FIRST_TIME and NEXT_TIME columns in v$archived_log view

Oracle Version      : 11.2
OS Platform      : Solaris 10
Could anyone please explain what FIRST_TIME and NEXT_TIME columns in v$archived_log are?
Oracle Documentation (below) and googling didn't help.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18283_01/server.112/e17110/dynviews_1016.htm
Did quite understand what
FIRST_TIME      DATE      Timestamp of the first change
NEXT_TIME      DATE      Timestamp of the next changeis.
Did a search on OTN as well. A similair OTN post unfortunately ended up in Abuse and Insults !
description of NEXT_TIME colume in V$ARCHIVED_LOG View

For each archive log file, there would be First_time & Next_time.
first_time refers to the timestamp when when first SCN is recorded, Also next_time refers to the timestamp of the next archivelog change.
Here next_change/next_time of archive value is equal to the next logs first_change/first_time.
SEQUENCE#         FIRST_CHANGE# TO_CHAR(FIRST_TIME,'DD-MON-YYYYHH24:MI:SS')                                          NEXT_CHANGE# TO_CHAR(NEXT_TIME,'DD-MON-YYYYHH24:MI:SS')

    i juut want to know the exact meannig in simple word and uasag of next_time col of V$ARCHIVED_LOG ViewI don't want to be flippant or rude, but if people want to be professionals in ANY field, the first knowledge they need to acquire is how to locate AND USE+ the fundamental reference materials for that profession. And the most important trait, the one for which they are really hired, is the ability to do independent research. We don't mind helping newbies, and even the most experienced person on this board will run into something they are not familiar with, or occasionally just require a second set of eyes to look at something. But a professional+ needs, above all, a willingness and capability to check the docs. A professional isn't necessarily someone who has all the answers at their fingertips or has a full understanding about every arcane subject in their field. It certainly isn't someone who has an encyclopedia full of memorized answers but little understanding of how it all fits together. It's someone who knows where to find the answers when needed, how to recognize them when he sees them. It's less about knowing than it is about attitude. Everything you've been asking the last couple of days can be answered in the Oracle docs at tahiti.oracle.com. You should bookmark that site.
    =================================================
    Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
    Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
    Drill down to your product and version.
    <b><i><u>BOOKMARK THIS LOCATION</u></i></b>
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
    Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
    Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
    Do the same with the Utilities manual.
    You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
    Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

  • What are CREATOR and REGISTRAR in the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view?

    Environment: Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris 10.5
    I'm not sure exactly where this question belongs since it deals with database processes, RMAN and Data Guard all in one so I'll start here and see where it takes me.
    I have a Data Guard environment set up with 1 primary and 1 standby. I am running some queries against the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view to understand the view so I can better monitor the archive log activity between the databases.
    I have read the documentation but am still confused over a couple of things:
    1- What is the FGRD process and how can it write archive logs as seen in the CREATOR column of the view looking from the primary side? I thought only the ARCn process could do that.
    2- On the standby side all the logs have LGWR as the CREATOR which makes sense since, as I understand it, the LGWR process on the primary is sending the log files to the standby via SQL*Net. I realize this is not a question. :-)
    3- The documentation for the view shows RMAN as a possible value for the CREATOR column. How and where does RMAN create an archive log file?
    4- Finally, for now, what is the meaning of the REGISTRAR column? What exactly is it registering since we already know the source (CREATOR), status and whether the log has been archived, applied and deleted.
    Thanks very much for any light you can shed in my darkness.

Thats why acting as forground process.

    This might be because archivelog file can be generated from other resource i.e either from RFS or by registering with RMAN command REGISTER.

  • Need to know base table and base column name for Oracle view columns

    I am trying to load metadata for some views and that requires me to know what the final table and column name would be corresponding to the view column.
    For example, if I have a view x_v that is select a,b from x_v2; and x_v2 is a view that is select a,b,c from x;
    I need to get the following information.
    View View Col Base Table Base Col
    X_V A X A
    X_V B X B
    and so on.
    Is it possible to get this programmatically using any SYS schema tables or Dependency tables?
    I tried an indirect approach wherein I lock tables using LOCK TABLE or FOR UPDATE OF. But I'm not too sure if I can go down to the level of individual view columns.
    Can you help me with this?

    Thanks. I was looking at some indirect approaches.
    I came up with this script that does it faster than dependencies but thats just for tables and not column mapping.
    declare
    cursor bt(cp_sid number) is
    select u.name uname, o.name oname
    from sys.obj$ o, sys.user$ u
    where o.obj# in (select id1
    from v$lock
    where sid=cp_sid)
    and u.user# =o.owner#;
    cursor c_sid is
    select sid
    from v$session
    where audsid =userenv('sessionid');
    l_sid number;
    l_view varchar2(100):= 'PER_PEOPLE_V';
    l_schema varchar2(10):= 'APPS';
    begin
    open c_sid;
    fetch c_sid into l_sid;
    close c_sid;
    dbms_output.put_line('SID: '||l_sid);
    execute immediate 'lock table '||l_schema||'.'||l_view||' in row share mode nowait';
    for i in bt(l_sid) loop
    dbms_output.put_line(i.uname||'.'||i.oname);
    execute immediate 'alter table '||i.uname||'.'||i.oname||' disable table lock';
    execute immediate 'alter table '||i.uname||'.'||i.oname||' enable table lock';
    end loop;
    end;
    It basically uses locks on views to verify locks on the base tables.
    Just wondering, can we use FOR UPDATE OF statements to get to the columns?

  • Add columns in DataGridView And display it in the report Viewer at RunTime

    Hello Everyone , this is my first participation here, I am civil Engineer and I have a Question
    I created dataGridViewer connected to a database , when I change the records and reopen the application the changed are saved However , I let the user to add/delete columns during the runtime (by using sql command) ,even though those columns are saved and
    appear at datagridviewer
    The reported Viewer (which i designed using wizard) is not showing these columns
    what should i do , I have been trying to solve this for a week ! could it be a year ? !
    I am using c# visual studio 2012

    Hi Azzam,
    According to your description, you want to display changed columns in ReportViewer control. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when we retrieve the data, the query or stored procedure will only execute one time. So during runtime, the data in a report will not change. So we can't display the changed columns in report during runtime. However, we can set the
    Auto-refresh properties for report so that the report can refresh every X seconds. This is the most effective workaround. Please refer to links below:
    SSRS report auto refresh
    Automatically refreshing your SQL Reporting Services reports with the AutoRefresh element
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Profit center and segment columns in the General ledger view of FB03L

    Hi Experts,
    one customer is asking how to get the Profit center and segment columns in the General ledger view of FB03L.
    Could you please assist?
    Thanks, Mateus

    Enter company code, doc. no., etc. in the selection screen of FB03L and hit Enter.  In the next screen that displays the document, choose change layout option (it is third icon from the right in the icons that are right above the document line items) and move profit center and segment fields from Column Set (the fields on the right) to the Displayed Columns (left) and hit Enter.  You will see the fields with values, if any.  Using the same icon again, choose save layout and save that layout.

  • Filter a list-views on page by Date and Time column, not only by Date (Connected Webpart)

    I have a task - create a page and display on it all lists/libraies with documents of team meetings. Every meeting has a documents and another information, which is storing in the same lists/libraries  on website as another meetings. Additionally there
    is a field "MeetingDate" (type: DateTime), which help to indetify a meeting documents.
    I have added all on one page and my custom connected webpart (IWebpartRow interface), which help to filter all views on page by field meeting date. It send a date to another webparts on page, and user see information only for this date.
    It works fine, but the problem is, that it used only DATE (without time) and i need now to filter all by date and time.
    Unfortunately, i noticed that i cannot filter items by date with time in the standard list too. Please see my screenshot.
    My question is: may be i should use another interface (not IWebPartRow) that to send 2 values (1 - date, 2 - time) and filter all by 2 columns. Is it possible?
    Unfortunatelly i didn't find something like this. I found only a solution to build url like 'http://sp2013/SitePages/Homepage.aspx#InplviewHasha2528afc-50c3-4d5e-aae9-682400976409=FilterField1%3DDatum-FilterValue1%3D2015%252D02%252D27-FilterField2%3DCustomTime-FilterValue2%3D11%253A00'
    , but it looks not so good ..(
    from MSDN forum...

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, you might want to display all the specific documents in a page, they can be filtered by values of a Date and time column.
    A possible solution I will provide is that, we can create custom visual web part to display all these documents. In the code behind, run a query with CAML to retrieved all the
    documents with the specific date and time, then generate a view of hyperlinks that points to these documents.
    In this way, we can combine the filter component with the data display component into one web part, with the help of CAML query and Object Model, it would not be a tough job to
    implement such a solution.
    More information about CAML and Object Model:

  • Dynamically Hiding Column in a Table View in VC Model

    How to dynamacally hide the columns in a table view in a VC model. Through the expression in Control Property, Form element/field or table view as a whole can be made hidden, however, the individual column can not seem to be hidden.
    I am using VC server version 700.8.0.1.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards

    In this scenario, if the source is SAP BI, you can use the webapi commands. If not, you would have to have 2 separate tables in different layers and you can show and hide those layers or UI elements...

  • Interactive Report's Column Definition - Single Row View Label Bug?

    Hello,
    I have an Interactive report that I've added a Blue background to certain column headings (done by giving Column Heading a background color), this works fine except for the Single Row view - it displays the &lt;....&gt; code I used to get the background color and the column heading. I've tried to change the Single Row View Label by unchecking the 'Use Same Text for Single Row View' on the Column Definition and giving a different label, it just ignores whatever I put in and shows the Column Heading with the &lt; .... &gt; code. Is this a Bug or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Anna

    Hi Anna,
    I believe that it is a bug.
    If the 'Use Same Text for Single Row View' checkbox is unticked and some text is entered in the 'Single Row View Label' field it gets ignored completely when viewed in the single row view and the existing value in 'Column Heading' is used.
    I wanted to do something similar to you, colouring some of the Interactive Report column headers, and it works fine in the IR report itself but shows the code (span style:color etc) in the single row query. I am using Apex 3.1.1 and the Sand Theme.
    I created a simple application on apex.oracle.com using the red theme and in single row view it still ignores the 'Single Row View Label' but interestingly shows the Column Heading text without the code. This indicates that there could be a work-around by altering the theme.

    Chris

  • How to calculate the total of a calculated column in a list view at the end of the view?

    I have a view with the following columns ProductName, Quantity, Price, Total The total column is a calculated column which is the product of quantity and price. I want to place the sum of the total column by the end of the list view. I can do this with

    You can use SharePoint Designer and calculate the total in xslt view. Refer to the following post for more information

  • PE 9 and 10 Help PDF Invalid List View Descriptions

    Bottom line: Has anyone reported on these problems, and, if so, what is being done about them?
    Until proven otherwise, I believe that Premiere Elements 9 and 10 Help PDF requires editing of its List View Descriptions which are appropriate for at least version 8.0/8.0.1, 7, and 4, but not versions 9.0/9.0.1 and 10.  Please refer to the Help PDF Projects/View Clip Properties
    for version 10:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiere...B-312BB3F13B11
    for version 9:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Premiere...355c-7f98.html
    Problems in this regard for Premiere Elements later than version 8.0/8.0.1 and not for versions 8.0/8.0.1, 7, and 4:
    1. List View Properties display in text for export video file, no Data Rate Analysis graphs
    2. List View Columns, no ADD to add your own columns, so only Adobe built in ones, and none of the Adobe built in ones, like Client, allow for editable text.
    Comments:
    Data Rate Analysis
    I had read somewhere that these graphs appear for tape based rather than non tape based imports. Mini test: Premiere Elements MPEG4.avi import and DV AVI export of the MPEG4.avi. Results: Version 8.0/8.0.1 Properties for import in text format (file properties) only and Properties for export in text format (file + export properties) as well as display of Data Rate Analysis graph. Versions 9 and 10 Properties for import (file properties) and for export (file + export properties), both import and export text only.
    List View Columns
    1. If I look at the project.prel WordPad documents and the Client Column information there in each, I do not see any difference.
    2. If I create a Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 project, set List View column choices Comments and Client, type in the comments and client information, and save/close/and re-open the project in:
    a. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1, the Comments columns and its information will not appear; the Client column will appear, but its information will not be editable. (The 9.0/9.0.1 version does have Client, but not Comments, as a built in choice under Edit Columns)....the latter might explain why no Comments column except...
    b. Premiere Elements 10, neither the Comments nor Client columns and their information will appear. (The 10 version does have Client, but not Comments, as a built in choice under Edit Columns.)
    One of the Potential Problems:
    It is well accepted that, if you edit a project from an earlier version in a later version, you cannot go back to the earlier version for editing. So, one potential problem that I see in all this is the loss of this type of information on upgrading from 8.0/8.0.1 and earlier....
    a. If you create a Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 or earlier project which includes Comments and Client information in these List View Column choices, you will lose all that information in version 10 and have only non-editable Client information in version 9.
    And, yes we have filed an Adobe Feature Request/Bug Form on this one.
    Any comments about what I may have overlooked in trying to get those Help PDF List View Descriptions to work for me would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    ATR

    I definitely agree that the Help files could use some updating, Tony.

  • Custom column in a list view web part for a multilingual site does not take on custom language labels. Stays in default language.

    Hello all,
    I have what so far appears to be a fairly unique problem.  We are running a multilingual SharePoint 2010 environment with English as the default language and French as the secondary.  We have setup the sites in a variance relationship, but the
    issue I am discussing happens outside of a variant as well.
    We have created a library outside the variant (but within the collection) that the two sites must share.  A list view web part was created via Designer to add to each site to provide a quick view into the list.  If we are in the libary and switch
    to French, then update the column label it will remember the setting (because of the resource file) and maintain it as the language is flipped back and forth.  Where it doesn't work is as a web part in a variant or where the language is different.
    If the language is different, the out of the box columns work find, but the custom columns (all site columns not library\list columns) remain as the english label.  It doesn't matter if within a variant or outside with the browser language changed.
    It always reverts back to English.  It's like it isn't using the same resource file that was used in the list itself.
    I created a custom view and modified it with xslt as per
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/50004/how-to-change-column-title-for-a-view-but-not-modify-the-list but this only worked within the list and did not occur in the list view either.
    I can't be the first that has come across it, either I am not performing my searches properly, no one has ever documented a fix for this or this is something we just can't fix with OOTB tools.  That's the other thing, the solution has to be accomplised
    OOTB or with minor client side changes.  I can't fire up Visual Studio because they are piloting Office 365 and have put a "No custom code" mandate on for migration.
    Thank you all in advance.

    Ok, I have come up with a solution.  I edited the XSLT for the web part on the page.  I did the following:
    1.    Create the variants in the Site Ccollection
    2.    Create the library outside of the variants.
    3.    Add all the columns you require for the library.  It is very important all the columns are there before you move on.
    4.    Create a French and English view.
    5.    Create the list view web part via designer.
    6.    Add the list view web part to each site selecting the appropriate view to use.
    7.      Edit the page in SharePoint Designer 2010.
    8.      Place cursor in the column you wish to modify.
    9.      Click Design in the List View Tools on the ribbon.
    10.     Then click Customize XSLT and select Customize Item.  Select this option otherwise you will generate a **LOT** of unnecessary XSL code.
    11.     You are looking for a piece that resembles the following:
            <xsl:with-param name="fieldtitle">
              <xsl:value-of select="@DisplayName"/>
            </xsl:with-param>
    12.      Modify it by typing in the actual column name you want.  You should end up with something like this:
            <xsl:with-param name="fieldtitle">
              New Column Name.
            </xsl:with-param>
    13.      Now, for this page only, the column will be renamed.
    There are some caveats:
    1.    Doesn’t appear to work in a publishing portal.  I think this has to do with how SP stores the pages in this case.  In a publishing portal you can only modify the page layout which won’t work as we need to modify the content.
    2.    If you add another column, you will need to repeat the XSLT modification
    Anyways, I hope this helps out any others with the same issue or need as I had.
