFF files created from Corel don't have the same problem.

I concur with Bart - they are using the preview because someoen ticked a wrong checkbox or enabled a fast preview mode... Should print and export without issues, though.

  • Install HRCS9.0 and PT8.53 with Linux Issue: the files intiPT853.ora and initHRCS90.ora: maximum number of DB_FILES exceeded

    Folks,
Hello. I have installed PeopleTools 8.53 with Oracle Linux 5.10 successfully. The entire PeopleTools  runs correctly in browser at the beginning.
After I set up HCM and Campus Solution 9.0 Database Instance named HRCS90 in Linux successfully, PeopleTools 8.53 Database Instance PT853 cannot be mounted. Its error message is below:
    SQL> startup
    ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area  538677248 bytes
    Fixed Size                  2146024 bytes
    Variable Size             528482584 bytes
    Database Buffers            4194304 bytes
    Redo Buffers                3854336 bytes
ORA-00059: maximum number of DB_FILES exceeded
In the file /home/user/OracleDB_Home/dbs/initPT853.ora, its parameter db_files has 3 values: small 400, medium 1021 and large 1500. The initial value is 1021 and it works correctly at the beginning.  But after set up another instance HRCS90, the above error message comes up and instance PT853 cannot mounted. I change the value of db_files from 1021 to 1500 in the file initPT853.ora and restart OS Linux. But get the same error as below:
    SQL> startup
    ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area  538677248 bytes
    Fixed Size                  2146024 bytes

ORA-00059: maximum number of DB_FILES exceeded
In the file /home/user/OracleDB_Home/dbs/initHRCS90.ora, its parameter db_files has 3 values: small 80, medium 400 and large 1500. I use db_files=400 and it works correctly. I start up instance HRCS90 right after the above error message as below:
    SQL> shutdown immediate
    ORA-01507: database not mounted
    ORACLE instance shut down.

As we see above, the instance HRCS90 works corretly and PT853 cannot start up. The parameter DB_FILES of the file initPT853.ora has an issue.
    My question is:
Because 1021 and 1500 are not enough to startup instance PT853, what value should be used for DB_FILES of the file initPT853.ora  ?
    Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what does "Instance" mean here.

Are you not using a spfile ? Does the file contain really the 3 values ? What is the last ? Have you checked the value in the database side "show parameter db_files" ?
    >But after set up another instance HRCS90, the above error message comes up and instance PT853 cannot mounted
Again, I have no idea what it means.

Again, I don't understand what are HRCS90 and PT853 exactly. Cannot help.

I'm sure, you don't have an issue with this parameter, 1500 files in the database is quite huge number. I built a demo recently, the default value 1021 was ok for me. You should have done something wrong somewhere.
    Nicolas.
