Forecast Approach parameters disappear

When you create a forecast, you can choose a Forecast Method in the General tab. If you choose anything other than Automatic, then on the Advanced tab you need to set the Forecast Approach to Manual (it is Automatic by default). I've done this lots of time, but now for no apparent reason I've lost the drop-down window that would let me change from Automatic to Manual.
Anyone else have this experience? Any ideas on what causes it? Or how to work around it?
Many thanks.
Gary

Just to put closure on this thread in case someone else experiences a similar problem.
I still don't know the cause of the problem, but I have figured out how to avoid it.
I had created an analytic workspace with about 10 cubes and up to 9 dimensions in each (max # of values in any one dimension was only 200) Most of the cubes were used only for testing purposes. When I deleted these test cubes, the drop-down windows in the Advanced Settings of forecasts again appeared.

  • Sharepoint 2010 Report viewer Parameters disappear after selected

    Hi,
I have Sharepoint 2010 installed and pointing to a different SQL Server 2012 in Sharepoint integrated mode.
In Sharepoint if I create a new report using report builder or if I add one from reporting services server, when I execute it, it shows the parameters on the right side. When I open the list the values are ok, then if I select one of them the page do a postback
and the selected parameter value disappears and I can never run the report because if I hit Apply it gives an error saying that the parameter is not set.
If I change the report and set default value for each parameter it works well. I can change the parameters and they work great, but I don't want to set the default values and let the user choose them.
Sharepoint server is SQL Server 2012 version 11.0.3368.0
Reporting server is SQL Server 2012 11.0.3000.0
Can anybody help me with this issue?
    Thanks

  • Prompts parameters disappear when reschedule a instance from history

    Dear All,
In BI 4.1 launch pad, when I reshceudle a report using an instance from the history, the prompt values given for that instances disappear for all prompts and need to enter all the parameters again. This happens only when I click the prompt icon on the schedule window, otherwise the parameters are retained and the report can be scheduled with the previous given parameters.
As a result, I have to run either with previuos selected parameters or need to input all prompts again, no way to change only certain prompts and keep the previous parameters for the rest.
In XI 3.1, the prompt parameters will be retained of that instance during reschedule and we can change certain prompts parameters as per our requirement and rest we can leave with the previuos parameters.
Is this the funcitonality or bug or any settings available to retain the prompt inputs.
    Regards,
    Ravi

"This happens only when I click the prompt icon on the schedule window, otherwise the parameters are retained and the report can be scheduled with the previous given parameters"
I test a WebI report with prompt on a BI4.1 SP05, and the Prompt's values are retained when reschedule and modify the Prompt. Can you check your BI4.x production version and let us know if this problem is replicated on your BI4.1 SP05 or above? Regards, Jin-Chong

  • Parameters disappear when trying to run a workbook in Discoverer Viewer

Please help! We have a number of workbooks that were working previously, but have started exhibiting this strange behavior for certain users. They go to Discoverer Viewer, select the desired worksheet, and enter their parameters. When they hit Go, the form immediately resets; no results are returned, and all of the parameter fields are cleared. Can anyone tell me what's going on?
    -Dave

    Hi Dave,
I had a similar issue awhile back. It was related to the item class for the input parameter. The item class was being built off a table that the user was not given access to. This was in a data warehouse environment. Maybe, it's just a matter of granting access to the table for the user.

  • Dynamic parameters for concurrent programs

    All
Is there any way to add/remove concurrent program's parameters dynamically. If the concurrent program's parameter p1 has a value v1, parameter p2 should get displayed. If parameter p1 has a value v2, parameter p3 should get displayed and parameter p2 should get hidden and disabled. New parameters (p2 or p3) should allow the user to enter free text.
I reviewed the usage of :$FLEX$ and value sets to achieve this requirement. However, this approach grays out the unwanted parameters (parameters still gets displayed) and the new parameters (p2 or p3) become an LOV instead of allowing the user to enter free text.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I don't think it's possible to make the parameters disappear. All you can do is to gray out them so that the user cannot enter any value (that is what you've already done). About allowing the user to enter a free text, you simply need to use a value set that is not validated (Validation Type = None). You can create a new one or you can use the ones already existing in the EBS, like '30 Characters', '120 Characters', ...
    Hope it helps.
    Regards.

    Hi Jose,
you don't give us any further explanation about how is customized your forecast function, the conditions, what kind of forecast, which parameters you activated and which not and what you have in your level etc ... Honestly I really cannot imagine what's happening and also I think other people in the forum (maybe). If you give further explanation I am sure that somebody will answer.
Did you first of all tried to make an analysys and to see what is the difference betweeen the datas of wedsnday and the next day ? I think this is a very good starting point to see the difference, and if there is a difference.
So at least try to make a query that will tell you : "on wednsday I forecast on this group of datas and on thursday I did a forecast on data of wednsday plus some delta group of datas coming from thursday, What can be wrong if wrong in this further datas ?"
    Let us know

    Hi
how do you let your user log in from your page ?
It's easy to write you own login form instead of the seeded one and give the p_back_url the correct value including the parameters of the current page (retrieved via javascript for instance)

  • Get XML Output and parameters

I'm using Oracle BI Publisher 11.1.1.3.0 and I've created a Dataset with several parameters. (6 to be precise) I'm using the "Get XML Output" button to generate my sample data...
Without the parameters all is good... but when I add parameters... the parameters line up from left to right three of my parameters "disappears" to the right and even more importantly the "Run" & "Return" buttons disappear and I cannot access them.
I feel like I'm missing something simple... but I just can't find it. How can I get those parameters to line up some other way?
(Let me specify once again that I am ONLY in the Dataset area, not the report area)
    Thanks in advance

Look... this seems like a serious problem...
I cannot generate the sample data when I add more than 3 parameters (Type Menu with a LOV) ....
I cannot generate sample data, the parameters do not appear on the report...
The Run button is off screen and there are no scroll bars...
I am in the data model area only... NOT the report are and I have NO way of seeing the parameters that are off screen or even accessing the Run & Return button or the "Save sample data"
    What is going on?

  • Keep in URL parameters shopid and language

We use B2C ISA 5.0. When we use parameters like ?shopid=XXXXXX&language=en to log into B2C, these parameters disappear from the URL. How can we keep in the URL these parameters for the session in Explorer.
    Regards,

These initial parameters are used to navigate the application at the start of the program. However, they are not retained in the URL parameter. However, the Shop Id and Language are derivable parameters from objects available in UserSessionData. UserSessionData is an object available in session context and hence can be accessed from any action class or JSP.

whats the difference between these methods
    Regards
    Raju

    Hi Raju,
Take a look of the SAP documentation. Here you have the detail of what the Auto Model Sel 2 is doing:
Automatic Model Selection Procedure 2 - Univariate Forecasting - SAP Library
Anyway, maybe because I don't understand exactly what the system is doing or maybe because I have found inconsistencies, I would not use the automatic model selection models in APO DP.
Take a look of these articles talking about some inconsistencies:
Getting Best Fit to Work in SAP? - Demand Planning
Best Fit Forecasting in SAP DP - SAP Planning
As you can see in the first article, Auto Model Sel 2 uses to copy the data.
If you are trying to identify the model, take a look of the Sales Pattern, then run different methods, play with the parameters (alpha, beta, gamma) and determined what should be the model and the set of parameters base on the MAPE.
For ex-post method (constant), you can read this article:
APO DP - Forecast Model Parameters: First-Order Exponential Smoothing
Looking at the SAP help documentation you can see the difference between Ex-post and Median methods:
Ex-Post Forecast - Univariate Forecasting - SAP Library
Median Method - Univariate Forecasting - SAP Library

  • Forecasting Strategy feasibility.

    Hi All,
I need to check feasibility of one particular scenario.
I have 100 Materials for which I need to Forecast. I need to calculate best Forecast strategy for all Material with calculation of Forecasting Error.
Correct me if I am wrong: We can get the Best Forecasting Strategy by adding all the Univariate Profile with different Forecasting Strategy in the Composite Profile Tab.
    Now my requirement:
    1. I have 100 SKUs. Each individual SKU has different historical data. Now I cant run Univariate Profile for each individual SKU separately and also run the Composite Profile to find out the best Forecast.  I need to find is there a way to run the Forecasting Strategy for all SKUs separately something like mass run together?
To be very precises i need to run Forecast Strategy for all 100 SKUs for their individuals Historical Data simultaneously.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,
    Bhaskar

To comment on the statement: If you are looking at performance at Go-Live you might be better off with Auto 1. Auto 2 takes more time
some more ideas if you want to explore them
your final solution will depend on the weightage of the performance of the forecast run vs the accuracy of it
If you are focussing on the performance use Auto 1 during go live. It will definitely be faster.
If you are looking at accuracy go for Auto 2
You also dont have to use a one-size- fits-all  solution for the million CVCs.
Also your forecasting level will make a difference. You might notice dont have to forecast at the most detailed level or for all the million CVCs all the time. Check if all the characteristic levels are pertinent to your forecasting.
You can also forecast at a aggregate level depending on the product characteristics. epending on the business you should look whether a top-down forecasting approach can be adopted vs a bottom-up approach that you are looking at. You can use KF disaggregation to let the forecast take its proportions
You need to be able to group your products at least into 2. You might also use the other characteristics to group these
    examples of Group 1:
Critical Products were forecast accuracy matters
    Products with Trend, Seasonality
Products which will have an immediate visible effect post go-live
    High value products
Regions where not going out-of-stock might be important
use Auto 2 on Group 1
    Group 2:
    Rest of the products
    Use Auto 1

  • Master Pages: how to achieve more advanced layouts?

I've wrapped my head around Master Pages in the past few weeks, but now that I'm trying to get more advanced with layout options, my goals seem to beyond any resources I can find to give me guidance. What I want to achieve is pretty simple. I'm trying to benchmark some of the design that I like from Adobe Help. Here are four things I want to achieve, with the following link as a visual reference:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS0165E923-AD7A-4695-85C8-C6E7AB841171.html# WS2D5E01D8-46F3-4993-937C-2F1D2910E43D
    1. How can I place the topic title at the top of the page, as it appears in the link above (e.g. "Master Pages" that appears below breadcrumbs). Is there anything in RH like the variables or building blocks in FM (e.g.  <$chapnum>) that would allow me to insert it in HTML view or use some similar method?
    2. I would like to adjust the indentation of my Topic TOC, but without bullets or numbering. If you choose "No List Style" in the "Format Placeholder" dialogue box, the options to adjust Indent and Spacing parameters disappear. Is there any workaround that you know of?
    3. Is there a way to create pop-up links or interactive functionality like the "Was this helpful button.?" in the link example above? Can I just tinker around in the code view using HTML, CSS, and js to achieve results similar to this example? I would like to create some type of feedback mechanism for our users.
    4.  I've managed to emulate some of the borders or lines on my master page by inserting HTML in HTML view. But I wonder if there is a compelling reason to instead manage this in CSS? Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Douglas

The topic title is normally at the top of the page. If you mean you want the breadcrumbs above it, then add a placeholder for the breadcrumbs in the header of the master page associated with the topic, then the title will drop down below that.
Put the Topic TOC in a table with a narrow first column?
Probably with some scripting. Pass on that one.
If you update a master page linked to a topic, only header and footer updates show. Test that. If it fails, then you have your reason for using CSS.

results.  Now I am having a problem when I changed the WHERE clause it keeps disappearing if I try and make any other change.  Does anyone have advice on working with this tool?  Should one keep a running copy of the query and keep pasting it
back in whenever a change is needed?  Is this behavior not expected?  Is anything different with SSRS 2014?
    Thanks

    Hi billywinter,
According to your description, parameters are wiping out automatically when you change something in query designer.
In Reporting Service, if we use where clause to add parameters in query designer, Define Query Parameters will pop-up when running the query. Please refer to screenshot below:
Regarding the issue, we couldn’t understand it clearly, and we would like to confirm something from you below:
    1. Does parameters disappear in your query? Or when you preview the report, the selected box of parameters doesn’t display?
    2. How about the query in query designer when parameters disappear?
    3. What’s the modification have you performed for where clause? And what’s the result after this modification?
    4. What the query type you are using, MDX query, stored procedure or another query type?
Please provide more information about the issue then we can understand the issue clearly. If possible, please provide some screenshots about the query in query designer, and the results of parameters before and after changing where clause.
In addition, we have found a feedback which descripts an issue about overwriting parameter in MDX query designer, and this issue is resolved by design. Is this issue same as yours? Please refer to this feedback:
MDX Query Designer Overwrites Parameter Queries.

  • Oracle Demand Planning or Demantra?

It seems fairly obvious that if you are starting out an implementation (or even part way through), you would cease implementing Oracle Demand Planning (ODP) and implement Demantra. I have read that all development work was ceased on ODP (even though some new features have been implemented in ODP R12). Further, I have read that there is no simple migration path from ODP to Demantra (due to the very different data structures).
    My questions:
    1. Do you agree with my comment about ceasing the implementation of ODP and resuming with ODP, and if not, why not?
    2. Is there any known migration path between the two products that is supported by Oracle or is a completely new implementation needed?
    3. What are the comparative costs of the two products?
    4. What are the technology stack requirements of the two products? (particulary of Demantra).
    Thanks, as always.

with regards to point 1... demantra is a better tool; it will create better forecast numbers and will provide a much more sophisticated end user experience. however the answer to your question is not always an obvious one.
firstly lets talk about finance and schedule. ceasing an implementation that is costing a large sum of money in favour of a newer product may not be the right course of action. budget alarm bells will start ringing since the delivery schedule will now be off the chart and the costs will only go up. is the implementation required to fix legacy system and data problems? if so there will be groans from the people that need the forecast numbers when they hear that the current inaccuracy will continue because some fabled "even better numbers" will be available somewhat later than promised.
what about stability? odp has it's fair share of problems but it is still much more robust than oracle demantra and depending on factors such as company size, structure, product life-cycle, forecast horizon and methodology demantra may not even provide a better solution. an r12 implementation of odp would survive for a number of years before requiring an upgrade and by then newer and better versions of oracle demantra will be available. there are a lot of customers still using odp and oracle will continue to support them.
don't forget the bigger picture and plan for the future. planning and forecasting solutions need to be flexible - whatever solution you use you should expect that it will need to evolve and part of that evolution should be a product migration. if the planners that are expected to use the new tools and process are not yet skilled at forecasting (maybe they just manipulate numbers in excel based upon weekly meetings?) then the basic approach to skills development might be as follows: start simple, then develop a more sophisticated approach and finally create a sophisticated forecasting solution (this pathway could take years). if you don't yet know the medium or advanced strategy then how can you possibly know which tool is best suited? start simple with odp knowing that in two years when you will want to move to a more advanced forecasting approach your users will understand what they want. at that point you can decide whether to stick or twist.
as for the other questions: 2 is a no. 3 & 4: don't know (sorry)
good luck and let us know what you decide.
