Firefox will not open. I have tried re-installing and deleting my profile and nothing has worked.

I tried to download an extension for Firefox and after that it just stopped working, no response. I have tried re-installing the browser, deleting files & profiles. Nothing has worked. I cannot access the profile manager either *sad face*

I have no navigation bar and firefox will not open in safe mode to reset to default config. Reinstalling doesn't work. Any help please.

I have no navigation bar ever since I closed it to gain more space on the screen. It won't re-open. Firefox will not open in safe mode, but opens immediately in normal mode with the new improper config, so I cannot reset to default config. I erased Firefox and re-installed and it still opens with the same faulty config. Why does Firefox not give me the safe mode dialog box, why can I not re-open the nav bar, and how can I do these two things, please? Firefox is currently unusable for me without a nav bar and without access to the default settings in safe mode. I cannot research the extensions I'm running since I have no nav bar to go to Tools, Add-ons, Extensions.

Firefox will not open in Vista SP2 after installing software for a Brother MFC printer.

I have 7 computer network. All the machines are running Vista SP2. I recently purchased a Brother MFC 9325cw, and installed the printer/scanner drivers as well as a program called scansoft paperport on each of the machines individually.
I left out the some of the bulkier aspects of the driver package, namely the brother control center because it seems to eat up a lot ram at start up.
Since I have installed the printer driver on my computers, several of them will not open firefox.
I have tried re-installing firefox on one machine so far to no avail.
Next I will try to re-install the brother software. Has anyone else encountered this problem before?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Sorry to hijack your thread but my issue is very similar and driving me nuts!
For some reason my wireless network at home started playing up. I thought I'd do some quick fixes....not so quick.
Original set-up was AM300 DSL modem (192.168.1.1) with desktop pc cabled into port 1 of WRT610N (10.10.10.1). I used to be able to access both ip numbers to get into menus.
After trying to troubleshoot an issue with my mrs wifi connection, I am now unable to access 10.10.10.1 via port 1 on WRT610N direct to my PC's LAN port (I have 2 LAN ports on PC and no luck with either). If I plug into my laptop and not the desktop, no issue accessing 10.10.10.1 (router).
I have pinged 192.168.1.1 as suggested above and get 0% loss on laptop but when plugged into desktop I get 'geenral failure' and 100% loss.
I'm no expert at PC's but was able to build the desktop I had and had it running for a year without issue. So why are my LAN ports on my desktop giving me grief? And it always appears to be showing as a 'public netwrok' on my desktop when in 'network and sharing center'. I change it to private (as it sound like the right thing) but ends up as an 'unidentified network' (or similar).
I assume more detail is better than too little? Thx for reading.

Firefox will not open at all. After click the hourglass comes up and then goes away and nothing happens at all. Nothing will load past the desktop. I cannot get into firefox at all to enable anything or disable anything.

When i click on the mozilla icon on the desktop the arrow will spin (VISTA) and will then disappear. Mozilla will not enable or even pop up or anything. I have exactly the same issue. After FF upgraded on its own to version 5, it won't open from start menu, taskbar, desktop icon, or even by pressing firefox.exe in program files directory. It does so by pressing a link at msn messenger, inside Outlook etc.
Disabling all addons, didn't help. Moreover, I can't start FF in safe mode or start profile manager (Start > Run> firefox.exe -ProfileManager).

After the last upgrade, my firefox will not open. Task manager says it is running, but I get nothing.

I finally allowed the last update to run... upon completion, my browser window would not open. I rebooted, got the window to open but had no function on the navigation bar. The only way I could navigate the web was to go to my home page, google, search for the web page and click on the results. Refresh also would not work. I did another reboot and now I'm back to no visual evidence of the browser window being open. It seems like every update for the past few months crashes my ability to utilize my add-ons and my ability to see video is almost always compromised. Glad to be of help. But I'm curious (not critical of what you are doing) to know why so many people like to use Nikon Transfer to transfer their files to the computer. It is still necessary to import them into Lightroom. And, from my perspective, it seems simpler and maybe even a little quicker to use the Lightroom import dialog. I have Nikon cameras, and have never even installed the Nikon Transfer utility. What is so unique about it?

You should check for malware or go back into regular mode and see if temorarily disabling your antivirus helps.

otherwise try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps(If works in Windows Safe mode then you have a problem with other software, like security software[antivirus, firewall] or a system driver, that is running on your computer).

Windows 7 ultimate, this program worked fine for the last 5 months and all of a sudden just quit. I erased and put on earlier versions all have same outcome. Click on icon and just looks like time clock just spins. No program opens but says program is open.

also in some cases this behaviour can be caused by malware, so please do a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and possibly with a different tool too.
