Folder Selector

I'm looking for a folder selector control.
Now I'm using JFileChooser to get directory path from any selected file in target folder.
A want any simple pop up window asking me what folder I want to select .
What control/bean I should to use?
Thanks

IMHO the directory chooser from the free L2FProd.com common components is much nicer:

  • Document Library Upload 'Choose Folder' programming Issues

    Hello,
    I have a document library with folders and subfolders and all folders have unique security inheritance applied. Administrator is able to upload to any folder using below dialog. I want everyone who does not have permission to the folders and subfolders to
    upload file. So I decided to programmatically incorporate the ‘Choose Folder’ functionalities via SPSecurity.RunwithElivatedPrivillages(Delegate(){ “…” });
    I incorporated fetching document library and populate hierarchies inside the security code so code run as system account. However when I call
    LaunchPickerTreeDialog
    it populates based on user permission and hence if user does not have permission to folder, it does not populate at
    all.
    How can I make sure to give this Upload file functionality to all users via dialog box with full permission so it generates all folders and subfolder of the document library when user select ‘Choose Folder’ option?
    Please note that if I type the correct doc library folder url, it successfully uploads to any folders as my code is inside the elevated permission. It is not good approach to give textbox to end user to type as they might make a mistake, so I need to provide
    a ‘Choose folder’ dialog functions but I want to run as elevated privileges as everyone who do not have permission also can upload the file.
    I also tried using
    http://howtosharepoint.blogspot.com/2010/02/sharepoint-2010-folder-selector-and.html but the following code can’t be resolved
    if
    (_hiddenSelectionField != null
    && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(_hiddenSelectionField.Value))
      _listUrl.Text = GetObjectUrl(_hiddenSelectionField.Value);
      _hiddenSelectionField.Value = string.Empty; }
    How can I declare and make use of  hiddenselectionField and
    ListURL in my webpart?
    Thanks

    There's always a few challenges when trying to get around SharePoint's security model. Your options would be to try to extend the LaunchPickerTreeDialog if it's not sealed or to write a custom folder picker control. If you go the custom route, you could
    even include it directly on that upload page to avoid the additional clicks.

    When I open the window to choose which files
    I can not select the files appear transparent

    Hi! So I had the same problem... I don't know if you still have it but here goes a possible solution: When you open the window to select the file, at left side of the folder selector you will see a view option. Select it and choose "None".

  • Put Itunes Songs in Time Capsule

    anyone using Time Capsule for the main source of their songs storage on Time Capsule?
    recommended?
    how to do?
    any advice.
    currently only using 150 GB of 1 TB for backup and want to use some more of the avail space for say songs that itunes can play.

    I'm using an external drive with an AEBS which is just about the same thing. Mount the TC drive on your computer, create a folder on the drive called Music (or whatever you like), and start iTunes. In the iTunes preferences, tab to Advanced and set the iTunes default folder to the folder you created on the TC drive. Make sure you have the item *Keep iTunes folder organized* checked. (It is right beneath the default folder selector in the advanced tab. Now close the preferences window. Under the Advanced menu item, select *Consolidate Library*. These steps will copy your music to the TC drive and make that drive your default location for music so everything you add to iTunes will be located there.
    Now walk away for a while. Depending on the size of your music library and how fast a connection you have, this could take a while...a long while.

  • "Photo Library" thumbnail disappeared (use to be there) - Name also changed

    Hey,
    I just got a new 3GS after my 3G was stolen. I first fired up itunes yesterday, and under 'photos' it offered a view of 4 blue folders (everything in "My Pictures"). It wouldn't let me browse 'into' a folder, so I moved the actual folder itself so it's root was in my pictures. Obviously at this point it showed, up, I selected it, hit sync.
    Now -- the view from within my phone when I selected "Photos" showed my different libraries, and the one I just uploaded ( all my contact wallpapers) had the NAME of the folder, as well as a thumbnail for the first photo in the folder. I loved this..
    I went back into itunes and saw the option to 'select folder', so i moved the folder back from root of my photos to where it belongs. Then when I selected that folder, the blue itunes folder viewer disappeared and now it's only the folder I selected with an empty screen.
    When I go back into 'Photos' after it syncs, the preview image is no longer there, and the name of the library has reverted back from the name of the folder to simply "Photo Library" with the default picture of the stupid yellow flower.
    In iTunes I can't get it back to the original way it was before I selected a custom folder. Is there any way I can get this back?
    Thanks
    it's a minor detail but, I really like it cause when I show pictures to people they will see my thumbnails of the different libraries, along with cool names

    Wow I actually just got it
    I fiddled with it 5 seconds longer.
    What I had to do was select the 'My Pictures' from the file selector, then cancel the sync (i have like 5gb of pics...), then i went away from the screen, then came back, and suddenly the folder selector is back.
    I moved the folder back into root, and now it shows the name of the folder in "photos" , along with the preview image !
    Rock on

  • Rules List Too Long and Runs off the Bottom of the Screen

    ... this means the Cancel, OK and folder selector are all missing. I have a large screen and even though I've added many into a list still it runs out of view and off the screen...
    Any ideas how to limit the height?

    I had this problem too. The only workaround I found was to limit the number of entries per rule. That means I have several rules that are divided Part 1, Part 2, etc.
    Would love to know if there is a better workaround, but I haven't found it yet.

  • TWAIN scanning via AIR?

    I know that this question was asked before, but it's been over a year...so I just wanted an update.  Can AIR access TWAIN scanning devices?
    thanks,
    Bryan

    Thanks for the fast response! Deleting library/containers/com.apple.preview and the scan with preview worked!
    Thanks also to ShlomiL, repair permissions found some errors, but there was still no scan via preview possible.
    Scanning via "Digital Pictures" or "Image capture" worked all the time, but I was used to take "Preview" for scanning. "Digital Pictures has nearly the same frame, but offers a folder selector (see also the threat of Linc Davis).
    Remains the question what the german manual will tell us with (via help: scan a picture - use a flat bed scanner - extended options: "select with Einblendmenü (fade-in menu?) the location for the scanned pictures. If you use a folder, all pictures will be stored in this folder, if you use an app, pictures will be opened by this app." ???
    Would be interesting if this would work!
    Anyway - thanks for the help

  • Mid '09 MBP bootup issue - flashing folder; possibly a fried drive?

    Hi All,
    This is my first post here. Today my 14 month old MBP 15-incher froze in the middle of some casual browsing/iTunes listening and decided to not respond to any mouse or keyboard input. I gave it some time to figure itself out and then after about 5 minutes of nothing, decided to force a shutdown by cutting power (10 second power button hold). Then upon my next boot the computer gives the chime, shows the grey screen (no  logo), does nothing for ca. a minute and a half and then presents me with the glorious flashing questionmark-folder-whatever logo. Just great.
    I reset the PRAM (option + command + p + r), tried Safe Booting (shift + boot), tried forcing the laptop to boot into the default os x drive/partition (x + boot), tried booting with GUI boot location selector (option + boot) and, when all mentioned practices failed, inserted a retail copy of snow leopard and booted the machine to the ODD.
    Disk Utility confirmed my fears: the main HD has no partitions and the "First Aid" tab can't verify or repair the disk.
    Help me out here, guys. Is my drive dead (and all my data gone)? Is this a "directory collapse"-style issue? I had one of those babies a month ago on an '07 white MacBook... a new HDD and two hours of data restoration work for $150 at a local Mac-centric repair shop fixed that issue. But this seems a little more serious.
    I was two days away from activating a central Time Machine backup to the home-network-attached 2TB HDD, for both Mac laptops in the household. I was also two days away from getting a Crashplan.com family package (yes, I wanted double backup). Why 2 days from now? Because my Carbon Copy Cloned backup HD (a WD elements 1TB) died a week ago. As in, "started-puffing-out-smoke" died.
    Perfect timing.
    Ideas? Please?

    I also suspect your internal HD has crashed. You can run Apple Hardware Test and then Google any error codes however I believe it's probably gone.
    Without any backup yes your data is probably gone, there are data recovery services however they are extremely expensive.
    If you purchased AppleCare you can take it an AASP for repair however they probably cannot do a thing about your data. If you are not covered by AppleCare of course the expense will be your however look at this as an opportunity to upgrade the internal HD to something with more storage or is faster.
    Once you have the new HD installed you will need the original Snow Leopard Install Disks (or possibly your retail copy of SL) to format the new HD and re-install SL and the iLife applications.

    Good luck,
    Roger

  • Saving Dialog Box - how to save to a folder 3 layers deep

    Finally through the leopard install!! 3 times a charm
    I know this is a really basic question... but how do you save directly to a folder a few layers deep in my folder set up. I click on file save as.... then click on the "where" drop down box but I am unable to click through to the folder I want. It seems basic (was able to do this easily through a PC years ago) have never found out so I thought I would post here.
    Appreciate any solutions.
    Thanks

    Click the large blue button with the downward pointing triangle on it next to the filename box in the "Save" dialog & it will expand into a fully navigable Finder-like view of the file system, complete with a toolbar containing the Spotlight search box (very useful for finding folders by name); a selector for list, icon, or column view; forward & back buttons; & even the sidebar.
    In this expanded view, you should be able to navigate to any conceivable folder location as easily as with the Finder.
    BTW, if you happen to have a Finder Window open & accessible, you can also drag & drop a folder from it into the "Save" dialog & it will select it as the location.

  • Error Code when trying to burn from a burn folder

    Hey everyone,
    I am trying to clean up some space on my powerbook G4 (not that I need to) but I like to keep things tidy. I was trying to burn some files onto a CD, it recognized the blank CD, displayed it in my finder as well as the burn icon, I had all the files set up, I hit burn, went to the speed selector, and then when I hit ok an error message popped up saying could not burn "Error Code 0x80020000). Any clue as to why that is? This is the first time I have had a problem burning files, both music and data have worked before.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi, Joshua.
    I presume you are using the internal optical drive that shipped from the factory with your PowerBook G4.
    1. You wrote: "I am trying to clean up some space on my powerbook G4 (not that I need to) but I like to keep things tidy."Be careful not to "tidy up" anything outside of your Home folder or the Macintosh HD > Users > Shared folder. Your Home > Library folder is another folder that should not be altered unnecessarily.
    "Tidying" System files can render your Mac inoperable unless you either:
    • Have a deep understanding of Mac OS X and the files in question.
    • Are instructed to remove such a file by someone with such understanding.
    2. You wrote: "Error Code 0x80020000)"This is an "Internal Disc Recording" error.
    You may have selected too high a speed for the optical media or the optical drive, have bad media, or be using optical media that your optical drive cannot see correctly. Some new, high-speed media use dyes that are problematic with older Mac optical drives. See Macintosh: Factors That Affect Writing to or Reading From Optical Media. If you've not used this brand of media before, try a brand and speed of media that has worked in the past.
    Good luck!

  • OS 10.2.0 Update after reinstall: "selector not recognized"

    I received an iMac G3 400MHz running OS 10.2.x (I don't remember which exactly, but probably 10.2.8), but noticed that certain things were missing in Utilities, like Terminal, System Profiler, Disk Utility, etc. Ran the Software Update, which applied, as I remember, a security update. But the Utilities things were still missing, so I reinstalled the OS using an original OS 10.2 (Jaguar) installation disk set. That did an "Archive and Install", so the old OS is in "Previous System".
    But now I can't apply any of the Combo Updates to 10.2: I've downloaded and tried 10.2.1, 10.2.2, 10.2.4, 10.2.6, and 10.2.8. All fail, with a message in the Console which says:
    Mac OS X Version 10.2 (Build 6C115)
    Installer[493] * +[IFGlobals isRunningOSInstall]: selector not recognized
    I notice that the usual suggestion is to go back to an earlier update, but, as I said, I've tried them all.
    I've also run the disk utility and repaired permissions. Also tried running this from another admin
    account.
    Can anyone suggest something?
    Thanks,
    Frank Huddleston

    Frank,
    Also check to see if, the Firmware Update was ever upgraded.
    This is a requirement, before OS X can be successfully installed.
    If one is required, you must start the computer from a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 System Folder on the computer's hard disk, not from a CD, in order to install it.
    If it was updated, in System Profiler, the Boot ROM Version should be 4.1.9
    If it was never installed, you can call Apple Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the serial number and specifications of the iMac, and for a fee, order a set of the original system discs.
    If you do an Erase & Install of the original OS, you can then update the Firmware.

  • Aperture import - folder and project structure!

    Hi, everyone!
    I am a long time Picasa user, and I really enjoyed the way my imported images simply put themselves into folders in the interface, all named by date automatically. I have been trying out Aperture for some time now, and I just can´t find a good way to mimic this. There is seemingly no way for Aperture to automatically name my projects by date, unless it gets to split up some dumb album/project that I have to name myself.
    I guess what I am asking here is: Is there any way to make Aperture automatically name, keep and update the same structure under "Projects and Albums" as id does in Finder?
    And yes.. I know I should name my projects myself with sweet relevant names, but I don´t wanna! I really want everything to be sorted by date.
    My solution at the moment: Import photos using no name in projects, Aperture splits anyway, I delete project in Aperture and then I drag and drop folder from Finder.  Gahh... This is heavy work for one used to simple and obedient Picasa
    Thanx!

    Hello,
    My solution at the moment: Import photos using no name in projects, Aperture splits anyway,
    How are your "Impert Preference" settings and "Import Settings"?
    In the Aperture -> Preferences -> Import   set the "Split Projects" Selector to the longest possible value, two weeks.
    And don't drag projects from the Finder, select them in In the "Import" Panel;
    make sure you have all import options visible by enabling them in the "Import Settings" drop down, then uncheck: "Automatically split Projects" in the "Aperture Library Brick"

  • Save/Open dialog crashes on opening a folder which contains multiple app. alias

    Hi:
    This is my first post in Apple forum, I've been searching some pages here, obviously I'm not the only one having this (or similar) problem but all existing threads are suggesting "Safe Mode" or "Disk Util" these useless things and never worked for me.
    I believe this is a bug from os x / Finder, not sure if this has been filed or not against Apple bug db.
    The problem:
    Save/Open dialog hangs up when loading / opening an existing folder which contains multiple application alias
    How to reproduce:
    1) Use any browser (I use Firefox and Chrome) to open a page and  print the page / or download something, or print something as PDF
    2) When Save dialog ( some people call it file picker or location selector, whatever) pops up, select a folder which contains multiple application alias
    3) Dialog hangs up, and the application icon on those  alias will not be loaded successfully. Need to Force Quit the browser.
    4) Issue cannot be reproduced always, but frequently enough if you have many application alias and files / subfolders in the target folder
    5) By removing all the application alias, can workaround the issue.
    6) The icons of application on those alias are loaded slowly in a successful loading (seems there are some performance issues)
    7) This issue has not been observed before upgrading to Mavericks
    Env:
    27 inch iMac Late 2012, 2.9GHz i5, 8G DDR3, NVIDIA GTX660M 512M, OS X 10.9.1
    Please anybody (not sure if Apple monitors this community) who knows details in regards to this, share some info. (or maybe there already is a fix ? ) .
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Lyle.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • Re: Using the setSearchSelection() method of Selector

    Hello All!
    I am not clear what value needs to be supplied to the
    setSearchSelection method of Selector object(Although the API
    help specifies that a string needs to be passed)
    Can someone throw some light?
    Actullay, I need to find a way to fetch all documents with the
    extension of .pdf which were created about 6 months back(I need
    to use the create date too).
    Is there some good source of information on IFS somewhere?
    I am also looking out for documentation on the oracle.ifs.search
    package which I find a bit sketchy. Any pointers?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Take a look at the SearchSample.java
    Then add this to it.
    public Search doSearch(String theType,String theField,String
    path,java.util.Date startDate,java.util.Date endDate) throws
    Exception
    try
         searchUtils.clear();
         String RfcAlias = searchUtils.addSearchClass(theType);
         searchUtils.addResultClass(RfcAlias);
         oracle.ifs.beans.Folder topFolder =
    folderUtils.findFolderByPath(path);
         searchUtils.addFolderRestrictCondition(topFolder,
    true,RfcAlias, true);
         searchUtils.addAttributeCondition
    (RfcAlias,theField, ">",AttributeValue.newAttributeValue
    (startDate));
         searchUtils.addAttributeCondition
    (RfcAlias,theField, "<",AttributeValue.newAttributeValue
    (endDate));
         Search ifsSearch = searchUtils.createSearch();
         return ifsSearch;
    catch(Exception e)
         e.printStackTrace();
    return null;
    theField should be "createDate"
    I think selection is too simple for what you want to do.

  • When installing Firefox 35 into Windows 7 running inside VMware Fusion on a Mac, into which folder should I put the downloaded Firefox installer file?

    Inside Windows I see a folder called PROGRAM FILES and another one called PROGRAM FILES (X86). Is either of these the correct one to put the Firefox installer program into before I launch the installer? There is also a folder called WINDOWS. Sorry for such an elementary question but I've never been a Windows user; just Macs so far until now. My intention is to download the Windows version of Firefox using a browser on the Mac side of the computer since I have working browsers there. Then I would copy the ".exe" file to whichever Windows folder is correct. Am I on the right track or am I courting disaster?
    Also, will there be a preference inside Firefox to make it the default browser in the Windows environment? I'd like to avoid using Internet Explorer.
    ( I'm writing this from the Firefox browser, v. 28.0 in the Mac OS (10.6.8). I didn't click the "Automatically Add" button for submitting troubleshooting information because I'm not asking about the browser in the Mac OS environment.)
    Thank you.

    The full Windows install file from for instance https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ is an executable dot.exe file.
    It will run from anywhere the user has the correct permissions, incluing the desktop or the downloads folder. It will offer standard or custom installs, usually opt for the standard install and the necessary flies and folders will be created.
