Firefox freezes when iTunes is opened.

Anytime I have iTunes (version 10) open and I open firefox, firefox loads up, but it freezes and I can't click on anything inside of it. This also happened with the previous version of iTunes.

Guys try this; it worked for me.
I recently bought MacBook Pro 15" & updated everything. All worked well till I started iTunes. The computer froze & I had to press the power button. This happenned again & again.
This is what I did & you too can try it. It's risk-free:
Go > Home > Music
Rename the folder "iTunes" to anything, e.g. "iTunes-old"
Start iTunes, it will work normally and will create a new folder "iTunes"
"iTunes-old" is still there. If you need something from it, take it, otherwise you may delete the folder.
Have fun.
Merry Christmas!

  • Firefox freezes when trying to open new Youtube Videos, what can I do?

I run Firefox 19.0.2 and the latest Flash plugin. All of a sudden Firefox freezes when I try to open Youtube videos. I can only kill it with ctrl+alt+del.
Note that I CAN watch Youtube videos that are saved as favorites and I also CAN watch videos I click as related videos. However whenever I use the search bar and click a new video I haven't watched before, Firefox will freeze over and over again.
I already tried disabling the hardware acceleration, as well as deleting the cache and varying cache size.
I also tried re-setting the dom.ipc config settings as stated here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/de/questions/909133
So far, nothing would do the trick.
Your help is much appreciated, thanks a lot! :)

  • Macbook pro sporadically freezes when iTunes is open

When I open iTunes, even if I'm not playing or using it in any other way, my Macbook programs will freeze for 10 or so seconds every couple of minutes. It doesn't happen at regular intervals. I can move the mouse, but when it's hovering over programs, I get the beach ball. I just updated to iTunes 11, and it still seems to be happening. I don't know if I downloaded or added something to iTunes that caused its problem or what.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

    Hello,
eventually iTunes collides with another application, a installed add on or a corrupted iTunes database.
    First Aid
    Open Console
On left, unfold "files" -->> ~library/logs/"
    Click on "Crash Reporter"
Last crashes will show up on left. Click on the first in list depending to iTunes
Copy the text as far as the line "Crashed Thread: <number>" including that line.
Copy the section of the crashed (#x) tread itself.
    Post here.
The report will show, which application or add on causes the crash.

  • Macbook pro freezes when itunes is opened

    Hello,
I am having a problem when I open itunes. Whenever I open itunes my trackpad freezes. If I try to move the cursor it won't move, but after a minute or two it will; however, I cannot complete any other functions return key, force close, etc. The only way I have been able to overcome the freeze is by control+command+power button. I downloaded a firmware update this morning...and have tried opening it three times now.
Any hints to the problem would be great, but I am not very computer literate so any advice would require some detailed hand holding to get me through the fix. Otherwise, I won't open itunes till I find someone that can figure it out.
    Thanks,
    dk

  • Firefox freezes when opening an adobe acrobat (PDF) file from any website

Firefox freezes when opening an adobe acrobat (PDF) file from any website. This only started happening after the latest update of Firefox was installed. Do you have a fix?

    Hi Susan,
The Adobe plugin in Internet Explorer is a bit different from the one in Firefox, however they're all made by Adobe and they usually come with Adobe Reader.
When you open a PDF file in Firefox, it "calls" Adobe Reader to help it read the file. In this case, the Adobe Reader takes over, and it is responsible for freezing your browser.
I suggest you try the last 4 solutions presented on the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] (start with "Re-install the plugin" through "Re-install Adobe Reader").
    Good Luck :D

  • Firefox freezes when saving, printing, or otherwise opening "sub-windows"

Firefox freezes when I open a window to save, print, etc. - not always, but far too often. If I dare try to choose another folder in which to save, I'm even more likely to make it freeze.
When it happens for the first time after opening Firefox, I can often wait several minutes, then it unfreezes, and I can then do one or two more clicks (e.g., scroll, save, etc.) before it freezes again. Otherwise (or the next time, if I didn't restart Firefox in the meantime), the program just gets completely unresponsive, and I have to close it via the Task Manager. So there's unfortunately no error message, crash ID, etc.
Possibly related: When I'm using Firefox for a while (with many Firefox windows open), I'm often not getting menus displayed anymore, just the outline of the menus. The program still reacts to clicks into the outline, but it's like driving blindfolded... Menus include those from the menu bar, those from right-clicking into a website, or those from Adblock Plus (icon in the bar, at the right bottom of each window).
I'm currently still using 3.6.13 (with Adblock Plus) on a Windows 7 (x64) machine. The problem has persisted long before I've updated to this or previous Firefox versions... possibly since I've been using it on this computer (= summer 2010), but I'm not sure. I should add that I *am* using Firefox with lots (!) of Firefox windows open simultaneously, and I often let my computer hibernate rather than shut it down every single time I walk away... but I've been doing that for at least 5 years now (using tons of Firefox windows even much longer, still with Windows 95 or 98), and the problem is new. And limited to Firefox. (Indeed I can even open pages, on which Firefox has just crashed, in Internet Explorer or Opera, and then peacefully save, print, etc. there.)
I'd prefer to keep Firefox as my standard browser, but the problem is getting too annoying! Thanks for your help!!

  • Firefox freezes when trying to upload or download a file. (Antivirus all disabled doesn't help). IE works fine. Happened with v3 and v4. Any clues?

Firefox locks when trying to upload or download any file, size irrelevant.
I've disabled firewall and all antivirus apps to no effect.
This happens with v3 and v4.
    IE works fine.

'''Addendum:''' The freeze is also happening at random even without opening Firefox, it has a chance of happening when I click something. My computer has frozen when I: 1- clicked the "reveal desktop" button to minimize all windows; 2- Attempted to close a tab in Chrome; 3- Clicked "play" in a Youtube video that had been loaded and waiting for some time). It will also almost always freeze when I leave it idle for more than about 10 minutes.
But it will '''guaranteedly''' freeze when trying to open FF, which doesn't happen with any other program.
I think my computer is breaking down. :(

  • Safari & FireFox  freeze when I try to upload a file from my hard drive.

Safari & FireFox freeze when I try to upload a file from my hard drive. This just started happening in the past couple of days. I haven't installed any software, or made any updates (that I can remember.) When the browser freezes I can't "force quit" them. I have to manually shut the computer down are restart it. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
Safari and Firefox box.... it could be a problem with the hard drive itself, not your browsers.
Just to make sure, boot from your install disc, run Disk Utility to Verify and if necessary, Repair any errors Disk Utility reports.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*

  • Firefox freezes when ctrl + enter is pressed simultaneously

Firefox freezes when ctrl + enter is pressed simultaneously.

    Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
    Please report back soon.
