Find applied patches-Little Diff

Hai all,
How to find out the patches applied during a particular period..
I understand that this can be done through ad_bugs and OAM.. but lets say am applying a Fpack which internally applies so many small patches..so when ad_bugs is queried, it shows all the pacthes applied with that Fpack with the family pack. But any idea how I can retrieve only the physical patch applied..In otherwords, in the above scenario, the Fpack which is applied.
Any ideas

Kai,
Check the query in the following note.
If applied_flag returns N --> The patch was not applied with adpatch directly
If applied_flag returns Y --> The patch was applied with adpatch directly

  • How to find versions of application server components to apply patches

    Hi,
I have Oracle Application server 10.1.2.0.2 installed in my linux box.
    under metalink.oracle.com
    1. i read documentation Doc ID: 420061.1 in metalink about patches and i did find one patch# 5922120 for my application middletier.
but when i did a metalink search i did see some patches for my database version which were not critical
so if they are not critical and if my application server is working fine then do i need to apply these patches.
My application server version is 10.1.2.0.2
and my apalication server infrastructure version is 10.1.0.4.2
during my metalink searches i found the following patches which were uner normal priority. they are:
    patch numbers: 5127390, 5094712, 5605377
    Can someone guide me.
Bottom line is: do i need to apply these patches unless they are critical and they are requred for my applications.
Also i have one more basic question is
How do i find out individual component versions in my application server like Portal, discoverer, EM, EM agent, etc?
    Thanks in advance,
    Philip.

    Philip,
    You have a similar environment to ours. We actually have two Oracle environments: 91) 10gDB 10.1.0.5 / 10gAS 9.0.4.3, and (2) 10gDB 10.2.0.3 / 10gAS 10.1.2.0.3.
In regards to what patches, I look at two items: the latest patchset for DB and AS, and the Critical Patch Updates(CPU). Often, the CPU will drive what patchset you will need to be at. For example, with the CPU April 2007, we had to move to patchset 3 for our AS (9.0.4.3) since that is the only 10gAS R1 that Oracle provided CPU patches.
As far as version ID, I have not found one single area to acquire this. For Portal, you can invoke Portal, http://host/pls/portal, logon as 'portal', then Administer, Global Settings, and at the bottom of the page is the version.
For other products like Forms and Discover, you can find the version when the tool is invoked.
Not quite as nice as the DB side where dba_registry will give you all the goodies.

    John

  • Finding CPU Patch and PSU applied

    hi all,
How do we find that which and when cpu and psu patches are applied. do we apply this for individual databases or for complete oracle software.
    thank you!

How do we find that which and when cpu and psu patches are applied. do we apply this for individual databases or for complete oracle software.
    >
What version are you on and what version of opatch?
To find out what PSU's you have applied, you can do this at OS level
    $> opatch lsinv -bugs_fixed | grep -i psu
From database (depending upon your version), you can do this to find all patches applied to your database:
    col ACTION format a15
    col NAMESPACE format a15
    col version format a10
    col COMMENTS format a42
    col BUNDLE_SERIES format a20
    col action_time format a30
select * from sys.registry$history;do we apply this for individual databases or for complete oracle software.
    >
Some patches are for software only while some affect both software and database. This is very generic question/answer

    Hi,
You can run below query to find out specific patch number:
select bug_id, bug_number from ad_bugs where bug_number='&no.';Also you can find out using OAM > Sitemap > Maintenance > Applied Patches - here search for specific patch
You can see all applied patches in you env using patchset.sh utility

  • How to apply patches

I'm trying to apply patches to dbxml 2.2.13.
I'm pretty sure I'm alone in finding this tricky...but here goes:
Each patch seems to need some different -p arg to strip some arbitrary bit of the path. Am I missing something obvious here?
A couple (eg patch 6 shown below) don't work (I tried downloading using different browsers just in case they're not saving plaintext right)...
    patch -p1 < ../patch.2.2.13.6
missing header for context diff at line 3 of patch
    (Stripping trailing CRs from patch.)
    patching file src/dbxml/nodeStore/NsEventGenerator.cpp
    Hunk #1 FAILED at 357.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file src/dbxml/nodeStore/NsEventGenerator.cpp.rej
Again, I've not used patch before so apologies for being thick.

    Jacoby,
I think you're right. The patch files have somehow become inconsistent that way. The code portions are still correct.
I'll look into fixing this, but in the mean time, if you hand edit the patch files so that the relative paths to the individual files involved is consistent, they'll work better.

    George

    Thanks yet again to Hussein.
I am a little worried that I couldnt find that same document.
I entered in ML "The POR SSP HOME function is not available" ....and that document did not appear.
Then I entered it with underscores : "The POR_SSP_HOME function is not available" ... and now I can see the doc.
How did you do your search?! I am guessing you used udnerscores or else something different? ? ?
    Thanks, and still curious,

By the way we are told to "clear" the _pages directory. I would do this with

    Hi,
I have tried all of your suggestions but I still have the issue with Error 1328 and the following message:
“Error applying patch to file D:\Config.Msi\PT78AF.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means and no longer can it be modified by this patch”. The Patch seems to update other files successfully, so is this an issue if this does not update this file and as previously stated I cannot find the file that it refers to on either drives (C:\ or D:\).

  • Applying patches to physical standby node(Data Guard 10.2.0.3)

    Hello,
I have a data guard 10.2.0.3 environment (1 primary and 1 physical standby on a separate node) on solaris 10 and i want to document the procedure in applying patches to this environment.
I saw the article in Metalink Note 278641.1 which describes the procedure in applying a patchset to both nodes. It looks like both nodes need to be down before applying the oracle patchset.
Can we not apply the patches on only the standby while the primary stays up and running? My guess is you can't if the patches are significant i.e. it changes versions of the oracle binaries. But i want to confirm this.
Also, if we are applying solaris patches, i.e. nothing related to Oracle, we should be able to just apply them to the standby while keeping the primary up and running right?
The following has worked so far but i wanted to find some documentation that confirms it's ok.
    1. shutdown oracle on standby node.
    2. apply solaris patches...
    3. restart oracle on standby node and put in managed recovery mode.
    Any comments are appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi
Did you get an answer for your question yet? I have the same problem with one of our databases. Would be very nice, if you could tell me.

    Hi Purav,
just find the sapinst files and execute it (but make sure that you have extracted only the relevant files!)
Start with the sapinst in the folder J2EE
    J2EE:
    J2EERT<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    SAPINST<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    CTRL<DB><SP>_<PL>.SAR
    J2EERTOS<SP>_<PL>.SAR
Then continue with the one in portal:
    Portal:
    EP6CTRL<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    EP6TOOLS<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    EP6PORTAL<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    SAPINST<SP>_<PL>.SAR
And after that is finished start the last sapinst:
    CM+COLLABORATION
    EP6KMC<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    EP6CTRL<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    EP6TOOLS<SP>_<PL>.SAR
    SAPINST<SP>_<PL>.SAR

I am also trying to install the Metadata Repository into a Standard Edition RAC database.
Or did you find a way to make it work without the patch?
