Flash EOLAS solution

Have been looking at the info on the currently available
updaters for
Contribute 3, but could not find any info on whether or not a
solution has
been made available for the Active Content issue that has
recently arisen in
IE due to an EOLAS patent dispute. For Dreamweaver a solution
has been
offered to ensure a seamless experience for visitors.
Question is: is there
an update available for Contribute 3 that takes care of this
issue when
inserting Flash content, or does anyone know of any plans to
provide a
solution to this problem?
For those who are not aware of this issue:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/
Tnx for any input.
John

Changing the browser window is a Javascript thing, not a
Flash thing. If you want to change the browser's window size when
you go to a new url then you can just add a function call at the
onLoad event:
<body onLoad="resizeWindow">
Then you can put a Javascript function in the head of your
HTML doc.
<script type="text/javascript">
function resizeWindow()
window.resizeTo(screen.height,screen.width)
</script>
You can also use actual number values if you like:
window.resizeTo(800,600);
http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_onload.asp
to find out more on the onLoad event.
http://www.w3schools.com/HTMLDOM/met_win_resizeto.asp
to find out more on the resizeTo() function.
http://www.w3schools.com/htmldom/prop_screen_height.asp
to find out more on the screen.height property.

  • HOW TO FIX NO AUDIO PROBLEM IN FLASH (4 SOLUTIONS)

This solution is for WINDOWS ONLY!!! Unfortunately I believe
it is a bug in flash itself as I have read more than one instance
of this same no audio problem occuring on MAC'S and LINUX based
systems as well. IF YOU KNOW OF SOLUTIONS TO THE MAC OR LINUX BASED
PROBLEMS, PLEASE POST THEM IN THIS THREAD.
Description of the problem: Video sites such as YouTube,
VideoSift, Break, Google Videos, Yahoo, and a plethora of others do
not stream embedded audio. Viewing a YouTube video, for example, on
VideoSift.com results in the video playing back with no audio.
However, by going directly to YouTube and playing back the same
    video, it appears to work.
    THERE ARE SEVERAL POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS.
Problem: You may be missing your WAVEMAPPER driver.
Cause: Wavemapper driver was removed during installation or
updating of the Flash Player. It might not necessarily be Flash
that removes it but apparently something does.
Solution #1: Google "Flash No Audio WAVEMAPPER" for
directions, its been covered a bunch, but basically requires
running REGEDIT and readding the WAVEMAPPER key to the appropriate
location and value in the registry. Its not as difficult as it
    sounds.
    http://weyland.be/wrdprss/index.php/2006/08/22/no-sound-in-macromedia-flash-player-9/
if your wavemapper key is installed correctly...
Possible Cause: Corrupted or damaged flash content preventing
    audio streaming from working correctly.
Soltuion #2: Run CC Cleaner and delete only cached Flash
content. It is a free program, again just google "download CC
Cleaner". This particular solution worked for me.
If CC Cleaner also does not work, the description of your
problem may differ slightly. In my case on several computers, one
day it worked, the next day it didnt. If it never worked, this
would be a logical solution for you. One variation of this that I
have found is to create a new Windows User Account and log into it.
The reason the CC Cleaner method may work better is that the User
Accounts have their own separate cache folders so a corrupted cache
preventing audio playback on one profile will not be available on
the other User Account to cause the same problem. I wont explain
how to do this as the CC Cleaner will work better but if you are
curious, yet again google "create new windows user accounts". I
have also seen this method work on one of my affected computers but
it did not fix the issue on the account I was having problems with.
    http://www.ccleaner.com Install
and run it, use it only to remove Flash under the Applications Tab,
Multimedia, Adobe Flash Player. Check it and uncheck everything
else, then hit Analyze then Run Cleaner.
    Possible Cause: Missing Codec
Solution #2: Download and install the K-Lite Codec pack.
Again, google it. A CODEC stands for COmpressor DECompressor and is
a way to make audio and video files small enough to be transferred
on the internet. There are a lot of different codecs and if you
want to play back a video that was compressed using a particular
codec, you will need that same corresponding codec to decompress
your media source and view its content. Basically if you dont have
a codec, you cant observe the content of the media. If you have a
VCR and want to play back a DVD, you are out of luck unless you get
a DVD Player. DivX and XVid Codecs are some of the very popular
codecs used on the net, but to get those, I still suggest getting
    the K-Lite Codec Pack.
    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
Solution #4: Go back to Flash 7. If it aint broke dont fix
it. This Final alternative is only to be used as a last resort.
You'll have to get rid of Flash 9 and go back to Flash 7. The
really tricky part here is that you have to prevent Flash from auto
updating itself. If you install Flash 7, and hit up YouTube, you'll
immediately get Flash 9+ installed again with the same problems. So
AFTER you uninstall Flash 9 (use Macromedias / Adobes uninstaller,
yet again go google it) make a new text file and name it MMS.CFG,
in the file put this one line "AutoUpdateDisable=1" (without the
quotes) and put it in BOTH your c:\windows\system32 AND
c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash folders. This will prevent flash
from Auto Updating to 9+, then have to find some place to download
the old flash 7 installer. I found one here.
    http://www.intercomm.com/downloads/Flash7.
Only problem is that most sites will try to make you install Flash
9 and Flash 7 does not work on all sites, but it does on some like
YouTube. DO NOT UPDATE TO FLASH 9+ IF YOU USE THIS METHOD.
You will probably want to IMMEDIATELY go to
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager05.htm l
after installing Flash 7 and UNCHECK the update feature
I've tried to write this quick little guide at 3AM so Im not
going to take more time to research other ways to fix this problem.
If you have other solutions, such as for MAC and LINUX, or feel
like adding on to something else that I've written here (links
would be useful to the downloads I suggested) or correcting any
mistakes I probably have made, please say so.
One of these solutions is bound to help you. Theres multiple
causes for this no audio problem so there is obviously multiple
    fixes.

  • Is Flash the solution for my problem?

    Hello All:
This is a question about hyperlinks in Flash, but it is not a "how to" question, because I know that hyperlinks can be created in Flash.  More, my question is whether Flash is the right tool for what I'm interested in doing.
Basically, I'm a video producer and clients occasionally ask me whether I can insert hyperlinks into their videos.  My answer has always been: "Sorry, no deal.  Final Cut Pro does not have that capability."
So my question is this: am I making things way too difficult by seeking out Flash as a solution to this?  Apple has a software called Keynote that is supposed to be able to add hyperlinks, but it may be a bit of a clumsy to use and it seems that it sometimes delivers rather uneven results.  That's at least what I was understanding from what I read on the Apple forums.  And, on those same forums, several people suggested others like me to use Flash for creating hyperlinks in video... i.e. we produce our videos, we import to Flash, we had text hyperlinks, we export out to Quicktime.
Would you say that Flash is probably too expensive and sophisticated a tool for something fairly straightforward like this, keeping in mind that I don't know a darn thing about how to use Flash?  What I'd really like is an intuitive piece of software that would make the process easy.  If Flash is not the answer, do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks, Geoff

Thanks for the response.  From what I heard on the Apple forums, it was pretty clear that creating hyperlinks within the video was something that Flash could definitely do.
I guess I'm curious to hear whether it's easy since I know nothing about Flash!  If ithere's going to be a major learning curve, I might not bother and continue to tell my clients I can't help them.
BTW: If I wanted to import my video and create the hyperlinks, is it possible to export the video as a quicktime file and still keep the hyperlinks?  That's another important piece of this.

  • Flash Catalyst - solutions to the 20 states limitation

Oops!! I accidentally marked this question as "Assumed answered".
I have not got any respons yet and am very anxious to hear about a solution to my problem.
    hjbune2
    Hi everybody
I have created an interactivew project in Flash Catalyst, however, just as I am about to add the final states to the project, I am told that I am limited to 20 states. Apparently I have exceeded that number and cannot finish my project, which has taken me hours to create.
The help file tells me that the way around the limitation is to encapsulate components. Unfortunately, there are no concrete examples of how to do that.
If someone can help me out here, I shall be very grateful.
    Yours
    hjbune2
    Hi again
I realize that it is difficult to help me unlless I'm more specific as to my project.
The project has a main window with a vertical menu with 10 buttons which displays in every state and opens with an application transition:
I have an 'on click' interaction on each of the buttons, which transitions the user to "contents 1" on a page with a scrolling bar component, using a flex component from the common library:
The button in the lower right corner brings the user to a scrolling panel sub page:
The button in the lower right corner opens a pdf document to allow the reader to print the subject.
This is the structure for all 10 buttons in the vertical navigation bar.
Futhermore, I have animated background boxes coming in from the bottom on the scroplling panel pages.
I was not aware of the 20 states limitation before I started the project and am hoping that I can still save the project by finding a work around that will allow me to fit all my items and their contents into the existing structure, some magic recipe ;0)
If this is not possible, I am hoping that someone can instruct me on how to design the structure to avoid the problem next time around.
Any help will be VERY MUCH APPRICIATED.
By the way, I think Adobe should definitely introduce the states limitation at an early point in their tutorials, so that it does not come as a nasty surprise when it is too late. I have watched all the adobe video tutorials and there is no mention of this limitation.
I hope that they will bring a video tutorial on how to work your way around it, with step by step examples, as soon as possible.

    Hi Chris
I don't mind sharing my project at all and will be very grateful if, if you would tke a look at it.
How do I make the fxp file accessible here in disacussion forum. I cannot find any insert/upload file option in this editor.
    Best regards
    hjbune2
    Hi again
I have now uploaded the original project, where I ran out of states, and the edited project where I tried to use custom components with states for item one's subpages.
I sincerely hope that you can tell me how to go beyond the 20 states, since the success of my undertaking is utterly dependent on this.

  • Jerky Flash - possible solution?

This may be a clue to finding the solution to jerky video play:
What I discovered is that online video seems to play smoothly if I jiggle my mouse cursor in the video window. The faster I do it the smoother the video plays. It does not work outside of the video.
Can anyone else replicate this? My mouse is a Logitec MX Revolution.
I have the latest updates of Firefox, flash (10,0,22,87 ) and FF addons.

it was on any video site that used flash.
i've solved my issue. i had an online feed reader   netvibes.com tab open. netvibes seems to refresh constantly and that was the problem. closed the tab and everything is fine. weird that it made any difference to move my mouse around, but sometimes there's no explaining things..

  • 64 bit IE9 and Flash noworkie solution.

Adobe now has a 64&32 bit code download, as your machine admin. using Adobe code uninstall what you have and load the newest code.
Here is how I fixed my issues. Some or all these two changes solved my issues with the most current Adobe Flash version 11.1.102.55 problem not working with Win 7, 64 bit using IE9 version 9.0.3, through an Intel HD graphics card.
Try just this change first, if not successful add the next change ( I made both changes at the same time)
Try them one at a time, in the order of mention below.  That first change instructions had me download and use Firefox. During a Flash play I right clicked/ settings/ first tab had Hardware Acceleration checked, I unchecked Hardware Acceleration, tabbed over and also set memory to 10Mb. In both IE9 or Chrome you can see these settng but you cannot uncheck these Adobe Download Default.
If not successful add this change.
    • Open Menu bar Tools/Internet Options (or located in theControl Panel).
    • Click on the Advanced tab.
    • Click on the Reset button click Reset. (no need to delete your settings you lose a lot of stored histrory)
    • Close IE and reLaunch IE9 and Adobe Flash Player might be properly enabled.
Thanks Adobe, and MS you wasted a whole weekend producing this problem for me!  Worked before, one or both your updates caused this problem.  Worst computer QC I have seen since the new Dell Computers.

To assist us in quickly understanding your problem, please follow these guidelines when posting:
Specify your operating system (including 32bit or 64bit edition)
Specify your web browser and version (including 32bit or 64bit edition)
    Specify your Flash Player version

  • Ie white flash blink solution

    hi,
just wanted to share that i've managed to get the menu to
work well in firefox, safari and chrome but in ie6 and sometimes in
7 it was blinking a white flash when changing between the menu
    items.
to solve it all i had to do is remove this line from my code:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
even when it was commented it was still doing it. i also
tried it with a combination adding the UTF8 attribute into the tag
    but only removing it helped.
    cheers,
    aaron.

I dont see anything flashing in IE7, FF, i only see the arrow
disapearing and showing on mouseover in IE6. or is this what u
    mean?
Also im seeing your using /* SpryMenuBar.js - Revision: Spry
    Preview Release 1.4 */ <-- 1.4
I suggest downloading version 1,6 and check if the problem is
    still there.

  • Carriage return in TextArea Flash component in Director 11

    Hello.
I have a very big problem now
Neither embedded Flash movies with textareas or standard flashcomponent TextArea from Director tool pallete do not react on keyboard button "Enter" pressings. There is no carriage return after ENTER button is pressed. The same with End and Home buttons!!
    Please help with any advise.
    Is that a common bug?
See attached test.dir file. Try to type something in both textareas and then press ENTER button on keyboard. You should realize then what I'm crying about(((
    Alexey

I too struggled with this issue. If you're looking for a solution still I have written one. Used the attached script in your Flash document, I spent a few days going back and forth between Director and Flash to figure this one out. Basically what I do is attach a key listener to the movieclip containing the textfield object that on keyDown gets the currently focused textField (this way it will work with multiple textField objects). After that it determines if the enter key is hit and if it is inserts a "/n" break at the selection starting point. The only issue is if you select a whole word in the textField and hit enter a break will be placed at the beginning of the highlighted word and that word will not be deleted. Hopefully this helps.

// Solution involves inserting a \n carriage return wherever cursor insertion point starts.
// In Flash this adds 2 carriage returns for every hit of the enter/return key
// In Director 11.5 it adds 1 carriage return
// Change "body_txt" to represent the dynamic textField object this script is referencing
    myListener = new Object();
    myListener.onKeyDown = function() {
    _global.textFocus = Selection.getFocus();
// get a string of the path to the currently focused textField object
    _global.selStart = Selection.getBeginIndex();

  • Flash movie display issues in IE

    Hi Everyone!
This message is a cross-post and I apologize, but there seems
to be more traffic in this forum and I really could use some input
    on my question. Here goes:
I'm new to this forum, but have a little experience with
Flash. I'm building a site, mixing flash with css and html on a
webpage (obviously). When I test the pages in Internet Explorer,
the display jumps around quite a bit when I navigate between web
pages (looks fine when clicking through frames in the movies). This
is the first time I've ever seen this (in the few times I've built
flash-heavy sites) and this display issue doesn't happen in
Firefox, Opera or even old Netscape. Unfortunately - most of the
world is using IE, so I need a little help.
I thought perhaps the Flash Satay solution might be the
answer, but I'm not a handy programmer so before I go mucking
around with it, I thought I'd get some thoughts from other flash
    users...
Here's the link: mustardseedwoodworking.com/testing The pages
in question (and the only ones that are working, really) are the
home page, the about page, and then galleries one and two.
(Oh finally, I'm viewing these pages both locally, on my
computer and online after being uploaded. I have cable internet
access. I realize Gallery 2 loads a bit more slowly than Gallery 1,
but the primary reason I'm using flash to display the tables is
because I want large, high rez photos. )
    Thanks in advance!
    Michelle

  • How to solve inability to install Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.146 for MSIE9

Update - 1/24/13:  After spending hours trying all of the suggestions on the web for Flash installation solutions, without any success, I installed IE10 (replacing IE9) and afterwards Flash Player installed successfully.
I am unable to install on Windows 7, the current downloaded standalone installer for Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.146.  I uninstalled the old Flash Player using the adobe uninstaller.  Nothing happens after I double click the latest installer file named  install_flashplayer11x32ax_gtba_chra_dy_aih.exe. There are no error messages, all that happens is the installer file deletes itself.  I have checked in the Windows Task Manager for any active Flash Player processes and are there are none.   The online installer for Firefox worked fine and installed the Flash Player without problems.  I am unable to find any solutions on the adobe webpage "Flash Player Help - Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows" (linked to the download page).  I am up against a brick wall, and your assistance will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I'm glad you were able to work around this.  I hope IE10 works well for you (I've been using it on Win8 but haven't tried the preview for Win 7 yet.)  In the future, you can also try to use the stand alone installers located here:

  • USB 2.0 Card Issue After Waking - Solution?

I know this issue has been discussed a number of places, and I have read a lot of the threads. I was curious though if anyone has found a solution to the issue of USB cards not working after waking from sleep. I have read that the thumb drive seems to do the trick, but for me I get no response, it still will not work. As you all know this is a problem, and renders my iPod useless b/c I can't dock it or charge it, etc.
Point being - any solution yet? What about if the thumb drive idea doesn't work? Could it be b/c the thumb drive is not formatted specifically for the Mac (ie FAT32)?
I just kind of wanted to get the solution(s) out there in one nice place.
    Thanks!

Thanks, but deep sleep is not the problem. I've read a lot abotu that but have never experienced it. I am referring to the new prodblem induced by Leopard where the USB card doesn't have any power after wakign from sleep. There have been many discussions of it, and I just wondereed if anyone has a solution yet. The flash drive solution that works for some does nto work for me.
