Forms Completion Mystery

I use a PC running Win 7 Ultimate (64bit) & Acrobat Pro X. I have created a form Using Acrobat Pro X. I gave the form Reader Extended features & sent it to multiple recipients inside & outside my LAN. When some recipients return what they believe is a completed form, it is blank when I open it, even though they can open/close it multiple times on their desktop & their completed fields display fine. One such recipient uses a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8 & Acrobat 9. I can read fine the forms completed by other Mac recipients running 10.6.6 and Acrobat 9. Any suggestions? Is there a compatibility issue with MacBooks?

There is a knowm issue with the PDF viewer software that Apple provides. If your users use Adobe Reader then they will not have the issue. Here is a link to a forum post that discusses the issue and gives a potential solution:

  • Can I have Email Recipients of a PDF Form Complete via Smart Phone Email?

    Hello Adobe PDF Forum,
Is it possible to have email recipients of my PDF form complete via their smart phone email platform?  If so, could you step me through the 'how to' process in making this possible for my recipients?
Thank you!  Have a great afternoon.
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
Your recipients can use the free Adobe Reader mobile app for iOS or Android to fill out PDF forms via their smart phones. They can download the Reader mobile app from Features | Adobe Reader mobile app. Then, when they receive an email from you with your form attached, they can open it directly from the email client into the Reader mobile app and fill it out. Easy!
Please let us know if you have additional questions.
    Best,
    Sara

  • How to enable automatic forms completion

Have searched for this question/topic in the Firefox help section but seem to get hits regarding 1) auto complete issues with the location bar or 2) disabling forms complete. How do I set up forms completion?
    Thanks in advance.

  • LiveCycle form Completion

A form I created has fields to be filled in by different applicants
    .Example. 1 Form has 4 sections -
Section A : to be filled and signed by 1st applicant.
Section B: to be filled and signed by 2nd applicant.
Section C: to be filled and signed by 3rd applicant.
Section D: to be filled and signed by 4th applicant.
All the steps are in sequence.
After the applicant 4 fills in the form the application is finally submitted.
I am not sure if this process can be mapped in workbench as it is the form completion process and the user 2,3 and 4 are defined by user 1 in section A by capturing their mail ID.
All the applicants of 1 form can be in different locations.
Not sure if workbench has this ability?

Installing it first, eh.  Now why didn't I think of that.
Thanks very much indeed.  I have posted a rather fuller account of my various issues at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4408527#4408527.  You've answered question 3, but if you have any brigfht ideas on the others that would be very welcome.

  • Looking to verify user before form completion

I have a form that we have been using (well trying to use )
    for a few months
    now...
It works fine as long as the data exists in our database...
quick view of how the system works...
We have a trouble ticket system.. used by our techs to log
    calls and keep
    track of issues and resolutions.
Well it has the ability to open tickets automatically via
    email.
So i created a web form with just the basic information
    required to open a
call... this works great.... Now the issue we have is that
    since this was
never used til now, not everyone is setup in the ticket
    system with accounts
and emails so if someone submits there call and they dont
    exist, the call is
still opened.. but not under that person....
I was trying to use the Check User Name in dreamweaver, but
    requires to have
an Insert Record behavior setup, we cant insert anything into
    the database
without using the client app or via email.... the database is
    complex...
so is there any other way to verify the users before they are
    allowed to
    enter the form?
all i need to do is have them complete a simple form, last
    name and first
name and have it check against the ticket system database. if
    they exist
they are shown a page with there data to make sure its
    correct. If it is..
they click past to complete the form... if anything is wrong
    they call our
techs to update the data and then allow them to complete the
    form..
What else can i use to do this other than Check User Name
    behavior... unless
there is a way to use it without inserting the record.

    ok,
Got that part working, now let me ask this....
For the form to be accepted by the ticket system, the name
    has to be
submitted in this format: Doe, John
When i verify the account im actually checking against 2
    columns, but for
the system to open the ticket correctly you have to submit
    the name as 1 not
    2 seperate fields...
So is there a way to pass on the 2 fields as 1 on the next
    page?
    Page #1
Enter First and last name in there own fields...
( Last Name: First Name: )
    Page #2
Displays information found or details on why they were not
    found
    Page #3
Need to pass the first and last name data to this page and
    populate 1 field
in the above format Doe, John

  • Problem viewing data in forms completed on Macs

I have forms loaded on our website for clients to download, complete and email back to me.  They work fine until filled out on a Mac.  For some reason, the fields are all blank but when you click in them, the data the client has input is visible.  Clients tell us they can input and save the form which looks fine on their Mac but when they send it the fields appear to be empty (I am opening the forms on a pc)  This doesn't happen with pc's.  The forms were created in Acrobat Pro.  Can anyone please suggest what I might be missing here?

Here is your solution.  Copy the Javascript code below from // to //   Then open Windows Notepad program and past the script in there.  After you paste it go to "save as"  then look for the Javascript folder for Adobe Pro X ( or XI)
It will probably located in some place like  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Javascripts.
And then name the file whatever  (for example FormFill.JS)  - the .js is important.    Your done.  Then open Adobe Pro and click on the FILE button inr the up right corrner.  On the gray drop down menu and new words FIX FILE APPEARANCE should be on the bottom of that drop down.   If you get a Mac submission, click these words (button) and it will fill in the info.  (I don't lay claim to the solution or coding)  But it work in Adobe Pro X  & XI and have done it for the whole staff in my department
// Add a menu item to the end of the File menu
    app.addMenuItem({
        cName: "AS_correctFieldAppearances",
        cUser: "Fix Field Appearances",

        cExec: "COM_ACROSCRIPT.correctFieldAppearances(this);",
        cEnable: "event.rc = (app.doc && numFields && (typeof xfa === \"undefined\"));"

    var COM_ACROSCRIPT = {};

    COM_ACROSCRIPT.correctFieldAppearances = function (doc) {

f_name, f, fp, nWidgets, fw, cc,
c1 = color.blue, c2 = color.yellow;  // These can be any color, as long as they are different

// Determine the number of widgets for the current field
                nWidgets = (typeof fp === "number") ? 1 : fp.length;
// Loop through the current field's widgets

// either c1 or c2. Choose c2 if the current color equals c1

  • Form completion in reader

I have recently started using Adobe Pro 9, and want to use the function for completion in Reader across my organisation, and submission in pdf rather than xml, but not there are varying Reader versions in use. What version is the earliest that this will work with?

I tend to agree. If the basic purpose of the form is the same and essentially the same information is being collected you are probably not covered. If you are only talking about fewer than 500 folks in your organization would be involved, my read suggests you would be covered. It may well be worth the cost of consulting a lawyer for a read of the EULA (section 15) to be sure you are covered. If you have a legal department then it should be simple to get an opinion.
I am not sure what your issue is with the XML file. It is easily imported to the form on your end and so you end up with the same result. In that case, there is not need for the full form for data collection. The user can still print the filled form (with document and markup selected). The only limitation would be that they cannot save the form with the data unless you activate Reader Rights. So, do you really need to deal with the EULA?

  • Additional licence for pdf form completion?

    Hi,
I apologise if this is the wrong place to ask my question - please redirect me if it is.
Years ago I used Adobe professional (I don't remember the version number) and I could create forms for others to complete, however if the other person did not have Professional the forms did not work.
I now work for a different organisation and would like to revisit this, but in my previous workplace there was a £10,000 licence that had to be purchased in order to allow the functionality for Reader users to be able to complete the forms.
Am I correct in thinking that Adobe X Pro has this functionality built in and no further licencing is required?
    Many thanks,
    Su

What you're talking about is Reader-enabling your form, which allows Reader to do things it normally cannot, such as saving a filled-in form. Without this additional step, Reader can be used to interact with the fields, print, and submit form data, but cannot save.
If you Reader-enable a document with Acrobat and distribute it to more than 500 users, you can use data from no more than 500 forms that have been returned to you, including hard copies. If the users don't need to save, you don't need to Reader-enable the document. If you don't need the entire filled-in form returned to you, you can set up the form to submit just the form data to you, via web server or email.
If you do need to have the users send the complete filled-in document to you and you need to distribute the form to more than 500 users, you will need to license LiveCycle Reader Extensions. The exact cost depends on your intended usage.

  • Form Completion, secure and email

I would like to be able to provide my employees with a form that they would be able to complete with the clients information and price quote and then email to the client where the client would not be able to edit the document but print.
I can do all this from Acrobat X pro but would like to streamline/simplify for my employees that are moblie.
I have done some searching but not quite sure what this would be called to come up with a good search result.
    Thank you in advance.

  • My ipod is a complete mystery

My ipod is really causing me some problems.
Let me give a little backstory.
Recently, a tree was struck by lightning in our front yard and created a lot of problems. For instance, the power supply in the computer was blown. Upon replacing the power supply and putting more songs on itunes, when I went to update my ipod here is what happened:
After the update was complete, it said "ipod update is complete," but it didn't give me permission to disconnect. I accidentally disconnected the ipod without doing it safely but I don't think that's the problem.
I know the USB ports work because everything else works with them (USB ports). I've uninstalled Itunes and uninstalled the ipod updater. I reinstalled both (latest versions) and I updated the software on my ipod and I completely restored my ipod.
NOW, when I go to put music on my ipod, it will put nothing on it and still only say "Ipod update is complete," but it will not give me permisssion to disconnect.
    Has anyone experienced this?

NOW, when I go to put music on my ipod, it will put nothing on it and still only say "Ipod update is complete," but it will not give me permisssion to disconnect.
just checking ... if you head into your itunes "ipod" preferences tab (while the ipod is connected and showing up in the itunes sourcelist), do you find that you've got "manually manage songs and playlists" selected?

  • Home Sharing for 12 a complete mystery

Can someone please explain how i pull across content from one authorized computer to a second on my Home Sharing?  There is no longer a Show or Import button on the bottom of the Itunes 12 menu and the new system is so overly complicated I can't figure it out.  Any help would be appreciated.  This new version is a complete disaster Apple.

Just to add this, I DID look at Itunes help and it says to click the Show Pop up Menu button at the bottom of the Itunes window, but IT'S NOT THERE and there is nothing in the menu bar to turn it on.  God this is so **** frustrating.

  • Form completion on iPad

On numerous sites when entering my email address I get a message "must enter a valid email address". The email address is correct but it won't take it. When I go to the same form on my MacBook all is fine.
This only happens on my ipad2.
Is anyone else having the same problem?

What iPad app did you use?
Some apps like ExpertPDF do a reasonable job, but it does not have all of the features that desktop Acrobat/Reader has.
You have to test your form and possibly work around the limitations of the app.

  • Form completion progress bar

How do I make a progress bar to show the amount of populated fields in a form?
I remember an example posted here on the forum, but can no longer find it.
It was a sliding "progress bar" that increased as you populated fields in the form.
As the form fields were filled in, the progress bar moved up the scale.
When all fields were populated the progress bar was "full".
    Thanks for any help!

The 'jumping back' would be due to reinitializing the thermometer every time calculate is triggered. There's no need to call begin() or set the duration more than once per thermometer session.
About the 'odd jumping' problem; after some testing I'm bound to doubt the possibility of invoking a thermometer with a value other than 0. Your thermometer is invoked with value=1, although the progress bar stays put at 0.
A solution would be to invoke the thermometer before filling out the first field (whereas value really is 0). However Acrobat doesn't seem to keen on jump-starting thermometers on startup (whether it's initialize, form:ready or docReady). I've also tried app.setTimeOut() with no luck. Although enter- and exit-events do the trick, I'm convinced there are better solutions...

  • Form Completion

I just developed my first form in Designer 7. When I save the form and then open it, the data that I placed in the form fields is gone. I have Acrobat 7 Pro. I entered the data in Acrobat on the form created in Designer. What is happening?

Check the binding of the fields. Select a field, click on the Object tab then the Binding tab and check Default Binding. If it says "none" then that's the problem. Perhaps what you've done is created your form on a master page instead of using body pages. When you put a field on a master page its binding is set to none by default.

  • How do I remove a form completion entry in the form completion list?

This question originally appeared in the question:
How do you take something out of the suggestion drop down sign-in list?
The suggested answer is fine for desktop Firefox (click on form, down arrow to show list, click on entry and hit DELETE) but doesn't work for the Android version. I can get the drop-down list, of course, but highlighting an entry and hitting the BACKSPACE doesn't delete the entry. As far as I can tell, once it's in a list, it's there for keeps. or is it?

What steps are you taking to remove the form from Tracker?
