I know that posts offering Apple product feedback have always been an issue, and it's probably just at the usual 'noise' level that it always has been - but it's still irritating.
It's probably also irritating to those people who think that this place is their personal hotline to Steve Jobs. This is a prime example; http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=247765&tstart=50 with implied threats and all!
Yes, there are sporadic links to Apple Feedback pages, but couldn't there be a more specific imprecation at the top of a forum page along the lines: "This Discussions forum is for <product name> users to get answers from other users. If you want to send a suggestion for a feature request to Apple DO NOT post here but follow this link: http://etc"

New forum area for Adobe Interactive forms

Would it be possible to create a separate thread for the adobe interactive forms? Most of the conversations are under the webdynpro forum, but because people refer to this area by so many different names (adobe, ADS, interactive forms) it is really difficult to do a search for anything specific. (also, you cannot distingquish a post between ABAP interactive forms and Webdynpro interactive forms until you are deep into the message).
I think enough folks are starting to use interactive forms that we can get some good topics going!
Also note: the adobe homepage on SDN needs more visibility. It is buried under too many links. I had to email Matthias Zeller to get the url. I lost patience after about 20 minutes of searching.

A last thought/comment:
I just went to the WAS homepage. The link is under FEATURED CONTENT under the black/bold heading Interactive Forms.
I would not equate the adobe home page as "featured content". Now that I have been told, I can find it, but I spent 20 minutes using the forum search to find it and the results were mostly to the help.sap.com links. Maybe a title change under quick links might make it more intuitive.

I am working for active noise control inside a duct, I am using real time application with sampling rate 10 000, max. frequency 1500 Hz and 2 outputs.
I had a DAQ card 6221 M series is this sufficient for this application or I might use another.

No Forum Access For 24hours

I've just got back in after a gap of about 24 hours. No problems with my machine,or the two browsers I use,all other websites worked perfectly,only Adobe was unavailable.
Anyone else have the same problem ? If not any suggestions as to a reason ?

Should we have a FAQ area for forums

My main area of interest is SAP Finance.
I review the forums to answer unaswered questions.
The one thing I have noticed more and more is the same questions keep on getting asked by different users.
The Finance forum has ten's of thousand's of threads, and I am sure 80% of them are duplicates of other threads.
If we reduced the duplicates we could then focus on the real questions and threads that are for new material.
What do you guys think?

Hope all is well. As you know I have been promoting such community regeneration and igniting some passion for true collaboration throughout scn..
My thinking on this is as follows:
We need true collaboration and integration between WIKI and Forums and to change the thinking that they are two seperate etities that need to be addressed seperately.
My proposel is when a customer views the WIKI content such as for example 'What is a Cost Center' and after reading it they want to know how to create a cost center. In my WIKI Spaces they can directly click a link that will direct them to the topic related forums and can enter the thread there. Once the thread has been answered it would then be the responsiblity of the moderators such as myself to repopulate the wiki with such proceedures (and as you propsed the FAQ page) which can also be referenced.
In this way repetitive threads are eliminated and also the forums will help the WIKI contributions to grow and the forums will become more effective and begin to play their true role as feeders for the wiki content.
This is my thinking on the proposed feelings felt widespread throughout the SCN Community and an attempt to provide direction for these proposels and achieve the results that make the SCN Community come alive again and bustle with activity.

iTunes is a free program consequently any support is via these user forums or the on-line documentation. Apple do not provide free technical support except for purchased products. They don't provide email support for iTunes.
If you post your questions and/or any problems giving clear details of what you are attempting to do and any error message(s) you are getting etc. I'm sure someone here will be happy to help.

Go to Appleid.apple.com and choose Manage ID you can change them from there.
You can add a rescue email if you don't have one there too.

Yes, Mozilla is indeed doing very well but they're a bit worried about the IRS audit that is currently going on.
Now, if we take the figure from the 2008 cnet article that 80% of expenses are spent on Mozilla employees as a relatively stable benchmark for 2009, we see that employee salaries averaged out to around $200,000 dollars annually for each employee, which obviously isn't what each employee is actually getting paid, but what it does mean is that given typical corporate scaling of salaries, some folks in this non-profit are making lots and lots of money.
The individuals who should be the most upset about Mozilla's unwillingness to invest even a fraction of its profits into building a real and responsive user support system are the collective-community-driven-volunteers who commit their free time so Mozilla can continue to cash in big time at their expense. I am in the process of expanding a database of chemistry journal articles. These materials are ideally acquired in two formats when both are available-- PDF and HTML. To oversimplify, PDFs are for the user to read, and derivatives of the HTML versions are for the computer to read. Both formats are, of course, readily recognized and indexed by Spotlight. Journal articles have two essential components with regards to a database: the topical content of the article itself, and the cited references to other scientific literature. While a PDF merely lists these references, the HTML version has, in addition, links to the cited items. Each link URL contains the digital object identifier (doi) for the item it points to. A doi is a unique string that points to one and only one object, and can be quite useful if rendered in a manner that enables indexing by Spotlight. Embedded URL's are, of course, ignored by Spotlight. As a result, HTML-formatted articles must be processed so that URL's are openly displayed as readable text before Spotlight will recognize them. Conversion to DOC format using MS Word, followed by conversion to RTF using Text Edit accomplishes this, but is quite labor intensive.
In the last few months, I have added about 3,500 articles to this collection, which means that any procedure for rendering URL's must be automated and able to process large batches of documents with minimal user oversight. This procedure needs to generate a separate file for each HTML document processed. Trials using Automator's "Get Specified Finder Items" and "Get Selected Finder Items", as well as "Ask For Finder Items" (along with "Get URLs From Web Pages") give unsatisfactory results. When provided with multiple input documents, these three commands generate output in which the URLs from multiple input items are merged into a single block, which yields a single file using "Create New Word Document" as the subsequent step. A one-to-one, input file to output file result can be obtained by processing one file at a time, but this requires manual selection of each item and one-at-a-time processing. What I need is a command that accepts multiple input documents, but processes them one at a time, generating a separate output for each file processed. Is there a way for Automator to do this?

With the project all done, i'm preparing for the presentation. Managed to get my hands on a HD beamer for the night (Epason TW2000) and planning to do the presentation in HD.
That of course managed to bring up some problems. I posted a thread which i'll repost here . Sorry for the repost, i normally do not intend to do this, but since this thread is actually about the same thing, i'd like to ask the same question to you. The end version is in AfterEffects, but that actually doesn't alter the question. It's about export:
"I want to export my AE project of approx 30 min containing several HD files to a Blu Ray disc. The end goal is to project the video in HD quality using the Epson EMP-TW2000 projector. This projector is HD compatible.
To project the video I need to connect the beamer to a computer capable of playing a heavy HD file (1), OR burn the project to a BRD (2) and play it using a BRplayer.
I prefer option 2, so my question is: which would be the preferred export preset?
Project specs:
                    - 1920x1080 sq pix (16:9)
                    - 25 fps
                    - my imported video files (Prem.Pro sequences) are also 25 fps and are Progressive (!)
To export to a BRD compatible format, do i not encounter a big problem: my projectfiles are 25 fps and progressive, and I believe that the only Bluray preset dispaying 1920x1080 with 25 fps requests an INTERLACED video (I viewed the presets found on this forum, this thread)... There is also a Progr. format, BUT then you need 30 fps (29,...).
So, is there one dimension that can be changed without changing the content of the video, and if yes which one (either the interlacing or the fps).
I'm not very familiar with the whole Blu-ray thing, I hope that someone can help me out."

Why are my questions blocked with "you may not create or edit content?"

When ever I submit a question, I am told I can not "created or update content" and my query is not accepted. What is going on?

2) Start an auto reloader.
Unless you do something every thirty minutes you get logged out. The forum software waits to tell you this as long as it can to keep you in suspense ;-) .

4) I have a FireFox bookmark to goto the discussions that I have participated in. I've modified it to add on the content stuff.

That would involve dealing with the manufacturers since you are dealing with masks. I don't know of any mask engineers that are in here. I believe either Infinion or Philips provides a kit for masks development. Also check with IBM's JCOP, it's the mask commonly used on major vendor cards.

Once the question is actually seen, someone will (hopefully) respond with either a direct answer or a suggestion on a better forum. Kind of like asking for the best place to get your car fixed when we don't know if you are having a problem with brakes, engine, electrical system, muffler .. . .

Forum label for Server/Client

Mac OS X Server posts frequently end up in the Mac OS X Client forum. Perhaps a link in the Client forum to the Server category could help, or labelling the Client 10.6, 10.5, 10.4, 10.3 and earlier forums "Client" so people don't mispost anything for Server could help prevent posts for Server ending up in Client?
Or perhaps a Server category could be put together with the Mac OS X and related software?
Or perhaps in the Mac OS X support pages, a link to Server category could be added?
Just some suggestions.

Except for rare exceptions the forum and category names match the actual product marketing name. The server forums are marked as server and we will happily move the occasional post that shows up in the client section when it occurs.
