OK, I think I have this solved. After reading my post over, I decided to rethink the problem. First thing I did was download Chrome and I tried using that and IE again and surprise! I was having the same problem on those browsers as well. So now we know it wasn't Firefox. I then figured maybe a slow computer meant a virus, so I ran scans. I've had both Avast and IOBit for months now and I've never had a problem with either of them before. Then I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a third scan. They all picked some stuff up, but nothing serious. Then I tried disabling all the antivirus stuff and that didn't solve anything. But then I decided to keep Malwarebytes and I uninstalled IOBit Security and whammo - problem solved.
I have no idea why out of the blue IOBit would be causing a problem like this so if someone knows, please let me in on the secret. Additionally, IE was working fairly well last night but not this morning. I also don't know why removing IOBit would take care of the nsAppShell issue, because supposedly, that's related to Firefox plug ins. And one more thing...when Comcast hooked my neighbor up to cable, they did it by putting a splitter on my line. They were messing about with the lines yesterday before I got on my computer last night trying to decide how to rerun them and today they did that, taking the splitter off my line and giving my neighbor his own line. That was finished about 30 minutes before I uninstalled IOBit. So....who knows?
But I ain't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I have my Firefox back and I am so sorry for bad mouthing you last night - I love you, Firefox!

The problem is that the POP3 client is not issuing a DELE command to remove the email from the server.

Yahoo mail account drops out randomly. I have 2 yahoo mail accounts on my Mac. The primary account works fine but the second account loses connection.

The only way round it appears to be to go into Yahoo on Safari, log out then log bck in again. If I then go back into Mail and right click on the account I cn then get mail for this account without having to enter a password. The problem only started when I installed Lion, but is still the same in Mountain Lion.

IE uses a different version of Adobe Flash which includes an ActiveX control. ActiveX however is not supported on Firefox.

Firefox will not load pretty much all pages. Also I cannot get any add-ons. I made sure my firewall lets Firefox in. I just loaded it back on this computer, everything was fine before, now its crap.

So I was running Firefox before. and my girlfriend told me to try google chrome out. FireFox will not start, I even uninstalled it and reinstalled and cannot get it to open. When I click on the icon it seems like something is about to happen and then nothing does. No processes activate it Windows Task Manager either.

Firefox will not start up when I click on its icon. As far as I can see, all of the programme files are present.

Firefox was working perfectly earlier today. This evening, when I tried to start Firefox as I usually do by clicking on its icon in the Windows 7 quick start bar there was no resonse. The same thing happens when I click on the application icon in the Windows Firefox programme folder. Is ther any way that this can be fixed easily?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

My desk top OS is Win xp and when I change to firefox will everything still be on my computer like desktop icons, favorites, etc.

After uninstalling nightly, I can no longer set firefox as default browser for email links and they no longer open.

You can install both win32 and win64 Firefox Nightly builds on a 64-bit Windows computer. As you should know, all Firefox nightly builds are intended for testing only. If you downloaded your Firefox nightly build from http://nightly.mozilla.org/ then you got the win32 installer. (win64 installers are available from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/ and possibly elsewhere: [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=12694481#p12694481 ref.])
Anyway, the bug report I referred to earlier ([https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=870312 Bug 870312] - Installing Nightly causes "Class not registered" error on click on link in other apps after uninstall) fits your issue ("broken" uninstaller). It was triaged as a "Shell Integration" Firefox bug for x86_64 Windows 8.
Whether you had the 32-bit or 64-bit Firefox nightly installed, you can try reinstalling a more recent build of that, and then uninstall it again. That worked for a Windows user who had problems uninstalling Firefox Nightly x64 as reported in this thread:

Firefox will not let me get on any websites (safe AND not safe), claiming that it "may pose a security threat to your system"; when I try to choose the "proceed unprotected" option, it won't let me.

My computer's anti-virus software recently expired. A few days later, I went to download a new anti-virus software . . . when I opened up Firefox, I received a warning that claimed Firefox was infected with "Trojan-BNK.Win32.Keylogger.gen", and gave me two options: "Activate XP Security 2011 (recommended)" (this was a $60 charge and required credit card info) or "Continue unprotected (Dangerous)"

It sounds as though your PC is infected with fake antivirus software. The detailed cleanup instructions vary depending on which fake AV you have. However, as a first step, try this:
Download the following on a different PC, copy them to a USB flash drive or CD, and then run them on the infected PC:

SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/
Hopefully these will get you back online safely. If not, search for clean-up instructions for the specific malware.

My firefox will not load, ive tried clicking the task bar icon and the icon in program files x86 but it will not load. When I tried to uninstalland reinstall it told me that I had to close firefox first so apparently it is running. In proccesses there is a process called firefox.exe *32 and I cannot end this process. After last Windows update, Firefox will not work

I am running Vista Business OS. and FF beta 4.x
After the latest updates (installed automatically) on Wed, April 27, Firefox will not load. When I click on the icon, I get the "busy" and then.......nothing. It does show as a running process, but nothing comes up on the screen. I have re-downloaded and re-installed it, but nothing. IE does come up, but Chrome does not.
It seems like MS blocked FF with the latest updates.
If I revert to the restore point before the updates were installed, FF works fine.

I uninstalled KB 2446708 (Security Update for .NET Framework 4) ... took forever to uninstall, like 20 minutes.... And now Firefox starts up normally!
By the way, my Firefox is version 3.6.17, running on Windows Vista 64bit. I try to avoid all the new updates like IE9. Perhaps I should try avoiding .NET Framework 4 as well.

Firefox crashed while I was browsing. I re-started the LT and now Firefox will not start. I have tried re-starting from the desktop, the tool bar and the start menu.I can use other browsers which are not my default browser eg Googlechrome. This is not the first time Firefox has crashed but is the first time it would not re-start. I have looked through the Firefox support page but potential solutions require Firefox to be open to access the Firefox toolbar.
