Filter by cube or by application

Hi Experts,
We want to filter in order that the chief of a shop could see only the stock of his shop, and to put similar filters
Is it better to filter by cube or by application?
Do you have any design about this issue?
Any feedback will be really appreciated.

hi,
you can have multiprovider which can collect the information from various cubes that provide info to report.
1. as you wish u can choose the application related cubes for report . like inventory cubes. filter based on the cube data for required output.
2. if you combine all cubes under one multiprovider then restrict based on application.

BI Cube to BPC ( application) load

We are in 7.5NW , sp4. To get transaction data from BI cube into BPC application, we are using standard process chain(/CPMB/LOAD_INFOPROVIDER) within a DM package.
But every time we run this process chain through DM, I am seeing a FULL load and NOT the delta loads from BI into BPC(even with "Merge data values" option). I thought this "Merge data values" should do the delta loads and NOT full loads.
Anybody has seen this issue and any potential resolutions ?

Hello ,
For delta load, you can have a DSO before you load the records into BPc and every time after loading into BPC you can clear the DSO. Please note that this is a BW solution/work around to handle deltas and not a BPC solution.

Shared Services, create read access to a cube into an application us a grou

Hi,
I have an application with 3 cubes. I have created a group in Shared Services, and i want to give read access only to one cube.
If i give provision to this group , i only can give read to all the application, so all the cubes are going to have read access.
How must i do to give only read access to one cube and not to all,

Applying filter on all tabs of application

Hi,
Can anyone help me out from my situation...,
I have created a application with 6tabs on it....each tab(different area of the company) contains a form and interactive report .
Report :
part no. || Part Name || Place || date
Report shows the current data,which can be editable.
Form is used to insert a new record(part no details) into report....
my situation:
when a user creates a new part using FORM.....if he changes to report format he will see all the old part no's and new one created.....to see only the new part records say he applied the filter on part number with new record value.....
this "part number"column is common field in all 6tabs...
so if he navigates thru the other 5tabs the new part number should automaticaly be the filter ...instaed of user applying the filter on all 6tabs ....
Please let me know if it is not clear....

NOTE: one more option, i donno if it is easy....if a user creates a new user and switches to report mode he should see only the new record created and apply the same to all other five tabs...

Firstly, you have to consider how the user is going to apply a filter. Does the user select the new record's part number from a list, for example, or do they click a link on the report?
If the user just applied a filter from one page only, you can use that filter on all other pages by simply refering to the same filter. For example, if the user selected from a list, on page 1, with a page item name of P1_FILTER, then all reports on all pages can use WHERE PART_NUMBER = :P1_FILTER as a filter. However, in your case, if I understand correctly, the user could be on ANY of the six pages and apply a filter. In such cases, you need to use a standard item name that can be applied to all reports as a filter. You, therefore, need to set a GLOBAL item. Go to Shared Components, Application Items and create a new item called, say, G_FILTER. Update your reports to include WHERE PART_NUMBER = :G_FILTER. Now, you need to ensure that G_FILTER is set to the selected part number. This can be handled in several ways, the simplest is probably on the page branch that is being triggered by the filter selection - you can use the branch settings to set G_FILTER to &P1_FILTER. (or whatever the page item name is on each page). If the filter is set from a link, you apply the same principle to the link settings. Either way, whichever page the user is on, the G_FILTER value is set and, as all reports use this, they will all be filtered using the same value.

Table QBE-Filter BUG in combination with Application Module Pooling ?

Hi,
i use JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407, Java 1.6.0_14, ADF BC and ADF Faces.
I have one View Object, one Page with a panelCollection and a table with option filtering (create via drag-and-drop from datacontrol).
When I disable the application module pooling on the AM configuration and run the application, i can execute the query-by-example filter, but when I delete the filterCriteria and press enter (requerry for select all) the table shows the old data.

When I enable application module pooling all works fine. Is this a issue?

if I filter for employees which firstname starts with "D" and then for employees with "F" --> i see "No data to display.".
So uncheck "Enable Application Module Pooling" on application module doesn't work with QBE-Filter ?
I can send a testcase but it is so simple you can create it with jdeveloper in 2 minutes ;)

Copy BW template (cube, query, web application) to multiple BW systems

We have a set of cube, query and web applications in a BW system. And we'd like to copy the set of objects to other BW systems as a BW template.
(Q1) We know we can transfer the set of obejcts to other BW systems by using STMS and AWB. But if so we have to make connection between two systems. We'd like to avoid coping the template via internet or intranet.
Is it possible to copy the BW template to other BW systems by using CD-ROM/DVD?
(Q2) When we do copy the template, if there is an InfoObject with same name existing in copy-to system, I suppose there will be an error. Is there a solution to avoid this situation?

here are more details for the procedure mentioned above:
Datafiles of transport requests are in most SAP-Installations located in /usr/sap/trans/data. They are named R<# of transport request>.<SID>
The cofiles are in most SAP-Installtions located in /usr/sap/trans/cofiles. They are named K<# of transport request>.<SID>
Do NOT change the names of the files. We've discovered that it's safer to zip those files, as some virus scanners in email-servers may scramble the files.
Locate the files in the appropriate directory of the target system and go to the import-queue using STMS.
Chose Extras / Other requests / Add to add the request to the queue (note: you must use the request number of the source-system e.g. <SID>K900123)
When you start the import, choose option "Overwrite Objects in unconfirmed Repairs", when you want existing objects to be overridden.

ASO reporting cube over Planning application

Hi All,
We have a requirement where we need to create an ASO reporting cube over a HP application (1 plan type only). (The HP app is deployed via EPMA but with local dimensions.)
(v11.1.2.1)
Note that this needs to be automated for monthly load process so the solution needs to be dynamic in nature.
1. Is there any way to automate BSO to ASO conversion?
2. Is there any way to automate 'Map to reporting' option in HP application?
Can any one suggest the best practice to do this.

You can copy dimensions within the Shared Library, within an application, or between the Shared Library and an application. You cannot copy a dimension directly from one application to another.

You can still make your Planning dimension local and Share them to Shared Library. You can then move the shared library dimension to Essbase application and keep that as Local (but why all local dimensions and use EPMA?)
2. To resync you have a dimension resync command (load them to Shared or individual app, I still don't see a point why you are using EPMA if all dimenions are local)

3. I never used that one, however tried it on Sample Basic and found that it is not converting BSO formulas to MDX formulas. (Not a very helpful one, it just converts your BSO hier to ASO hier)

Well if you are writing the filter driver, there are approaches. For instance you can open the device it is filtering, but have unique IOCTL's for the filter to handle, or you can create a control device(s) to open, once open the filter can receive
IOCTL's that are used to manage the filtered path.

Multiple filter for cube drill through

Hi,
I am using MS-Analysis service 2012 to develop cube and office 2013 to browse the cube data.
I knew that drill through action will not work for Excel 2007 and below if the user selected multiple filter. is there any option available for Excel 2o12?
It is very important for our client to have multiple filter and drill through the details.

Conversion/Mapping from BW FI-GL Cube to Legal Application

When I try to extract the FI-GL Actuals data from BW to BPC. I do not have the ConsGroup infoobject in BW. Do I need to create a Zinfoobject in BW and map that to Consgroup Dimension in BPC eventually. As the BW Zinfoobject have teh conversion as
None(External) to G_NONE(INternal). Is this true.

Hi Vara.....
you do not have to create anything in BW. If you think some constant value is flowing into BPC then you can use *STR(constant) and assign the same to the BPC dimension. this will solve your problem
for example:
CONSGROUP=*str(G_NONE)
keep this in the transformation file... this should solve your problem....

SRM Application Monitor filter errors badi/exit

Hi Guys,
We want to filter the items from the application monitor error list (PO Backend errors and SC Backend errors).
We want to let the user see only the PO/SC errors that belong to his purchasing organization.
I wasn't able to find any exit/badi for these particular views.
Do you know if there's any exit or any wda that could be enhanced to make this filter work?
I found a BADI for the SC Monitor, but I want one for the errors.

Cube Export Fails - stops all databases in application

Hi all,
I have a problem with some cubes in an application, when I go to export them, the export process will have hung and never completes, and all of the databases in the application will have stopped.
In the Essbase.log file I get:

OK, thats very sound advice. I actually have 10 databases under the single application. So I may move them into seperate applications.
One of the dimensions is dense - although I have other databases with dense dimensions and they seem OK.
I even tried using the EAC Migrate wizard to move the offending cube to my local development environment, delete it off the server then migrate it back but it still exhibited the same problem. Luckily the data contained within I could easily reload from our OLTP system so the export itself was somewhat superfulous but I just don't like the thought that one or more of the cubes has a data problem in some manner.

How to deploy one common filter for all web applications

I want to deploy a filter for all the web applications i have running on weblogic server. I don't want to deploy the filter just within a specific web
context, was able to achieve this on tomcat as it provides a common web.xml
which will apply to all web apps. But i don't know how to achieve this on Weblogic. Your help would so much appreciated.

EssbaseCluster-1 in 11.1.2 - giving users filter access

I am attempting to grant users filter access to an Essbase application in 11.1.2.1
In Shared services I am right-mouse-clicking on the application under the EssbaseCluster-1 node, and selecting "Assign Access Control", but no users are displayed when I click the "Search" button. I have previously provisioned some users with filter access in HSS, but no success.
Any suggestions folks ?

OK its as simple as the user having a higher level of access to the cube via membership of a group !
Adding a user with just server access & filter access to the cube enables "Assign Access Control" to operate properly !
