Who is your ISP? Normally ISP's offer their subscribers a certain (smallish) amount of free ftp accessible web space. That would probably be your best bet, because others are unlikely to meet your criteria.
Or perhaps a school you have a relationship with.

[SOLVED] looking for lightweight free ftp program for KDE

im looking for a free ftp program, or an alternative good suggestion thats not free hehehe (i like cuteFTP for win) so i can download for my arch box? i would like to do some file exchange on my remote server periodically, and like to drag and drop, cut and paste, and navigate via file browser to make things go quicker. i have alot of files to move around.

kioslaves are cool. i guess they were working for me and i didnt even know it. i especially like the audiocd one. and thanks for pointing out that asset, i will refer to it more often now that i know about it, and learn how to maximize the use for them.
using dolphin, i was having some problems initially (nothing to do with standard ftp however) because the directory is actually a 'webprotect' directory, so is accessed by as http://user.domain.com/location i had to manipulate the url for a while to get it to load as ftp://domain.com/public_html/users/uname/location, infact i couldnt log in at all using my username, i had to log into the server as root using this method. this is because the webprotect uses .htaccess for permissions, so as accessed from ftp:// i believe the server doesnt use the permissions from the .htaccess. so thats one hitch when using a filebrowser such as dolphin.
COOLEST thing i found so far, using the file browser, it supports RESUME. wow. thats nice! saves teh file as .part, then suggests a resume when transfer senses the file already exists.
im SURE there is a way around this, ill just have to play with it for a while. because i dont want to be logging in as root, i want to utilise the subdomain that i created for users access on the website storage folders.

CAN I SAFELY download the free audacity library mp3 file (libmpslame.dylib) to my Macbook Air MAC OS X 10.6.8 through the audacity option button without crushing my computer?? Also (since my friend installed audacity I can only get out of it by force quitting. Am I doing something wrong?

I just had the same problem, I've updated to 10.6.8 yesterday, and since then the browsing are very slow, no matter what broswer I am using, the upload download speed are still the same. But browsing just take forever, It takes for example google.com 30 seconds to load. I have Extream high speed internet connection, 3 other computers, and the only one is having this problem is the Mac after the update.
Something in this update screwed my browsing capabitilties, I tried downloading Crome browser, same issue.
I hope there is a way beside TimeMachine to revert the latest update. I don't want to reformat as I am sure as soon as I am going to do the update it will cause the same problem.

Lookin' for good, easy and free FTP program. Can you help?

I could go searching for a good FTP program on Google but, I thought I just might ask here for people's experience when it comes to FTP programs for Mac.
I wonder if there is any good, easy and free FTP program out there I should go for?
I would really appreciate if you would give me the name and address of the program you recommend.

The only free FTP program for the Mac that I know of is Cyberduck, you can download it at http://cyberduck.ch/. I have used it and it works great. Fetch is probably the program that most Mac users are using for FTP uploads, but I think it costs around $15.00 after the demo period. Give them both a try and see witch one you like best.

Best (hopefully free) FTP program

Have iWeb and need an ftp to upload it to my site at register.com. I have seen a few threads with several names mentioned, and was wondering if there is a free ftp program out there for Mac.
All I need it for is to upload my web pages and that is it. Hence why I dont want to really buy a program, as I do not update the site that much.
Any help would be great.

Free and Best generally do not play well together
Do a google search or go to the Apple download page and search or version tracker or Mac Update - there are lots of self help sources for freeware & shareware information
I personally like Transmit and feel that it is worth the small price - Cute FTP and Fetch are good - I used to use them (Cute FTP may have been in PC days - not sure)

Panic Software has released complete with serial number as freeware its wonder Transmit FTP client, my favorite by far for its ease of use. Go to www.panic.com and search its downloads for Transmit. They also have released their Audion as freeware, another great program.
The other main FTP client and more is Interarchy, which also has released all its older versions as freeware. Interarchy provides lots of useful utilities in addition to doing FTP. www.interarchy.com

JNA: free DLL library resource

I'm using JNA to call native code from a DLL and I'm facing the following issue.
I have a RMI server which is accessed by several RMI clients. When a request arrives, the server loads the DLL, call the function and returns the result to the client. This works fine for the first request, but when a second client request the same function it gives me a trange error like:

If I wait enough time between two requests this problem does not occur. Therefore, I'm wondering if it is a problem of allocated ressources from my DLL. I wanted to try to explicilty free the resources taken by the library but I did not find any method to do this.
My DLL is loaded in the following way (using JNA):
myDll = (dllInterface) Native.loadLibrary("C:/test_temp/mydll", dllInterface.class);
Is there a way to do something like "freeLibrary(myDll)" ?
