Forecast versions
Hi gurus,
At our client here we are using following procedure:
1) independent requirements are loaded into SAP via MD61 for all materials.
We are using version 02 which should not be active (and therefore not impact production)
We then do a simulation DRP run via MS02 and look again at the requirements in MS04.
2) these net requirements (planned orders) that are created there will be downloaded via a development.
Basically this will be download of the planned orders created in planning scenario 900.
3) These planned orders will then be loaded in another production system to see if capacity can handle this.
4) After adjustments of the independent requirements, these will be loaded again in SAP via MD61 for all materials.
This time we use version 00 which should be active (and relevant for production)
My questions to you are:
- how can I put version 02 inactive (and version 00 as active) as default without unclicking all items in MD61 for version 02?
- What would be the easiest way to download these planned orders the simulation DRP run has created?
A Is there a transaction available for this?
B SQVI (table PLAF)?
C development / query?
thanks for your help!!
Guillaume
Hello Guillaume,
Normally, SAP set "Active" indicator for Version Number depending upon the selection on intial screen of MD61. i.e. You can select / deselect indicator- Active in 'User Paramenters' on initial screen of MD61.
Whereas, SAP by default considers Version-00 as 'Active Version' irrespective what has mentioned on initial screen of MD61.
Easiest way to download the Planned Orders is through Table-PLAF.
Hope this will help.

Edited by: SK Varma Penmatsa on Jan 23, 2012 2:30 PMHi Praveen/Raj,
Basically PCS_PER_PACK is a KF i have in the DSO, which i use to calculate the total number of pieces which i store in a KF in the cube. The transformation rule to calculate TOTAL_PCS is a routine.
within this routine i multiply PACKS * PCS_PER_PACK to calculate the figure. I do not store PCS_PER_PACK in the cube.
is it this rule that you want me to check whether aggregation is set to SUM or overwrite? Also this rule should add up the total pcs. if I say overwrite then it might not give me the desired result?
Thing which i cannot figure out is since the transformation rules go record by record why would it add up the PCS_PER_PACK figure before calculating?
I cannot access the system at the moment. as soon as i can i will check on it and get back to you.
thanks once again for you're quick response to my need.

*How to Delete the Old Forecast Versions from Cube & DSO? *
Hi BI Gurus,
I am currently designing my BI Model to deliver the APO DP requirements.
It would be great if some one can give me an Idea how to achieve the below:
We have a requirement that needs to me maintained the Data as Versions.
1. We are extracting the Data form APO DP planning area and maintaining the Versions based on the Forecast Version in BI. The Forecast Version in BI will hold the Versions in Calmonth format (MMYYYY).
2. Load frequency-- Monthly load for (36 months worth of forecast data)
3. Need to maintain 12 Versions and once we reach the 13th Version (13th load) then we need to delete the 1st Version
4. Data Flow details:
Export DataSource(PSA)> W.O-DSO->CUBE
Your help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Group BIHi Shanthi,
Thanks very much for your reply. But I am not able to understand your reply.
My Requirement is: We load monthly once to Standard DSO and Cube form WO DSO.
|---> Standard DSO
WO-DSO-|
|---> Standard CUBE
We generate the Forecast Version based on the System Date (we take Month to Forecast Version Object).
Example: We started loading form March-2008. We loaded 12 Versions by Feb-2009. When we do the next load which is 13th load, we want to delete the data we loaded on March-2008 from both DSO and CUBE.
Hope this is more clear now.
Once again thanks very much for your help.

CDR in the context of Forecast and forecast version
Can someone please help me understand the term "CDR" in the context of forecast and forecast version? What is the expansion of the term CDR?
Thanks
Kunal.

Edited by: Kunal. on Feb 23, 2012 2:09 PMNo idea of what is CDR ... We have CDP which means characteristic dependent planning.
Maybe CDR is also characterisict dependent somthing? (Just a guess ...)
What's the context do you find this term? -
Delete a Cost Forecast version
All,
I have a CO 'Cost Forecast' version in a development client. It is only flagged for 'Plan'.
It has been used for project forecasting (cj9l).
I want to delete the version. How do I delete the dependent entries before I could delete the version itself?
Appreciate your help.
thanks, Mathavan
Edited by: T.P.R. Mathavan on Apr 22, 2010 4:01 PMtherefore donot varry about the CE, it is okay latest one is valid for your production
i hope you got the point.

Hi Experts,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to do a mass deletion of forecasts. I know that you can do it on an individual basis with MD62 (Change Planned Independent Requirements) , but is there another method?
Thanks in advance!Hi,
the standard way to delete forecasts is MD74 as mentioned above.
If you want to delete forecasts in the future or for a specific period only you also can use MS64. This transaction's intention is not to delete forecasts but it works. The idea is to copy the current forecast version onto itself and setting all forecasts to zero. For the selection this means:
- source version has to be the same as target version
- at 'change target version' you have to insert
Change quantity: 0 = ( do not miss the 0 !!!!!)
so that all values at the target/source version are set to zero.
- set all other parameters like period, mode etc as needed
Of course the forecast are not deleted then, but they are all set to zero what in most cases should be sufficient.

Forecast Roll-Over Script across multiple years
Hello Experts,
I currently have the below Script and Prompt but it only works for one Fiscal year and I need help changing it so that it can be used across multiple years, my issue is below:
If I have project TEST and it started in 2013.011 and ends in 2014.004, I have forecast values for all periods so when I run the script I'm prompted to "select forecast year" and "select forecast version based on previous period"
So when I run from 2013.11 (forecast version P11) to 2013.12 (forecast version P12) that works fine but it's not working to roll-over from 2013.012 to 2014.001
Any help is much appreciated.
Thx,
Shane

SEM:BCS - Copying Consolidated data from one version to another
Hi,
We have a situation where we do Consolidation of Forecast data. However this involves mixing Actuals data. For eg.
1) Q3 forecast would contain Q1 and Q2 as Actuals and Q3 and Q4 as Forecast
2) System has already done the consolidation for Q1 and Q2 lets say in version 0
3) Forecast is a different version eg. F1.
4) I want to be able to copy the Consolidated data of Q1 and Q2 from version 0 to version F1. Then load the data for Q3 and Q4 for forecast and perform consolidations for Q3 and Q4.
What I have seen in the system is -
a) You can copy only the non-consolidated data from one version to another and not for eg. Elimination entries etc.
b) This means that I have to perform consolidations in version F1 for quarters Q1 and Q2 again even though its already been done in the Actuals version (0).
c) Is there any way out of this. There is always the possibility that the consolidated data in Q1 and Q2 does not match between Actuals (version 0) and Forecast (F1)Hi,
We had the same issue. In your solution you'll have to delete old (Q1 and Q2) forecast data and replace them by actuals. It's too problematic.
And you are absolutely right about possible inconsistency between actual and forecast data.
So, we've chosen another way.
We make separate consolidation in actual, budget, plan and forecast versions.
In plan and forecast we everything that is possible do periodically (including currency translation) -- to avoid the possible influence of historical data.
In a BEx query (and Excel workbook) level we retrive: N months of fact, forecast data for N1 month and a plan data for N2 month. After summing up all figures we have predicted (name it as forecast) data for N+2 months.
Of course, the actual, forcast and plan components are hidden in a report.
This is possible because, in plan and forecast we use turnovers (not balances) only. Even a balance sheet is produced without problems, not talking about P&L and Cash Flow.
Hope it helps.

Hello Gurus.
There is a concept of version in BPS.
Q1. What is the purpose of having version?
Q2. Where do we define version? For ex: i want to plan on version 001,002,003 for different levels. Do i need to upload the version data from flat file or do we need to punch in transactional cube manully..
i am not very much clear regarding version...I would appreciate if someone thro some light on this..
regards
RamHi Praveen
Thanks for the reply. We didnt started BPS till now..and next week we are going to start. In 0version infoobject i can already see few version like:
000 D Plan/Ist - Version
000 E Plan/actual version
001 D Planversion Änderung 1
001 E Plan Version: Change 1
002 D Planversion Änderung 2
002 E Plan Version: Change 2
003 D Istkosten vs. Sollkalkulation
003 E Actual Costs vs. Target Costs
100 D PS: Fortschrittsversion
100 E PS: Progress Version
110 D PS: Prognoseversion
110 E PS: Forecast Version
I think these are readly given by SAP. If i want to create new version..can i upload the versions directly from flat file or after entering the planning data that version will come at sit in 0version object.

Why I need different versions in BCS
What is the need for having different version in BCS? Can any one explain with example?
one reason would be comparative reporting
we have the following versions implemented:
100 - actuals
B00 - Budget version 1
F00 - Forecast version 1
F01 - Forecast version 1
F02 - Forecast version 1
F03 - Forecast version 4
FL0 - Flash version
the EhP2 has restating versions 200 and 300 I believe....
if anyone wonders why the forecast versions look funny, it is because our management is used to these versions...
so, I load budget and forecast into BCS via flatfiles (until we get IP up) and can run flash to actuals, flash to budget/forecast, actuals to budget/forecast comparative reporting
let me know if this helps -
Seamless Integration between Plan and Forecast Data at KF level
I have data in 2 IC like below:
IC : Current*
*FiscalPEriod Amount*

2011.09 100
2011.10 100
2011.11 100
2011.12 100
*IC : Forecast*
*Forecast Version Fiscal Period Amount*

2011.05 2011.07 300
2011.05 2011.08 300

2011.05 2011.10 300
2011.05 2011.11 300
2011.05 2011.12 300
Master Data for Forcaste Version:
*Forecaste Version FLAG*
2011.04 Prior
2011.05 Current
Now while creating Query, I need one KF called "Current Forecast Amount", So I need to go to master data and see forecast version against 'Current' and go to forecast cube abd selecet Amount under that Forcast Version. I did it with the help of Customer exit variable on Forcast Version. so its displaying data as below(From fiscalperiod 2011.05 it will pick 300):
2011.01 2011.02 2011.03 2011.04 2011.05 2011.06 2011.07 2011.08 2011.09 2011.10 2011.11 2011.12
300 300 300 300 300 300 300 300
Now requirement is to seamless integrate actuals with forcast data. Like let's take KF "Current Forecast Amount" we created above, so it should display data like below in the KF( From 2011.01 to 2011.04 it;s 100 from ACTUAL IC, from 2011.05 to 2011.12 it's 300 from Forcaste IC) :
===Data from Actual IC========== =================Data from Forecaste Cube==========================
2011.01 2011.02 2011.03 2011.04 || 2011.05 2011.06 2011.07 2011.08 2011.09 2011.10 2011.11. 2011.12
100 100 100 100 || 300 300 300 300 300 300 300 300
This Query has no variable restriction it means this will display data from all the years. And structure of the KF section is as below:
Fiscal Period
KF's.......
Current Forecast Amount
Can we achieve this at query level? Please help me, I am stuck here.

Edited by: AmanSharma123 on Jun 20, 2011 11:11 AMHi Suman,
Thank you for your reply. Users will be using this query dynamically ( no parameters at all in the query). I need to find a dynamic solution for this.
Do you have any idea for below question:
Let's say my Column structure is as below:
FiscalYear Period
KF's
Amount
and we run this query without any parameter, and we get out as below:
2001.01 2001.02 .................2001.12............................2002.05..........................2010.01
100 100 10 20 30
Can we know by any chance what's the current value of fiscal year period for KF amount any time? Any way to find this?
If I get this value, I will be able to derive my KF.

In 11i, can you develop model specifications by item? It appears whatever model you select gets imposed on every SKU and customer. What if you want to adjust the model specification by SKU or a group of skus?
Hi Mark,
just to be clear - the standard automatic forecast method in ODP will apply each method (and multiple variations of each of those methods) to each item at the forecast generation level. The system will select what it deems to be the best fit and will apply it. So the result of the automatic foreacast will be the most appropriate methodolgy (at least found within the restrictions of the Geneva Engine - obviously) for each item. The idea is that you don't have to then create myriads of other specific forecast measures in order to get the optimum.
Of course, building myriads of forecast versions will enable you to determine the variances to automatic. This then means you can then check that the automatic forecast is working properly and also enable analysis against actuals and therefore the building of better forecasts... which can potentially mean an ever increasing number of forecast measures that will consume disk space until the cows come home. This makes sense during CRP or User Acceptance but in the Live environment less is definitely better. Anyway, I have found that on the whole, the users are not interested in creating gazillions of measures to eat up IT infrastructure - they just want one line to adjust before the cycle ends.
You can create a subset of data (in a measure - of course) and then create a Forecast based on that measure - so you could create myriads of small measures if you wanted to. You could also create some events that contain the SKU items in the shape that you wish and then apply them to certain measures. Otherwise - get a bigger box.
Nice website BTW.

BCS: How to copy between versions
Hi,
Is there a way I can copy consolidated data from one version to another. For eg. for Februaray Forecast I want to copy January's actual numbers consolidated into the February Forecast version and perform consolidations only from February to December.
I tried to use the standard copy versions but it seems as if just copies the Reported Financial Data + data upto posting level 12.
Which basically means that I have to copy the data over from Actual version for January to Forecast version and perform the consolidation for January and then from February to December.
This is i)redundant and ii) error prone.
It also becomes worse as we go thru the different months.. for eg. for December forecast I would have to copy the data from January to November from Actual to Forecast version and perform consolidations on that and then perform consolidation for December.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
thxHi,
I don't think that you'll be able to copy fully consolidated data (posting level 30) to reported data (level 00).
Moreover, as you noticed, the COPY method doesn't copy all levels:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem40bw/helpdata/en/31/0a9940ccd42a54e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
Maybe there is a workaround. But, it's somewhat illogical.

Issue with planning version in KP98
Hi Team,
I have an issue with KP98 transaction when copying the actual data to plan data . The problem which I am facing is we are copying period 1 to 6 actuals data to 1 to 6 Forecast version 82 and after executing it copies the data in to old tables COSP but it is not updating FAGLFLEXT table.
We have created a planner profile with summary table FAGLFLEXT and posted the data using KP06 and GP12N.
To update data we are executing FAGL_CO_PLAN transaction and it load the data in to FGALFLEXT table . Please help me to understand why data is not loaded when using KP98 and why it is loading when using FAGL_CO_PLAN.
Thank you

As far as I know, KP98 is meant to copy the Plan / Actual data from one version to another. It is not designed to update FAGL tables
I am not sure if there is an option to copy the data similar way in New GL planning or not. But what you are doing currently seems to be the right way to me

While executing transaction CJ9L, no cost to complete are calculated
for my internal activity.
I have completed the customizing so that :
I have activity-assigned networks which are both appended and
apportioned.
The activity is assigned to a WBS element.
I have posted times on the activity thus there is a partial
confirmation on the activity.
I have indicated the POC for this activity.
Thanks for your feed-back on any other action that must be done for the
cost to complete to be calculated.Hi Nocolas,
Actually the CJ9L (project forecast) is a part of PLM (actually Project System), which you may post it in PLM forum.
Regarding the question, I think, you mix the two terms CTC (costs to complete) and POC. Certainly it make sense to integrate two business functionalities, but unfortuenately till now, the two functionalites do NOT affect each other.
The result of CJ9L create additionaly entries in the COSS & COSP table using the forecast version. You can run the standard PS info. report to get the proejct forecast be showed. The POC value is never tauched.
Kind regards,
Zhenbo
