Firewall: The invalid rule and all subsequent rules were skipped.

Hi All,
As a web developer, I have had some experience administering Linux, Solaris, Windows, but I am new to OSX.
I have a problem with the firewall I need help with.
Here are the symptoms:
1) Address Groups: Besides any, I have an address group called Admin, it contains my home and work ip address. Other address group is for LAN. When inspecting the properties of a group, the interface tells me 'valid IP address' or 'address range from .. to ..'. This seems OK
2) When editing an Advanced Rule, I can select one of the Address Groups just created for a source/destination. I save the configuration, resulting in a error 'Error while writing settings (cannot apply one or more rules - detail in log)'.
Opening the editor for the rule again, the field with the source/destination now has a small note under it: 'Invalid IP address, range or group). This is my first problem.
3) I have now deleted all Advanced Rules and deselected the ones I cannot delete. Still the error message 'Error while writing settings...'. The log offers no help at all:

I cannot find out what is wrong from this output.
3) At this point I may as well turn the firewall off, for instance I have given access to http/ssh/ftp to group 'any', but they can in fact reach any port at all.

Well, the obvious question is what does line 18 say?
The log clearly states that the rule on that line is the one it's having problems with:

Check /etc/ipfilter/ipfw.conf for the configuration file in question.

Try ReSynching to iTunes. If you set up sync to the cloud, turn that off, resync to your PC. That should bring them back. You can then turn on sync to cloud again.
You may, however, want to re-think that. There is a lot of chatter about the cloud being the source of some if not many of the battery issues. Personally, I decided to rurn the cloud off until the Battery-gate issue is resolved.

TS3274 I use to be able to shut down apps as to not kill my battery by pushing the button twice and all apps running appeared at the bottom of the screen. Then i could turn each one off at a time. Now how do I do that with the IO7?

Before IO7, I would control the life of my battery by shutting down the apps. I would push the main button on the front twice and all apps that were running in the back ground would appear on the bottom of the screen. I could click on each one to shut it down. Now, I can't seem to figure out how to shut them down. Please help if anyone knows what to do.

I made one phone call this morning and after hanging up i went to the contacts library and all my contacts were gone. I have unfortunately not got a backup (this isn't my phone its for a friend) and so I have no backup of my contacts. I have already tried importing contacts from the sim but only a very small few contacts are on the sim so im still missing over 90% of my contacts. How can i fix this? I'm on plan mode In Adobe muse, I have my paster page at the bottom and all subsequent pages at the top. I've changed my page dimensions in the master page by altering the height, however, these changes have not been made in the subsequent pages up top. How come?

Several possible reasons:
1) Is the master page applied to the pages?
2) Did you increase or decrease the height of the master? The size of actual pages is the maximum of the size of the applied master page and the size that's required to contain the content that's been laid out on the page.
3) Has the minimum height of the non-master pages ever been set? If so, it overrides the master page value. To get the normal page to again honor the minimum height set in the master page go to the individual page in the Plan view and use the context menu to select "Reset Page Properties". This will revert all the page properties to match those of the applied master.

You need to use the computer's install disks to repair the hard drive or install a new OS.

Cloud backup restored photos and documnets to the wrong folder and all in one folder

I used the cloud backup to backup and restore my photos and documents because I was told to fix my problem I would have to do a hard reset. When I restored the photos and documents they were all restored to the wrong place and all in one folder. Please help. Is there any way to fix this or is their cloud backup program just stupid and I am screwed?

Let's get to the bottom of this and get your pictures and documents backed up correctly. What phone do you have? Did you restore every all at once? Try removing the files and doing the restore again. Did you do the restore from the phone or desktop app?

Hold the home and power button down until your phone restarts. If that doesn't work, backup and restore using iTunes.

The songs all played on my old computer without prompting me for a password.
Any ideas how I can get around this hassle and get them all to play? We're talking about 800 songs that are being obstinate. The new computer is authorized under my "new" Apple id, which I have used for years.

How come although iPads are getting more powerful, the iOS apps from apple are so mediocre and just not that great? We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

The system for update from version 9.0.0 does not work at all. "There are no updates" listed in the dialog.

Your problem is not Boot Camp, in fact, is your optical drive. Win XP requires indeed sp2, but also the internal drive, does not work from external optical drive.
For other possible tricks, please use the appropriate Boot Camp forum, not here. Mac OS X may be installed from both external and internal optical drive and/or internal/external partition of a disk, any disk. Windows is not so generous.

Hello, I think Firefox was automatically updated the night before last. I think this because I now am sent to the Firefox home page rather than where I was previously going. The issues that have come up are several. 1. Everything other than programs that were on my desktop have been removed. This isn't a big problem but has happened. 2. When I reboot my computer I get messages saying that the profile that has been used is either corrupted or there isn't enough security to open it or something like that. as a result it opens a generic profile and puts everything to default, when I close and reboot it has to do the same thing over again. 3. When I got this issue I tried to go to system restore and it had been turned off. I turned it back on and there were no past dates left to go back to. 4. all my photo files have been removed from the picture area, and all documents as well. I am able to search and locate them but now need to resave over 8000 items to the right places.
Can anyone help me with these issues? Is there some place or service that can remotely access my computer and fix whatever this is?

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo
