Free LDAP server for Win32 to play?
Hi.. anybody know free LDAP server for Win32?
Thanks!
I found this:
http://www.eudora.com/free/ldap.html
Looks like you'll have to compile it yourself, though.
Actually, can't you access the Windows 2000 Active Directory through LDAP as well?

Free (java-based) LDAP server for Windows
Hello,
I am experimenting with JNDI. Can anyone tell me if there is a free LDAP server for Windows that I could use to run JNDI examples.
Thanks in advance,
Balteo.Attached is may slapd.conf file I used while I was working through the JNDI tutorial. You can find any comments in the original config file - I deleted them in the attachment.
Do not forget to create the directory 'openldap-ldbm' manually in the apropriate place as defined in the config file.

Using external LDAP server for WL JNDI lookups
I'm trying to find out if it is possible to re-direct JNDI calls to the WL
server to an external LDAP server. I know you can install an external LDAP
server for security purposes, but I would like to use an external LDAP
server to handle all JNDI lookups (like for JNDI EJB name location, etc.).
Is this possible?You typically need to use our JNDI store. We strongly recommend this for
performance reasons..
You can use the JNDI To LDAP bridge which is available from the sun web
site.

Use of Lotus LDAP server for WLP 7 - LDAP experts ?
Hi,
I'm looking for someone who has used the Lotus LDAP server for WLP7
authentication.
I connect my portal to the Domino LDAP, User and Groups are working
fine, but the membership of a user to a group is not.
I assume that it's related to the parameters I use (especially the
membership.filter ?):
"user.filter=(&(uid=%u)(objectclass=person));
user.dn=O=Apac;
membership.filter=(&(uniquemember=%M)(objectclass=groupOfNames));
group.filter=(&(cn=%g)(objectclass=groupOfNames));
server.host=jpgal01.apac.bea.com;
group.dn="
Any help would be appreciate, because I just don't where to look for.

Try setting the com.netscape.ldap.trace property.
\* When -D command line option is used, defining the property with
* no value will send the trace output to the standard error. If the
* value is defined, it is assumed to be the name of an output file.
* If the file name is prefixed with a '+' character, the file is
* opened in append mode.
This will create a ldap trace file of the requests that WLS is making on the
LDAP server. You can then see
where the filters are not returning the correct value for the group
membership. -

Need help setting up LDAP server for Address Book
I've set up Panther servers before for AFP which is pretty simple but now the office I work at wants me to setup an LDAP server so they can share the same contact information, probably about 2,000+ entries. I'm guessing that this will have to be entered in the LDAP server entry by entry.
I need to know how to setup the server and what settings need to be on the clients' computers, such as in Address Book.
The server is an older G4 tower and I've got 8 computers hooked up to it on a simple network. I don't think I'll need to make the LDAP server accessible from outside the network but it's something I'll have to worry about for the future.
Thanks for any help you can offer.bump

Authentication problem by external ldap server for WLS 7.0
Hi all,
I have configured iPlanet directory Server to serve as authentication security
provider for WLS 7.0.While doing so I have created a Test security realm and made
it as default.I have also configured the other default settings for the remaining
security providers for the realm.
Now, while I start the WLS with the default username and password, boot-error
comes as given below. As a matter of fact I have also created groups with relevant
username and pwd in the ldap server as specified bu the Bea documentation.
I have tried to remove the problem since last 4 days but all in fiasco.
If anybody has any pointer to the problem - it will be a great help.

Regards,
RitwikThanks Vijay - it has worked by creating the Administrator group in LDAP but Weblogic
documentation also states the creation of any group in Ldap server with the boot
username and pwd and then adding the group in the admin role of WLS7.0 - but this
did not work.
If there is any info regarding the same - pl. do let me know

Ritwik,
I think WebLogic 7 requires a group called "Administrators" in the LDAP
server
and requires an user to be added to that group. I have this working in
one of
my projects. The group really doesnt need to be an LDAP administrative
group.
Can you provide any additional information. I might be able to help since
I got
this working only a coupla days back.

Using CUCM as LDAP Server for Jabber Phone
Hi All,
I have CUCM 9.1 and Jabber 9.1 for android, I want to configure the Directory search with CUCM as LDAP server, when all the End User automatically added to directory search on the Jabber because we don't have any ldap server, but until now I always got Directory status Disconnected or Error.
Thing that I"ve done :
1. Cofigure the LDAP server on phone configuration with CUCM ip address.
2. FIll the Username and Password with CUCM Username and Password. (don't work)
3. Create new Application User with AXL API Access that used to be the LDAP Username and password (don't work)
does anyone have done this?or the connection with another LDAP Server is mandatory for jabber application? becaus I know some 3rd party application that can done this.
please help me with this problem, any help or comment will be grateful

Free SMTP server for Java mail testing
Hi all,
Are there any free SMTP servers that can be downloaded from the Net for Java mail. Thanks.
Regards
RamI am sorry ..may be my question was not very clear. I do not have am SMTP host. I need an SMTP host to route emails...is that possible.
If I have an SMTP host on my machine, then it will act as a router to route messages to other email severs like yahoo or hotmail.
So the "from" will be a user from the SMTP host.i.e my machine user and the "to" will be some email "[email protected]" or "[email protected]".
Is it posssible to route emails directly to any Yahoo or hotmail server using just java mail client?
Thanks

Free Drum Loops for you to play with
Hey all:
In the holiday spirit of giving back to the community, etc., etc., I thought maybe you all would enjoy some badass drum loops to play around with in Soundtrack Pro (my all-time favorite Apple program).
So here goes:
This is a zip file containing an array of drum loops with which to play around.
http://www.21ca.com/drums/FrankColeman-DrumLoops01-162bpm.zip (about 11MB)
They're at 162 bpm, but they'll survive having the tempo manipulated.
Here's volume 2:
http://www.21ca.com/drums/FrankColeman-DrumLoops02-136bpm.zip (about 20MB)
These were done at 136 BPM. A somewhat darker styling than the last batch, but you can manipulate them any which way, of course.
No effects added to any of these, so feel free to dirty them up any way you like.
This is my vintage chrome Slingerland kit, from a session last year. I did 11 tracks in 90 minutes, by myself, to a click, so there's lots more where this came from.
Well-recorded (at The Cutting Room Studios NYC) and tightly edited (by me), so they'll drop right into Soundtrack or any other loop-savvy program.
If you end up using them for something meaningful, all I ask is proper attribution and send me a copy. I'd be fascinated to hear what you come up with. More to follow.
Enjoy!
best,
FBC

- First, set up the project properly:
- In the top left hand panel, click on the Project tab. Scroll down within the Project pane and make the following selections:
Ruler Units: Beats
Tempo: whatever you like

From the View Menu, select Snap (should be checked).
- In the bottom right panel (Browser), navigate to the folder where the loops are saved.
- In the lower center pane, click on the "Bin" tab.
- Drag 'n' Drop the files from the Browser to the Bin. Now you can drag them from the bin to a Track and start playing around. Alternately, you can drag them from the Browser to a track and they will show up automatically in the Bin.

Last night, my Mac Mail app showed Optimum and gmail as offline and first I couldn't send any mail, then stopped receiving. Could sign in at Optimum server, but then that stopped responding. Was on the phone 4 hours, twice with Apple, twice with Optimum. Optimum maintained it was an Apple problem, but had me change my setup for mail in Mail App preferences on my Mac. Got it working and few mintues later out again. I called Apple again. We reset the preferences in mail app and agreed it was the Optimum Server causing problems.
This morning, I couldn't sign in to optimum webmail. Just testing it out, yet I could send mail from my mail apps, mobile and Mac. I didn't get mail that was sent to me last night but seems now it is working again and my preferences in Apple app, are as Apple set or reset them to work with Optimum.
Anyone else have this problem.Oh yes. Optimum ended by saying. Apple will have to create an App update to Mail to have things work right between them. I don't think so. Optimum's server wouldn't let me sign in this morning at all...even though I mostly use app not the server. Kept redirecting me to Sign-in page . Then an hour later, I could sign in with no problems.
Just be careful about having Optimum change too much over the phone in your Apple mail app preferences. I know Apple and I made a few with ports..and password dropdown. Optimum told me to set it to NONE for password, and that worked for a few minutes, then stopped. This is n Optimum issue , IMHO.
I trust Apple Express support more than I trust Optimum support. The second person I spoke to at Optimum said these complaints about Macs and Optimum and Mac mail app have just been coming in this week. They are aware of it, but I see this isn't the first time this has happened.
Also, since Optimum is still a POP3 server, my e-mails that I delete keep coming back for a few days, on my mobile devices. -

Format Of LDAP Server List for Netmail
Could anyone please explain what the format for using an ldap server for address lookups in Netmail. ie:
servername:port/searchbase or ldap://servername:port/searchbase. I have tried a few but can't seem to get it to work. Everytime I try to add a server to this list, the Java Netmail will not allow me compose a message.. anyone have any ideas..Chris -
Each entry is a comma separated list of name/value pairs in the following format: name="value". Quotation marks are not allowed in any value. The valid names and corresponding preference are:
name the user-friendly name for the server; this is what the user sees in the NetMail Address Search tab.
server the host name of the LDAP server. If a port is needed, use host:port.
base the search base expression, e.g., ou=People
searchin the list of attributes to search in, e.g., cn,givenname
result the attribute to use as the result, defaults to mail
filter additional search filters to be applied
referral whether or not to follow referrals, true or false
Only the server value is required, all others are filled in with defaults if necessary. A typical entry might be:
name="Company Address Book", server="ourldap.xyz.com", base="dc=xyz,dc=com"

Thanks in advance
GopalI don't see how "Find me a free LDAP server that runs on Windows 2000" qualifies as a Java programming question. And it took me less than a minute to find one via Google. So STFW.
