FiOS TV: First Impressions of a New Customer

I’ve been a DirecTV customer for about 10 years. D* has been my primary provider except for 2 years when Dish Network was. I had switched to E* because D* had something like 12 HD channels while E* had the VOOM Network channels. I dropped E* like a hot potato when they dropped VOOM, and D* took the lead in HD content.
I’ve had DVRs for the past 10 years. I have a 55” Hitachi plasma HDTV, as well as HD DVD and Blu-ray players. So basically, I’m a well-educated consumer with lots of grounds for comparison.
I just had FiOS installed over the weekend. I switched for 3 reasons: to save money, get more HD content, and to get better HD quality. Here’s how I think that FiOS TV measures up to D* and E*:
HD Quality: D* and E* both have very good HD quality, E* probably a little better than D*. FiOS is better than both though; it simply has the best HDTV picture that I have seen – the colors are more vivid and the picture sharper. It is very near Blu-ray quality. It’s beautiful, really.
HD Content: I’m a big fan of premium movie channels; yes, good old fashioned linear movie channels. I use NetFlix too but sometimes I just want to channel surf. As I write this I’m watching “Shooter” with Mark Wahlberg. I never would have rented this movie, or watched it on demand, but it’s pretty good.
Including East and West Coast feeds, FiOS has 42 HD premium movie channels compared to 15 on D*, and for just $30/month. There’s no comparison really.
Pricing: Bundling my phone, Internet and TV with FiOS will save me $90/month for the first 3 months and $50/month for 9 months after that, for a total savings of approximately $720. Plus my Internet speed went from 3 mbps with DSL to 20 mbps with FiOS.
DVR: The best DVR that I’ve had was an UltimateTV DirecTV receiver that I bought 10 years ago – that box rocked, it had PIP, a great guide, and it was very responsive.
When I upgraded to HD I got the original DirecTivo – {please keep your posts courteous}  No PIP, a super-slow guide, no video or audio when viewing the guide or menus, etc. This crappy D* HD DVR was part of my motivation for switching to E*.
Dish Network’s DVR was very good, almost as good as UltimateTV. It had PIP, a true 16:9 guide, and was easily extendable via a USB hard drive.
When I went back to D* I upgraded to their HR2* series DVR and it was pretty good, much better than the old DirecTivo. It had a big hard drive. The guide was OK, 4:3 stretched to 16:9. It was hard to change Favorite lists though. It was also a little sluggish, and it didn’t have PIP.
The best thing about FiOS’s DVR is that it is very responsive; when changing channels, the channels come up quickly. The DVR controls are also quick. I like the idea of the guide – different colors for different types of shows (red for movies, green for sports, etc.) but the non-stretched 4:3 aspect ratio is TERRIBLE; I don’t need a true 16:9 guide but at least stretch the 4:3 guide to 16:9!
The hard drive is tiny – only 20 hours of HD content. However, I’ve seen rumors on the Internet that Verizon will be adding external hard drive support in ’09.
No PIP currently but the box has DLB and technically will support PIP; Verizon just has to do the work on the software side. And they should!
Installation: The install went OK. The installer was an older guy and he was very good. The only bummer was that when another contractor previously ran the fiber to my house he cut it for some reason. So the installer had to call in his boss to splice it. I don’t know if this affects the quality or not but it freaks me out a little bit.
Customer service: Poor so far. I was supposed to have the Extreme HD package but only had the Essentials package when the box was activated. I had to talk to literally a dozen people before I got to someone who could actually help me. With D* and E* I usually got someone who could help right away, and they could push the signal immediately. With FiOS, it took hours to upgrade the service.
Every system has its warts and FiOS has a few. However, all in all FiOS seems like a darn good deal! IMHO, it’s a keeper!

Welcome to the forums!
I had DirecTV before I made the switch to Fios.  We had plenty of issues with DirecTV that made my wife and I so frustrated that we had to switch to something else.  DTVs hardware was a joke and we would always lose our satellite signal during your average rain shower, even though our sat signal always showed high 90s during clear days.  Their DVRs were the worse and we found ourselves resetting them several times a week just because they frequently locked up or started behaving strangely.
Fios definitely has their issues, especially their DVR.  I'm crossing my fingers that most of their issues will be resolved with this upcoming major firmware release.  You should report back to us in a month and give us an update on your impressions after having Fios for a while.

  • FiOS Internet Activation fee NOT Waived - New Customer

Until Apr-2015, 2014 we were using residential services of a competitor ISP and experienced very poor customer service and many hidden billing charges. We had to live with it because our apartment doesn't have the setup for other service providers. So we decided to switch to a different provider once the lease ended and we chose Verizon because of its exceptional Internet sped and Quuality customer service. On 07/09/2015 I placed an order Verizon FiOS for my new apartment and was exceited! The order was palced through a local FiOS agent and I chose the FiOS double pay (50/50 package). Over the phone I was very specific to ask for any hidden charges and the agent mentioned no hidden charges and I would be paying the Bundle price plus rent for router and set-top-box. I also checked if there would be any installation or activation and the Agent did mention that it will all be waived for 'New-Customers'. To double confirm, I called up the verizon customer service the same day and they mentioned the same. Thinking it was hassle-free, I requested my agent to place an order. When I received my first bill, I found a charge of $69.99 for FiOS Internet Activation Fee split into 3 months with first installment of $23.33. I assumed it could be an error or usual routine and hoped it would be waived if I call up and request (like the competitor). I reached out to an agent via chat initially and explained the situation. To my surprise I was told that there are 'no notes in the order mentioning the activation fee will be waived, so it cannot be honored'. Surpsied and shocked, I called up the customer service and mentioned the same story again. This time the answer was 'We never mentioned this will be waived and have never waived for any customers. Like others, this charge has to be paid'. I insisted that the local agent and the customer service agent I spoke on 07/09/2015 did mention that the activation fee would be waived. It is also clearly mentioned here that activatoin fee will be waived for Double-Pay (See attached image and link below http://www.verizon.com/home/bundles/fios)  I am very disappointed and just tired of making phone calls and debating with custoomer service. The only reason I switched to verizon was there is a lot of transparency, no surprises and BEST CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. And I wouldn't ask for something I am not entitled to or promised initially. And, If this is what I am going to experience with Verizon to get this waiver or any other reason, I could very well manage to stay with the competitior so there are no disappointments :-(. I am hereby requesting the team to validate this and give a better solution for a new-customer who switched services to Verizon and willing to continue for a longer duration.

  • Merry Christmas, My "New" PB, First Impressions...

My first post and first Mac:
Not new to computers, but new to Macs. As a rule, I try to help other users as at least as much as the help I receive. That won't be the case on this forum, as I'm a total Mac noob. Perhaps, as time passes, I'll be able to field simple questions, but that may take a while.
This Christmas we replaced our son's two year old PB with an MBP. We got the hand-me-down. We wouldn't even own a Mac, except it's required by his college for digital design. This is also my first notebook, so I guess many issues are unique to that fact.
After one day of ownership, I've had the following observations:
    1. During file transfer over airport, application "locked up", or was "unresponsive". My son used the equivalent of the Windows Task Manager to close it.
    2. iTunes was unusable because, "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder." Resolved by changing properties of... something, didn't get the full story yet, but it has to do with changing administrator of the computer.
    3. Bluetooth does not have A2DP protocol... bummer!
    4. Saw the DVD unable to be ejected from his MBP during OS installation. Sheesh!
Well, that's it so far. I will be back with questions, because he'll be going back to school in a couple weeks. I generally find answers via Google, but sometimes that's not enough. My first impressions are a little disappointing, but maybe that's because I've heard too much hype, such as "It Just Works", and "Switch to a Mac and You'll Never Go Back". I own it, now I'm gonna use it by hook or by crook!

One other point I forgot to mention was regarding the rubber feet on the bottom. One was lost, so my son removed a second in order for it to sit level. Online, I found the price of replacements at $20.00! I'm using a couple old mouse feet in the mean time, but is there not an aftermarket source for such items at a reasonable price?
Probably not, but who cares? If you can let go of having to have the exact size, thickness, and material, you can do what I've done for years: Go to your neighborhood hardware store or drugstore and pick up a $1 sheet of little self-adhesive rubber feet. There are many kinds, of course, mostly hovering around one dollar for more than you'll ever need. The ones I picked are clear, so no one notices they don't quite match, and thicker, so they absorb shock better and raise the back another millimeter or two for better bottom ventilation, and they "grab" better so the laptop no longer slides around with a slight nudge. These are actually better than the original equipment feet.

My PowerBook G4 has 13.29GB of music in iTunes, doesn't seem to be any problem. On the Mac Pro I've got 30GB of audio and video.

  • New Customer - Have had MISERABLE experience with Verizon service and Customer service

I am a brand new customer of Verizon Fios and so far I have zero good things to say about it.  If it wasn't for the aggrevation of switching cable companies, I most definitely would go back to Comcast.
I moved into a new home in the middle of April.  The previous owner had Verizon Fios in this house, so there was minimal installation that had to be done when I initially set up my cable.  My house was pretty much empty at the time, so we had the TV's set up where we had a place to put it (upstairs, kitchen, and living room).  We recently bought bedroom furniture, so we could now move the TV to where we initially wanted it, in our bedroom.  However when we tried to hook it up to an outlet, no picture came though.  This is when my awful experience with verizon customer service (or lack there of) began.
I took time out of my work day to call Verizon about this problem.  I was on hold for about 30 mins until I actually heard a human's voice.  He was unable to help me since I was not at home to unplug and plug things back in.
I called again when I was home, this time I was on hold for about 20 mins (wow)... the first person could not help me, so she transferred me to another department... put on hold for 35 mins.... this perosn couldnt help me either and they transferred me back to the SAME DEPARTMENT I WAS INITIALLY TRANSFERRED FROM.... put on hold for about 45 mins... finally i speak with someone that knows what they are talking about.  Of course I have to go through all the same steps that I did the first time which did not work.  As this person decides I need a technician, he begins to look up available dates... and then after an hour and 35 mins on the phone, it gets disconnected!  I wait for 5 minutes to get a call back but I get NOTHING.  I spent now 2 hours trying to deal with this and verizon doesnt even call me back when its their phone that gets disconnected? Thats terrible.
I call back after 10 mins and am put on hold right away (obviously).... after 25 mins of being on hold, shocker - the call is disconnected again.
That was enough for one day
I call back again the next day... same old thing... put on hold for 30 mins, talk to one person who cant help me, transferred to another department and put on hold for 20 more mins.
Finally with the tech department who says they are going to schedule a tech to come out to fix the problem but also mentioned they are going to charge me $55 for this! Are you kidding me?????? Verizon wastes about 4 hours of my life and busy day and then has the nerve to say they are going to charge me for it? I asked the person several times if I could speak with a manager or supervisor, they never let me.  I asked multiple times and she just said that they wouldnt be able to help me and that the charge would stick.
I can't imagine that anyone would treat a brand new customer like this.  I will not recommend Verizon to any one until I see some kind of help or REAL customer service from them.

I did call them this morning, and still on the phone.
I will say this - the reps are very friendly and do try to help in earnest.  That's been my experience overall with Verizon.  So in terms of the actual people, I give them an A+.
In terms of their system and how they process things, they get a big fat F.   The very idea that I sent back a phone with accessories and their warehouse only registered the return of the phone pretty much says that there is something fishy going on there at the warehouse.   And it took an hour to sort this out so far and counting.
The thing that bugs me about Verizon is how complicated it is to get everything straightened out.
Right now, they are trying to sort out the activation fee - I already have been charged one and now they are trying to figure out if i have to pay another one.   Another 15 minutes just on that.
Everything has been resolved.   Thankfully, Verizon's saving grace is that their reps are nice people.

  • Just took delivery of my 2.8GHz MacBook Pro - first impressions...

Well, my very first impression was - WHO THE HECK OPENED MY BOX? It was shipped in its original packaging, which was put into a brown shipping box. As I was opening the brown box, it was very clear to me that someone opened it and re-taped it. The same was true for the Apple box. The original clear tape was cut opened and another clear strip was placed over it. I did not have anything custom configured/installed, so there is no reason any of the boxes should have been opened. My only other guess is that customs opened it?? Has anyone else experienced this?
The next thing I noticed was the battery cover. When closed and latched, it shifts up and down when shifted up and down. In other words, it's not seated solidly.... it's loose. Appears to be a flaw to me. Only wondering if it's just a flaw on my unit or if it's affecting others. Please chime in.
Last thing I feel like I should note is internet connectivity. I have a wireless router. Both my other desktop (PM MDD G4) and laptop (PB G4) are wifi. I configured my new MacBook Pro to connect to the wireless router and it all connected as seemless as could be, as expected. I also noted that the wireless reception was exceptional! My wireless router is in the living room and when in the back room of the house, my Powerbook G4 gets 2 bars and can be sporadic. This new MacBook Pro is great as it has all bars lit everywhere in the house and is always consistent! Improvement on wifi pickup! Fantastic.
That being said, I did run into the problem of losing connectivity even with the bars all lit. I checked the network config and for some very odd reason, my IP kept switching from 192.168.x.x to 169.x.x.x. After restarting both my cable modem and wireless router, it fixed itself. After 10 minutes though, it returned to the screwed up config! I reset both router and cable modem again and it was fine for another few minutes and then BACK TO the bogus config Weird! After wrestling with it for about an hour I determined that I should take it into the Apple Store and let them see what's going on... but it began working fine for the rest of the evening with no problem. I still think I'll take it in just to see if others have experienced it. Please, let me know if anyone here has experienced it.
Otherwise, my first evening with it was not too bad. I will report my good and bad (hopefully no bad) findings as they come!
    Thanks!

Thank you all for your responses. I have made arrangements with Apple to take it back and send me a new one. Gotta mention that Apple customer service was very polite, but wow, I was put on hold VERY frequently and for VERY, VERY long periods of time! I'm talking like 10 to 15 minutes at a time!! And one time I was put on hold and after about 10 minutes the call was dropped and when I called back, all of the arrangements that were supposedly made for me were NOT even documented by the person who was helping me and so there was no record of the fact that I even called at all, which in turn rendered all that time I was on with them and on hold, USELESS! I had to restate the entire issue and start from scratch!! And I was promptly put on hold after doing so... AGAIN! And again! And AGAIN!! ...sigh. Then finally I was told that I would receive an e-mail from Apple tonight, explaining the steps I must follow to get my replacement MacBook Pro. It is almost 6 hours later and I have not received the e-mail. This makes me think that tomorrow, I am going to have to call them AGAIN (GASP!!!) and try to figure out why the e-mail was not sent. Oh brother!! The next worse thing they could tell me is that I have to send the MacBook Pro back to them and they will not send out the new one to me until they receive it! I hope they don't do that! ...sigh. : (

  • New customer - major installation delay - do I bot...

    Hi!!
Realllyyyy not happy! Wanted to move my custom to BT but not sure if I will bother now!
Submitted an order for telephone and Infinity broadband on Saturday and in my initial information, I was informed that the router etc. would be delivered next Monday.  I thought 'okay, small delay but no worries'!
I then get an email this evening informing us that our activation date will be on the 5th December 2012?!!! What?!!!!!
I really need an internet connection for work purposes, etc. so I called up to speak to someone to hopefully get this rectified - I thought surely this can't be right?! So the first person I spoke to ("John") I found extremely rude and patronizing and had an attitude of 'well thats it, tough, it would be the same wherever you went'! I got rather irate and asked if I could be put through to someone who would treat me in a manner which wasn't as though I was someone very small and insignificant.  I asked why there is not something on their website explaining that there is an extensive delay on activations on the BT website (you know, something like some companies have on there when there is disruption to deliveries due to bad weather or something) and he said that he did not know whether there was.  I assured him that there is not and said surely he knows the content of the website of the company for whom he works and he said 'no'.  John said that the activation date couldn't be changed and he would speak to someone about us having Wifi through the Openzone until connection.
Was put through to someone who was most unhelpful.  When I asked what on earth all this meant he asked if his colleague had not explained and I said that they hadn't - he said this was 'most unusual'.  He tried to go through something with me but I could not find a connection for BT Openzone so he has given me another number to call.  Having looked into the BT Openzone thing, I suspect it is because there is not a strong enough connection nearby.  We are wanting to join BT as we are moving home so I typed in our new postcode as well which appears to be even worse so the BT Openzone access is going to be next to useless!!  I then asked to be put back through to the cancellations department.
I spoke to someone called 'Charlotte' who was very helpful - unlike her colleagues - and I explained my frustrations.  As a new customer, this is not a very good start! Charlotte admitted that there have been problems since the summer and whilst new engineers have been hired to help clear the backlog but they have only just gone into training! As we were talking, she realised that new customers coming to BT in the next couple of weeks would probably not get an activation date until after Christmas! Charlotte thought it would be a very good idea to have something on the BT website and admitted that a number of customers have already been lost.
So, my question is what is going to be done to help me or should I take my custom elsewhere?! Not impressed at all!!!!

    Hi Keith,

I actually use a Zoom 3G wifi unit, which allows you to plug in a standard 3G dongle, and it then creates is own wifi network, so that many computers can connect, including your Ipad.
    Zoom 4506
I have two 3G dongles, one for BT mobile broadband, and one for the 3 mobile network, which has much better 3G coverage, and allows you to topup for just a day if you need it.
Very useful when away from home, of if you lose your Internet connection
Anyway, its just a thought, while you wait your turn.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • New Customer with Service Issue

I am very frustrated with Verizon & customer service. Our family is new to Verizon within the last month. We drop calls all the time and get choppy service by our house. I talked to local store and they advised for me to call Customer Service. The representative made me reset my new phone and everything, then they sent me to next level support. The next level support did a case and tried to sell me an extender which I refused to do. I am a new customer who spent alot of money to switch why should a spend another $250. The next level suppport stated they would call me back today after the case was resolved & did not. After a few dropped calls today, I called back, the first next level support person wanted to reset my phone again and told me the engineer said there not really an issue. He had me on hold several times and on the phone for over 25 minutes. The call then dropped and rep never called me back. Got on the click to chat and Hannah called me to try to resolve. She sent me to next level support who could only offer to sell me the network extender. I feel that I should have never switched from AT&T to Verizon because they just want me to spend more money and not resolve my issue. I am stuck in a contract and if there is an emergency that happens in my area then my children will never be able to get ahold of me. My childrens safety is the most important thing to me but not to Verizon. Very disappointed!!!

    Why did you switch?
Why didn't you figure this out during the return period?
You don't have access to any landlines for children to contact you in an emergency?

  • Comcast new customer screen after firmware update

Every time I try to update my Airport Extreme's firmware, I get the Comcast new customer screen on my browser and can't access any pages other than that. I've had Comcast come out and they it is a problem with my router and not with them since I can surf the internet when my computer is hooked up directly to the modem. I've tried everything including resetting the Airport and cycling the power and nothing works. The only way I can continue to access the internet is when I upload the factory firmware version to the Airport. Has anyone had this problem before or have any suggestions on how to remedy this?

yeah I recall that pain in the butt problem. You probably had them(Comcast) install their so called mac software which you should not have done .
When my memory comes back I'll post the counter measure.
    Although try this in the meantime;
ethernet from Comcast modem to wan port of apple router. ethernet from your Mac to lan port of Apple router. Power off the modem and the router. Bring the modem up first then the router. Place the router using DHCP and set your wireless config if need be. Should work.

  • How can i view and apply new custom patterns without going to preset manager? i had this facility but have now lost it

how can i view and apply new custom patterns without going to preset manager? i had this facility but have now lost it.  i design patterns but am fairly new to photoshop. i used to be able to click on the drop down menu in patterns in the 'fill' box but cannot now do this.  have i inadvertently clicked on something to turn this facility off?  i now have to go to 'preset manager' and manually move my new design to the first box and click 'done' so that i can use it.

Which version of photoshop are you using?
After you define a custom pattern it should be added to the bottom of whatever patterns are already loaded.
For example, if you define a custom pattern and then go to Edit>Fill>Pattern, the newly defined pattern should have been added to the existing loaded patterns.

  • ITunes 11.0 First Impressions

    1. My first impression of the user interface is that it's "square" and "flat".
Esthetically I don't see it as an improvement. To the contrary, I think
       the former interface is nicer.
    2. After starting iTunes 11.0 it sat there for 1/2 an hour with the message
"Sending Information to Apple", then a dialog box displayed with:
We cannot complete your iTunes Store request
       An unknown error occurred (4002)
Note that three subsequent attempts resulted in the same iTunes match error.
    3. Could not find a way to change the BRIGHT WHITE background.  I hate the white
background for various reasons.  I'm sure many other customers preferred the dark
        background as well.
    4. Tried syncing my iPhone and had to cancel.  It was copying 49 apps, I believe
some of these were from my iPad.  Had to then restart iTunes.
    5. Movies in grid view have large gaps in between the rows of movies.
It is UGLY!  Is it just me, or do others have these huge gaps?
    6. Looking at my music, I see no way to view the songs in a list view.
Where are the convenient buttons which quickly allowed changing views?
Now there is just unused space where they used to be.  And all of
the menu items under View -> Column Browser are disabled.
       Why???
    7. Hey, at least they brought back color icons, which Apple deemed that
no one liked!  (That was sarcasm).
Overall I am extremely dissapointed with this update, and it has me wondering how the
most valuable company in the world could release something that looks more at home
    on a Linux desktop.

It's terrible. There is no symmetry in the views anymore. It is so bad, that it will take a lot of testing for me to figure out what is wrong with it. The only view that allows different views is the playlist view. I can't get an "artist list" for all my music. I can only get it for the currently selected playlist. I suppose I could make a playlist with all music. Where did sort by album by artist/year go? That's the view I used the most. I found it in the songs view. But there I can't see the album covers. It's so unsymmetrical now. Where did the status bar go that told me how many songs I selected and what the total play time is? I don't know if all my songs are there. The albums view and the videos views are worthless if you have 15,000 songs and videos. They just rearranged things. There's nothing new. There are things missing. The thing that needed fixing was synchronization. All that should be removed from iTunes, but they didn't make any changes to that. Can I go back to iTunes 10?

  • New Customer Field in CCM2.0

    Hi
I need a new customer field in catalog which I want in the shopping cart as well. I have used the allready created customer fields 1-5.
Do anyone know how to create a new OCI customer fields?
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards

    Hi
We have allready used the 5 standard customer fields in the catalog and want a new one.
    We use the standard for
    - "Asset class",
    - "No control" (for workflow),
    - "Approval" (for workflow),
    - "GL account" (different GL account within same UNSPSC class)
    - "High Level Articles" which control workflow and it is possible to change price and vendor in SC.
Then I need a new field for a responsible purchasing department (purchasing group). When a user buy an article with an responsible purchasing department the SC must be approved first before it runs the normal workflow.
For the above new fields I therefore need 6 customer fields.
The question is, can I create a new customer field or do I have to use a standard field in catalog and transfer this to a new field in SC??
    Best regards

  • Addtion of new custom field in PP order

    Hi All,
I am looking forward to add a new custom field in PP order and to link it with table AUFK in the existing tabs of PP order.
I dont want to use any existing field. Also I have only have an option of having a new custom tab with the new field altogether which I dont want to use.
Please help if possible how can I accomplish it.
    Rg,
    Vipul

    Hi Vipul,
Nobody works in all areas and nobody gives instant solutions to each problem. I told you in my first reply that we have done similar devlopment in material master..not in prod order and i clearly mentioned that possibilty is there.
Your Abaper might not be able to develop this because this is not easy and you also might not be able to give correct functional logic.
    Regards

  • CS-4 First Impressions

First impressions. I know, quite out of date but with all the apparent problems...
    System is a Lenovo 3000 series AMD 64x2 3800+
    Power supply upgraded
Memory 2 gig Crucial (maximum for the MB)
Video card is Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS - Latest drivers. Not on the supported list.
    Display is 1280 x 1024.
Windows XP Home SP-3, Net Framework 3.5 SP 1, and other Forum recommended updates that aren't handled by Windows Update.
    1.05 TB in three drives. (1 K=1024)
Working with a 6144x4111 pixel 16 bit ProPhoto digital photograph:
As installed, in the trial download, GUI settings, Photoshop swap file is NOT on the system drive.
The start up time is about the same as with CS-3. Faster than CS.
Top menu bar text is rough and appears broken until I put the curser over the text. Then it clears up.
Click & drag zoom works like a charm.
"Toss" has a quarter to half second delay before the image moves.
Lag behind brush is quite noticeable even when zoomed in.
Brush border is rough & jagged. An indicator that the brush smoothness slider is set to full smooth?
I saw no delay with typing. (I have to look at the keys and when I looked up after the last letter it was there and sharp.)
A new learning curve for the palates IS going to need to be climbed. Or is there a "Look like CS, CS2, CS3" toggle somewhere? (NOTE the "First Impressions" above!)
Now for the interesting part. This test showed the same results as a test, same file but reduced to 3074 pixels width and in 8-bit color. I was doing a "see if file size makes a difference" test.
There was no difference in behavior with the system running "free" or with ZoneAlarm Pro and BitDefender running in the background. I have BitDefender set to NOT load on computer boot.
With the stock Open GL settings and a below grade video card, the brief test gave better than expected results with the main down grade being brush lag.
Just my observations with a video card that may be pushed beyond what can be reasonably expected of it and settings not tuned as per recommendations here.
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned before is the new ability to re-tune the settings in adjustment layers. There have been many times I would have wanted that ability in the past.

let me make sure I get this; the phone, it is a phone after all, does not have good signal, and it will not pair properly with bluetooth, but you are saying 'everything else is fine'!!!!!!! Why don't you return it, and go get yourself an itouch? You will have all the apps, etc. Then get a mifi from sprint/verizon and you are all set. Then, go get yourself a proper phone with a decent carrier and you will be all set.

  • How much is 3GS for a completely new customer ?

Until now, the only apple product i've ever used is my ipod. i just want to know, how much is it for a new customer like me if i'm planning to buy three 3gs? i want to know the price for both the 16gb and the 32 gb. and are the price will be accompanied with a contract to at&t? if yes, for how long and how much should i pay beside for the handset?

right, at first i'm not sure about the 199$ and 299$ price, because i thought those prices are only for existing iphone users...
Yeah, i want to buy iphone for use in Indonesia, but the first thing i want to know is how much it will cost in the Us, so I canpredict how expensive it is when it is launched in my country. is it possible that the price in Indonesia and New Zealand is the same, if not cheaper, with the prices in the US when they are finaly launched in those countries? Because i'm planning to go to NZ for my vacation, and who knows if they launched this thing when i'm there....

This probably a very basic question...sorry in advance. I just inherited an HP psc 750 and it won't scan. On the HP site, it gives a new file to download and copy into the HD/System/Library/CFMSupport folder...the file is called TWAIN Source Manager.
