Formatting an internationlised message - help please!

We are developing a multi-lingual application and all our text for field prompts and messages is held in the database in various ways. I'm developing a Reservation dialogue at the end of which I want to display a number of lines of text to the user some elements of which I want to be bold or italicised.
Example
The booking has been confirmed with the reference XXXXXX
Because of our multi-lingual requirement, the message is parameterised and I'm looking for a way to do this either in uiXML or in Java. I've tried <rawText> and embedding the <b> tags in the message but this doesn't support 'styleClass' which I want for the rest of the text. I've also looked at <messageFormat> but can't see how I can get the bold tags in.
Anyone suggest a way I might do this?

Hey Ian -
I think that you had the right idea - but instead of using <rawText>, try using <formattedText>. The formattedText component will let you embed <b> tags and also supports the styleClass attribute.
BTW, seems like you will still want to stick the <b> tags in your translation and use <messageFormat> to insert your substitution text.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Trying to Open PSE 9 and get Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error Message HELP please! :)

Everything worked fine until I paid and downloaded a program called Rad Lab that works in Photoshop Elements. I got that downloaded and then tried to open PSE and it won't open and I keep getting this error message.
I've attached a screen shot of what the message is. Also Adobe ran an update on my computer and it came up with an error message as well. Adobe Photoshope Elements 9.0.3. Update- "Patch cannot be applied. Please contact customer support"
So I called customer support and the wait time is over 1 hour so here I am on this forum trying to get some answers! If anyone can help I would appreciate it so much!!!

ITunes help with syncing; many error messages, Help please!

So, I have downloaded and re-downloaded the new iTunes 10.7 about a thousand times. Everytime I try to download, I get the message "rolling back" and then it starts up again and continues to download. Once downloaded, I plug my iPod touch 4th generation in and I get two pop-up messages: the first says "...mobile device is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation or contact your system administration or the software vendor for support." The next message I receive is "iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again." What am I doing wrong? Can someone please help? I would greatly appreciate it. I have been at this for about 4 hours and all I want to do is buy the new Red album and listen to it commuting to college.

Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Mobile Device Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Mobile Device Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

I am having a problem with my phone. If i save the number in my address book as normal...i.e 079 etc, when that number sends me a message it does NOT come up with a name just the number, BUT if i save the number in my address book as +44 when a text comes through the name WILL show but when the number rings the name wont, it just a number...does that make sense?! can anyone help me please...!

I am not sure about the +44 stuff - someone with that experience will help ya on that one, but with my address book, I have to add the number then add a name then when they call, their name shows up.

Resolution

Unable to format 400gb HD - Urgent Help Please!

I have installed a new 400gb Seagate Barracuda HD and set it as a slave drive on my KT4V motherboard.
My problem is that although I can see it registering ( fully - 372gb )in the bios and under disk management, I get a "Windows is unable to complete format" message when format ( quick/or full ) is attempted.
I read that this motherboard can only recognise upto 160gb due to lack of 48bit LBA support, but am confused by reading other peoples problems tending to be that they can see only a limited amount of space on their large drive while I can see it all but am unable to format.
Will a PCI IDE card resolve this issue. If so does anyone know what spec are required.

My drives are jumpered correctly for CS.
Also placed in the desired order on the IDE lead of Samsung 40GB = Master and Seagate 400gb = Slave.
My problem remains that I am unable to format the slave drive from within the 40gb windows OS via the windows explorer, Disk Management, command prompt, EASEUS.
Does any one know why/how this could be the case? Bearing in mind it did format when set as the master and booting from the XP sp2 install cd.
I'm going to have to reinstall windows to the 400gb and see if I can make the 40gb the slave. Which I did not try previously as that would have meant swapping the drives around in their bays. It was also not my preferred option.
Will have to do it tomorrow. Will post back my results.

C7 - Problem with text messages - Help please!

I have had my Nokia C7 since November and have not been able to use it! When I send a text message less than 160 characters I am charged between 2 and 3 times on my bill. The text message is being sent once and the recipient is receiving the text once. I have done everything that I have been asked by my provider from software upgrades to a brand new sim card to sending the phone off to be repaired to having a replacement but nothing works .. If I use my sim card in my old Nokia N79 then I don't have this problem. I recently tried a pay as you go sim card in the Nokia C7 and the same thing happened!
Any suggestions please??

Thanks for confirming .. Just so frustrating as getting no where with T Mobile. The technical person insisted that I had sent 3 text messages despite the fact that 1 was sent all because that is what was showing on his system! I had to go into the shop with a copy of my usage and the phone showing the text messages to prove only 1 text had been sent. They just don't seem to be able to resolve the issue. I just don't know what else to do. I haven't been able to use this new phone since November

Every time I try to send a message to any phone number in my contacts now, it says they are offline. I don't know how this happened/how do I fix it??

Messages cannot tell when people are Off line.
On the basis that most will have linked iPhone Number and Apple ID it is less likely that they will show up as Off Line (Red) when you try to iMessage them.
If you are only trying iPhone Numbers they may well be out of reach, Switched off, In airplane mode or have run out of charge.

for some reason, when I try to text i get this message
ERROR INVALID NUMBER. PLEASE RESEND USING A VALID 10 DIGIT MOBIL NUMBER OR VALID SHORT CODE.
The number I'm texting is a valid number because it's my cousin who JUST called my house and i need to send him something via text and it says his number isn't a valid 10 digit number.
wth is going on here???
It only happens with people who i haven't texted yet. But if they text me and i text back it starts to work.... i mean huh??? really???

My fone does the same thing, I finally deleted all incoming messages from the person and started a new dialog and it works fine. try it...Pete

Have weird error message, help please.

I've created two classes to interact with each other from a problem in my text book. Here is the problem from the book:
Implement a class Employee. An employee has a name(a string) and a salary (a double). Write a default constructor, a constructor with two parameters(name and a salary), and methods to return the name and salary. Write a small program that test your class.
I'm think the error is probably small, but I'm having trouble identifying it.
Here is the code and error messages

Employee rick = new Employee(rick,10000);The error message is telling you exactly what's going yon. You're trying to create a new Employee by passing an Employee and an int to the constructor. Employee does not have a c'tor that takes Employee and int as arguments. So either create such a c'tor, or call one that does exist. (Without looking at your code or what you're trying to do, I'll say that the latter is more likely the correct course.)
Also, you've got a flaw there, in that at the point you say Employee rick, rick does not have a value, but then in the same line, you try to pass rick's value to the c'tor, but rick doesn't have a value yet. You're saying, "here's this new variable rick, give it a value based on it's current, nonexistent value."
