For (var j in PMItms)

Hello,
Can anyone please tell me what the following code means and/or does:
for (var j in PMItms)
Is it something like:
for (var i=1; i<=16; i++) {
     //some code
Please explain the difference or direct me to a website that can explain what "for(var j in PMItms)" does.
Thanks in advance
Linda

The for/in statement is a way to loop through the properties of an object (including an array). In your example, PMItms is the object and j is a variable that will be assigned the value of the property for each iteration.

  • Questions on "FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs"

    Hi,
I just got through the FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs, but have some further questions:
For me it is not quite clear which connections are necessary for which VAR scenrio.. currently we have setup the service desk in our solman. Customer's aren't linked to the solman yet - we have saprouter-saprouter connections. Connecting them via SAP support backbone is an interesting option, especially for incident management. To get this working we should follow note 1124718 right?
But what about the other scenarios like maintenance optimizer and ewa monitoring? I guess for that we definitly need to build up RFC connections to each relevant customer system (~300+x)?! I think it will be hard to handle so many connections - just consider if a customer is cancalling the maintenance contract, everything needs to be removed again... best would be to have a central communication point...
For MOPZ we need up-to-date system information. So everyone is talking about SLD. Do you also recommend this option? There we need again a connection (direct to SolMan SLD or via external SLD on customer side).
According to the FAQ there is a workaround for ewa monitoring for customers with security doubts.. is this also working for non-ABAP components? We need SMD and WI for generating ewas for JAVA systems...
With regards to Enterprise Support contract: ewa only need to be monitored for productive systems? Can a customer be charged if they want to have ewas monitored for other sytems too? How long do we need to keep the ewas (1 month, 3 months, half year) before they are deleted? Are there any specific requirements?
All the work to get these scenarios working.. is this covered within the Enterprise Support contract? Can the customer be charged for work thats done by the VAR in their system (e.g. RFC connections, SDCCN, SLD,...)?
Sorry for this long text.. hope you have some helpful ideas!
    Regards,
    Richard

    Hello Richard,
    (1) regarding network connections see document [Draft:Technical Support Network Connections for VAR Scenario|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089947&_OBJECT=011000358700000880802009E] as overview and with a lot of detailed information.
    (2) yes, you have to setup once all your customer connections at the beginning but then only add/remove with customer contract changes
    (3) the workaround by sending by email can handled a anexception. EWA has to be done for productive systems like nowadays done by SAP. Additional EWA services could meas additional business case for a VAR - that's contract between VAR and customer.
    (4) whatever you think may be a business to sell - do it ! (and get a monetary bonus from your boss

what is the correct pid for slapd?
my os x did not come with slapd.pid so I'm

know what I'm supposed to use.
When slapd is running it saves its pid in the file /var/run/slapd.pid
This allows other processes to find its pid to use to communicate with it.
You do not need to create this file.
also any one know the correct entry for
    /var/run/slapd.args?
Similar to above, this is created by slapd. You don't need to worry about it.
The better question is why is slapd not running (assuming your machine is set up to be an OD Master).

    Hi Experts,
I got the error "cannot find real path for '/var/install/Client/DATA_UNITS/HDB_CLIENT_LINUX_X86_64/../install/sdbrun': No such file or directory" and "Error during execution of HdbCmdClazz section!" during SAP NW 740 HANA installation. I specified the right path for HDB client (see in attachment).
    Any ideas, please?
    Thanks & best regards,
    Sreenu

The service file is in $srcdir, not $_svnmod/builders/cmake.
You're using an outdated PKGBUILD template too. The svn source should be included in the source array and not checked out manually during the build process.
EDIT: since this repository requires authentication, perhaps the correct format won't work.

  • Disk mount for /var

    Hi All:
We're running the Sun Application Server, Sun Access Manager and Sun Portal on Solaris 9 and I was hoping someone could answer whether or not we could use the automounter and mount the space /var/opt into another directory without blowing up the jes.
The existing partition for /var is quite small but we have plenty of room in /export/home/ and /opt/local where we could easily have sufficient room for the JES stack. We did not realize that portlets and other applications in the JES would want to install themselves into /var/opt. Any ideas if this works or does not work? Am I going to have to reinstall solaris to give /var a bigger slice of disk?
    Thanks

  • Reiser4 filesystem for /var: Is it stable enough?

I've read horror stories about the new reiser4 filesystem, where users have encountered significant data loss, alongside others who have used it for quite some time without issues.  So I thought I'd start this thread to spark a little discussion about if this new filesystem is mature and robust enough to actually use on a regular basis.  I plan on replacing my reiserfs-formatted /var partition with reiser4 if you guys think it's a worthwhile feat.  If it isn't ... well ... I know what y'all have to say about the importance of keeping a clean /var/lib/pacman/local ...
BTW - I thought I would also mention that I split up my drive into many partitions like a more "traditional" linux OS, using ext2 for /boot, ext3 for /home (so windows ext3 drivers can r/w), reiserfs for /var, and ext4 for /, and the advantages are awesome.  It's lovely to have access to my files in windows (especially /boot/grub/menu.lst), and the response time with pacman is very noticable!  I can run circles around my Pentium 4 machine that I have yet to convert, and this machine is a 1 GHz P3 mobile-based laptop with an IDE disk, wooo

  • Service Desk for VAR - RFC Connections to customers

    Hi all,
I'm trying to implement Service Desk for a VAR provider, however, I didn't found until now how to connect customer systems to Solution Manager in the VAR provider site.
I was able to create systems in SMSY automatically, as the Business partners and OSS users, but in SMSY the system has no Client (000,100,800) assigned and could not get it as no read RFC for system is maintained. Should this RFC be created using SAPSERV connection via marketplace (automatically or not) or using a simple direct SAPRouter connection to customer? anyone know how can I proceed or know some online documentation available?
Manually maintain this connections could be very anoing as we have a lot of customers and systems.
Thanks in advance for you help.
    Best Regards
    Pedro Rodrigues

    Hi Pedro,
normaly you don't need those RFCs as a VAR, that's right. With the new note 1320545 you also get product versions updated from OSS into SMSY. However if you require all patch levels of your customers in SMSY to do MOPZ you need RFC or SLD connection. You can generate RFCs connections from the SMSY system client screen for ABAP instances. There is a button "Router information" where you can maintain your and your customer's SAProuter IP adresses. These will be included in the routstrings of the generated destinations. Of course this must be done manually for each customer system because SAP suport Portal doesn't know your customers passwords and routers.

  • Adding a second Hard Drive for /var and /opt

I need some help... I have an Ultra 60 with 1 36 Gig drive, Solaris 10 with Java DeskTop. I want to add a 9 Gig drive to extend /var and /opt. Below is the data on the disk (format). My question is: How do I set this disk up so the /var and the /opt can extend into the new drive and then mount the drive. I am NOT a guru on setting up HD's and have read the Solaris admin book part to help me along, I am very lost. When I installed Solaris 10 I gave the /var 15 megs. It seems Solaris 10 patch manager wants to install all the patches in /var/sadm/patch thus I am eating up the 15 megs fast. What I need to know is just how to set up the below drive... HELP!

Here's another idea: use Live Upgrade. I'll assume your "new" 9G disk is on /dev/dsk/c0t1d0. Use format to partition the disk with one partition, /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0. Don't mount the new parititon. Use Live Upgrade lucreate to put the boot environment on the new partition:
    lucreate -c be1 -n be2 -m /:/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0:ufs(You can probably come up with more useful names than "be1" and "be2"!)
lucreate will copy over all your existing root, /usr/, /var to the new disk. This will take a while, but you can continue using your system while it runs (no need to be in single user mode.) When it's done, use luactivate to make the new boot environment active and boot it.
This gives you a system with everything in one partition. If you want to stick with different partitions for the different systems, lucreate can do that too, see the man page and docs. I think it's more trouble than it's worth for a single-user/desktop type system.
Once you're up on the new disk, you can look into repartitioning the old disk to get you a similar-size partition to use as a spare boot environment, and you can start using Live Upgrade for what it was designed for: letting you upgrade without taking the system down.

  • Package question - what are the uses for  /var/sadm/pkg ?

I'm writing packages and noticed once a packages is installed using pkgadd, that files and dirs are created in the /var/sadm/pkg directory. I'm specificly intereseted in the pkginfo file - it contains all the variables from my request script and their values. My question is what are all the uses for this file?
I've noticed that pkginfo reads from it but would there be any problem deleting certain lines from that file (lines not used by pkginfo - just variables used in the request script that I'd really rather not have floating around in a publicly accessable file).
    thanks!
    Bob

I'm refering specificly to the file "/var/sadm/pkg/<pkgName>/pkginfo" - it's created during pkgadd and contains all the variable-value pairs from the packages pkginfo file as well as any variables used in the request script and copied to it's temporary response file. I'm not refering to the pkginfo file that you create as a package infofile component.
I want to remove, from the /var/sadm/pkg/<pkgName>/pkginfo file, certain var-value pairs that were used in my request scripts (not part of the InfoFile/pkginfo component). Otherwise, any user can look at this file or run 'pkgparam <pkgName>' and get that sensative info.
To the best of my knowledge, this file is only used by the commands pkgparam and pkginfo. Are there other uses?
    My worries are:
-is it OK to remove lines manually during the postinstall script?
-will doing this cause problems with any admin or package maintenance functions?
    Thanks-
    Bob

  • No uninitialized partition for /var but I went on anyways

In case anyone makes the same mistake as I did and added the old /var volume back into the new 1.1 VM, this is how you fix it if you told it to keep the /var on the root partition:
(You can do all of this while the VM is running, at least on VMWare)
    - Remove old /var disk.
    - Create a new disk for the /var volume.
    - Log in to the console as root (not ssh)
What you need to know at this point:
When looking at the device nodes for the virtual disks, 0:0 will be /dev/sda, 0:1 will be /dev/sdb and 0:2 will be /dev/sdc.
The order for devices will be 2:1, where the lowest number is always /dev/sda, which tends to be 0:0, so 0:0 (sda) 0:1 (sdb) 1:0 (sdc), the first number is the controller number and the 2nd the disk number.
You can *probably* also check the 'dmsg' output and the new drive will be at the bottom.
Replace 'sdc' with your var drive identifier.
    As root:
    # fdisk /dev/sdc
Type p just to check if there are no partitions on the drive and you picked the right one.
Type n to create a new partition, make it a primary partition with nr 1, accept the default values and it should work.
exit fdisk by typing w (save and quit)
Now we need to format the new partition:
    # mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdc1
(could also make it ext4 but everything else seems to be ext3)
Now comes the trickery to change the var folder around with a mount point.
First we switch to runlevel 1.
    # init 1
This will stop most of the services and it will ask for a root pw.
Now we mount the new drive and copy everything over, move the old var out of the way and mount the new drive in its place.
    # mkdir /mnt/var
    # mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/var
    # cd /var
    # cp -ax * /mnt/var
    # cd /
    # mv var var.old
    # mkdir /var
    # umount /mnt/var
    # mount /dev/sdc1 /var
    # ll /var (just to check)
    # vi /etc/fstab (or whichever editor you're comfortable with)
Obviously we want to mount the volume again on reboot, so add the following line to your fstab:
    /dev/sdc1 /var ext3 rw 0 0
Save and exit and reboot the appliance and you're done.
Obviously it's better to add the new disk *before* starting the vm for the first time but I missed that part in the documentation :-)
    Hope this'll help someone else.

If you only deleted the device from the page (an did not wipe/erase it) it will reappear if it connects to the internet before the person restored it or tyrned off the Find feature. See:

  • RCA for VAR

    Hello Gurus
I have an issue I hope you can help me with.
My company is a VAR for SAP and we have several customers that we all access using saprouter.
Now I want to setup RCA for these customers.
I have installed the agents on client side.
To get the systems in SLD (and SMSY/LMDB) I try to use the default tools.
So for registering ABAP-stack I use transaction RZ70.
The direct connection fails but after altering the RFC SLD_UC by adding the saprouterstring the system registers.
Now I try to do the same for the J2EE-instance.
I go to the visual administrator and look for the SLD Data Supplier service.
Here's my issue, I can't add the routerstring to these settings.
    So registering fails.
I expect similar issues when I have to connect the agents to Solution Manager and Wily EM.
How can I set this up?
    Regards,
    David

  • BEx Variable I_Step 2, Custom Exit, IF Condition fail for "var ready Inp"

    Hi all,
could someone please help with the following issue.
    Variable definition is as followed.
    processing type = Customer Exit
in the Details Tab I chose "Multiple Singles"
    and variable as "Optional"
and "Variable is ready for Input".
objective is, once the user enter fiscperiod like 004.2011, in the customer exit, using my own logic I would need to derive some set of periods and send back to query.
In code, I am doing a check of I_STEP =2, then do the loop on the i_t_var_range, then capture the "LOW" value, then use my own logic to derive my own fiscperiods, then append the e_t_range, then Endif.
when I debug, control is going to IF condition, but I see that I_step contained "1" not 2 as expected, that's where the condition is failing, and control is skipping the whole block of the code inside the If condition.
this is giving me an impression that, the definition of the variable has some problem.
    Any Insights are greatly appreciated.

I guess you need to use 2 variable.
Var1 will store the value of user entered fiscal year period and then. this is normal Variable and is ready for Input".
Var2 to will read that value of Var1 -
then you write your logic -
    to populate Var2 correctly.
And use Var2 in your query.
Note : Var2 is not ready for input, and its exit variable
