First step to troubleshoot simple errors

Question

what's the best way to approch errors in Flex problem area?
As an exemple
Copy and paste my code in the mxml file,,, it's a basic form:

So i thought i could just add new fields by copying and pasting FormItems but at the end ...

So i created a error (i am sure it simple to fix)
1137:Icorrect number arguments. Expected no more than 2.
it doesn't have to be for this problem specifically...
what are the best approch to find the solutions?

Although i will start using your method(i assume that going from top to buttom is the way to apply your method)
your answer though apply more to errors that are not icluded in the error message as(in my example) i know what the error is or where it is in my code, i just don't know where to find the specific solution...
In my exemple, somewhere because i added field to the form my click event is still set to the original amount of 2 fields and now that i  added new field my click event can't figure it out..... so i need to find where or what tells the click event to assume there is only 2 field.
Found the error in the help but they just tell you the error # and name...that's the step i would like to figure out...
