Font with proportional oldstyle not listed in OpenType

Hi everybody. So, I've been working in ID CS6 with a font that definitely has a set of Proportional Oldstyle figures -- I checked, and they're in the glyphs palette -- but it seems like they wasn't tagged as that when the font was created because the OpenType menu says it doesn't have one. Is there any way for me to override this and assign that set of figures to OpenType, or is it just not a font I can use? (I mean, without going through and manually changing every figure in the book.)

See, they aren't listed as alternates, they're just separate glyphs. Originally I thought that was what the problem was -- they don't appear to be tagged as anything. So they exist for the typeface, but they don't show up in any menus, and if I were threading the book, it's looking like I would have to go in and manually change every figure, including page numbers. I can buy an .otf version, but I was hoping to avoid that. So it might just be that I'm trying to use a font for a purpose I shouldn't try to use it for...

If you have Word installed, make a simple PDF from Word that has text set in Tahoma, then print to the 'Adobe PDF' printer. Open the PDF file you just created, then hit Ctrl-D. In the Fonts tab you will see what font the PDF file want to use and what font it actually uses.

Listed Material errors with "Material is not listed therefore not allowed"

Hi Gurus,
When trying to key an order for a customer with a listed material it is being reported as not listed. Other materials listed against the customer are working and have been keyed in via VB01 with a valid date range.
I have been debugging PRICE_LIST_EXCLUSION function which is called during listing validation without success.
Any ideas?

Discovered the issue. A user had keyed in listing incorrectly for the sold to instead of exclusively at the payer level. Deleted these sold to listing entries and resolved the issue.

Group Added With dscl Command Not Listed In Account Prefs

I added groups for each user per article 307128 using the dscl command:
sudo dscl . create /Groups/username GroupMembership username
sudo dscl . change /Groups/username RecordName username _username
But these new groups are not listed by the Account preferences on my new MacBook. They are listed on my iMac G4. Both machines are running 10.5.2. The accounts on the new MacBook were migrated from the iMac.
A dscl list shows that the groups are defined:
sudo dscl . list /Groups
And when I try to add a new group called _username with Account preferences I get an error saying the name is in use.
Any idea how to get Account preferences to show these groups?

ovithucu, in your contacts app, swipe down from the top bezel to Settings.
In the list of "Show Account in Contacts List", turn OFF each account shown, leaving none ON.
Tap the lower left BACK button.
Now, back in the main Contacts view, drag down on the screen to see the total number of contacts, what number is there?
Those are you "Local" contacts, stored locally in the device memory. Those can be cleared if you want, and start all over again.
Also, check your gmail account on a PC, login and see how many contacts you have in gmail which should be sycning to the device.

Emails imported from Entourage2004 with attachments are not listed as having attachments in Mail.app

The attachment is still there. But the attachment column is blank when viewing the list of e-mails. Is there anything I can do to get Mail to display the attachment icon in the listing?
I originally imported the Entourage 2004 emails by grabbing each Entourage folder, dragging it to a folder on my old PowerBook G4, dragging that folder to my external drive, and having Mail import the mailboxes from the external drive to Mail 6.3 ( OSX 10.8.3) on my new Mac Mini. any ideas? DECISION_NOTE is a new element created in the standard decision task as of new releases (Note 1643764)
Once the user fills in the comments, they are saved as SOFM Objectsin DECISION_NOTE (this too is multiline element). All we have to do is bind it back to the workflow container in _ATTACH_OBJECTS.

For the wait step part.... the attachment is added to the mail step via the binding from the workflow...._ATTACH_OBJECTS from Workflow to _ATTACH_OBJECTS of the email task...not sure where you want me to set a wait step. Request you to please elaborate a bit more.

Type fonts to In design not listed in memue

I am unable to find the typeface Neue Hammer Unz.. 1,2, Type 1 and alternates.to us in my Indesign form. It is installed in windows and show up in other programs to use. but not in Indesign and Illistrator. How do i install it in these 2 programs . i have tried numerous times but the error box says that it is installed do I want to over write it

Support for OpenType Font with .otf Extention

Does anyone know how to list a OpenType fone with extention of .otf in Java runing on Windows XP?
When I use GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getAvailableFontFamilyNames(), it doesn't list any font names with .otf extention.

Not every device has every type of font. When you ask for a specific font, and the font doesn't exist then the system will find the best match for it.
The only way to be sure you have a monospace font on every device is that you include that font yourself, and draw your own characters using drawImage() with that font.

BobbyH5280. Very helpful answer! I am XP for the next week on CS6. I did find 3 items that helped. The fonts are in AI, but are listed on the bottom of the list. Also in Edit/Preferences/Type, checking "Show Font Names in English" makes the font list easier to read (doesn't appear to change the sort order though), and (with your suggestion) checking "Sow Asian Options" might do something positive. Thanks to all of you who sent in tips.

How to search for a font not listed in the Fonts window

I'm unable to create a PDF of an older document built by someone who doesn't work here anymore (so I can't ask how they built it). The PDF starts to generate but it takes longer than usual then right before the last page, it stops and I get a log telling me that it can't generate the PDF because of a problem with a Frutiger-Roman font. We don't use that font so I'm not sure where it would be. Also, when I look in the Fonts pod window, it's not listed.
Is there a way to search a document to find a font that isn't listed in the Fonts pod window?

Sounds like it's coming in with an import, which is probably an image, but could also be a text inset.
I've seen this happen with DWG, DXF, EPS and EPSI imports. I'd expect it to be possible with PDF imports, as well as any formatted text inset.
It could even be an empty string. You can't find any text, but the declaration got triggered anyway.
Most image formats that can include fonts can be opened in Adobe Illustrator. You can then Select > Object > Text Objects and see what's there (or not). If AI throws "some objects have been outlined", you've located the offending file for sure.

How to query Opentype fonts with Contextual Alternates

I am using the C++ API for Indesign CS4.
Is there a specific way to query Opentype fonts with contextual alternatives? The method that I use right now results in special reserved characters being outputted. It works however, for other Opentype fonts that do not use contextual alternatives. I am wondering if this is due to me not querying the right object or possibly something I am doing with the text's encoding.

I tried to use the AFDKO's CFFChecker program, but i get the following error each time I want to run it:
"File "F:\Tools\AFDK\FDK1.6-Win4\Tools\Programs\tx\exe\CFFChecker.py", line 46, in ?

ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module can not be found."
What does the error mean? I followed the installation instructions, I repeated the installation process but it did not work. What else can I do?...

Our company uses SCCM 2007 and we don't really have an SCCM officer here. I kind of try to get things done by googling a lot but for this i can't find a a solution so i open a thread.
I'm a newbie to SCCM 2007 so I don't know if i'm about to ask a dumb question but here I go.
I'm trying to pull out a report for the count of computers that run a desktop version of our Ticketing Tool.
I found the perfect standard report for this in SCCM 2007 which is: Count of instances of specific software registered with Add or Remove Programs.
in there i have to set two values: 1) the software that i'm willing to count, 2) the collection in which to search.
for value number 2 I have no problems.
my problem is in value number 1. When I click the value button to list all known software, he lists all software in a alphabetic way. problem is that it stops at letter "I"... the software i'm looking for starts with an O so it's not listed.
also if I type the software and then click Values... it replies that it couldn't find the software.
am I doing something wrong?

it sound like you are using the filter option with in the old and "crappy" ASP reports. first you should stop using then and only use the SSRS reports. secondly the filter option will only show the first 1000 rows, there is a reg key to
allow it to show more.

Battery fails in X61 with FRU not listed in the recall list

The day before when my x61 battery went down to about 5%, I closed the cover to let the it sleep. After a while, when I want to charge back the battery, the light becomes yellow and keeps twinkling. The power manager says:"The battery has failed due to normal wear. The battery can not be charged. Replace the battery."
I doubt this battery failure is due to the product design, since I have not done any thing vital. I checked the website from Lenovo and found out there is a problem on x61 battery and now lenovo is recalling the battery. But unfortunately, my FRU is 42T4506 which is not listed in the recall list. I just called the customer service guy to ask if I can get the same service, but that guy is not polite at all and do NOT want to explain to me any thing but let me order a new battery. A new battery is toooooo expensive. I feel really bad on this situation and come here for help.

I am facing this issue, after upgrading the system from Windows 2012 to Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter. I have tried un-installing and re-installing the roles (RDS) multiple times, but still the sysprep'ed VMs are not listed.
I even tried creating a new fresh VM from the start and syspred'ed using the command line options, but still the VM is not getting listed.
One more observance is that, the 'RD Virtualization Host Server' displays the 'No of Virtual desktops' as '0' even though I have more than 50 VMs on Hyper-V. (It is not even showing the value as 1 for the new VM created).
I have all the roles (Web Access, Connection Broker, RDMS and Virtualization Host) installed on the same server.
Windows 7 Professional edition is used to create a VM, and the sysprep command works only with the below command line arguments.
sysprep.exe /generalize /oobe /shutdown
Please kindly help to resolve on the issue.

It seems that this problem is happening everywhere not just Arabian gulf companies! I've done some research and I've seen posts and blogs complaining about the same issue.
I've spoken to apple care representatives and was escalated to a supervisor who advised that apple is well swear of the issue and that they expect an update with in one to two weeks from now that hopefully will address the problem.
Mean while, I've tried restoring twice but I've used the same update that I've downloaded from iTunes. Sadly no good results. However I've read somewhere two points:
1. That if you down load the iOS 5 manually from a different source and use that to RESTORE your device to iOS 5 that this will resolve the issue.
2. Some friend tell me that apple made a statement to their customers to wait at least one week before downloading and updating to iOS 5
Im going to try the two approaches and see what happens.
