FMB to JSP

Hi,
Need some help or guidelines on the below message.
I am using Forms 10g. I have created a simple form that after
compilation convets to .FMX.
Is there any utility in Oracle that will convert
my FMB or FMX to JSP or any other extension that will
execute independently without developer suit installed
on my machine.

This is not a simple thing to do. If it was, Oracle would have one. The structure of a Forms application and a Java application is so dissimilar and the philosophy so different that there are no equivalents for some of the features in Java. Its not a one to one mapping.
Having said that there are tools that converts Forms files to Java. They do a decent job but can only ever do 70-80% of the work. The company offering the tool often also offer consultancy time to finish the job. VGO has such a tool. Imex has one. They will cost you money, they will only do part of the job and if you don't have an application that you absolutely must have converted to Java (which your case seems to be) I'd either stick with Forms or start from scratch in Java.

  • How do I find the jsp code behind an Oracle EBS page

    Hello,
    I have not worked with Oracle EBS in about 3 years and am somewhat new to JSP. I am trying to figure out how it all works and would like to go from the front end Oracle EBS screen to the source code jsp file.
    I was able to find the queries behind the screen by clicking on the about page link. I was aslo able to find plenty of jsp files in the OA_HTML directory on the server but I was not able to line any of them up with an EBS page on the front-end of Oracle apps.
    With Oracle forms it seems much simpler when I just easily get the form name from the screen (Help->About Oracle applications) and then just open up the corresponding fmb with the same name.
    How do I find this corresponding jsp file?
    Thanks

    Here is a modified dealForm.jsp that merges the 2 steps - both symbol submission and Yahoo convert is done by it. Play with it and add your DB code to it:
    <html>
    <head><title>IPIB Database Selection</title></head>
    <body bgcolor="#DFDFFF">
    <H1><CENTER>IPIB Database Selection</CENTER></H1>
    <font size=4>
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%@ page import="java.net.*,java.io.*,java.util.*" %>
    <%
    String symbol = request.getParameter("symbol");
    if (symbol != null) {
    String urlString = "http://finance.yahoo.com/download/javasoft.beans?SYMBOLS=" + symbol + "&format=ab";
    try {
    URL url = new URL(urlString);
    URLConnection con = url.openConnection();
    InputStream is = con.getInputStream();
    InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is);
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
    String line = br.readLine();
    StringTokenizer tokenizer = new StringTokenizer(line,",");
    String name = tokenizer.nextToken();
    name = name.substring(1, name.length()-2);
    String price = tokenizer.nextToken();
    price = price.substring(1, price.length()-2);
    %>
    <p>
    Original line from yahoo <%= line %>
    </p> <p>
    Name: <%= name %>
    </p> <p>
    Price: <%= price %>
    </p> <p>
    Pub DB processing code from dealLoad.jsp here
    </p>
    <%
    } catch (IOException exception) {
    System.err.println("IOException: " + exception);
    } else { %>

  • Run Oracle Form Application from a JSP File.

    I have a complete customized application made on Oracle Forms (10g) and I have .fmb and .fmx files, now problem which I am facing is I have to open the Oracle Form Application from my JSP page (which is used to login the user). My JSP page is just a simple page which I have placed it in path [C:\DevSuiteHome2\forms\j2ee\formsapp\formsweb] and I run it from browser as [http://localhost:port/forms/index.jsp].
    How can I start my application from this JSP page? Please your help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Forms to JSP

    Hi,
    I know in 9i Forms, we can convert Forms to XML. Is there any utility using which I can convert a FMB file to a JSP file?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jatinder

    Ok - lets see if I can clear up a few mistruths ;o) ...
    Dan - "It's very disheartening to discover that the technology your organization has based it's solution upon is being dropped,"
    I don't know if I can make this any clearer that the Statement of direction says - WE HAVE NO PLANS TO DROP FORMS. FORMS IS NOT BEING DROPPED - Lets look at the facts. Forms has a HUGE customer base, Oracles own Applications E-Biz suite is written in Forms (and deployed on the web).
    This week at Oracle World Paris we had 3 Forms presentations which totalled over 500 delegates. We had 2 demo pods and a whole room of "hands on" Forms labs.
    Oracle9i Forms has a huge number of new features including a brand new debugger, a new translations tool, new features to support internationalisation to name but a few.
    The next release of Forms (10g) contains new features to maximize the features of the application server - new integration with Single SIgn on, new Forms features in Enterprise Manager, loads of performance improvements including runtime pre-starting of FOrms engines and JVM pool sharing.
    Do you think Oracle would be putting all this effort into a tool it is dropping???
    And let me be clear on one point. Just because we have a huge push in the J2EE market (and JDeveloper) does not back up this mis-information about Forms being dropped.
    J2EE is a (relatively) new market and as such there is a lot of excitement and new things going on. People like to talk about the hot new topics and new technology. But we see Forms and J2EE broadening your choices. Just read
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/formsj2ee_business.pdf.
    Kevin...
    "1. Pricing ( the low cost thread says it all )"....When this comes up I always say the same thing - speak to your Account manager - there are different pricing options to different customers situations. You also need to look at the bigger picture of comparing the whole management, deployment and maintainance of your application and not just the cost of the application server. (in the same way when you buy a house, you don't just look at the cost of the house but how much money it will take to maintain it, "do it up" etc etc.) - a new house may be more expensive than an old place but you spend a fortune "doing it up" - (I should know, Ihave just moved house!!! ;o))
    "2. Performance ( optimization for internet not considered)"
    See my postings about the new features in 10g (pre-starting and pooling) I would also ask if you can be more specific - what issue do you see are "not being considered". (worth starting on a new thread)
    "3. Compatibility ( Jinit vs Ms JVM vs Sun JVM )" - Not sure what you mean, we certify Jinit, we certify native JVMs we certify the Sun plug in, we certify IE, we certify NS, we certify Mac browsers - whats the issue (new thread please!)
    And finally, Jatinder
    "1. We execute forms on internet. That means, all of our users have to install JInitiator to their client machines."
    Regardless if you run Forms or run a Java applet application - you need a JVM - you would have to install this even if you didn't use Forms (if you don't want this then you need to go to a thin client JSP but at the cost of losing the rich Java UI functionality you dont' have in JSP) - there are pros and cons in everything - A rich Java UI needs a JVM - a thin client does not.
    "2. We have faced issues where forms, when executed for the first time, are cached on client machine and further update to the same record causes locking issues."
    Please specify on a new thread...
    Ok this is been a very long answer and I don't want to confuse the thread too much so please post new threads!
    Anyway thanks for asking these questions, I would rather spend the time answering these questions and ensuring you have the right facts....

    According to the release notes, for the JRCHelperSample to compile, you must set the target runtime for the project.
    To do this, either create a project from scratch that uses the Tomcat 5.5 target runtime, or go to the properties menu and ensure that the target runtime is set to the application server you will be using.

  • .How can I add data from one list to other in Jsp Page

    Hi..I have three multiple selection ListBox..I want to add the selected item from 2 list boxes to 3rd list box how can i do that..do i need to write javascript? If possible then suggest me some link where i can get help?
    Thanks
    Regards
    Chintan

    Yep, Javascript.
    Unless you want to post the data to the server and then rewrite the page (ie. jsp/servlets) then you are going to need to use a client side script to modify the page.
    Javascript. You need to get the onClick() event of one list box and get the item that was clicked. then you can rewrite the 3rd list box.
    If possible, try doing a search on google. Or do you want someone to hold your hand.

    Thanks in advance.HTTP is a request/response protocol. You can't do what you're suggesting without "pushing" what you type to all the other users. That's not the way HTTP works. Maybe an applet and servlet.

  • How to print new line in jsp page

    hi
    how to print new line in jsp page
    thanks

    \n - new line character is in java specific not HTML
    specific.Well, if the correct line separator sequence (by far not always \n) would be used, it does add a new line to the HTML output. Too bad that you don't want to see HTML but formatted text. The BR tag is a formatting element for the displayed text, not a line break in HTML. ;)

  • How to Get Portlet Namespace in a JSP attribute

    Hi All,
    The id of any component in a JSF application (with JSR168 portlets) takes the form
    'view'+'<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formname:componentidname';
    I need this id to be used for certain validations.
    Currently I am using it as below :-
    <h:intputText required="#{ ! empty param['viewns_7_CGAH47L000NAF0I04I42ND10P7_:form:login']}"/>
    Presently I have hardcoded the portlet namespace 'ns_7_CGAH47L000NAF0I04I42ND10P7_' by looking into the html source of the rendered page.
    Is there any way by which i can automatically get this portlet namespace within the param tag in the jsp.
    I know for a fact that within javascript tags, it can be used as <portlet:namespace/> as shown below :-
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function doSomething()
    buttonId= 'view' + '<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formName:buttonId';
    document.getElementById(buttonId).disabled = true;
    </script>
    Kindly treat this on high priority.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Darshan Shroff

    Perhaps so.
    I need to use it within param as below
    <h:inputText value="#{bean.userid}"
    required="#{!empty param['viewns_7_CGAH47L00GLRE0I0BCOUKS00I5_:form:login']}" />
    Here 'viewns_7_CGAH47L00GLRE0I0BCOUKS00I5_:form:login' is actually
    'view' + '<portlet:namespace/>'+':'+'formName:buttonId';
    I am just trying to check the presence of the client ID in the request paramameter map inorder to attain action dependent requiredness.
    Kindly tell me how i could access it within param.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Darshan Shroff

  • Remote system JSP project not working in eclipse

    Hi
    I am developing a JSP project. My files are on a remote server and I want to configure it in Eclipse 3.3 with Lomboz. The problem is After adding the project it gives a warning that xml files can't be validated.The exact warning is
    The file cannot be validated as the XML Schema "\192.168.1.10\gunjan_share\workspace\Project1\WebContent\WEB-INF\web.xml (The system cannot find the path specified)" that is specified as describing the syntax of the file cannot be located.
    Due to this error JSP pages are not getting compiled.
    Plz help me
    Thanks

    Extracted from Note 1067696.1:
    You need to either adapt your code to remove the scriptlets in your JSP page,
    or you can use the following Java option to disable OJSP:
    -Dadfvdt.disableOjspDeployment=true
    You can add this option -Dadfvdt.disableOjspDeployment=true in your file "ide.conf" in the directory "<Middleware_Home>\jdeveloper\ide\bin"
    For your Production environment, you can have your Managed WLS ignoring the OJSP mode by adding the Java Option -Dadfvdt.disableOjspDeployment=true
    * in the "startManagedWebLogic" (if you want to limit it to a specific Managed Server)
    * or "setDomainEnv" (for all managed servers in a domain).

  • Error message for a JSP-BC4 Application

    Hi,
    I have created a simple BC4J-JSP application using the wizards in Jdeveloper. I used the emp-dept table from scott.
    Then I created a .ear file and uploaded that to an OC4J instance using ias 902 enterprise manager. The main.html comes normally. But when I am trying to click on the left hand navigator the following error message is coming:

    Thanks,
    Ritendra.

    I think too, that is a time machine problem.
    I have 4 volume partions (3 hard disk) at this mac. I use only the time machine as backup system. Only one. Before I install Snow Leopard I use the latest MacOS X 10.5.8. Always the newest version of MacOS.
    Perhaps I describe it: Under 10.5.8 I use the time machine backup volume at an external firewire drive, always the same. I switch off this firewire drive often. In this case (the drive isn`t connect) the icon of this partition"Pro10.4" was changed to the time machine volume icon, but the time machine does nothing at this partition.
    After the installation of 10.6 I cannot access to this "Pro10.4" volume. I get the same error message if I want to open the external drive volume of my time machine backup. There is no problems with my other two partition. Of course my old V10.5.8 is at one of this partition. If I start my mac from a other partition (time machine is off), I have no problem with all partitions.
    I change the name of "Pro10.4", but nothing is changing. The time machine protect the backup volume under V10.6. Unfortunately it choose an other partition, if it don`t find my external drive. How can I reset this state of my "Pro10.4"?
    Thanks
    Uwe
