Formula headings in BEx shows UID....

In the formula description I have "% change vs last year". When I execute it in BEx the heading displays "Formula 4AN7E9DVTL4EKQ3AKQFJMB7KJ (which is the UID). I can not get it to display "% change vs last year". I have checked and unchecked "Use Standard Text" and that does not work. Is this some sort of bug? Can anyone help me out with this?

I´m searching how to use the smart-input / AdHoc Formulas within the BEx Web (in BEx Analyzer it is not a problem).

I got exactly this system status in my test system, but I could not manage to execute the adhoc formula feature in a query (I don´t have the context formula within calculations and translations) - like it is described here:

Is there something else I got to take care of? Some system setting? Also I got the SAP GUI 710.

Hi,
I just found out that there is a different in step 5 of the Define Exception Wizard between an ad hoc exception created in BEx Web Analyzer and an exception created in Query Designer.
Step 5 is to set characteristic restriction.
I was not aware there is a different between exceptions created in Query Designer and BEx Web Analyzer.
Exception created In Query Designer: In step 5, it stated that "For all characteristics, the exception has no restrictions as long as none of the following settings are selected"
Ad hoc exception created In BEx Web Analyzer: In step 5, it stated that "For all characteristics, the exception affects only the results as long as none of the following settings are selected"
If you have filters applied to some characteristics that are not drill down/across in the query result, you must include them in the characteristic restriction of the exception. Otherwise, the query result will not be affected by the exception.
E.g., Drill down by Plant, filter Fiscal Year by 2008.
In step 5 (of ad hoc exception), must include both Plant and Fiscal Year in the characteristic restriction.

Formula calculation in BEx

I have a report:
Item//Per1//Per2//Per3
income//25//36//52
costs//21//23//09
adj costs//4//13//8
Now I need a row like the below:
LTM adj costs//25//19//11 (25=4138 i.e. adding all the adj costs from present to last 2 periods) similarly 19 and 11 assuming the previous period adj costs values are 2 and 5.
NOTE: Items are from the structures in the rows and periods are offsets for Posting periods in the column.
How can I calculate or define the LTM adj costs.
Please let me know if I am clear.

Hi Nikki,
You will have to create one more structure for the 12 periods..so that you will have 2 structures in the query.
Then you can define exception cells..

Defining Exception Cells
Use
When you define selection criteria and formulas for structural components and there are two structural components of a query, generic cell definitions are created at the intersection of the structural components that determine the values to be presented in the cell.
Cell-specific definitions allow you to define explicit formulas, along with implicit cell definition, and selection conditions for cells and in this way, to override implicitly created cell values. This function allows you to design much more detailed queries.
In addition, you can define cells that have no direct relationship to the structural components. These cells are not displayed and serve as containers for help selections or help formulas.
Prerequisites
The query contains two structures. You can define exception cells only for queries which have two structures. You can use the one structure for characteristic values and key figures for the other. You can then define cells if these prerequisites have been met.
A cell is the intersection between two structural components. The term Cell for the function Defining Exception Cells should not be confused with the term Cell in MS Excel. The formulas or selection conditions that you define for a cell always take effect at the intersection between two structural components. If a drilldown characteristic has two different characteristic values, the cell definition always takes effect at the intersection between the characteristic value and the key figure.
Procedure
In the Query Designer toolbar, choose Define Cells... to reach the cell definition functions.
New selection
1. Select a cell in the Cell Definition dialog box and, from the context menu, choose New Selection.
2. Define your selection by dragging a key figure and the characteristic values by which you want to restrict the key figure (using Drag&Drop) to the right-hand area of the New Selection dialog box. See also Defining Selections
You can use characteristic value variables instead of fixed characteristic values.
- If you want to change an existing variable, select this variable and, from the context menu, choose Edit. The SAP BW Variables Editor appears. For more information, see Changing Variables in the Variable Editor.
- If you want to define a new variable, select the characteristic value and, from the context menu, choose New Variable. The SAP BW Variables Wizard appears. For more information, see Defining Variables with the Variable Wizard.
3. Enter a description for the selection.
You can use Text Variables in the description.
4. Choose OK. The cell contains the description of the selection. The symbol shows you that a selection exists for this exception cell.
New formula

New cell reference
You can use any cell that you define in a formula. If you want to reuse the value from the implicit, generic cell definition that is automatically created at the intersection of the two structural components of a query, select this cell in the Cell Definition dialog box and, using the secondary mouse button, choose New Cell Reference. A description taken from the two structural components now automatically appears in the cell. The symbol shows you that a cell reference exists for this exception cell. You can now reference to this cell. That is, you can reuse the implicit cell definition and do not have to create these values manually in a new selection.
Functions of explicitly defined cells:
Select a defined cell and choose the required function from the context menu (secondary mouse button).
· Edit
· Delete
· Where-Used List
Before you delete a cell, you can check for the formulas in which the defined cell is used in the where-used list.
· Properties
Choose Properties if you:
- Want to change the description of the cell.
- Want to change the highlighting of the cell.
- Want to hide the cell. That is, if you do not want to see the values of the cell.
Help Cells
Choose Help Cells, if you require additional cells for help selections or help formulas. You can use the functions New Selection and New Formula in the context menu to define help cells that are not displayed in the query to serve only as objects for help selections and help formulas.
For example, you can define an invoice in a help cell and use this in a real cell to calculate a duplicated invoice.
a. Right-click on the empty cell next to Help Cells to get to a context menu. From here, choose New Selection.
b. Use Drag & Drop to drag the Invoice key figure into the right-hand area of the New Selection dialog box.
c. Enter a description.
d. Choose OK. The cell contains the description of the selection. The symbol shows you that a selection exists for this exception cell.
e. From the context menu for the required cell of the query, now choose New Formula.
f. Drag the cell you have just defined, which you can find in the Operands window, under Cells, into the Formula window using Drag & Drop. Click on the button twice.
g. Enter a description.
h. Choose OK. The cell contains the description of the formula. The symbol shows you that a formula exists for this exception cell.
In the help cells that are already defined in the context menu, you can:
· Edit the cell definition
· Delete the cell definition
· Display the where-used list for the cell
· Change the description of the cell under Properties.
Result
You have defined one or more exception cells for a query. In the status bar of the Query Designer, the symbol shows you that the query contains exception cells.

Date formula variable in BEx output

Dear All,
In Bex , I made a formula variable F_CURDATE and used it in formula. I fill it with current date
l_s_range-low = sy-datum.
My value in BEx comes 201,40,604. This is 04 Jun 2014.
Why isn't it coming in date format. I then, used data function [date]'process value as date. The output shows value X.
How can I show date in date format in BEx?

The bit l_s_range-low = sy-datum must be coming from the customer exit code, right?
And should this code not be used for populating a cust exit variable? How do you populate sy-datum to a formula variable in the query? Pls correct me if i m missing something in your question.
However if it is a formula variable on 0CALDAY, there are standard SAP variables giving current date.
Can you not use them in your query as per your requirement?

i have to show this data in report as single record with format condition like

here the itemtypetext 10 value is calculated as = if itemtype=10 and Launch date < today
the itemtypetext 20 value is calculated as = if itemtype=20 and Launch date < today
the itemtypetext 30 value is calculated as = if itemtype=30 and Launch date < today

i dont understand what your meaning about value of itemtype text? Could you please explain it again clearly or give uns a complete example?
This condition is a bit complex for query formular to realize it, Instead of it you could create a new virtuell Characteristic with a flag to do it. e.g If lauch < today, this flag will be '1', else will be '0'. Then we could restrict KF in the query to calculate.

Formula Variable in Bex , Urgent

Hi Experts,
                    I have created a formula variable on 0Material with replacement path as processing type. I am using this formula variable in a formula that i have created. The formula works fine.
However , when i create another formula variable on 0Prod_hier ( which has a navigational technical name 0MATERIAL__0PROD_HIER ) with replacement path as processing type, The formula which i have created doesnt work.
Ex:
1) ('MAT_FORM' == 100010001)'NET_SALES'10 , This works fine
2) ('HIER_FORM' == 10000010000001)'NET_SALES'10    . This fails.
Iam using the same formula process but with different formula variables , i cant understand why the formula is failing
I have checked the data, in the cube and the infoprovider (0Material has 0PROD_HIER data) , but i am stuck as to why the system is not recognizing the prod hier values,

Please read the following:
BEx Query Designer: Creating formula variables
You have loaded data into your InfoProvider. To be able to use sign reversal in reporting, you have to define a formula variable in the query definition:
       1.      You are in the Query Designer. Under Key Figures, use the context menu to choose New Formula. The Formula Builder opens.
       2.      Under Formula Variables, choose New Variable from the context menu. The variables wizard appears.
       3.      Enter a name and a short text for the variable. Choose Replacement Path as the processing type.
       4.      Choose your hierarchy basic characteristic.
       5.      Choose Hierarchy Attribute as the replacement. The attribute Sign Reversal is automatically displayed.
       6.      Save your formula variable. When defining the formula variable, you get the factor 1 or 1, with which you can multiply the required key figure.

Formula Problem in BEx

Dear All,
I am using BEx Query Designer to make a query.I view the report using browser. I have 2 keyfigure fields "price" and "forecast quantity". I have to arrive at "forecast Value" = price * forecast quantity using formula in Query designer. Although for each material this proves correct in report material wise. If I see the report customer-wise a customer who has bought 10 materials first the prices are added up andthen the forecast quantity is added up and then the sums are multiplied to get forecast value which is wrong.
Illustration :
For Customer 1 :
                Quantity    Price     Value(Quantity * price)
Material1   | 2           | 10        | 20
Material2   | 3           | 10        | 30
Material3   | 5           | 10        | 50
Material4   | 7           | 10        | 70
Total         | 17          | 40        | 170 = Correct value
But if I see report customer wise I get the value as 17 * 40 = 680 which is wrong.
Is there any way when I see an aggregation of materials the calculation in formula column first multiplies individual rows and then add the rows to give me final value?

Hello ,
           Right click on the calculated key figure select properties enhanced and change to Before aggregation , now the result is calculated correctly.
But if you use before aggregation, the cubes aggregates are not used, so this will have negative effect on performance , this property is applicable to query level key figures.

Formula in Excel Sheet shows #VALUE!.

Hi,
I have 11gr2 Forms/Reports with Windows Server 2008 64-bit.
I have Excel sheet imported from Oracle Reports with destype=enhancedspreadsheet.
Problem is in my Excel sheet, that when I add formula to multiply two columns, it shows #VALUE! error, which is actually occurs
when we multiply a text column with number column.
Although values in columns in number format (like 8600.000,45.000), it assumes these as text column and when
I re-enter same values in columns manually, formula column shows result without any error.
Is there any settings in REPORTS to avoid this error ?

This may seem like a stupid comment but have you checked to see if the excel formulas were put into the layout in the layout definitions screen and not in the layout while executing the layout? Also does the layout have dynamic columns?
For example, if I have 12 Dynamic columns for the periods of the year based on a variable it would only show up in the layout definition screen as 1 data column but would be 12 columns on executing the layout and thus the Excel Formula need to be in the 13th column rather than the 2nd column

Drop-Down-Box (F4 Input Help) for formula variable in BEx Analyzer (BI 7.0)

Hi Gurus,
is it possible to get a drop down box for a ready for input formula variable in the BEx Analyzer (not BEx Web!)?
We want to let the users choose scaling factors 1, 1000 or 1000000 (implemented via this formula variable). In the settings of the formula variable you can only choose a default value but there seems to be no option to provide all three factors in a drop down box like the ones for characteristic value variables.
We could prevent other entries in the variable pop up via customer exit (i_step 3) but the business is wishing an F4 input help like the ones for characteristic values.

Formula variables from BEx to WebI

I have a formula variable(manual input) in a Bex Report, based on this variable only the result output is displayed using conditions.But when i create a webi report on this , the formula variable is coming as a default prompt, but the condition doesnt work.

How do I suppress a field value if its zero in BEx query?

Under Display> Hide> If I select 'Always Hide', its hiding the field description also, but I just want to supress the value.
and the formula field is part of the structure.

BEx - show key only for variables (filters) chosen

We have a custom build fiscal period (ZFISCPER) that has a reference characteristic of 0CALMONTH. We have used 0CALMONTH as a reference char to benefit from some of the features of it. One feature that we don't like is the description. For example period 1's description is JAN, period 2 is FEB.
The users do not want to see the description at all, so we have chosen to only use the key as the display in BEx. This works fine except when the user chooses a value from the variable screen for fiscal period. When the report is displayed, just above the values, the filter values are displayed:
Fiscal Year Variant Fiscal Week Calendar
Fiscal Period/Year JUL 2007
Is there any way to make the filter information show the key instead of the description?

On the BEx toolbar you will find the option of choosing LAYOUT. Click on it and then choose DISPLAY TEXT ELEMENTS -> VARIABLES. This will list all the variables of the query (both key and text listed in separate rows for each variable). Then you can delete the rows that contain the texts and just keep the rows with KEY description. When done save the workbook.
<i>Note:</i> This approach would work only if your client is running queries using workbooks with standard templates.
