File Modified Date Wrong

Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year! I have a question. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro running 10.10.1 connected to a Seagate GoFlex Home NAS. This is the main storage location for all my files (work and personal). I am having a very annoying problem, all my file modified dates are showing September 2029! When I access the same file in my Windows 7 VM the date is correct. The date and time are set correctly in OS X and on the NAS drive. Any ideas?

Hi Allan,
The issue was caused by the date on the NAS being set to automatic. I manually set the correct time, and all was ok after!
Hope this works for you!

  • File Modified date

    Hi, I have a question about getting file name. When I use list method (import java.io.file) I can get all the files names under the directory I give. I am just wondering if I can get each file's modified date. If yes, how?
    Thanks in advance!

    use listFiles. you will get an array of File objects.
    for modified time use lastModified().

  • Smbfs file modified date not updating

    When I save a file from Photoshop CS3 to an SMB share (where I have terabytes of images) it appears the Modified Date does not change after I edit. This makes it impossible to work my downstream processes which rely on looking for modified image since a certain date.
    I checked against TextEdit (seems to rewrite the file which gets a new create and modified date) and TextMate where the modified date is correctly set. Also the unix touch command works fine.
    Any ideas how to ensure that a file saved from Photoshop CS3 will correctly set the Modified Date on an SMB share?

    Usually the changes are made to the contents of the domain.sites2 folder and not the actual folder itself. As long as you edit, save and publish, the next time you open iWeb you'll see the latest version. However, be sure to backup the Domain.sites2 package frequently.

  • Itunes file modified date/time

    Ok, so I know for sure this is related to me travelling to Florida and back, and changing the timezone on my system (Windows 7).  So I started with all of the music in my itunes at MST, went to and changed to EST, then came back MST.  This is when the problem occurred:
    On a playlist, if I sort by date modified, I'll see one date (Say its Sep 1 2011, 10:00 am).  If I double click the file it will appear as if it moved randomly, BUT the modified timestamp now says Sept 1 2011, 8:00 am.  What in the world is this behavior?  I don't much feel like double clicking every song to fix this... do I need to completely remove and readd all songs to fix?  And why did it happen in the first place; am I going to need to do this every time I change time zones?

    itunes 7.6.2
    I had the same annoying problem: iTunes would hesitate at the beginning of a song and then resume playing it. This affected ALL tracks in my 17,000+ library. No quarter.
    My fix was to uncheck crossfade playback in preferences. I have never used sound check nor sound enhancer so those boxes remained unchecked.
    Worked for me and ALL tracks play now with no stutter.
    Hope this helps some.

  • PSE8 File Save Date Wrong

    When I save files in PSE8 Editor the date is not that day's date.  It is random.  My PC's date and time is correct.
    System: HP Elite HPE-210f AMD Phenom II 945 Quade Core.
    Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to fix?

    I will try your suggestion about adding it to the organizer.  I understand about overwriting the file but not the properties.
    New PC with a new PSE8 a few months ago.   The issue may have been there from the outset but only started noticing the date discrepancies three weeks ago.  I have not found a pattern or a solution.

  • Is Bridge supposed to sort raw files by date modified?  Not on my systems.

    I have just installed photoshop/bridge cs5 on two windows 7 systems, home premium 64 bit, one an i3 chip and the other an i7 chip.  I was formerly using cs3.
    I see that Bridge is not sorting my raw files by date modified like it did before.  It sorts jpg files okay.  I noticed that the xmp files associated with the raw files, when I hover over them in Windows Explorer show the correct modified date but the thumbnail icon shows only creation date, which I assume is as it shou ld be.  Why doesn't Bridge CS5 sort raw files by date modified as it did in CS3?  CS3 must have referred to the xmp file modified date to use for sorting, I would think.
    I should also mention that the metadata file does not show the correct date modified, but gives the same date as the creation date.  Also the thumbnails for raw images that have been modified correctly show the icon that indicates it was modified.
    Also, I see that when you hover over a thumbnail in Bridge CS5 nothing is revealed about the file.  In CS3 Bridge hovering over a thumbnail showed several pieces of data about the file including anything in the file info.
    Is this just how Bridge CS5 works or have I missed a setting somewhere in Bridge or Windows?

    Curt, thanks for your response.  The tool tips
    was not checked and did result in "hovering"
    working.  I'm not sure why that's called tool tips, but okay.
    I have just installed the software in the last
    few days.  I almost immediately got an update
    notice and installed the update.  I thought I was
    up to date.  Then, just a while ago I got another
    update notice.  After installing it the sorting
    now works.  Thanks much.  Problems seem to be solved.

  • Using client_text_io.get_line to get file created date...

    client_text_io.get_line is getting file modified date, is there any way to get the file created date instead?
    Thanks,

    Ha-ha, you're r't, thanks for clearing my head, don't know what I'm thinking. The thing I'm looking for should be dos cmd dir to get the file created date instead of modified date.
    Thanks again

  • Avoiding Lightroom to change the file's date of JPEG

    When I import my directories with JPEG pictures, the file modified dates are changed of my JPEG pics. Is it possible to avoid this? I prefer to keep these dates.
    Of course the capture date is also stored in the EXIF information, but still I prefer to see the date of the picture by looking at the file date.

    I use Windows XP. I have a combination of many old JPG's and new RAW pictures. Both are on my harddisk. When I import these into the LR database, the XMP files of the RAW files are updated (which is okay), but also the JPGs are updated and they loose their original file date.
    It is true that automatically update XMP data has been turned on. Maybe I should switch this off?

    This is a Forms webutil question. You would be better off asking this question in the Forms proper, not least becaus emembers of the Forms team who actually worked on webutil (Duncan Mills, Frank Nimphius) often answer questions there.

  • N8 picture date wrong

    I've had my N8 for less than 2 weeks so still learning it.
    When I take a picture a file name is generated based on teh date correctly e.g. 14062011005 was teh fith picture taken on teh 14th of june 2011.  When I check the details of the picture this is correct 14/06/2011 17:28.
    However, when I transfer the file to my PC the file modified date is 7/14/11 6:28 PM.
    Is this an issue with the phone or my PC or both or something else.

    Depending on how you transfer the picture to the PC, some software actually changes the datestamp info to be the time the picture was transferred.  (Dukto despite being an excellent application, annoyingly does this)
    Or, are you sure that the date is correct on the PC and in the format you want?

  • Wrong Modified Date on Files

    When I tried opening a file on my macbook pro this evening, I was greeting by grayed out, inaccessible files, all with a modified date of January 24, 1984 at 2:00 am.  Anyone know what might have caused this and/or how to fix it.
    Thanks!

    Try dragging the files into a new folder. If there's no change, and you have a backup of the files, restore them. Otherwise post your results.

  • *.eml Time Stamp - Select File in Windows Explorer Changes the Modified Date

    The Windows Live Mail *.eml files time stamp is getting changed to the current date when the file is selected in the Windows Explorer! I save backup copies of important E-mails to folders on the Hard Drive and then synchronize them with the same folders on other LAN Hard Drives for backup archives. When these E-mail files are selected or opened from the Windows Explorer in the Windows 7 OPS the Modified Date Time Stamp is changed to the current date automatically! This action creates a real problem when doing later synchronizations of all of the folders! The date will not be the original date of the E-mail and the original file will be over copied with the file with the newest date stamp. I stopped Indexing on the *.eml files and that stopped the time stamp change when overcopy synchronization, but if the file is selected during a viewing in Windows Explorer then the Time Stamp is updated to the current date again! A solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated if anybody knows of one. Thanks - - - Shorto

    The Date and Timestamp changing issue in Windows 7 has a two part fix!
    1. Disable the Indexing of the *.eml file type in the Indexing Options located by Clicking on "Control Panel" -  "Indexing Options" - Advanced Button - File Types Tab - scroll down to the .eml file type and uncheck the Box then click OK to finish, so
    that the Email type of files won't be Indexed.
    2. Delete the Registry Entry listed below, be sure to Export and Save the original Key so it could be Restored if something goes wrong!  \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\PropertyHandlers
     and Delete the .eml entry
    That should fix the problem with the changing Date/Timestamp of Email Files. For more information read CarlS's WindowsSeven Fourm thread where I also have more input:
     http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/35334-eml-files-timestamps-updated-constantly.html
    This should give you a better understanding on the problem and the Fix. - - - Shorto

  • Get File by modified date and extension then copy to location

    Hello,
    Ill give a brief description of what I am trying to accomplish. We have a bunch of files that are sitting on a deduplication box (Exagrid), we want to try and copy certain files off of this dedup box, however, if we copy EVERYTHING this will fill up our
    entire NAS Device. So, instead, I need to build a script that finds files by a modified date and extension type, then copy those to a specified folder.
    Here is the code:
    $logfile = "C:\CopyResults.log"
    function LogWrite{
    Param([string]$logstring)
    Add-Content $logfile -Value $logstring
    $date = get-date
    $DateToCompare = (Get-Date).AddDays(-2)
    $Files = Get-ChildItem -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.LastWriteTime -gt $DateToCompare} | Where-Object {$_.Extension -eq ".xlsx"}
    foreach($File in $Files){
    Write-Host "$File was copied to C:\test"
    Copy-Item $File C:\test
    logWrite "$File was copied to c:\test --- $date"
    The file extension is of course just a test, as well as the destination of where these files are to be copied to. Ultimately I would like to build in the functionality that will check the date and delete the files after a certain amount of time has passed and
    then copy new files. For now, though, I would be satisfied with just some insight on my own idea and know where I am going wrong or how to clean this up a little better. The overall issue I having is when I run this portion of the script I get this: Copy-Item
    : Cannot find path 'C:\Users\<username>\<filename>.xlsx' because it does not exist.
    At line:13 char:5
    +     Copy-Item $File C:\test
    +     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : ObjectNotFound: (C:\Users\<usern...al filename>.xlsx:String) [Copy-Item], ItemNotFoundException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PathNotFound,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.CopyItemCommand

    I solved the issue. Here is the full script:
    net use \\netpath\filename /user:<Username> <Password>
    $logfile = "C:\CopyResults.log"
    function LogWrite{
    Param([string]$logstring)
    Add-Content $logfile -Value $logstring
    $date = get-date
    $DateToCompare = (Get-Date).AddDays(-1)
    $VBMs = Get-ChildItem \\netpath\filename -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.LastWriteTime -gt $DateToCompare} | Where-Object {$_.Extension -eq ".vbm"}
    $VBKs = Get-ChildItem \\netpath\filename -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.LastWriteTime -gt $DateToCompare} | Where-Object {$_.Extension -eq ".vbk"}
    $VIBs = Get-ChildItem \\netpath\filename -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.LastWriteTime -gt $DateToCompare} | Where-Object {$_.Extension -eq ".vib"}
    foreach($VBM in $VBMs){
    Write-Host "$VBM was copied to C:\test"
    Copy-Item $VBM.FullName \\netpath\filename
    logWrite "$VBM was copied to c:\test --- $date"
    foreach($VBK in $VBKs){
    Write-Host "$VBK was copied to C:\test"
    Copy-Item $VBK.FullName \\netpath\filename
    logWrite "$VBK was copied to c:\test --- $date"
    foreach($VIB in $VIBs){
    Write-Host "$VIB was copied to C:\test"
    Copy-Item $VIB.FullName \\netpath\filename
    logWrite "$VIB was copied to c:\test --- $date"
    "In this case you are handing a System.IO.FileSystemInfo.FileInfo object to the Copy-Item cmdlet. I think the cmdlet is probably defaulting to using the .Name property and that is not enough information for the copy to work. When you explicitly give the
    .FullName property to the cmdlet, it now has the information that it needs."
    I found this on Stack Overflow buried in the forums and it resolved all my issues. I have tried using that tool and it works very well, however, Powershell is what I am using for everything and I would like to keep it that way.
    Thank you all for your time and help.

  • How can I preserve the modify date of the files I transfer from my local computer to the remote webserver?

    How can I make sure the the modify date of files are not updated to the date the file was uploaded or downloaded.
    There are multiple people working on my sites and I am the only one that uses Dreamweaver.  The problem this presents is when  one of my colleagues works on an image and I want to update my local computer it changes the date of the image to the date that I downloaded it and now when I compare what I have on my local computer to what is on the server they are different modify dates.

    Dont think you can find out the date of purchase!
    Where should know this without a payment bills or sales checks.
    What you can do is to find out when the notebook was registered on the Toshiba page.

  • Occasional invalid modified date on a file - looks like a bug

    In the Bridge script I'm working on, I need to compare the last modified dates of files. I've found that when I iterate through the app.document.visibleThumbnails array that in nearly every directory I test on, there are one or two files that return an "undefined" value for app.document.visibleThumbnail[i].spec.modified. It is not the same two files each run, but it's always at least one that has a missing value. It's a pretty simple test app to illustrate the problem:
    var thumbs = app.document.visibleThumbnails;
    for (var j in thumbs)
    var modDateSpec = thumbs[j].spec.modified;
    if (modDateSpec == undefined)
    Window.alert("modification date is undefined");
    Unless this value is not intended to be reliable, this appears to be a bug which is why I am reporting it. I have worked around the problem for now by getting the fsName from the same thumbnail, creating a new File object with that fsName and getting the modified date from that temp object.
    I've verified that purging and rebuilding the cache does not make the problem go away. I see this problem on many different directories.
    Is this the right place to report this type of bug or is there a different procedure I should follow?

    Don't know about Terminal, but, because you are using 10.9.x and iMovie, try the iMovie method:
