Forwarding? Relaying? Redirecting???

We have just emplyed a developer and he is setting up a system for us.
What he needs is for Groupwise to "redirect" email to a certain account to an IP address.
E.G. [email protected] to be forwarded to 192.168.1.1
Is this possible?

On the 192.168.1.1 server so that it accepts mail for it.

  • Forwarded or Redirected message is garbled

    Some emails that I receive are readable in Mail but when they are forwarded, the message is just line after line of garbled text like this: U291bmRzIGdyZWF0IHRvIG1lDQoNCkx1bmNodGltZSBtZ... (etc. it goes on for ages)
    I see exactly the same when I view the message as "Raw Source" and I have discovered that this is Base64 encoding however this is clearly being ignored when Mail forwards or redirects the message.
    So can anyone suggest a fix for this? Perhaps an Applescript that converts the message correctly before forwarding?
    MacBook and iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I get a similar thing - manual Redirects fine but Redirect-by-rule results in odd characters displaying - it's basically fine but british £ and the euro symbol don't render properly..... so interested to know if you solved it.

  • Difference between forward and redirect

    difference between forward and send redirect

    + a Redirect will change the URL in the browser, whereas a forward will not.
    + a Redirect can be any URL, whereas a forward has to be directed to a resource within the container,
    + a Redirect MUST be an absolute URL (though the Servlet functions will do this for you).
    + a Redirect, being a new request, triggers filters, whereas a forward does not.

  • Action forward for redirect

    I have an website application. We are using Weblogic server.
    The application is an online purchase payment gateway. The payment gateway is done by a third party.
    Languages used : Struts, JSP and JAVA
    i created one jsp(confirmPaymnt.jsp) like this and run from my server machine.
    it is able to connect to the third party site and is able to pass values too(http://168.183.169.195).
    confirmPaymnt.jsp:      -------------------
           <form name ="myform" action="http://168.183.169.195/Payment/eNetMainAPI.aspx" method="post" >
                    <input type="hidden" name="merchant" id="merchant" value='<%= udb.getMerchant() %>'/ >
                       <input type="hidden" name="transaction_id" id="transaction_id" value='<%= udb.getTransaction_id() %>'/ >
                       <input type="hidden" name="amount" id="amount" value='<%= udb.getPrice() %>'/ >
              <input name="processpage" type="hidden" value="http://www.octopusplus.com/process.do" id="processpage" style="width:733px;" />
                        <input type="hidden" name="sec_key" id="sec_key" value='<%= udb.getSeckey() %>'/ >
                        <input type="hidden" name="op_post" id="op_post" value="false" />
           </html:form> If I try from some other machine, it is not running Since this url is for payment transaction ,they are configure with our server machine to third pary server machine.
    So all the request to their server (http://168.183.169.195) needs to go throughour server.
    So i tried like this in Struts-config.xml <action  path="/redirectparam" type="com.hmh.action.RedirectParamAction"
            name="redirectparamForm
            input="/redirectparam.jsp"
            validate="false"
            scope="request">
            <forward name="success"  path="http://168.183.169.195/Payment/eNetMainAPI.aspx" redirect="true"/>
         </action>
      {code}
      this is also not going with parameters.
      please give me any  solution.

    One more requirement is that the parmeter to be passed needs to be in hidden format. when i tested , the parameters are shown in the address bar
    ActionRedirect redirectActn=new ActionRedirect(mapping.findForward("success"));
          redirectActn.addParameter("merchant",merchant);
          redirectActn.addParameter("transaction_id",transaction_id);

          redirectActn.addParameter("UDF1",UDF1);
          redirectActn.setPath("http://test/Merchant/Payment/eNetCpgMainAPI.aspx");

  • Forward o Redirect di dati a pagina esterna

    Ciao a tutti....avrei bisogno di un aiuto da gente che ne s di jsp (io non sono uno di questi....) :dh:
    ho una pagina jsp che utilizzo solo per il passaggio di dati....cio ho una pagina index.jsp con un form in cui andranno inseriti dei valori....una volta inseriti verranno passati tramite post alla call.jsp che semplicemente mi serve che faccia un redirect a una pagina esterna (tipo http://199.199.199.199/Test/test.jsp) portandosi dietro i valori che ha ottenuto in post dalla index.jsp.......ho provato in vari modi
    RequestDispatcher disp = request.getRequestDispatcher("http://199.199.199.199/Test/test.jsp");
    disp.forward(request,response);
    ma leggendo ho trovato che il RequestDispatcher pu reindirizzare solo a pagine sullo stesso server.....allora ho provato con una semplice redirect
    response.sendRedirect("http://199.199.199.199/Test/test.jsp");
    e questa mi manda alla pagina test.jsp giusta.....per non si porta dietro niente (cio non si porta dietro i valori che gli erano stati passati in post precedentemente)......qualcuno ha un idea di come potrei fare???? tramite tag jsp lo saprei fare e in locale funziona....ma ho bisogno che mi venga fatto o da script java che butter dentro la jsp........perch parte di un progetto pi ampio che utilizza server weblogic, bus aqualogic,chiamate javascript etc....quindi per vari motivi non posso farlo con tag jsp (quindi creando un altro form che passi i dati in post per intenderci)
    <% ????????? %>
    Spero che qualcuno mi sappia aiutare.....grazie mille.ciao

  • Losing AM State when redirect="true" on struts forward

    Works fine on embedded server.
    Deploy to 10.1.2 OC4J stand-alone. Viola AM and session lost when redirect="true" on a forward....any ideas?

    Thanks, silk.
    That may be a possibility. I'm not sure I want the
    client to have to make a second request,Isn't that what you mentioned in the OP ? ... if the
    clients hit
    your page, but you really want them to go somewhere
    else,
    you have to do it client-side ..
    I thought that was the difference between forward and
    redirect: forwarding is handled server side, and
    redirecting is a response back to the client telling
    him to go somewhere else. Ggainey said he thought you
    could only forward locally. Are you confirming that
    that's the case?what i was talking about was that even forwarding locally is done client
    side; http-headers, no? i was suggesting that the idea of using a HttpConnection,
    obviously, would not make that client go there, the server would ...
    and I'd
    rather have just the XML by itself, without itbeing
    something's value.Not sure what you mean here, if you are 'posting'it,
    it
    has to be a value...I don't think so. Yes, you're right, i don't know what i was thinking when i wrote that.
    If the only way to avoid a huge nasty roll-my-own is
    to send the XML as a value, then I guess I can do it.Perhaps you could look into the way files are uploaded via html;
    and hook your xml up to that instead of as a plain-old form value...?
    depending on how large your xml-file is this is probably the most
    appropriate way to go ...
    This raises the next question: What do I have to do to
    the XML to make it behave nicely as the RHS of value=?htmlEncode it; basically the double quotes just need to be " or whatever the
    appropriate html code is. (note it will need to be reversed on the other side).
    (of course, if you are going the file route; it will be in base64 form.)

  • Problem whith redirect = "true" and portal

    Hi!
    I was trying to use a @jpf:forward with redirect="true" in a pageflow of my portal,
    nevertheless, when it makes redirect, it opens outside the Portal, in a new page, I I need that I make everything within he himself Portal. How I can do this? thanks.
    [email protected]

    I think the redirect attribute only works when used in non portal pageflows. you will have to generate the (portal friendly) URL's yourself and redirect using the response object.
    I believe you can use the url templates defined in url-template-config and a BEA class called GenericURL i think but ive never tried it

  • MARS 110, can I forward alerts to other systems? e.g. Netcool

    Hi,
    We have deployed MARS 110 and have 2 questions.
    1. Can I monitor the MARS appliance it self via SNMP? Where do I configure SNMP community strings?
    2. Can I forward alerts(not all messages but just the alerts) to our netcool system via a trap or syslog for ticket integration? If yes, how?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

    1. MARS does not support to-the-box SNMP
    2. It can only forward/relay ALL Syslogs to any third-part device, not selective events. You can forward incidents to e-mail addresses tough  (Via regular email or XML)

  • Listening on port for forwarding

    Hi all,
    I have to create a servlet that listens on a port for a request to go to a certain website. I'm not sure if the initial link will send the request over port 80, or if I'll have a unique port to listen to.
    I'll have to parse out the destination address and then update the link to another address.
    Then I'll have to send the request back on its way.
    What are some of the basics to get me on my way?
    Does this make sense?
    Thanks all!

    Hey there, thanks for tracking me down again. :)
    I'm new to servlets and the whole javax.servlet package. I'm reading on the tutorial at http://www.ictp.trieste.it/~manuals/programming/Java/tutorial/servlets/overview/architecture.html
    and it's giving me some good info, but I was assuming that everyone here could lend me a hand as well.
    Basically, I have a server where all the requests on port 80 will be to an internal database. Let's say the initial link the consumer calls is: http://DOCS/training/this_doc.pdf
    I have to transparently catch this request and forward (not redirect, because I need the url in the address bar to be the initial link) to.. let's say:
    http://NEWDOCS/newtraining/this_new_doc.pdf
    (the actual new server isn't know yet, but irrelevant to the overall issue.. I believe?)
    I believe that this should be a very easy task.. but I'm not sure yet....
    Thanks again,
    ryan

  • AppleScript, Mail.app - Forward command doubles content - Mountain Lion

    I'm trying to write an AppleScript to Forward or Redirect an email. It works fine but doubles up the content when I change any of the new emails details. Eg the subject, 'to recipient', etc.
    My code is:
    tell application "Mail"
              set theSelection to selection
              set theForwardedMessage to forward (item 1 of theSelection) with opening window
              tell theForwardedMessage
                             set subject to "{plain} " & subject
              end tell
    end tell
    This is under Mountain Lion, 10.8.2, Mail.app is version 6.2 (1499).
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    TIA, James.

    Thanks Pierre. That's really helpful.
    On its own that didn't work, but if I put in a 'display dialog' command it does. Ie this works:
    tell application "Mail"
              set theSelection to selection
              set theForwardedMessage to forward (item 1 of theSelection) with opening window
              set theSubject to subject of theForwardedMessage
      activate
              tell application "System Events" to tell process "Mail"
      display dialog "1"
                        tell text field "Subject:" of window 1
                                  set focused to true
                                  set value to "{plain} " & theSubject
                        end tell
              end tell
    end tell
    I also want the recipient filled in, but it doesn't work for me. In this code it displays the 'A' dialog then stops:
    tell application "Mail"
              set theSelection to selection
              set theForwardedMessage to forward (item 1 of theSelection) with opening window
              set theSubject to subject of theForwardedMessage
      activate
              tell application "System Events" to tell process "Mail"
      display dialog "1"
                        tell text field "Subject:" of window 1
                                  set focused to true
                                  set value to "{plain} " & theSubject
                        end tell
                        tell text field "To:" of window 1
      display dialog "A"
                                  set focused to true
      display dialog "B"
                                  set value to "[email protected]"
                        end tell
              end tell
    end tell
    Ie it never gets to the 'B' dialog.
    So perhaps that field is called something else? How do you find out what the 'To:' field is called?
    Thanks,
    James.

  • Forwarding e-mail W/O Disclosing Previous Recipients

    When I want to pass on text e-mail I copy & paste text into a new e-mail - that does not show previous recipients. However, when an e-mail has attachments - the copy and paste does not always work. I would like to forward all e-mails without disclosing previous recipients. I have looked in Mail Help & Preferences - if it is in there - I didn't "get it".
    Thanks Bob61

    "Redirect" is the same way, by the way. It is editable, just like "Forward". "Redirect" does not show up as part of the default toolbar set -- you have to go under Mail's menubar to View > Customize Toolbar to add Redirect icon to your toolbar. If not familiar with it, "redirect" retains original sender info when recipient receives it -- although both long and short header info in recipient's received message indicates it as a redirect from your account.

  • Forward a request with post data to another webApp

    Hello,
    I have a servlet that recieves data by post. I need to forward that request with the same info it recieves to another webApp in a different EAR
    I know it is possible to forward that request to another servlet in the same webapp, how to do that but to a different webApp in post method (No get method, do no sendRedirect)?
    Thanks.
    Jean-Philippe

    ServletContext otherContext =
    context.getContext("/otherWebApp");
    RequestDispatcher dispatcher =
    otherContext.getRequestDispatcher("/otherServlet");
    dispatcher.forward(request, response);Interesting. If I read this correctly you CAN actually use RequestDispatcher.forward() to redirect a user after they've contacted the web-server? i.e. Using the otherContext will cause the response that the web-server generates to come from /otherWebApp? That's cool...

  • Alternative Forward Command Required

    Folks,
    Quickie..
    Is there an alternative to <jsp:forward... e.g.
    <%
    session = request.getSession(true);
    String loggedON = (String) session.getAttribute("loggedON");
    if ((loggedON.compareTo("false") == 0))
         { %> <jsp:forward page="logonrequired.jsp" /> <%}%>
    Syntax wise it is a pain to use <jsp:forward... in this way... is there an alternative that I can use within the <% tags
    Thanks
    Angus

    I guess you could use RequestDispatcher.forward(), but I never tried that in a JSP page... but I would imagine that jsp:forward just translates to use that anyway...
    Or request.sendRedirect() is another similar method, but I'll assume you know the difference between forwards and redirects.

  • Use commandLink to forward non-jsf page cause other commandLink invalidate

    Hi :
    I use commandLink to forward to non jsf page , after click the link , it worked , success to 1.jsp. Then I click another link , the other commandLink doesn't work.
    any one have the same problem ?
    JSF page:
    <h:commandLink action="#{MenuHandler.go}">
         <h:outputText value="process" />
         <f:param value="1.jsp" name="forward" />
    </h:commandLink>
    MenuHandler.java
      public static String go() {
                HttpServletRequest req = getRequest();
                String forward = req.getParameter("forward");
                getExternalContext().redirect(forward);
                FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().responseComplete();
                return "success";
      }ps:there is one <h:form/> in my jsf page and I use:
    jdk1.5.0
    jsf-1_1
    Tomcat-5.0.28

    to supplement:
    I found something strange:
    The JSF page I used is for menu purpose.
    So there is a <BASE target="mainFrame"> tag in my JSF page.
    If I mark it . Then other commandLink can work ~~
    Because the page is a menu page , so I can't mark the <BASE target="mainFrame">
