We confirmed that the users that are experiencing this have not shared their calendars other than EXEC Assistants.  This only occurs for users that have been migrated to Office 365.
Any suggestions?

The On-premise environment is Exchange 2007.  Here is the current config:
Exchange 2007 >> Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 (Hybrid) >> Office 365

  • Outlook Free/Busy Calender Details

My manager wants to see  Free/Busy Calender Details when setting up meetings with our team, how can I give him rights to have this?
    Thanks
    Pat

    Pat,
Leif-Arne's script will modify the permissions if the manager already has rights to the calendars.  However, if the manager has a direct report who hasn't granted any access to him, it will need a slight modification.  Here's an updated script
that will handle the add rights where they don't already exist, while modifying them if they do.  I'm using Leif-Arne's script as the basis, but I'm simplifying it in places to streamline the code.
    $ManagerAlias = (Get-Mailbox "UserName").Alias
    (Get-User $ManagerAlias).DirectReports | Sort Name | Get-Mailbox | Sort Alias | % {
        $Calendar = Get-MailboxCalendarFolder -Identity "$($Mailbox.SamAccountName):\Calendar"
Add-MailboxFolderPermission $Calendar.Identity -User $ManagerAlias -AccessRights LimitedDetails -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Set-MailboxFolderPermission $Calendar.Identity -User $ManagerAlias -AccessRights LimitedDetails -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Note the last two lines of code are using the -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
parameter. This saves code where you would check for the manager's name in the list of accounts that currently have rights on the mailbox. If his name isn't in the list, it will be added by the first of these statements. If it is, the first statement
will throw an error, but it will be ignored. The second will always succeed, since the manager's name will by this point always be in the list.  However, since there is a chance that the second command may be run against a different domain controller,
it may throw an error.  In this case, the error handling is there just in case.  I will add that when it uses the same domain controller, you will probably get a warning that nothing has changed on the mailbox.  These can be ignored - if you
have PowerShell 2, you can't block them successfully.

  • Outlook 2010/Shared calendar showing as busy/no detail

Hi, user has editor access to another user's calendar yet only free/busy information is showing.
The primary user's profile also has a second exchange account on it. Thought this account might be limiting things so gave it editor access as well. Still, only busy information is shown on calendar.
Anything else to check? Thanks in advance-

    Hi,
Create a new Outlook profile for the user to test the issue again.
    1. Exit Outlook.
    2. Go to Start > Control Panel, click or double-click Mail.
    3. Click Show Profiles. Choose Prompt for a profile to be used.
    4. Click Add.
    5. Type a name for the profile, and then click OK.
    6. Highlight the profile, and choose Properties. Then Email Accounts.., add your email account in the profile.
    7. Start Outlook, and choose this new profile.
If this problem does not occur in the new Outlook profile, the old Outlook is corrupted. We can delete that and use a new Outlook profile.

  • Why are my meeting details visibile to everyone even though I am only showing read Free/Busy time?

Super frustrating that everyone can see the details of my calendar. My permissions are set on default to Permission Level "Free/Busy time and read to Free/Busy time. I dont understand what is happening.

    Hi,
If you have granted some users specific permissions to your calendar, they may be able to see the calendar details according to their permissions.
For other users, their permission is Default: in your scenario it's "Free/Busy time", which means they can only see when you are free and busy, but can't see the event details. If these users still can see the event details, we may suspect
the permission displayed in your Outlook is incorrect, please create a new Outlook profile to setup the account, check if the permission displays differently.
Or we can check the actual permission on the Exchange level. If you need help with this, I suggest you ask in the Exchange forum:

    Inderjit

    Hi Inderjit,
Does this issue occur on only one user or all users?
If only one user has this issue, I suggest performing troubleshooting on Outlook client first.
    1. Please run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
    2. Please start Outlook with "outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy".
    3. Please try to re-create profile to refresh the caches.
Then please perform troubleshooting on Exchange server side.
    1. This issue may occured due to mailbox corruption in the folder level.
    2. Genrally we can check the mailbox property PR_FreeBUsy_NT_SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR and verify the permission.
    3. I suggest re-granding the specific user permission for testing.
    4. I suggest moving the sepcific user's mailbox to another database, issues will solved by itself automatically.
If all users have this issue, I suggest resetting the permission on Calendar folder and give the necessary permissions (Free Busy Time/ Free Busy Details /Full Details) via Exfolders.

  • No Free/Busy Information for Exchange 2010 users in Outlook 2010 client, 2010 OWA shows this information fine

I have looked for hours and hours on Google and this web site for this type of issue and nothing seems to help.
    Problem:
On my new Windows 2008 R2 /Exchange 2010 server with IIS7 installed, I can use Outlook 2010 client to login and send and receive e-mail but when I try to busy search internal Exchange users I get no information (cross-hatch), but the sender of the Meeting Request
can see their own free/busy information fine.  And OWA users can see free/busy information fine, as can Outlook 2003 client users against this Exchange 2010 server when logged in.
I don't know if I have a certificate problem with regard to IIS7 or Exchange 2010, I did not create my own certificate , it is just what was installed by default when I installed and configured Win2K8 server, IIS7 and Exchange.
On the Windows 7 workstations with Outlook 2010 client, I am not logging into the Exchange 2010 server DNS domain, if that makes any difference.  On these workstations I can ping "autodiscover.my.exchange.server.com" and my.exchange.server.com
with no problem.  I even used this Microsoft KB to install a new _autodiscover dns entry, but it did not help :
When I turn on logging on my Outlook 2010 client, I see this in my C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\1\outlook logging\20131208-135658864-fb.log :

    Hi,
How many users encounter this issue, all users with Outlook 2010 or some specific users?
According to your post, the Error code 600 indicates that your Autodiscover service is working well. as for the certificate mismatch issue, we can also following the KB below to resolve it:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940726/en-us
The Free/Busy information in Exchange 2010 is using the Availability service to
    retrieve it. Please directly access
https://mail.mydomain.ae/EWS/Exchange.asmx in IE and see whether a proper XML file is returned.
     Or we can go to

I purchased an upgrade inside the free app, however it shows I paid for the free app & now I can not download the full version.  What should I do?
    Thanks!
    Kristine

Finish the download on your computer in iTunes and then sync the app to the iPad and then delete it. You will probably have to let it fully download before you can delete it.
You can try restarting the iPad and see if the download will resume - Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Yoy can try  this as well and see if the download will resume. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Look in iTunes and see if there is a pending download in there that might be causing the delay. If there is a download there, try to finish that one first.

  • Outlook 2003 Free/Busy only shows 2 months for users on Exchange 2010

    Hi,
We are moving to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003 and have noticed that users who have been created on or migrated to Exchange 2010 who also use Outlook 2003 can only see 2 months worth of free busy information.
After doing some testing this is only an issue if the user who is looking at the free busy is located on Exchange 2010 and they are using Outlook 2003.  It doesn't matter if the mailboxes they are looking at are on Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2010.
If the user uses Outlook 2007 they see free/busy past 2 months.
We configure Outlook to publish 12 months of free/busy.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
According to your description, the issue only happens in Outlook 2003 but not in other Outlook versions. Please check whether there is the Auto Accept Agent installed in your Exchange server. This issue occurs when you register the Auto Accept Agent to process
meeting requests for the affected mailbox.
Here is a KB related to this issue. Please follow it to configure the period for which you want to publish Free/Busy information in a registry entry on the Microsoft Exchange Server on which you have installed the Auto Accept Agent:
The published Free/Busy information for a mailbox is displayed for the default period of two months after you have configured a longer period in Outlook
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917687
The free/busy publish range reverts back to the default setting when you direct book a resource in Outlook 2003
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905817
Additionally, I recommend you upgrade your Outlook 2003 clients to Outlook 2010/2013 for better working. Because Microsoft ended support for Office 2003 on April 8, 2014.

  • Free/Busy Error from Exchange Online Cloud Mailbox to on-premise

Hi, have a successful federation configured between Exchange 2010 SP3 (latest Roll up) and Office 365. This is to allow free/busy lookups during various migration stages (this is not Exchange Hybrid). Autodiscover works well and all functions work ok.
On-premise users can see cloud users free/busy
Cloud users cannot see on-premise users free/busy.
All local based free/busy works on-premise and in the cloud.
The Exchange Connectivity tool returns the below error from all accounts, this is the only error:
(A wildcard certificate is in use and am wondering if this could be contributing to the problem as I have seen this once before)

    Kind Regards, Antonio.

Yep, indeed it does, except the password works when carrying out an autodiscover test, when testing free/busy that error appears. Lookups for free/busy work from on-premise to cloud, cloud to on-premise does not work unless you explicitly allow permissions
on a user basis. The on-premise Exchange 2010 SP3 environment is using an external wildcard cert and thought this could be causing the issue, may consider updating to SAN based. What do you think?

  • How to share only free/busy info in iCloud calendars?

I currently use Google Calendar to manage my calendars, with some calendars fully shared (view full event details, read/write) with my wife.
I also have been sharing my availability with non-Mac using clients and external partners using Tungle (and am transitioning to TimeBridge, www.timebridge.com now that RIM killed Tungle).  Similarly, my wife currently shares free/busy info in her personal calendar with a work colleague who is on Google Calendars as well so he can see her availability even when it is affected by non-work events.
Lately we've been having increasing trouble with random Google sync issues, so I'm considering switching to iCloud calendar sharing instead.
We would like to continue sharing free/busy info with some people, and from what I've read iCloud doesn't have this sort of functionality.  Even when a calendar is shared publicly, people can view all event details -- something we definitely DON'T want clients or work colleagues to have full access to.
Is there any way to sync my iCloud calendars into a third-party site like TimeBridge or even Google Calendars so that I can share only my availability externally?  Or any other workaround?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, his Mac is not local to me. I would have to drive about 30 miles each way, which is not too bad, but I won't have time to do it for a couple of weeks and I am hoping an easier solution can be found without me having to drive, especially since if the problem is on my end, that trip would be a waste of time for both of us.

  • [Forum FAQ] Why can't I retrieve Free/Busy information

Free/Busy information is a feature of Microsoft Outlook that allows you to see when others are free or busy so that you can efficiently schedule meetings. You can use Microsoft Outlook to publish Free/Busy information to any server
your and your coworkers have read/write access to. However, in some cases you’ll notice that you can’t retrieve Free/Busy information correctly from Outlook. You can try the below methods to troubleshoot and get the Free/Busy information again.
Since most users who often use this feature are using Exchange, all the information in this content is only based on Exchange.
    General troubleshooting methods:
Method 1: Start Outlook using the ‘/cleanfreebusy’ command line switch
Method 2: Logon OWA to see if the Free/Busy information shows correctly
Method 3: Check the user’s Permission Level when only one user’s Free/Busy information can’t be displayed
    Other causes
Autodiscover has not been setup correctly
    Updates
Here are the detailed steps and explanation of each method and cause.
Method 1: Start Outlook using the ‘/cleanfreebusy’ command line switch
With the ‘/cleanfreebusy’ switch, it will clear and regenerate free/busy information when Outlook starts, sometimes this process fixes the problem that Free/Busy information doesn’t display correctly, and this is always the first thing we should try when
we can’t get the Free/Busy information from Outlook.
This switch can only be used when you are able to connect to your Microsoft Exchange server.
To start Outlook using the switch, we can press Win Key +
R to start Run, type ‘outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy’ in the blank box, then press
    Enter.
Please note since Outlook 2013 only uses the availability service which is connected to Autodiscover, the command line switch ‘/cleanfreebusy’ has been removed as well as the associated code so that Outlook 2013 will not recognize this
    command.
Method 2: Logon OWA to see if the Free/Busy information shows correctly
If you are using Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook and having trouble getting the Free/Busy information, please logon OWA, or switch to Online Mode to see if the Free/Busy information shows correctly.
If the Free/Busy information shows correctly on OWA or in Online Mode, this problem may be caused by the Outlook Data File(.ost) corruption, which leads to the sync failure. Therefore we should exist Outlook, browse to the Data File and rename it to “.old”.
The next time Outlook starts, it will regenerate a Data File to sync and we can check if the Free/Busy information can be retrieved.
The location of the Data File can be found from File tab ->
Account Settings -> Account Settings ->
Data Files tab. (Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013)
Or Tools menu -> Options ->
Mail Setup tab -> E-mail Account -> Account Settings window ->
    Data Files tab. (Outlook 2007)
If on OWA it displays fine but doesn’t show the information correctly in neither Cached Exchange Mode nor Online Mode, it may be caused by the firewall or anti-virus settings, disable them to verify if they caused the problem.
Method 3: Check the user’s Permission Level when only one user’s Free/Busy information can’t be displayed
When a user has set his Calendar Permission to None, other people will not be able to see his Free/Busy information. When we notice that we can get most people’s Free/Busy information but fail to get one specific person’s, please consider
    to check his Calendar Permission:
In that user’s Outlook, right click on his default Calendar, click Properties, select
    Permissions tab.
We need to at least switch the Permission to Free/Busy time to get his Free/Busy information correctly.
Other cause 1: Autodiscover has not been setup correctly
From Outlook 2007, Outlook uses Autodiscover to get the Free/Busy information. Once Autodiscover has not been configured properly, the Free/Busy information may not display correctly. If you are also seeing issues with Out of Office assistant, we may assume
that you haven’t correctly setup Autodiscover, since these two symptoms are common when Autodiscover is not configured correctly.
To verify that, please test Outlook Autodiscover Connectivity:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123573.aspx
We can also learn Configure Exchange Services for the Autodiscover Service from:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201695.aspx
Since Autodiscover Service is more Exchange related, we need to seek Exchange support and post the question in Exchange forum:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/home?category=exchangeserver
    Other cause 2: Updates
Although Updates from Microsoft do no harm to the system for most of the time, the updates sometimes can mess things up.
Outlook 2013 November 2013 security update once became the culprit that caused some users not able to retrieve Free/Busy information from calendar scheduling. This occurs because Autodiscover fails for Exchange 2007 configurations. So in fact, this also
refers to the previous reason, Autodiscover is corrupted.
The fix for the issue above has been released:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2850061/en-us
Once you have some issues after updating and doubt it’s an update issue, you can always come to our forum to ask if there’s a recent update which causes the problem, we will be happy to support you. If a fix hasn’t been released yet, we suggest you uninstall
the suspicious ones from Control Panel -> Programs and Features ->
View installed updates to verify which caused the problem, also as a workaround.
    Summary
The reason that we can’t get the correct Free/Busy information can vary. If you find it doesn’t work even after several general troubleshooting steps, please consider it’s Autodiscover related. For anyone who comes up against the issue that Free/Busy information
can’t be retrieved, please feel free to visit Outlook IT Pro Discussions from the URL:

  • Can you allow users to view a calendar without granting "Read - Full Details"?

    Outlook 2007, Exchange 2010
We would like users to be able to view Room calendars side by side in Outlook. Its fine if they can see basic details (subject, organizer), but we don't want them able open and read the meeting body.
Is it possible to have a side by side view without granting "Read - Full Details"?
    David.

    Hi David,
In Outlook 2007, "Free/Busy time, subject, location" permission only applies when checking the user's free/busy information and not when looking in another user's Calendar folder. In Outlook 2007, if you want to let the calendars be shown side
by side, you need to grant the user Folder Visible permission. But in this way, the user can read meeting details.

  • Free busy Issue

I recently setup a lion server and i imported calendar data,  user data via backup and restore,  and wikis via the wikiadmin script.  I am a linux admin mainly butcomfortable enough with macs.  Anyways i noticed that free-busy is not working with the users i imported but is working with newly created users.  I have searched the postgres database and the ldap directory for clues and i even found a resource_property xml entry about set free busy and another xml entry referring to transparent and so i manually entered them into the postgres database but it had no impact.
    Any ideas?

I have a very similar issue - the "Availability Check" for all users/locations/resources returns status "available" all the time, regardless of whether there is a conflict or not.
    10.7.3 on a MacMini5,2
    • OD Master
    • iCal
If a users checks their calendar using iCal client, it will show all appointments - it will also correctly show appointments for calendars that this users has read delegation on.  But with 100+ users there is a real need for users to be able to use the "check availability" tool in iCal client as opposed to trying to look at everybody's calendar individually.
I can post any logs/info you think will help, but I've not been able to find anything that even hints at anything wrong aside from a few entries in /Library/Logs/PostgreSQL.log
