RCA for VAR

Hello Gurus
I have an issue I hope you can help me with.
My company is a VAR for SAP and we have several customers that we all access using saprouter.
Now I want to setup RCA for these customers.
I have installed the agents on client side.
To get the systems in SLD (and SMSY/LMDB) I try to use the default tools.
So for registering ABAP-stack I use transaction RZ70.
The direct connection fails but after altering the RFC SLD_UC by adding the saprouterstring the system registers.
Now I try to do the same for the J2EE-instance.
I go to the visual administrator and look for the SLD Data Supplier service.
Here's my issue, I can't add the routerstring to these settings.
So registering fails.
I expect similar issues when I have to connect the agents to Solution Manager and Wily EM.
How can I set this up?
Regards,
David

  • Questions on "FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs"

    Hi,
I just got through the FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs, but have some further questions:
For me it is not quite clear which connections are necessary for which VAR scenrio.. currently we have setup the service desk in our solman. Customer's aren't linked to the solman yet - we have saprouter-saprouter connections. Connecting them via SAP support backbone is an interesting option, especially for incident management. To get this working we should follow note 1124718 right?
But what about the other scenarios like maintenance optimizer and ewa monitoring? I guess for that we definitly need to build up RFC connections to each relevant customer system (~300+x)?! I think it will be hard to handle so many connections - just consider if a customer is cancalling the maintenance contract, everything needs to be removed again... best would be to have a central communication point...
For MOPZ we need up-to-date system information. So everyone is talking about SLD. Do you also recommend this option? There we need again a connection (direct to SolMan SLD or via external SLD on customer side).
According to the FAQ there is a workaround for ewa monitoring for customers with security doubts.. is this also working for non-ABAP components? We need SMD and WI for generating ewas for JAVA systems...
With regards to Enterprise Support contract: ewa only need to be monitored for productive systems? Can a customer be charged if they want to have ewas monitored for other sytems too? How long do we need to keep the ewas (1 month, 3 months, half year) before they are deleted? Are there any specific requirements?
All the work to get these scenarios working.. is this covered within the Enterprise Support contract? Can the customer be charged for work thats done by the VAR in their system (e.g. RFC connections, SDCCN, SLD,...)?
Sorry for this long text.. hope you have some helpful ideas!
    Regards,
    Richard

    Hello Richard,
    (1) regarding network connections see document [Draft:Technical Support Network Connections for VAR Scenario|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089947&_OBJECT=011000358700000880802009E] as overview and with a lot of detailed information.
    (2) yes, you have to setup once all your customer connections at the beginning but then only add/remove with customer contract changes
    (3) the workaround by sending by email can handled a anexception. EWA has to be done for productive systems like nowadays done by SAP. Additional EWA services could meas additional business case for a VAR - that's contract between VAR and customer.

  • Just need 1/8 inch to RCA for digital coax out with audigy se right?

DJust need /8 inch to RCA for digital coax out with audigy se right? Hi there,
I need a low profile soundcard that can deli'ver digital 5. through either coax or optical, looks like the audigy se will do just that. I have a yamaha receiver with DTS, DD, etc with a coax input that I want to use. I want to confirm that all I really need is a cable that has an /8 inch plug for the blue digital out on the soundcard with an RCA end for my receiver.... sounds simple enough to me but I want to make sure. I know I can get the digital I/O module but don't see a point if I just need the cable I mentioned.
    Thanks.

Let's take Battlefield 242 for example. The game will not allow me to specify hardware sound.
That would be because that card DOES NOT have any hardware on it, it is a totally software dri'ven card.
And yes your old Li've card is much better than the Audigy SE. The Audigy SE is nothing more than a re-named SB Li've 24 bit, which is also a software based card (same applies to the X-Fi Xtreme Audio, a POS card that should have never been given the X-Fi name).

When slapd is running it saves its pid in the file /var/run/slapd.pid
This allows other processes to find its pid to use to communicate with it.
You do not need to create this file.
also any one know the correct entry for
    /var/run/slapd.args?
Similar to above, this is created by slapd. You don't need to worry about it.
The better question is why is slapd not running (assuming your machine is set up to be an OD Master).

  • For (var j in PMItms)

    Hello,
Can anyone please tell me what the following code means and/or does:
    for (var j in PMItms)
    Is it something like:
    for (var i=1; i<=16; i++) {
         //some code
Please explain the difference or direct me to a website that can explain what "for(var j in PMItms)" does.
    Thanks in advance
    Linda

The for/in statement is a way to loop through the properties of an object (including an array). In your example, PMItms is the object and j is a variable that will be assigned the value of the property for each iteration.

    Hi Experts,
I got the error "cannot find real path for '/var/install/Client/DATA_UNITS/HDB_CLIENT_LINUX_X86_64/../install/sdbrun': No such file or directory" and "Error during execution of HdbCmdClazz section!" during SAP NW 740 HANA installation. The service file is in $srcdir, not $_svnmod/builders/cmake.
You're using an outdated PKGBUILD template too. The svn source should be included in the source array and not checked out manually during the build process.
EDIT: since this repository requires authentication, perhaps the correct format won't work.

  • Disk mount for /var

    Hi All:
We're running the Sun Application Server, Sun Access Manager and Sun Portal on Solaris 9 and I was hoping someone could answer whether or not we could use the automounter and mount the space /var/opt into another directory without blowing up the jes.
The existing partition for /var is quite small but we have plenty of room in /export/home/ and /opt/local where we could easily have sufficient room for the JES stack. We did not realize that portlets and other applications in the JES would want to install themselves into /var/opt. Any ideas if this works or does not work? Am I going to have to reinstall solaris to give /var a bigger slice of disk?
    Thanks

  • Reiser4 filesystem for /var: Is it stable enough?

I've read horror stories about the new reiser4 filesystem, where users have encountered significant data loss, alongside others who have used it for quite some time without issues.  So I thought I'd start this thread to spark a little discussion about if this new filesystem is mature and robust enough to actually use on a regular basis.  I plan on replacing my reiserfs-formatted /var partition with reiser4 if you guys think it's a worthwhile feat.  If it isn't ... well ... I know what y'all have to say about the importance of keeping a clean /var/lib/pacman/local ...
BTW - I thought I would also mention that I split up my drive into many partitions like a more "traditional" linux OS, using ext2 for /boot, ext3 for /home (so windows ext3 drivers can r/w), reiserfs for /var, and ext4 for /, and the advantages are awesome.  It's lovely to have access to my files in windows (especially /boot/grub/menu.lst), and the response time with pacman is very noticable!  I can run circles around my Pentium 4 machine that I have yet to convert, and this machine is a 1 GHz P3 mobile-based laptop with an IDE disk, wooo

  • Service Desk for VAR - RFC Connections to customers

    Hi all,
I'm trying to implement Service Desk for a VAR provider, however, I didn't found until now how to connect customer systems to Solution Manager in the VAR provider site.
I was able to create systems in SMSY automatically, as the Business partners and OSS users, but in SMSY the system has no Client (000,100,800) assigned and could not get it as no read RFC for system is maintained. Should this RFC be created using SAPSERV connection via marketplace (automatically or not) or using a simple direct SAPRouter connection to customer? anyone know how can I proceed or know some online documentation available?
Manually maintain this connections could be very anoing as we have a lot of customers and systems.
Thanks in advance for you help.
    Best Regards
    Pedro Rodrigues

    Hi Pedro,
normaly you don't need those RFCs as a VAR, that's right. With the new note 1320545 you also get product versions updated from OSS into SMSY. However if you require all patch levels of your customers in SMSY to do MOPZ you need RFC or SLD connection. You can generate RFCs connections from the SMSY system client screen for ABAP instances. There is a button "Router information" where you can maintain your and your customer's SAProuter IP adresses. These will be included in the routstrings of the generated destinations. Of course this must be done manually for each customer system because SAP suport Portal doesn't know your customers passwords and routers.

  • Adding a second Hard Drive for /var and /opt

I need some help... I have an Ultra 60 with 1 36 Gig drive, Solaris 10 with Java DeskTop. I want to add a 9 Gig drive to extend /var and /opt. Below is the data on the disk (format). My question is: How do I set this disk up so the /var and the /opt can extend into the new drive and then mount the drive. I am NOT a guru on setting up HD's and have read the Solaris admin book part to help me along, I am very lost. When I installed Solaris 10 I gave the /var 15 megs. It seems Solaris 10 patch manager wants to install all the patches in /var/sadm/patch thus I am eating up the 15 megs fast. What I need to know is just how to set up the below drive... HELP!

Here's another idea: use Live Upgrade. I'll assume your "new" 9G disk is on /dev/dsk/c0t1d0. Use format to partition the disk with one partition, /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0. Don't mount the new parititon. Use Live Upgrade lucreate to put the boot environment on the new partition:
    lucreate -c be1 -n be2 -m /:/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0:ufs(You can probably come up with more useful names than "be1" and "be2"!)
lucreate will copy over all your existing root, /usr/, /var to the new disk. This will take a while, but you can continue using your system while it runs (no need to be in single user mode.) When it's done, use luactivate to make the new boot environment active and boot it.
This gives you a system with everything in one partition. If you want to stick with different partitions for the different systems, lucreate can do that too, see the man page and docs. I think it's more trouble than it's worth for a single-user/desktop type system.
Once you're up on the new disk, you can look into repartitioning the old disk to get you a similar-size partition to use as a spare boot environment, and you can start using Live Upgrade for what it was designed for: letting you upgrade without taking the system down.
