Overall, over 50% of total messages in the public forums is in forums
dedicated to a Macromedia based technology. If we then take into
consideration the messages that are in general forums like this one
(almost 1% of total messages is in this forum) or in language based
forums (Spanish etc.) or for products released after the merger, the
percentage of messages about "old school" Adobe products is a clear
minority.
Which means what exactly?  That the "old school" product forums are less important because their numbers are down?  Perhaps the numbers are down due to the software and all of the folks who left in disgust.

  • Purpose of this Forum (Server General) *** Please Read Before Posting ***

Welcome to Windows Server General Forum !
This is an English TechNet forum, Please post your queries in English !
    Scope:
The name "General" has a very broad significance and sometimes that might lead to some ambiguities.
The scope of this forum is to answer General "Server Administration" related queries pertaining
to Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 / R2 and 2012  operating systems.
Again, "Server Administration" has innumerous aspects and at times it becomes bit difficult to categorize
    them.
We try to answer your questions in General or provide troubleshooting support in depth as and when necessary
based on the context of the query.
Questions could be related to AD, GP, Server OS related Queries/issues/errors, general troubleshooting etc…
list is too huge and it's highly difficult to elaborate them here :-)
We understand that this scope and purpose can be a little confusing, we apologize for any confusion.
If you might not know the scope or purpose of this forum, we'll redirect you to read this thread if we need
to explain how this forum works.
    Out of Scope:
Queries on following (but not limited to…) are Out of scope in this forum.
    Scripting

We might (but do not claim to) answer some of the out of scope questions directly here. If we do,
then it's just a Bonus ! and it's not the purpose or in the scope of what this forum provides.
    Moving Threads:
It may happen that, your question might have been moved to this forum in an attempt by another moderator from
a different forum to help you find the correct forum or we might move your threads to an appropriate forum as and when necessary.
If a community member gave you the URL/link of a specific Technet forum, then you may request a move to that
specified forum (If a link to the forum category is specified; you'll still need to pick a specific forum from that category) or thread will be moved to the appropriate forum if a Moderator is around.
    NOTE:
We cannot move a thread to another Microsoft forum that's not in the TechNet Forum System such as ASP.net,
IIS.net and Answers.Microsoft.com etc… So we can only provide links to those forums.
    Marking Answers:
We propose a reply (such as a link about where to go ask your question) to a recent question as an answer,
and then we will usually wait one week (~7 days) before we mark it as the answer. We prefer you (the Asker/OP - Original Poster) to mark the answer, but we do not require it if you abandon the thread for a long time.
If you (the Asker/OP - Original Poster) refuse to let us propose and mark an answer (without telling us why
and helping us figure out the alternatives/workarounds), then we might need to lock a thread or move it to the Off Topic forum.
    Please Read Before Posting:

  • News feed for this forum

    Hi
As I alluded to in my preceding post, the only newsfeed I can
find for the flex forums here is
"macromedia.flex.general_discussion", which points to the Flex 1.5
    General Discussion forum.
Where's the newsfeed for the Flex 2.0 forum?
    Cheers.
    Adam

Cheers, yes, I know that. As per my original post (which
might not have been clear, sorry), these are the groups presented
    by the newsfeed:
    macromedia.flex.flex_builder
    macromedia.flex.general_discussion
    macromedia.flex.pricing_licensing
    macromedia.flex.upgrade_migration
(Do you see a different list than that?)
    And the "macromedia.flex.general_discussion" news group
points to the "Flex 1.5 General Discussion" web forum.
So. Back to what I asked...
"Where's the newsfeed for the Flex 2.0 forum?"

  • Thanks Adobe! I LOVE this new forum software!

As someone who belongs to many, many forums over the years, I've gone through a lot of forum software changes. Generally, the vocal majority raise heck about it, but eventually things settle down and people go about their regular forum use with little effort.
These new forums are so much "easier on the eyes" than the mind-numbing sea of text we currently have. Some like the new colors, some hate it. Some like avatars & signatures, and some don't. But the reason you come here is for the information, and this new software WILL make it easier to find what you're looking for.
Macworld.com switched to this very same software last year. They had an obscenely large user base, all of which voiced their opinions repeatedly, to the point where many simply stopped visiting until the switchover was complete. In general, those that don't like change tend to voice their opinions the loudest. The vast majority though, tend to keep quiet and roll with changes. Today, Macworld's forums are running just fine, offer a plethora of new features, and are more active than they ever were previously.
I have no heavy interest in what Adobe does with these forums because I rarely visit the current ones - mostly because I find them absolutely unreadable. But I'm also betting I'll be using them a whole lot more once this switchover is complete. In fact, I KNOW I will.
Rather than complaining about change in general, colors, icons, avatars, signatures, bloated code, or whatever silly reason some are coming up with, time would be better spent simply helping to find bugs with what is there. Once the bugs are worked out, Adobe will most likely start looking at "fine-tuning" the look & feel.

    > What I have noticed is that there is a totally different set of aesthetic values being exhibited here between the Users of the Adobe Professional Graphic Arts applications (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and the people who are almost entirely geared to AV or to web site work and the use of the formerly Macromedia products (such as Dreamweaver).
Ann, you may be correct. But if functionality is truly the most important feature of Adobe Forums, the WebX format falls dramatically short for my own applications:
WebX screws any code or script posted, generally making it unusable. For this reason, the Script and Expression areas of the After Effects forum are virtually non-existent. Users go to other places to discuss these features, because it's not practical to do so on the current forums.
A picture tells a thousand words. When new users come to the WebX forums and want to post a screen grab of their problem project, it's embarrassing to tell them they need to use an external image host to do so.
Video tells ten thousand words. The ability to easily embed YouTube and other online video content into a post is not just a great convenience, it's a way to teach, inform and demonstrate within the forum, rather than sending users somewhere else mid-discussion.
I share a number of your criticisms about the Jive Forums, but for me and the community which uses my frequented forums, the Jive system also offers features which are essential for productive use. As I suspect the new system, like the old, will evolve over time, I'm happy to embrace the positives of the change, and hope that any major problems can be resolved in time.

  • ADOBE can you please allow pages in the new forum to show in history

When you view a post and go back to the list of subgects by using the browser back button [and there seems to be no other option] i go back to page 1 of the list of subjects..maybe this is using ajax on a single url or similar technology...but surely ADOBE can do better than this...very frustrating to use.

No-one from Adobe will hear you, this is a user to user forum  :-)
If you want to voice any opinions or suggestions, there is a Forum dedicated to feedback that you can post to:

PS:  This subject has been bought up many times on various platforms since the switch in software, so hopefully something will be done about it in time .

  • How to see most recent posts per forum

    Hi, all;
It seems to me that I'm not "getting" something about the organization of the forums. What I want to do is see the posts in each forum that I am interested in, most recent first. What I actually see when I go to each forum is "trending" discussions. When I go to Browse>Discussions, I can see that some of the most recent discussions aren't getting into the "Trending" category, but Browse>Discussions shows a jumbled mess of all forums.
I'd like to help these people, but I fear their questions are falling through the cracks, since they're not "trendy" enough for me to be able to see them.  How can I see "recent" discussions instead of "trending" ones.
    Regards;
    Amy

  • No support from Adobe- going to have to make a complaint with Attorney General

I was recently in a fire (December 2010) and my Creative Suite Design Premium Student Edition was destroyed along with my new MacBook Pro.  I have contacted Adobe since April 20111 to try to acquire a replacement and have had no luck.  First off, I have received automated responses are that are not even a live person.  For example, I explained my situation and that I obviously don't have my serial numbers anymore because they were detroyed in the fire.  Adobe's response, here are your serial numbers, I am sorry you are having a hard time installing your software.  Does that sound like a live person or perhaps a person that does not care.
Secondly, I submitted my proof of purchase (my mom had purchased the computer and Suite for me).  All the information was available right on the sheet I submitted.  They came back and asked me for the e-mail address of my mother so they could look up her student account.  This was after I explained I was the student.
Also, I was informed by two people that I would need to fill out a letter of destruction and one person that told me I didn't.  They also told me I could perform a platform switch since I know have a PC.  However, when they finally got around to responding to my inquiry, they said it wasn't available anymore and I needed to upgrade to 5.5.  Now mind you, I had CS5 and Cs5.5 came out in April.  I have been contacting them since May, so they mean to tell me they have no more CS5 for PC?  No, they are just trying to upsell, which would mean $399 for me.
I am very disgusted with the service at Adobe and the fact that they know they have a monopoly.  They can have workers from other countries who live chat with you, and it takes 10 minutes for them to translate.  Not to mention the fact that if you need support by phone your wait time is 40 minutes.  They also have a tendency to close my cases even before they are resolved.  I know there is a window of 5 days you have to respond in e-mail, which I have done, but they still close it when they feel like they don't want to be bothered.
Have you ever scene the movie, Rainmaker?  This situation is like that movie.  They deny all claims and even when someone keeps submitting they continue to deny, playing the odds that someone won't contact an attorney.  They are totally in the wrong.  There is no way you can say that they are right when they don't actually read e-mails and provide awful customer service.  I feel sorry for the people that work at Adobe and think they have a good job.  Look what your company stands for.  This is why they are not listed in the Better Business Bureau.

You are not addressing Adobe here. This is a user to user forum. The only forum that Adobe has an official presence is the adobe.com forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/adobedotcom_feedback
Reposting there might generate a response from Adobe. I am sorry to here that you have suffered the loss in a fire. Never having been in a fire I cannot imagine what you have been through. I have suffered with losses due to flooding and that was bad enough. Adobe may not have a legal responsibility to help you, but maybe Adobe will help if for no other reason than the goodwill it will generate.

  • Rename "BPM and Workflow" forum to "SAP Business Workflow"

    G'Day,
99% of posts in the [BPM and Workflow|SAP Business Workflow; forum deal with SAP Business Workflow. It was originally intended for ccBPM which - though they share some underlying architecture - is basically XI / PI.
A few ccBPM posts occasionally appear in the WF forum, but they are generally not answered and more appropriate in XI. These days I usually move them to XI when it's clear that the 'local' population won't answer it.
So to avoid confusion for people I propose to rename the forum to SAP Business Workflow or at least something that doesn't confuse it with XI.
    Any input welcome.
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Well, you probably already know what I think ;).
If there is little to no traffic for BPM, then let's call the forum what it is, SAP Business Workflow - Or Workflow and Guided Procedures?
Sidebar: I posted a question to various forums a few weeks ago, regarding 'How can SAP, and ASUG WF/BPM serve you better'.  I am summarizing the responses I got below, in hopes that it helps guide you in your quest.  The names have been excluded to protect the identities, but I think there is some very valuable info in here.  Particularly the final point - which I will follow up on with the respondent.
Anyway, you didn't ask for it, but here it is.
    > 1. Have you attended any webcasts related to SAP lately?
No. Not lately, and not ever. (I suppose I am old-fashioned...)
    > 2. Are there any topics related to Workflow and BPM that you think are
    > important for the 'community'?
Integrating workflows and guided procedures - e.g. enhancing existing workflows to use browser interfaces.
    > 3. Looking ahead a year, what do you see as challenges in this area?
Processes that can be executed either in R/3 or in browsers, with information about the process progress etc, as in Guided Procedures. This will probably be the developers nightmare for the next few years.
    1. Have you attended any webcasts related to SAP lately?
-yes I did - quite a few, but mostly on web related stuff and XI.
    2. Are there any topics related to Workflow and BPM that you think are important for the 'community'?
    - personally for me, I still find the guided procedure in Portals not so user friendly and limited. I think more education and influence around GP will be great. I think the community will also appreciate it.
    3. Looking ahead a year, what do you see as challenges in this area?
    - GP and UWL. I think the concept of "IT doing the first time and the business managing their rules" would be challenging. I have not yet seen this happen, especially on the logistics side. There is a session this year on the same topic at TechEd and I look forward to this session. Hopefully it will help us get some insight.
Right now I am struggling with even getting Workflow off the ground and getting the business to understand what Workflow is and trying to have them budget for it. Workflow is still new to the functional group and even getting them to consider Workflow verse alternatives is somewhat of a challenge. I really have had a great consultant that has taken me under his wing and taken the time to teach me. I think we would be a great story for a presentation.
My challenges for the next year, is how to get over the hump of selling workflow to the business and actually getting projects planned out. I don't know if anyone has an anwer to that one. My other challege is how to handle transfer of knowledge and maintaining workflow that has been built by consultants.
    1)  I have not attended many SAP webcasts (just one on Solution Manager in the past few months)  I'm planning on attending one this comming Monday on BPM.
    2) I think understanding UWL / SBWP differences, advantages, limitations on one vs the other, would be an important topic.   Also more information on Extended Notiications
    3) Challenges: Upgrades and impact on WF,  Unicode and WF and having more WF ABAP OO objects delivered by SAP, other than the "Absence Notification" sample.
    1.       I havenu2019t personally attended but as a company we give a webinar once a week and weu2019ve had some great attendance
    2.       Technically I think weu2019re OK. We see the need to tell C-level execs where workflow / BPM can help them in businessu2026.
_3.       Workflow is becoming more and more obscure in the SAP landscapeu2026

  • Is there a way to get a digest mode of this forum?

I was curious.. I see more traffic on here lately than flex coders (I think), and i like to see the topics as they come through (in case I can pick up new knowledge, etc). So there is the option to subscribe to all (to come in via email), but I was wondering if there was a way to emulate a "digest mode" like typical mailing lists.
I guess i can just subscribe to the RSS feed in my mail client too though and not get email notifications - but I will resort to that if there is no option for a digest mode.

    Chris,
The right place to post the issue (and the only place to get help) is the Forum Comments Forum, http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments.
If nothing happens there soon, the next step will be to write a Private Message to Kathy Nguyen, http://forums.adobe.com/people/kanguyen, or John Cornicello, http://forums.adobe.com/people/John%20Cornicello. To do that, you have to:
    1) Save the address link you wish to send the PM to;

  • Adobe Camera Raw forum stickies/announcements/FAQs

This forum is starting to do my head in.  It seems that every other question is the same: why can't I open my raw files?  Sadly enough, I can see why: there's nothing in this forum which answers this basic question.
I know that people could use search if they wanted, but getting the right answer depends on choosing the right words.  It would be a lot simpler if the answer was just up there in bloody big letters.  It could be a "sticky" post at the top of the list, or an "announcement" across the top.  Where is the FAQ?  Damned if I can find it.  Isn't there an admin in this forum?
But, even if this was fixed, I'm afraid that the Photoshop forum mods will just keep dumping the same posts in here, because their users are no wiser.
What a waste of time and effort.

    Yammer P wrote:

Upright resets cropYammer, I don't disagree that the forum structure is less than optimal. I've been hanging here a lot longer than you have and I can't count the number of times I've answered the same darn questions, over and over and over. But, I don't consider it a waste of time and effort to help people...it's just something I do.
I will say I don't like threads from other forums from the other Adobe web site: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family showing up here. I really think that other forum is a bad idea...and really diffuses the efforts of user interaction. I find that forum structure to be completely useless because all "Photoshop Family" stuff is jammed together without and real product differentiation.
But, THIS forum isn't really the place to complain about the various forums…there's a special forum for that (of course :~)
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments
My best advice is to look at the thread topics and don't click on things that don't interest you...you can't control the actions of others, but you can control how you do or don't interact with others...

  • Copy Pasting in Forums

I just saw a thread in ABAP UI where one user, Sowjanya gosala, did a virtually complete copy paste of another reponse by Sowmya Sahadevan in the same thread and then asked for points.
The original response looked like a copy paste from elsewhere so they may have just come from the same source, but the second poster didn't have the sense to check if someone else had already done it.

    Hi.
In such cases: report as abuse! And please write in the abuse notice that you think it is a copy-and-paste answer. And the optimal way is to give a link to the original too. Moderators will then look into it. I'm not into that forum but in ABAP general the result can be seen e.g. in this thread: ddic
And at least I don't accept copy and paste any more. If people do it once they get a warning. If the do it twice they get a new account with a fresh point counter...
