Flow of form on stored procedure

I've two procedure, proc1 and proc2, proc1 will do some database task whereas proc2 just write a few message with htp.print. Now, I created a form on procedure on proc1, when proc1 complete, there is a default page with a 'tick' picture and a link back to the form.
First question: is there any way to customise this page?
If I call proc2 within proc1, message generated by proc2 will be shown followed by the standard tick picture and link. However, if I use url_redirect with proc1 to redirect the process to proc2, only message generated by proc2 is shown, no more tick picture.
Second question: would this make my procedure proc1 incomplete?
Third question: I want to show a link back to the original form like the default page, how can I do that?
Thanks for any help.

First question: is there any way to customise this page?No.
If I call proc2 within proc1, message >generated by proc2 will be shown followed by >the standard tick picture and link. However, >if I use url_redirect with proc1 to redirect >the process to proc2, only message generated >by proc2 is shown, no more tick picture.Well, that's exactly the reason why it does not make sense to customize the result screen. If your procedure doesn't need to produce output the default screen will do. The chances are that in case you will want to produce some output it is entierly up to you what kind of information you want to display.
Second question: would this make my procedure proc1 incomplete?No, it won't, plsql procedures are executed in a serial manner.
Third question: I want to show a link back to the original form like the default page, how can I do that?See my earlier reply about CALL and GO.
Thanks for any help.

  • Publishing JSP form JAVA stored procedure [Oracle8i 8.1.7]

    Hi folks,
    I wonder if anybody knows a way to publish JSP from JAVA stored procedure.
    I know there is a way to load java class using PL/SQL package DBMS_JAVA.loadjava(), or
    oracle.aurora.server.tools.loadjava.LoadJavaMain.serverMain() from java.
    But I need somthing like publishjsp to translate the JSP.
    Also would be nice if I can invoke this from a LOB where I have stored my JSP.
    Any ideas?
    Mitko

    I case anyone is interested.
    I managed to find out what I was doing wrong.
    First when you call a stored procedure that is in a package and is a method of a class. You call it referencing the packagename.method. Leaving out the class name. Also, since this was a method that returns a value. The return value has to be assigned to a variable or used in an sql statement. Such as:
    var x number;
    call claimsprocedures.ip(19990033) into :x;call completed
    print x;(then the value is displayed in sql*plus

  • Link to form with stored procedure

    Hi all,
    We want to have a report with a link that goes to a form that updates using a stored procedure.
    The update form has to get the recent data (not the data from the report).
    To do this we want to pass the id parameter and with that get the rest of the fields from the table.
    Does somebody know how to do this?
    TIA,
    Igor & Eric

    Create a report.
    Create a form based on procedure.
    Create a link based on the above form.
    Attach this like to the report Id column.
    Now edit this link and supply the value for ID (Select the column) for the corresponding form field.
    Thanx,

  • OIM: Retrieve data from stored procedure,  pre populate it in Resource form

    Hi,
    I need to retrieve data form a stored procedure that i have created . This data needs to be per populated in the Iplanet resource from. The stored procedure will have one input string and one output string.
    Thankz,
    Sanjay Rulez

    1. Prepare OIM Admin Console to interact with an Oracle Database, by adding jdbc jar files in the lib Directory of OIM Console.
    2. Restart OIM Console and Create a database Resource
    3. Create an Pre-populate adapter Task with a "Stored Procedure" Type
    4. Invoke you Procedure.
    The main problems can be around datatype conversion between Java and Oracle database.
    For instance, all Oracle NUMBER type are mapped on java LONG type, and you need to deal every time with conevsrion between INTEGER and LONG in the adapter task.

  • Would RollBacks For Stateless Session Beans work In case of Stored Procedures or Triggers Written in Oracle PL/SQl

              We are writing a J2EE application and using Weblogic 5.1 on Unix machine. We are
              considering writing some Stored Procedures or Triggers on Oracle DBMS. Hence our
              Stateless Session Beans / Data Access Objects (DAOs) would be calling those stored
              procedures, which would reside on Oracle 8.1.7 (on Windows 2000). (These Data
              Access Objects are running under the umbrella of a Stateless Session Beans). We
              are using WebLogic's Connection Pooling.
              Our question is: Would we get reliable rollbacks from our stored procedures. I
              mean would the Transaction Management process of the EJB container work. Remember
              the SQL is written in the Database (Oracle in this case) in the form of Stored
              Procedures / Triggers through PL/SQL.
              Any ideas or tips would help.

              I would agree with Cameron Purdy. Be very cautious to use Oracle specific
              Triggers / Stored Procedures. Consider following, (apart from what he said):
              1. Unreliable behaviour of the Oracle JDBC drivers, specially 8.1.6 family..
              (You may visit the Oracle's web site and see the newsgroups for the JDBC drivers).
              This is enough of a reason to stop right there.
              However for interest sake you may consider following issues:
              2. By use of Oracle specific Triggers / SPs the application will not be portable.
              Vendor Lock In. Remember your choice for J2EE compliant Server (WebLogic in this
              case). The whole purpose would be defeated by going for this option.
              3. There are issues related to the extensibility of the application. I have
              my reservations and would hold my breath on two phase commit protocol transactions
              being reliable in this scenario.
              Have fun...

  • Blocks based on stored procedure in Forms6

    I've successfully based a form on stored procedures. It's a master/detail form, so each block has its own procedure to query.
    It works fine until a procedure return no rows in pl/sql table parameter. When this happens, the PLSQL_TABLE.POPULATE_BLOCK built-in, used automatically by forms to populate the block, fails.
    How can I deal with queries that returns no rows?

    I've found a workaround.
    I raise an application error in the package on server-side where there's no
    data to query with RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20XXX,'ERROR DESCRIPTION').
    Then I use ON-ERROR trigger on the block to ignore the error.
    And so it's worked.
    Different solutions are welcome!

  • Pass Value by Form Based on Procedure in Target Frame

    I made a form based on procedure and trying to pass all variables to a target frame called "dest2". I got the sample code on this forum and used window.location, but then I figured it can't pass values to another frame. I tried window.open, but can't seem to figure out how to code it.
    Basically on the page, it has the portal form using stored procedure, and a IFRAME named "dest2".
    The detail my stored procedure is:
    ====================
    Create or Replace Procedure WM.TEST
    p_from_date IN VARCHAR2,
    p_to_date IN VARCHAR2,
    p_desformat IN VARCHAR2,
    as
    begin
    htp.p('<script>');
    htp.p('window.location="http://domain/portal/page?_pageid=1063,801014&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&p_from_date='||p_from_date||'&p_to_date='||p_to_date||'&p_p_desformat='||p_desformat||'"');
    htp.p('</script>');
    end;
    ===============
    Does anybody know how to modify this procedure to pass value to target frame = "dest2" ?
    Thanks,
    Sal

  • Passing parameters from vb form to a crystal report with stored procedure

    Can someone give me an idea how to use data inputted on vb form to be use as basis of crystal report generation which loads data from a stored procedure. Stored procedure has parameters that was also set in the crystal report. viewing on crystal report is ok but i am having difficulty running the report from vb.

    Hi John,
                  If Not CRRpt.ParameterFields("AgeType") Is Nothing Then
                        CRRpt.ParameterFields("AgeType").CurrentValues.Clear()
                        Dim ParamValue As new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterDiscreteValue
                        ParamValue.Value = AgeType.ToString
                        CRRpt.ParameterFields("AgeType").CurrentValues.Add(ParamValue)
                    End If
    Note that the ParamValue.Value should be assigned with exact same data type as you declared it in CR.
    If it is string, Convert your Variable to string first.
    If it is date, make sure you are passing a date variable.

    Do you still have the Apply MRU process running? I assume you do because otherwise you wouldn't receive the error message. Is the process you are talking about running before the Apply MRU process? It seems it does. Try chaning the execution sequence and run this process after the automatic MRU process.

  • How do i handle out parameter from a stored procedure in a vb form?

    hi all,
    I want to return a varchar2(500) type of out parameter from a pl/sql stored procedure to a vb form?? how do i do this??
    regards
    akshay

    Well, when you create the parameter collection for your command object, just set the correct value for the direction component.
    You would set it to one of the below, depending on if the parameter is IN OUT or only OUT:
            <parameter_obj>.Direction = ParameterDirectionEnum.adParamInputOutput
            <parameter_obj>.Direction = ParameterDirectionEnum.adParamOutput

  • How do I get data to the from in a form based on a stored procedure

    I would like to create a form based on a stored procedure. I have bound LOV's that lookup the ID of the data that is to be displayed on the form. Then I have a button that reads the database and populates the fields on the form. This is our current UI standard on our portal site, and I need to copy that UI exactly in order to mix HTML DB code with our current portal code because we can not afford to re-write all our code in portal to HTML DB. Can this be done, and how can it be done? Thanks

    We are developing an entire HR system for our organization using portal forms. I am trying to prototype in HTML DB to see if we can switch our future development to this new product. However, we already have 50 or so forms that follow a certain user interface look and feel in portal. I am trying to create this interface look and feel in HTML DB. What we are doing in Portal is have a lookup section at the top of each form where you find the record you want to update with LOV's, sometimes 2 or 3 bound together, and then have a lookup button that does PL/SQL to read the database and populate the fields on the form. Then there is an Update button at the end of the form that takes the fields off the form and passes them to a stored procedure. I can not figure out how to do the Lookup button type of code to read information and bring it to the form when doing a form based on a stored procedure.

    When I query the form I get an error, FRM-40505, on 9iAS.
    However, if I created the same package as a stored database object, and based my form datablock on the database stored procedure everything works fine. I cannot find a reason why.
    I know that forms can be based on front end based procedures OR backend based procs. Dont have a clue here, any help is great.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hello Vijay,
    as far as i know there is no way to base a block on a 'front end stored procedure',
    assumed that you mean a package in a library or form.
    But what should be the reason for doing so, or the other way 'round why not just use a database package?

    You might be able to do this using a java stored procedure. I think you need to have version 8.1.6 or above to java stored procedures. Here's a couple of links that might help.
