Files in Subversion Erroneously Renamed

I'm using RoboHelp 9 with Subversion, TortoiseSVN, and PushOK SVNSCC.
I just added a project to the repository and checked in all files. Every time I check out a file, make and edit, and then save the change, I get a message similar to the following:
SVN proxy detected that following files inside the project were renamed. Should this rename will be applied to SVN. (That's the exact content.)
Beneath that it shows the path to the file and the file name followed by the exact path/file name, except a tilde has been inserted in the file name right before the .html extension.
For example, topic.html is being changed to topic~.htm.
If I click the Cancel button, everything is OK; however, if I accidentally click OK, the name of the file in the Subversion repository is changed to include the tilde. The name of the file in my local copy is not changed (which it shouldn't be), so it then appears in the Project Manager tab with the dreaded red X on it.
If I open the PushOK SVN Proxy Properties window, and clear the Enable File Rename Monitoring checkbox on the SVN Options tab, the problem goes away.
Is this a common issue? Am I doing something wrong? Should I be concerned that I have to keep that feature turned off? (I turned off Enable File Remove Monitoring too.)

Also, I submitted a ticket to PushOK, but the answer was to disable the rename and remove monitors:

1. It is new issue. Perhaps related to a combination of RoboHelp + Win 7
2. Apparently in your case it is better to disable rename and remove
monitors
3. To edit the repository is best to use TSVN - Repository Browser.
There you can rename the file and remove excess.
Then checkout the project to the new location.

I'm using the SVNSCC plug-in, along with TortoiseSVN and Adobe RoboHelp 9
to store our RoboHelp projects in an SVN repository.
Thus far, everything works as expected except for when I enable file
rename monitoring. When the Enable file rename monitoring check box is
selected on the SVN Options tab in the SVN Proxy properties window, the
following issue occurs.
1. I check out a RoboHelp topic (an HTML file).
2. I make a change to the topic and click the Save button.
3. A window opens and tells me that a file name change has been detected
for the file that I just saved. I did not change the file name.
4. If I click OK, a tilde is added to the file name in the repository. For
example, AR_Options.html is changed to AR_Options~.html
I then have a local copy with the correct file name and the wrong file
name in the repository.
Is this a known issue? Any idea what is causing it or how to fix it?

  • File Adapter-handling erroneous files and let channel continue to poll file

    Hello,
Even tough there is not an out-of-the-box solution in PI, I'd like to hear your suggestions. When having a file sender communication channel to pick and send files, there are cases where we get errors at the adapter level. These errors are generally due to errors in the file, which will, for example, lead to conversion errors. When this happens, this communication channel will present us an error and will continuously try to pick the erroneous file till we fix the error in that file. Now imagine the situation where in the same folder you have another 1000 files to be picked up and these are all right. Despite this fact, the communication channel will continue to be in an error state till it can process the first file. My question is, what's your generic and standard solution to automatically place this erroneous file in an erroneous folder directory enabling the communication channel to process the other 1000 files?
    Thank you for your suggestions.

    Hi,
As said above...that option need to be utilised in case of error files....
search SDN if need more details...and coming to the second u mentioned that if 1000 files are there for processing and waiting...
if file adapter criteria for processing the file matches and if file is correct then those files will get processed inspite of one error file also...
    Hope this clears your queries...

  • Batch file rename.  I have multiple files I want to rename, that have a date in their name in the mm/dd/yy format. The slashes seem to freak out the batch rename function.  Any workarounds that would help me avoid manually changing each name?

OS X Yosemite 10.10.2, Macbook Air,
Finder batch file rename function. I have multiple files I want to rename, that have a date in their name in the mm/dd/yy format. The slashes seem to freak out the batch rename function and it won't work.  I took out the slashes and worked fine.  Any workarounds that would help me avoid manually changing each name?  I should point out that I want to leave most of the name intact just change the first word in each name.  Also the files I'm working with are in PDF format.

That's a comment in the file. It has no effect at all.

  • Renaming NEF file no longer changes JPG file automatically (NOT BATCH RENAMING)

For the last year I have been able to select a file in Bridge under the 'Content' tab and in renaming an individual NEF file, Bridge would automatically change the corresponding JPG for me. Suddenly it no longer works and I have to change each file independently. Batch renaming still works fine, but I don't want to use that every time, as that is a bit conveluded to change one letter/number in the file.
Not sure if it was an update that changed something since the updates are automatic. I'm not finding anything in the 'Preferences' or any other area to change the setting back. How do I get it back to the way it was???

Hi Don, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Some files refuse to be renamed

Some files refuse to be renamed, about 0.5% of my library does this. What happens is I can rename the file as usual, but when I play another song, then return to play the renamed song, the tag reverts back to before i renamed it.
    Anyone know what's going on?
Note: this happened in particular to a group of songs I encoded myself, recording from vinyl. However, it also occurs with songs I get from the internet. (I don't think it happens with properly purchased songs)
    thanks

    hi again,
changing artist, album and all other info but the name is changing the song's tag only. however, changing the song name in iTunes actually modifying the file's name.
a quick test you may perform is to verify what's happen if you try to change the file's name from within the finder. if the finder doesn't allow to change the name either it will not be an iTunes issue.

  • My Windows part of the drive got all of the files deleted and got renamed

My Windows part of the drive got all of the files deleted and got renamed to Time Machine Backups. This all happened when i woke up and i tried to do to the windows part of the drive and it was not there. So I went to the mac part and i saw it was renamed to Time Machine Backups. So then I clicked to see if any thing was in the part. Nothing. I tried to go to boot camp assistant it said -The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.-So Then I went to disk utility to erase it but it did nothing. PLEASE HELP ME

    1. Time machine probably has the disk locked. Go into time machine preferences and turn it off.
    2. open DU (disk utility), see if you can dismount the boot camp partition. If not, log out, log back in and try again with DU. Once it will mount and dismount go to step 3.
    3. In DU select the boot camp volume, select erase, select msdos file system (format), select name for partition, select erase.
    4. Close DU, Open preferences > system > startup disk.
    5. Highlight the msdos partition, close preferences (this blesses the msdos partition and sets it to boot).
    6. Place your windows cd/dvd in the tray, close tray and reboot.
    7. Install windows.
    8. After complete installation, select run, type in "cmd" (in windows).
    9. A windows terminal will open, at the prompt type:
    convert c: /fs:ntfs
press enter, it will ask if you want to schedule the conversion at the next startup?.
    10. Select yes. Time machine will leave a ntfs drive alone, simply because it cannot write to it.
    11. Reboot windows and let it convert the file system. That's it.

  • Can't rename file under Subversion control.

CS5 - Unless I'm missing something you can't rename a file (using dreamweaver to do so) and have it maintain it's connection to subversion. For example, if I rename a file using Dreamweaver, edit it, then go to "Commit" it, I get an error "File is not under Subversion Control". What is the correct way to rename a file in CS5 under subversion control?
    This is a serious deficit.

Saving the file under a different name creates all sorts of problems. Especially since all the history of the changes are lost. DW provides a "rename" command but it doesn't update the files svn metadata. If you use the rename command it doesn't warn you that you will loose the connection to the repository.
This must be a bug because an equivelent version of Tortise SVN DOES allow you to rename a file and preserve all the history. I just found this out and am using Tortise SVN to do the renaming. It's the same SVN version as DW so it updates the metadat just fine and it preserves the history of the previously named file.
This is a bug in DW or a serious omission.

  • File - Get info and Renaming a file

    Get Info on a file.
In the Name and Extension box, rename it to something already in the same location.
    Click the close window dot.
A window pops up telling you that the file name is already used (or somethign similar). Close the window and the Get Info window is also closed.
Should't the Get Window stay open since a change was attempted but didn't happen?

    No?

  • Imported PSD Files Are Being Erroneously Resized in Captivate 4

I am trying to import PSD files to use in my Captivate 4 project. I verified that the PSD image size is 800 x 600, and my Captivate project dimensions are the same 800 x 600. But when the import process completes, the layers are erroneously resized to smaller dimensions. I have tried the same thing on two separate installations of Captivate 4 on two separate PC's with the same results.
Here is a screenshot of the PSD file in Photoshop (image size = 800 x 600):
Now here is a screenshot of what the imported PSD file looks like in the Captivate project (screen size set to 800 x 600):
When I do the import, I'm selecting: File --> Import --> Photoshop File..., then I select the "As Layers" option, and do not check the box next to "Scale according to stage size" (I have tried using this option as well with the same results, although I don't believe I should have to rescale when the PSD image size and Captivate project size are the same.)
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for such a prompt reply...the single .psd file with many layers is imported using:
    Import Kind: Composition
Layer Options: Editable Layer Styles; Life Photoshop 3D (although there are no 3D layers in the .psd...so I'm unsure if this default is needed?)
Oh!!  Never mind...I just tried Import Kind: Composition -- Cropped Layers and the layers were not cropped...kind of counter-intuitive since I would have thought "Cropped Layers" would crop the layers rather than the other way around.
Thanks for your help...if you just reply to this post I'll mark your reply as the answer, thanks for suggesting the direction to look for a solution, cheers!

  • CiscoWorks Shadow Directory File Name After Device Rename

I have noticed that when a Device is renamed through Common Services --> Device and Credentials --> Device Management --> Edit Identity, it does not rename the config archive file name in the shadow directory.  Changing the Display Name, Host Name, and IP Address for Device Properties.  All of our devices are named with the IP Address of the device so we have the IP Address for the Display Name, Host Name, and IP Address.
Example:  Device with the name of 10.10.10.10 has a config archive in the shadow directory with the file name 10.10.10.10.cfg.  When the device is renamed to 10.10.10.20 it still continues to config archive ok but keeps the file in the shadow directory as 10.10.10.10.cfg.
Is there a way to get the config archive shadow directory file name to change?
    Thanks.

    Hi.
Kindly try resubmitting Device under RME (RME ->Device management -> Normal Device ->Select that particular Device and click on resubmit) and once it is back to normal state, then try to collect Archive after performing any change on the Device and see if it updates the Name of the Device under Shadow Directory.
If above steps does not help, you need to delete and re add Device under Common Services --> Device and Credentials --> Device Management in order to get the correct name reflect under Shadow Directory.
Kindly let me know in case you have any doubts regarding the same.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nikhil

  • File sync error after renaming jpg file on desktop

I changed the file name of a photo in my desktop backup of my Treo 755p photos from the default format of Photo_[date]_xyz.jpg to Matisse by fire2_101208.jpg.
    The path is:
    C:\Program Files\Palm\[username]\Photos\offline copy location\7dba\Palm on Card\Matisse by fire2_101208.jpg
Now I get the following error after hotsync.
Unable to sync media file 'Matisse by fire2_101208.jpg' on desktop. Error code: 32.
    OK Media with 1 message(s)
I also changed two others to
    Matisse by fire1_101208.jpg and
    Matisse by fire3_101208.jpg
but am not getting errors on those.
I can open the file specified so I don't think it is corrupted.
    I'm using Hotsync 6.0.1.
I could not find error 32 anywhere. Is ther a list of all the Hotsync errors somewhere?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Don

as far as i understood the explanation, you renamed the picture manually by going into the path that you stated in your post right?
when your rename the file, have you check if it did show the file extensions?
try to reveal the file extensions by going back to the location (folder). click on tools>folder options>view>uncheck hide extensions for known file types.
then click ok. try to see on what's the difference in the 3 files you mentioned. i suspect that the erring file has 2 jpeg extensions on it.

  • File size shrinkage when renaming pictures?

I notice that when I use Lightroom 5 to rename the pictures contained in a folder, the folder size is reduced afterward. For example, a folder containing 349 jpg files was 1.52 GB but after renaming them, the folder size was redusce to 1.30 GB. Why is this happening, and, is it a problem? Thanks.

I'm running out of ideas too. - did you check the last-modified date? - are the files changed?
(are you sure you didn't delete some files - sorry, but I had to ask)
I suppose another possibility is hidden files, like thumbs.db - could that be it?

  • Three Nikon Cameras have created duplicate names of files -How do I rename?

I have loaded hundreds of photos with duplicate names from 3 cameras that use the same naming sequence. How can I at least rename one of the duplicate file names so that I don't have duplicates??????? I appreciate your help.
    -Paul

Take a look at FileWrangler-it might do what you want.
Having identical files names is more of a nuisance than a problem these days since the actual files are in different folders.
Another option: you could try creating keywords like "Nikon 1", "Nikon 2" and "Nikon 3" and batch tagging the images that way.

  • Bridge removing file extension after batch rename

    Hi All,
I've been having trouble with what appears to be a problem with Bridge in Photoshop CS2. I'm well aware this is an older version but, in this case, I don't think that should matter. Here is my situation:
After batch renaming jpeg files, I've had a problem with Bridge simply stripping off the file extension on all the newly renamed files. This never happens right away...always later. In other words, I'll batch rename a folder full of photos without issue, note that the rename was successful, and then return to that same folder a short time later to find white thumbnails and missing file extensions. This has happened exactly the same way on two different computers - and always with the delay.
This is getting to be very annoying. Has anyone had or heard of a similar issue? Thanks very much...

First use the menu tools / cache / purge cache for folder, if still in trouble restart Bridge holding down option key to refresh preferences
