Finding menu location of item in "Find All Bookmarks"

In Firefox 9.0.1 for Windows 7, when I "Show all Bookmarks" and search for one, the Library window shows me the bookmark but not its placement in the bookmark menu tree. Is there a way to get that info without manually traversing the whole tree folder by folder?

Try this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/show-parent-folder/
After install and re-starting Firefox
*open Library window ''Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks''
*right-click on right pane column '''headings''', check/click the column headings you want displayed; '''Parent Folder''' column is added by above extension
*drag column headings right/left to position that suit your needs.

  • Why can't I find "organize bookmarks" in the bookmarks drop-down menu? I read that Show all bookmarks has replaced it, but there is no way that I can see to manage/organize them from this screen.

    As stated above

    As you already guessed:
*"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.
What do you see when you open that window?

  • After a recent update, the Bookmarks menu has an extra folder called "All Bookmarks" which appears to be a copy of the bookmarks. It is causing problems and how do I fix it?

I recently updated Firefox. The Bookmarks menu shows a new menu item called "All Bookmarks". It appears to be a copy of the bookmarks. When I try to add a new bookmark, the All Bookmarks folder is the only one shown in the dialog. I tried deleting the All Bookmarks folder, but then nothing is shown in the dialog when I try to add a new bookmark.
If I do add a new bookmark, it is put under the All Bookmarks folder and does not show up under the top-level item I want it under. Any ideas about what I can do to fix this.
The update went normally without my intervention.
    Thanks

I was able to fix the problem after following the bookmark backup and restore procedures on the following page:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite#Problems_limited_to_bookmarks
I also had to restart Firefox so that the "Bookmark This Page" dialog would show the normal bookmarks.
    Thanks.

  • I think I crashed my Finder - Menu bar won't display, Finder windows either

    Help!
I attached a new external HD yesterday (a Western Digital MyBook) to use as the Time Machine disk. Started a brand new backup and went out. When I got back to the house, about 14 of 250 GB had backed up but the system had hung -- no amount of key presses got anything working -- it was just hung, stuck, dead. Against my better judgment I switched off the power strip everything is plugged into and re-booted.
System came back up, but when I click the Finder or Trash icons in the dock, nothing happens. I've also got no menu bar, unless an app is running -- then I have that app's menus but not the finder ones. Also, icons for internal HD, both external HDs, MobileMe disk, etc -- don't display on the desktop and there's no way to get at them, it appears.
Is there some sort of bootup routine I can try or do I need to re-install Leopard? The Time Machine backup started over and seems to be progressing normally. If I let this finish, will I be able to restore my system that way?
    Thanks everyone...
    -- Scott

And, I just answered my own question. I repaired the disk permissions (for my internal HD) with Disk Utility and now everything is back to normal. I wiped the External HD and started the Time Machine backup again and so far, so good...
    Should anyone find this useful...

    What might be up ?

    Hi cldjr!
To remedy that Repair Permissions error, follow the instructions here Disk Utility Has "Lost Connection" With "Disk Management Tool", authored by Mac Fool.
Once you have done that, proceed to Repair Permissions again. Rerun it until the only errors reported are listed in this article Spurious Permissions Errors Using: 10.3.x
It isn't necessary to run Verify, just run Repair.

  • My Finder menu, HD, and dock all disappeared after I mistakenly downloaded a bogus version of Firefox. How do I get them back?

I think I may have gotten some sort of virus after downloading a "bogus"  Free version of Firefox. I uninstalled Firefox immediately, because I noticed my Macbook was acting strangely, but the next time I turned it on, my HD, Finder menu, and dock were all gone! Basically there is now an empty, blue screen. I have booted in safe mode and deleted preferences, but nothing is working.

This probably is the mistake you made.  Many sites that offer application downloads also include adware as an unrequested 'bonus'.  Try AdwareMedic and it should take care of the unwanted ad popups:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
If no success, the use the Apple support procedure, which is a lot more complicated:
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987
The lesson is, always download from the developers web site or from the APP store.  That way no unwanted items will not be included.

  • FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id ( forms 10g Menus/Forms Conversion )

    Hi All ,
We have menus converted into forms 10g using the forms migration assistant FMA ( frmplsqlconv ) . Now , we had the menus (.mmb) which had used Shared Menus.
After conversion observed that there were some duplicate copies of the shared menus created automatically and each reference where this shared menu was used was replaced by the newly created ones.
Now , when I open the form that uses the menu I get the following error :
FRM : 41067 Cannot find menu item id
On debuggin observed the the above error was generated at :
    set_menu_item_property(SHARED_MENU.ITEM,.... )
Not sure how this worked in forms earlier version and not working in 10g now.
Could anyone please let me know how to go about to fix this issue and why is this happening at the first point.
Is re-creating the menu from scratch the only option to resolve the issue ?
    Please advise ..
    Thanks ,

  • Cannot find menu item:Invalid Id

    Hi there,
I am trying to access the menu attached to my form by setting the enabled properties of menu items based on privileges.
    I use the following set_menu_item_property:
    SET_MENU_ITEM_PROPERTY('menu.item_name', ENABLED, PROPERTY_FALSE);
But I get an error message saying:
    "Cannot find menu item:Invalid Id"
Can somebody help me please with this.
    Thanks.

the error says you have not put the menu item name properly...what is the structure of the menu...? one thing you can do is in object navigator locate the menu item name and identify its parent. and use it in the command like for eg.
    set_menu_item_property('adminmenu.users',enabled,property_false);KK

Just for clearification, and I think we've been through this before, and for the sake of an academic argument (), I don't agree the plist is the most important.
I don't recall discussing it before, but clearly we should.
I say the launchagent is the most important because nothing can get executed (launched) without it.  All the plist does is define a bunch of environment variables that the executing code (launched by the launchagent) uses.  If the code doesn't execute the environment variables are just a bunch of "noise".  Explain to me why the definition of the env variables is more important than the launcher.  It's splitting hairs of course since both should be removed but I still want to know why you consider it more important than the launcher.
After reviewing the evidence, I'm ready to conceed that the launcher, the executable and the hidden file are the most important. My statement goes way back to where this all started in late September with the revelation here that there might be a hidden file called environment.plist that would prevent login. It is also the most difficult to find and delete. Apparently if the dylib is not where it belongs you can't log in.
According to Linc, who seems to be the only one here who has analysed the installed version, said the environment.plist was blank, but Andy said it set an environmental variable for the dylib, which I believe since that's what it's function is.
I don't think we know what happens if the LaunchAgent remains but the environment and dylib are removed. What normally happens is that a few milliseconds tick off while it tries to find the dylib followed by an entry in the system.log and nothing else.
IMHO, we have way too little experience with this thing to declare any component more important than all others, they seem to be tightly integrated. I believe the log file is only there to hold a unique ID code which may be an encrypted version of the UUID, machine and architecture codes.  That makes it least important in my view.

  • Under Finder Menu what are all the entries shown and is it OK to delete them?

All My Files, under the Finder menu shows every web site, item, log, email, favicon that I have ever clicked on. Is this normal and is it OK to delete all this? I would think my HD will fill up very soon at this rate.

DON'T delete them - they are your files!
It is not filling anything up. This is just a view of all your files, it is not creating any copies of them, wherever they are on your hard drive.
If, like me, you don't like seeing *all* your files at once - I have hundreds of thousands, organized just the way I want them, so I have no use for this feature - just go to the Finder preferences and uncheck it:
    Finder->Preferences->Sidebar
and uncheck the box that says "All my files".
(or, alternatively: control-click on the "All my files" icon in one Finder window's sidebar, and click "remove from sidebar").

  • Spotlight does not open a finder window when i choose Show all in finder menu?

I have a significant number of files in my Macbook Air. A lot of them are research papers and medical literature.
About a month ago I updated the operating system from snow Leopard to mountain Lion and I had no reasons to complain except a smaller battery time.
Since then I installed every OS update.
After the last update, a few days ago, Spotlight does not open a finder window when i choose Show all in finder menu.
Spotlight continues to work properly if I write a name or expression in spotlight in a finder window but not in the upper left corner at the menu bar
    As this been described yet?
    Thank you in advance
    Miguel Tavares

I had the same problem yesterday after performing a clean install of Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on my MacBook Pro.
I resolved the problem by booting from the Mountain Lion Recovery Partition and then running Disk Utilty (Repair) for the primary disk on which Mountain Lion is installed.  It identified (and repaired) many permissions issues...
When I rebooted following the repair, Spotlight worked again properly -- including the "Show All in Finder" function.
