Flex charts and trunk sdk or beta build
has anyone managed to use adobe datavis with latest build of sdk
anything i try to add, say a line graph just runtime errors wrong number of arg's)
I'll post more info on this in morning, but been coding for 19 hours today and im worn outt
if anyone has been usinf latest sdk4 with any data vis components (from any company) can u let me know as I need to get onto this adas

It turns out this was a syntax issue. I assumed “Ensure
that Java SDK is installed on the computer and that the
java_home/bin directory is defined in the system path.”,
meant
Set Path=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01\bin;….
not
Set java_home=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01

Copy and Paste Flex chart to Word Document
Hi , I'm a newbie to Flex and was wondering if anyone knows
if it possible to use the right click button on the mouse to copy
and paste a Flex chart to a Word Document? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Simply let a IE or FireFox window display your Flex chart,
and hold [Alt] and press [PrtSc] in your keyboard, Then, paste it
into Word or Paint to be edited.

I have recently purchased Flex Charting and added the serial
number to the License Management section in Flex Builder 2 and now
all of my charts that I have created previously are not displaying
at all. I am getting an error telling me this

This suggests that your HTTPService result is coming back in
a format where
you can't just get the properties off of it. You may need to
set the result
format to e4x, and since it is rss you may need to use one or

Hi,
I've put together a simple test app that pulls data from blazeds and inserts the results in a PieChart defined in mxml. However when I try to create the same chart in AS the chart doesn't show up. I suspect that it is perhaps related to the sequence of how things are initialized? but I'm not sure
Here is my code. I've created 3 charts. The first (mxml) chart is the one that works fine. The second (AS) is my attempt to recreate the mxml chart in AS and it does not work. The third is a sanity check of another test AS chart just to see if I can actually make an AS PieChart and it also works fine.
If anyone has any insight it would be much appreciated.

Flex Builder 3 Beta 2 Expires early when using Flex 2 key, and new SDK
I was told to use my Flex 2 key to extend the Beta period for
Flex Builder 3, this worked, today it said I have 99 days left.
but When I installed the latest SDK and restarted Flex
Builder 3 Beta 2, it says it expires in 15 days.
If I put the original SDK back and restart it goes back to 99
days, so If I switch the SDKs while Eclipse is already loaded it
seems to stay at 99 days, so now before I start Eclipse I have to
move the orig SDK back, start Eclipse, then switch SDKs.
This does not make much sense to me, why does the SDK affect
the Builder Beta Period at all? is there a fix for this, I have a
project due but 31st, and I would be screwed if it dies before
then, I already have flex 2 but I cannot roll back as this project
relies on Flex Builder 3 Functionality.I the probelm we are stating is that we DID enter our flex 2
key and it DID initially set the expire date out, but I needed to
use a later SDK and thats when the problem occured. without the
latest the ImageSnapshot.captureImage does not work at all for me,
so must use a later SDK. However this morning my Eclipse started
stating 96 days remaining and I am still using the latest SDK, so
no idea why it works sometimes and not others. -
Flex Builder 3.1 Standard and Flex SDK 4.1 build 16076
Hi I have a problem I have downloaded Flex SDK 4.1 16076 and added to my sdk list in Flex Builder. I can compile my program fine except when I change files the flash imports are removed and the code hints don't have any knowledge of flash.display and other base classes such as Movieclip and Sprite. As soon as a manually paste the imports into my class files it compiles again but can't be doing with copying imports back in every time I change a class file.
It didn't do this on version 4.0.0 - I have added -static-link-runtime-shared-libraries=true to compiler arguments as I did have a problem with it firstly compiling about FontAsset.
Does anyone know why? Do I have to add another swc in?You should always have separate workspaces for separate versions of Flash Builder.

Hi guys. I am experiencing a problem with not being able to use Flex's chart components with sdk 3.5
I have Flex Builder Professional.
Charts work with the 3.0 and 3.2 SDK but not 3.5
Am I missing something?I found out that the library is not bundled with the SDK itself and has to be downloaded separate. I downloaded the library here http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flex/sdk/datavisualization_sdk3.5.zip

Flash Builder and Flex4 SDK 9731+ issue
Hello everyone. I've been working with Flash Builder Beta and latest Flex4 SDK nightly builds for some time now and did not have any major obsticles.
That was until I downloaded 9731 build. Flash Builder compiled my project without any problem, however, when I tried to launch the application in my browser I've got these errors:
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class IVisualElement could not be found.
(after I click continue)
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable CrossFade_CrossFadeShaderClass is not defined.
(after that)
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable Wipe_WipeShaderClass is not defined.
(and after that)
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable _cfdd017153b35cc39170086d5b82e02ae917ac7c68abee5c5b64ce1a052a4aac_flash_display_Sprite is not defined.
Of course when I click "Continue" nothing shows up on the screen.
The only similar issue I've managed to find is related with Flexmojos (http://code.google.com/p/flex-mojos/issues/detail?id=163) which, I think, has nothing to do neither with Flex4 SDK nor Flash Builder in this case.
Maybe anyone has ideas about this? Does this have something to do with Flash Builder incompatibility with nightly SDK builds? Or maybe the new SDK
has not been built correctly?
By the way, I've decided to stick with 9674 built and wait for more nightly builds when I first encautered this problem. Today I've downloaded 10008 built of
Flex4 SDK and the problem is still there.Hello ThinkLoop;
I have .10339 now working with no new issues. If this helps I started a discussion (below) in which I was getting an error, the error given seemed unrelated to the fix but... essentially when recreating the project, which seems to be a common event when updating the SDK, I have to re-attach the modules to the project.

Workaround for using the latest nightly SDK 4.0 builds with Flash Builder Beta 2
The latest builds of SDK 4.0 have been updated in preparation for including playerglobal.swc for Flash Player 10.1. Flash Builder Beta 2 can not find playerglobal.swc due to the addition of the {targetPlayerMinorVersion} variable found in the flex-config.xml file.
When using recent nightly SDKs with Flash Builder Beta 2, please modify them as follows:
1) Rename the folder <nightly sdk location>/frameworks/libs/player/10.0 to "10"
2) Edit the file <nightly sdk location>/frameworks/flex-config.xml and remove ".{targetPlayerMinorVersion}" and save
When you restart Flash Builder, we will now find a correct location for playerglobal.swc, allowing for code hints and many other features to work properly.

Flex 2.0.1 SDK Hotfix 1 breaking Flex Charting?
Hi all,
I applied the Flex SDK 2.0.1 Hotfix 1 listed in
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb401224
to my Eclipse Flex Plugin environment with SDK 2.0.1. Unfortunately
this seems to have broken flex charting with the following
compilation errors in my project: Unable to resolve a class for
ResourceBundle: charts.
Now the SDK doesn't have the charts.swc file, so I tried
copying over the charts.swc from my old SDK folder to the
frameworks\libs folder under the new hotfixed SDK. This doesn't
seem to fix the error however. It makes sense as charting it a
separate component but maybe there is an upgraded chart version as
well to work with the hotfixed SDK?
Can anyone provide any guidance here, we are in dire
straights. Any help is greatly appreciated!

To update the Flex Builder 2 Eclipse plug-in on Windows:
1. Read the Flex Builder 2 Release Notes for any
late-breaking information, updates, and known issues.
2. Download the Flex Builder 2.0.1 Update Installer for
Windows from the Adobe Flex Support Center.
3. Open or double-click the installer executable file.
4. Accept the license agreement and follow the prompts.
5. If the installer detects multiple installations of Flex
Builder 2, it prompts you for the location to be updated.
6. Select which Flash Player 9 browser plug-in to install:
* Internet Explorer
* Netscape or Firefox
Note: Flex Builder 2.0.1 and Flex SDK 2.0.1 can run with the
base version of Flash Player 9 (Version: 9,0,16,0 dated 6/27/07).
However, it's best to install the Flash Player 9 Update.
7. (Optional) When the installation finishes, restart your
computer to ensure that the updated Flash Player browser plug-in is
enabled.

Can i update flex 4.6 sdk to flash builder 4.5 for php ?

i already downloaded the 4.6SDK from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flexsdk site but once i add the new sdk to flash builder and try to make a new project
i cannot switch to design mode at all , gives me and erro rmessage: The Design mode is disabled as the project uses incompatible version of the flex SDK.
What's the deal ?

LareIf you're using components specific to the Flex 4.6 release, then it would be a natural assumption that design view will not work. If you're having this issue while using components that are not unique to Flex 4.6, then I don't have an answer. On a good note, design view is completely useless anyway. It's much faster to type than to drag stuff around with your mouse needlessly.

Flex 2 SDK; Can't Build Examples
I recently down loaded the Flex 2 (Flex_SDK_2) software.
After downloading it, it further required the down loading of an
JAVA SDK (I chose Java™ SE Development Kit 5 {jdkl.6.0_01}
from Sun based upon what I think you guys recommended).
I have included
“C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01\bin” or
“C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01\jre\bin” in
the system path.
However, when I try and build the examples using the provided
batch file which uses “.\bin\mxmlc” I get
Error: could not find JRE
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
I confirmed that the path was set properly by simply
executing “Java” or “Java-RMI” from the dos
prompt where the “mxmlc.exe” resides.
At the moment, I don’t know what to do next.

I am in the process of making a flex charting application
that receives data from a java applet. I've made the
flex-javascript connection using the FABridge but when Flex adds
the data to the chart it jumps around. In the following link is the
app running to show you it, I have allowed the source to be viewed
as well.
Has anyone had this problem before? Or can see a solution?
This jumping around doesn't just affect the chart, if I add
another element not even within the chart area, but somewhere else
in the application it moves around too.

I apologize for delayed response. Yes, in general you can move Java EE applications to Oracle Java Cloud Service and move the corresponding data to Oracle Database Cloud Service. But you need to make sure that your application fits the surface area exposed by Java Cloud Service. You can check that in couple of ways: (1) when you try to deploy your application in our cloud, it will run a whitelist process that will indicate if you are using features/APIs that are currently unavailable in the cloud. Your can run the whitelist offline using the Java Cloud Service SDK. The SDK zip has a help file that explains how to run the whitelist. Once you determine that your application can fit within the surface area of the Java Cloud Service, you can deploy it. You can move you data as explained here -- http://docs.oracle.com/cloud/CSDBU/develop.htm#CSDBU204
