Frame iconification freezes other application under Windows NT

Hi,
Here is a small problem I am experiencing and that makes my programs go wrong:
I work with SDK 1.4.x under Win NT SP5 and SP6.
When I iconify my application, which is a single frame, all my computer is frozen during a few seconds (this can last more than 10 seconds in some cases).
When I have two frames into one Java app, if I iconify the first one, it iconifies in less than 1 second. But if then I iconify the second one, it freezes also.
So, is it a bug ? Is there any way to work around this ?
I only noticed that if I iconified several times a Frame, freezing time decreased after two or three times. But if I use my application and reiconify it later, freezing time becomes greater.

at the swt version you have..We've seen issues like this before.. Simple update of swt and the problem went away. Worth a try. Good luck

  • Accsess to other application's window.

I don't know how my java program can read the chat field in other application.
If someone can tell me how can I read attributes in other application's windows I will be very thankful.

Java is a [high level language|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-level_programming_language] and runs in its own environment on the host operating system. C++ is a [low level language|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-level_programming_language] and has access to more of the system's internals.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended freezes on startup under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit - No splash screen

I installed my licensed copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended today as part of my install a bunch of software after a reinstall of Windows (due to viruses).  I did a completely fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  I've used Photoshop CS3 Extended for quite a while now so I know what to expect on startup but it was previously installed under Windows XP Professional (32-bit). Figured I would give Windows 7 a chance this time around.
Google searches aren't turning up anything.  When I attempt to start the application, I get a window with the title "Adobe Photoshop CS3" (no "Extended" - I seem to recall the title changes later) and the toolbar appears.  However, no splash screen appears and no Product Activation wizard appears - the application simply freezes on an empty frame and a toolbar.  I've tried running Photoshop as Administrator (right-click, "Run As Administrator"), but nothing changed there.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I tried upgrading to CS3 10.0.1.  Nothing works.  The application simply freezes before it gets anywhere.
I tried calling Adobe Support since this technically falls under installation issues but their phone support systems are down today.  Go figure.
Edit:  I hooked into Photoshop with the Visual Studio debugger and every single thread is executing some variation of WaitForSingleObject() or WaitForMultipleObjects().  The main thread is "executing" somewhere in AdobeLM_libFNP.dll (at address 09619d81 - if I had debugging symbols for CS3, I could provide a function).  There are nine threads "running" at the point the freeze occurs - but all of them are technically suspended due to the functions they are executing - and one thread is in a suspended state.

And, according to the Event Viewer, the "Binary" data translates to a zero-terminated Unicode string of "Cross-thread".
My Visual Studio analysis was far more informative.  All threads are hung inside of WaitForSingleObject() and WaitForMultipleObjects() calls and the DLL in question appears to be FlexNet-related.  I did forget to mention that I also even manually started the FlexNet service in case, for some strange reason, Photoshop was waiting for it to start.  That also did not work.
(And there is nothing in the Action Center control panel either despite the message saying there might be more information there.)
Edit:  The timestamp above might be a little odd-looking.  I didn't originally see anything in Event Viewer until I clicked the first button to send an Error Report.  Mostly I just skipped that part of killing a process.

  • IR Error: OUT of Memory. Close other applications or windows and try again.

    Hi,
We recently moved from an 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.3. and working on IR reports. While running few reports we get this error and the client system has GB or ram and the server is allocated 4 GB or ram for IR reports.
I see the file it is trying to retrieve is about 800 Mega something like that ..... Not able to decide where to check next ...
    Any thought will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

There are many different conditions in which this error may appear:
    (1) Upon opening a legacy non-Unicode BQY file in a Unicode compatible version of Interactive Reporting.
    (2) When processing a query multiple times against a BLOB.
    (3) When querying against Red Brick version 6.3 with ODBC/ODBC setting and there is  processing to convert string column to integer type (before IR 9.3.0).
    (4) When processing with DB2 9.1 against a bigint data type.
    (5) Repeated opening, processing, closing, and re-opening of BQY documents with 'not equal' joins and high volumes
Sometimes this is due to excessive data which brings the size of the BQY file up around one gigabyte uncompressed in size (for processing may take twice as actual RAM, plus the memory space space for the plugin, and the typical memory limit on a 32-bit system is 2 gigabytes).
There have been a number of unpublished bugs which can result in the same error.
    Solution
To avoid excessive BQY size exceeding memory availability:
    (a) Ensure that your computer has at least 2Gb of free RAM before he runs IR Studio.
    (b) Put a limit to the number of rows that can be pulled down: Right click on Request label of Query section and put a value in Return First xxx Rows (and check the check box).
    (c) Do not pull down more than 750 MB of data (remember it may be duplicated while processing).
    (d) Place limits or aggregations in Query section (as opposed to Result section) to limit data entering the BQY

  • How to bring windows of other application to top

    Hi,
Does anyone knows how to give the focus to other application's window using Java?

You can do it using JNI. Also, to do it you need to know window handle of the other application.

  • Mac doesn't boot after splitting BOOTCAMP drive under Windows 8.1

Macbook pro mid 2012, OS X Mavericks
I've installed Windows 8.1 x64 using Bootcamp assistant. In Windows I went to Disk Management and shrank drive C: from 200 GB to 94 GB and created a new drive D: from unallocated space.
After restart Windows doesn't boot giving some error and quickly restart. If I hold "Option" key I see only Windows. Mac OS X disappeared.
    How to fix?

So, I've tried 1001 ways to recover. Nothing worked. Interned Recovery gives -2002F error. Macbook pro 2012 can't boot from bootable DVD to use DiskWarrior, Drive Genius or similar. It can't boot from OS X Lion install DVD. I had only Windows PC to fix this. So
I asked a friend with latest Mavericks(which I had too) to make a Recovery USB and make a DMG file from it and send me over internet. Then I used the TransMac application under Windows and burned DMG on my USB stick. My god it worked. After 2 days of struggle I found this solution. I was able to boot from this USB stick into Recovery Mode and from there I can reinstall Mac Os X Mavericks. Somehow it sees my Ethernet cable and doesn't give error.
Note: that Disk Utility wasn't able to recover partitions. I tried to run DiskWarrior from terminal but it gave me an error. TestDisk didn't run too. So I'm doing a clean installation.
I could recover or backup my files using Paragon Mac Recovery Bootable DVD, but there was no need since it's my new macbook and I didn't have much files there.
Windows had changed the HD partition map from GUID Partition Table(GPD) to MBR. And made HD a "dynamic disk". This is why Mac Os wasn't able to boot.
If anyone knows how to convert a disk back to GPD and make Mac OS able to boot please let me know. I'm still installing Mac Os X on USB stick and didn't change my HD.

  • Adobe Acrobat as a component of the application in Windows 8 in Metro Style

    Hello
I am making an application under Windows 8 in Metro Style.
I try to include in my application PDF-reader.
How can I use Adobe Reader for this purpose.
If I have to buy a license, I'm ready to do it.

Unfortunately, due to limitations of Win8 Metro, you can’t use Adobe Reader in that way.
If you need a PDF viewer/reader component for Win8, you’ll need to license our “Adobe Reader Mobile SDK”.

  • Installing a Java Application under  Win2000

    Hi,
I would like to automate the installation of a Java Application under Windows 2000, so that the user is prompted for a destination folder and the application appears in his Start->Games folder.
Shoud I use install Shield or can I use something java based for this purpose. In any case can you point me to material on the web that discuss these types of topics.
    Thanks.

ZeroG software has a great Installer for Java. It creates installers for Unix, Windows, MacOS and others. http://www.zerog.com.
They have a free installer also; its light on features but has worked really well for us for simple gui apps.

  • Executable Code Speed Vs. Development Environment Code Speed under windows 7

    Hi,
I implemented a "closed loop" type controller in Labview 2012 running on windows 7 to control a motor speed. In my code, I have a main loop that first measures data using a PCI daq card, and then processes the data, and then output data to another PCI daq card. The main loop is set to run at 100Hz. So, 100 times a second I read data, then process the data, then output new data. I am using the Input daq card timing to sync the main loop to 100Hz. When I run this code in the Labview development environment, it seems to run just fine and is able to keep up with the 100hz loop time with no apparent lag. but when I create an executable and run it (on the same machine), it initially appears to run at 100Hz but soon after that it starts to slow down to about 10hz or less. This is causing issues with my motor control. I set the priority of the application under windows task manager to real time (which is the highest option available) to force Windows to let it run as fast as possible but it didn't seem to help much. I compared using a while loop and a timed while loop and found that the while loop ran faster when creating the executable. Any thoughts on what to do to make the executable run faster and why does this happen?
    Thanks

    Can you post the code?
A wild guess is that there's some array growing wildly causing memory issues, and if you let the program run for a while longer it'll crash with out of memory error.
Is the program only supposed to feed data from one card to the other?

  • Firefox does not "close" when closed under Windows 7; Task Manager must be used to "End Process." How do I close Firefox and reopen it without getting a "Still Running" error message?

Even though Firefox has been updated multiple times (currently using Ver. 3.6.13) since I started using Windows 7, I am still unable to totally close it from the toolbar or taskbar. Firefox does closeout on the screen but apparently continues to run in the background. If I open Firefox at a later time, I get an error message stating that Firefox is still running. I then have to go Task Manager to "End Process." Electing to do so allows me to restart Firefox. I never had this problem with Firefox when using Windows XP and I never have this problem with any other software under Windows 7.

  • Problem in copying a text item content in forms 10.1.2 to other application

    Hi all,
I have just upgraded my Form server 6i in Windows 2003 to to Application server 10.1.2 in Linux.
In previos version Application Users Used to Copy some texts from other Applications like Windows NotePad or Client/server Version of Application to webforms text items or vice versa.
In Application 10g it doesnt work. whithin the webforms we can copy and past content of texts but within Applications It doesnt wirk at all.
we are running Forms 10.1.2 on Windows XP, using windows IE as the browser.
Does Forms 10.1.2 use its Own clipboard?
does anybody know any workaround to solve the problem?
    thank you in advance.
    Alireza

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for your attention,
I Think it's not the certification mater, because in development environment I have Stand alone OC4j installed in Windows Xp witch uses the same version of Jinitiator and copy/paste functionality works fine.
Surprisingly when I connect to application server 10.1.2 witch is installed in Enterprise Linux from the same PC the functionality does not work.
I cheked windows clipbord before and after running the form application from and noticed that copy/paste mechanism of form doesnt effect windows clipbord ant it somehow uses a private clipboard within itself.
Any solution would highly be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Camera under Windows 10

    Hi,
I'm interested in knowing how camera works under Windows 10.
My understanding store app will lost camera when user switch to other app under Windows 8. I did a quick test under Windows 10 desktop mode, it seems to work the same way. My question is, for app like video communication, that means users
can't have video call and working on something else at the same time with store app. Or am I missing something?

For the video call scenario take a look at the Real-time communication sample. This allows a video call alongside another app on Windows 8.1 as

  • 3000 N200 Bluetooth "unavaillable" under Windows XP SP3.

    Hi !
Yesterday, I ran Windows XP  (I normally use Fedora 9 on my laptop) just to use a tool to make an upgrade to my cell phone. The supplied tool needs bluetooth and windows XP to run, so I was obliged. It was month since last boot of XP and bluetooth use.
SO I first upgraded XP to "Mandatory upgrades" and upgraded the virus checker. Took some time.
Then I started the phone app which said that bluetooth was unavailable. The icon shows red in the task bar. I checked all I could in windows and gave up.
Then I restarted the computer and tried to connect to the phone under Linux. Bluetooth was fine and working like a charm on first attempt. So, what should I check/install restart to make bluetooth run on this machine under XP ?
Thanks a lot for your help !

In Safe Mode, the brightness is also adjustable. Tried to run with USB-Flash Disk ubuntu - without installing any additional software or brightness is adjustable. Also, all the shortcuts work on Windows 7 pre-Starter. Only now under Windows XP brightness is not adjustable (plus some more keys). But the other work under Windows XP (volume for example).

  • I am having problems with migration assistant (windows pc to Mac 2011) When I get to the 'Quit other applications' box and click continue, nothing happens. There are no other apps running - any ideas, please?

I am having probems with migration assistant. Trying to transfer data from a windows laptop to iMac 2011. It was working fine when I did the set-up yesterday, but it was going to take hours to transfer some videos so I quit the process with the intention of doing it again at a later stage. However today I find that everytime I get to the 'Quit other applications' box on the Mac and click 'continue', nothing happens. Have checked mission control and confirmed no other apps running. Tried several times with the same result every time. Migration Assistant running on my laptop with the 'Waiting for mac to connect' box displayed. Mac is connected to wi-fi OK as able to use Safari and access internet. Any ideas, please?

Thanks for your suggestions. Have managed to get Migration Assistant working but now have a new problem, i.e. where does it save the transferred files?!! Searched a few forums and it seems it saves it under your old username, or suchlike. Anyway I tried logging on as a new user using my old user name but there were only a handful of files there, couldn't locate the majority of stuff from my old laptop. Anyway I don't intend to go through any more hoops with MA - will just save the important stuff to an external drive and transfer it that way. Not impressed with MA at all. I thought it was supposed to be a user-friendly tool to simplify the transfer from pc to Mac - not my experience, I'm afraid!
