Firefotly and starts slowly. When I switch to Safari all the windows open right away. This is a brand new Macbook so it's not the computer. What's going on? This has gone on for days and I'm ready to opt out.
Firefox opens to a blank page. Then it is very slow to open any connections and sometimes just goes dead.

Take it back, it's defective , you have a 1 year warranty and you have 3 months of free support, up to 3 years if you bough AppleCare.

In my case, I was trying to copy images from my SD-HC 2 memory card (San Disk, 8GB) to my computer (Mac). I was using a chinese memory card reader (Kino, "Mini Multi in One memory card reader", model SY-682, USB 2.0). The memory card reader/hub used to work just fine before, but till recently it didn't...
I had a suspicion on my OS updating, since I used to copy images from this SD Card to my computer on a monthly basis (I used to have Mac OSX 10.6.8, and a technician recently changed my Mac's operating system to 10.7.5 or so, as far as I can detail... It wasn't a god job what he did, but anyway)...
My husband saw me crying in front of the computer after reading and chasing to a lot of Google searches, and what he did was simply this:
I used to put the memory card in the reader, and then plug the reader into the Mac's USB port... And it didn't work... Right?
He, instead, did it backwards: he plugged the memory card reader to the Mac's USB port and THEN slide the memory card into the slot of the memory card reader...
By doing this, you do not get to see the image of the memory card in your Mac's desktop, BUT: if you open a new Finder window, you will see the image of the memory card into the left margin of the window, right behind the "Devices" title... In my case, the memory card image just read "EOS_DIGITAL", as I use to take pictures with a Canon EOS camera...
Anyway, I hope this helps, and please replicate this answer to those in the same suffering I used to be till 15 minutes before.

Could be the charger, cable or the iPad.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). Because of a nasty virus on my computer I had to change my apple ID and password. When I went to update my apps. on my I phone 4s the box said I need to sign in to I tunes. The ID it had in the box was my old apple ID and I can't remember the password. I can't find any where in my phone settings that will let me change my I tunes ID although I have a new apple ID and password that I used to get on this site but I can't change it on my phone. Please help.

Thank you for the help. Every app on my phone was downloaded using my old I-tunes ID. I just hope that they will re-download under my new ID because I still can't change it on my phone. In order to change to the new ID it says I have to sign out from the old ID and change to the new one. My problem is that I don't remember my password to be able to sign out from my old ID. Then the phone says it can change my password through e-mail and I agree but I never get an e-mail at my old address or the new one.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Iphoto has been uploading for days and won't let me close program
A few days ago I attempted to upload my photos on my iPhone 5s to free up storage on my phone. I connected phone and it appeared they were being imported. Not because I could see them but every time i clicked on import it said it was already importing. i finally used Icapture i think it was called and i can see pictures but they are not in my library like the ones imported from my Nikon camera are. I am not able to shutdown iPhoto because it still says photos are being imported.
force quit - apple menu ==> force quit and then restart your Mac
Then if you did not have Image Capture import directly into iPhoto use the iPhoto file menu ==> import command to import from where every you had Image Capture put the photos

Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).

Spinning wheel of death when i launch steam from my brand new Macbook Pro 13"
i just got my new early 2011 Macbook Pro 13" and installed steam. works fine but every so often it freezes up and i get the "spinning wheel of death". I am a new Mac user so im not really sure what to think of this. I come from PC's so obviously ive dealt with my fair share of problems with operating systems. is this something to be overly alarmed with? Any input would be great. Or just please ease my mind. I love my new Mac and would be devestated if im doing something wrong or if there is a serious problem. PLEASE HELP!
I would suggest to check the console logs.
You find an utility application called "Console" in the "Utilities" Sub Folfer of your "Applications" folder.
Search the log for any line in relation with steam (should be clearly identified by the application bundle name such as com.steampowered. ...) and tell us what you see here -

When trying to update getting (error surle error domain error-1100). It started yesterday, any help would be great. I have Mountain Lion 10.8.1 on a new macbook pro with retina display.
There are many people suffering from this problem right now (including me). It appears to be a server issue. Just wait and try checking for updates again tomorrow.
Some things I have heard indicate that this may be a regional problem, though what parts of the world are affected I don't know yet. A few people have been helped by deleting the following preference file (paste the path into the Go -> Go to Folder window in the Finder to locate it), though most have not:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
Note that if you are trying to download iTunes 10.7, that can be found here:

Also, note that there is no reason to be anxious to get it, as the only thing added in iTunes 10.7 is compatibility with iOS 6, which will not be available until the 19th, and the new iPhone, which will not be available until later as well. Hey guys! Here's what I did that saved my project.
-SHORT VERSION-
Use the Finder window on your Mac to copy and paste your old project (the one not showing up in imovie) to a new folder so that iMovie will see it.
-LONG VERSION-
CONDITIONS:
The project has to exist on your hard drive. To see if it's hiding around somewhere go to:
Home (your name)>Movies>iMovie Library (right click and select Show Package Contents)
In the iMovie Library folder (the default is usually the date) open it to see if your Project is inside. If it is, you are in luck!
RESTORING PROJECT:
Open iMovie
start a new folder under the iMovie Library (again, the default is usually todays date)
Close iMovie
In the finder window (as explained above in the CONDITIONS section) select the files and folders of your project and copy them (in my case these consist of folders called Analysis Files, Original Media, "MYPROJECT", Render Files, Shared Items)
There should now be a folder with today's date in that Show Package Contents folder.
Paste a copy of your project;s files into this folder.
When it is done copying, open up the "Original Media" folder and all of your images and clips should be present.
reopen iMovie. Your project should show up in the Libraries list.
*If your full project isn't showing in the iMovie timeline (mine just had empty bubbles where all my clips and audio should be) try dragging and dropping the clips and images from the project's "Original Media" folder into the import section of your project. Once the files were reimported, iMovie recognized them all and put them back in the correct place for me.
