Free Replacement of QIP6200 and QIP6416 STBs

If you have a QIP6200 STB or QIP6416 DVR you may be eligble for a free replacement, depending on what TV programming package you have (and the programming package is not identified). QIP7xxx and Cisco boxes do not qualify for free replacement.
There is now a new option in the Menu on the STB about getting a free replacement for your old QIP6xxx boxes because Verizon is going to start delivering new HD channels using a technology that the 6xxx boxes do not support. You can find information here:
Menu ==> Customer Support ==> In-Home Agent ==> Set Top Box Exchange
In the text displayed there is a tiny bit of info and a test to see if any of your STBs qualify, but it also tells you to go to:
Menu ==> Customer Support ==> Help Topics ==> Set Top Box Exchange
Where there are a lot of questions and answers. One of the answers says that if you try to tune one of the affected channels with a QIP6xxx box you will be notified at that point that you can get a free replacement. But again, the affected programming package is not identified, it may be something that very few poeple have, I have no idea.
I encourage you to go there and check to see if you can get a replacement DVR, the 6416 DVR especially is a dog with IMG 1.9. Note that you will lose any recordings you have on your existing DVR if you do the exchange, but I believe you will find any replacement DVR to be a big improvement over the 6416.

Justin, I haven't heard anything from Verizon either, but it's been all over DSL Reports (see http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27043947-MLB-Extra-Innings-HD-channels), Be patient when you read the thread -- MP4 isn't mentioned for quite a few pages as I recall.
Oh yeah, I also saw it there. But I take a lot of the stuff I see there with many grains of salt, even stuff from Matt has been wrong in the past, and he claims to have very reliable contacts and inside info.
If that is what it is, and I have absolutely no reason or facts to doubt it, why in the world didn't Verizon say that up front in the text on the STBs? It would make things much clearer. And if this is just the first step they could say that also. It is totally mystifying to me why Verizon feels the need to be so secretive and vague in their announcements; I do understand why they want to keep future stuff hidden, but they really, really need to learn to tell the whole story when they make an annoucement, they are just hurting themselves and look stupid for no good reason.
I appreciate your input also. If I could I would go back and edit my original post to add the MLB Extra Innings info but I can't, fortunately UnnDunn's post is right after mine to clarify.

  • Free replacement for charger and headphones?

My apple charger and headphones don't work anymore and I was wondering if apple would give me a free replacement for my charger and headphones?

They are covered by the same 1-year warranty that covers the iPod. If defective and not abused Apple will exchange them at no cost. I think when you say charger yo mean cable since the iPod does not come with a wall charger
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My ipad mini charger end has snapped and I am wondering if I could get a free replacement?

The little white bit at the end is still together but the charging bit has snapped and fallen out and I am just asking if I could get a free replacement???

oh ok thanks for the replly, although i threw it in the bin as i thought that apple wouldnt give me a replacement anyway as it would be classed as abuse due to the fact it was knocked of the side of my desk meaning the charging end actually got stuck in the ipad, however i managed to get it out. thanks for the advice though i really appreciate it x

  • To get free replacement+rainbow and faded screen

How do i get a free replacement? Any criteria?
I droppped my ipod touch 4G and now there is a greyish black semi circle with a rainbow edge. Also screen is faded. Would apple fix this in store? Ive made an appointment for genius bar btw. Thanks (((:

Sorry, but even if your warranty is still valid, accidental damage is not covered.  You're gonna have to pay...  Apple does not repari while you wait.  You give them money and your busted iPod, Apple gives you a refurbished device...

  • Hardware issues on iPhone that would qualify for a free replacement under the warranty, however I recently accidentally damaged the digitizer and now need to pay £177 to get it repaired just for them to send me a replacement phone anyway!

Okay here is my problem: I bought an iPhone 5c about two months ago, and recently knocked it in my pocket and damaged the digitiser – although not the glass, but it is currently unusable. However before that it started really playing up.
Primarily, it stopped being able to tell the time – which does not sound like a big issue, but is in fact a real pain as it throws out all my real-time apps, as well as making all my messages come through completely out of sync with each other. The time just seems to have slowed down, no matter if it is on ‘Set Time Automatically’ or ‘Set Time Manually’ – in half an hour it normally only forwards two or three minutes. Then the Bluetooth would not work, and then the same with the wifi – they just sat there with the turning on icon staying on and not changing. The next thing that happened was that my messages that I’d sent to people would occasionally send to other contacts over imessage completely randomly without me doing anything!
I know these are hardware issues and covered by Apple’s warranty, and they would replace my iPhone if those were the only problems, but as the digitiser is cracked I have to pay £177 pounds before they will even look at it to replace the glass, and that is just so I can send it off again afterwards for them just to give me a fresh phone anyway!
It is also not an option to do a self repair or go to a phone doctor as both of these will use non-apple parts, and void my warranty.
I really am stuck as I don’t have that kind of money for a repair at the moment, and still feel like it would be a complete waste of time for a phone that is currently not working anyway that they would just replace. Is there anything I can do?

"Is there anything I can do?"
Yes, you can exchange the handset for a refurbished out-of-warranty product for £216.44 (includes shipping + VAT).  Treat your objects like women - with love, and respect.

  • Excise invoice during free replacement

Our business is Distribution. we get orders frm customer for that order we place PO to vendor and we sale it to customer. some times if the goods is damaged the customer will ask for Free replacement. That time from our stock we use to send the material to customer and get it replaced by our vendor. The issue is excise invoice. Our Vendor does not give Excise invoice at the time of free replacement.  But we have replaced to customer from our stock. We tried using a free replacement invoice and using the same excise to take the stock into sap using 511 movement. But, the issue is that cost impact in finance is missing. Could you please suggest an alternative method?

    HI
Kindly check the below 2 links which give better explanation how to handle free of charge delivery in excise point of view and how ti handle the those damaged material

  • My computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings and even went to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple

my computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings, all of their diagnostics, and they even sent it to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple, especially iPhoto which is seems to refuse to load and then begins freezing up all over again. Anyone else have this problem. Other than this, I have had absolutely no problems with this computer. Now, it's a file of junk.

    Hi Ronald ...
Have you checked lately to see how much free space there is on the disk? Especially since iPhoto freezes at launch ...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
And make sure the OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click:   Software Update
If you have anti virus software installed or are using third party Mac cleaning utiliites, that may be part and parcel of the your problems.

  • Why can't I get a free replacement for my iPad cracked screen? This is however not the case for others???

My friend dropped my sling bag which contained my 3rd gen iPad.Only when I reached home 30 mins later, then did I realise the LCD screen was cracked. This is the second time my iPad screen has cracked. The first time round,my father dropped it thanks to the smart over that snapped,so he got it replaced, external help though. This time,I searched the net only to find out Apple actually replaces iPad,be sure to type "iPad screen crack" on google and the first few links is it.So I contacted Apple, only to find out I have to pay a replacement fee,and a fe replacement is not allowed. Why is this so?Other users have too accidentally got their iPad screen cracked but still received a FREE replacement, but it has to be that few who can't get a free replacement.Shouldn't Apple have a uniform way of doing things?

Accidents happen, and apple can certainly assist you with replacement of said device.  Most manufacters would tell you to buy a brand new retail unit, apple will charge you about half price for a replacement unit.  I agree its unfortunate that it happend, but expecting a free replacement is just going to lead to disappointment

  • Can i get a free replacement for the screen of my ipod touch 4th gen if i go to apple store even though i bought my ipod in futureshop?

I just drop my ipod touch 4th gen and the screen was crashed.. I am wondering if a get a free replacement in the apple store even though i bought my ipod in futureshop?

Dropping your iPod s not coverd by the warranty. You'll have to pay for the refurbished device:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
Apple - Support - Service Answer Center
Out-of-Warranty Service: If your iPod requires service for any other hardware failure that is determined by Apple to be repairable, Apple will service your iPod for the Out-of-Warranty Repair Service fee.
If you want to set up your iPod for the Out-of-warranty service, we recommend that you take your iPod to a local Apple Retail Store. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Technical Support.
For more details, please refer to the Repair Pricing tab on the left.

  • Does Apple still do free replacement cases for Macbooks

    Hi
I have a White Macbook (early 2009) model and its starting to crack and break around the screen bezel and keyboard. I have heard that Apple were aware of this problem and was offering free replacement parts for affected Macbooks. Is this still the case and if so what is the process of booking in my Macbook for repairs.
    Many thanks
    Flattgee

See this page for the answer to your question. If you are outside of the two year limit (from your date of purchase) call Apple at the appropriate phone number on this page and ask for an exception. No guarantees on whether they will do it or not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
    Best of luck.

  • RESULT - Free Replacement Battery from Apple UK

    Hi to All,
Like a lot of you I had problems with my battery. I noticed earlier this year my MBP would power-off when there was still lots of battery charge left. It gradually got worse and worse. A few months ago I noticed whenever I pulled the power cord out it would switch off and recently I can only use it when it's plugged in.
I read about the battery problems online, and on this forum. I discovered it was a very common problem. I had assumed there was nothing I could do other than buy a new battery, but after reading posts from some of you who have had success getting a replacement one I thought I'd call Apple. Nothing to lose other than cost of phone call. To be honest I wasn't expecting to get any joy as I bought my MBP in May 2006.
I spoke to a overly-friendly guy in Bangalore who kept saying "Don't worry, don't worry. I will sort this out for you". He took my details and serial number etc.. then kept putting me on hold as he spoke to his 'supervisor'. After 15 mins he explained that my battery's serial no. is one that qualified for the replacement programme - but that only applied up to 2 years after purchase. As mine is 30 months old, he had to do some arm twisting and they made an exception for me. He transferred me to a woman in Scotland who gave me a case number etc.. She then passed me onto a dispatch guy.
After 20 mins on the phone my free replacement battery is on it's way. Not sure if I've just been very lucky on this occasion, but I would recommend calling Apple Support wherever you are, before going ahead and forking out for a new battery.

Hmm... Newer Technologies' reseller list includes OWC/esales but they
are not the same; one is a reseller and the other is a manufacturer. A
few product names at OWC are not seen anywhere else unless you look
real hard, but Newer Tech and NuPower can be bought direct from Newer
Technologies online; and a reseller could contact them to carry their stuff.
In any event, if just the plastic is mal-formed, and the section not fitting up
is just a layer of white plastic, that'd be comparatively easy to change. If
nothing else, Apple should have a shorter waiting list on replacement cells
now the recall numbers have been going out to customers. I got mine after
about a two month wait; and after all that waiting, I've gotten over the need
    to use a portable computer. It just sits there and I have to hassle with it;
to keep it charged up and up to date. With winter here, I don't carry it while
travelling anywhere, it'd freeze too easily over the distances I have to go!
Did Newer Tech offer to refund monies and take back these odd batteries?
Have you contacted other battery sales sources for comparative products?
The quality and support plus warranty (and fit, finish, compatibility)
    are all important details.
Some cheap replacements could be dangerous and not suited for use in
the iBook or PowerBook they are intended to replace. I see some at
places like amazon afiliate stores, and wonder what they really are inside.

  • Lost my Iphone 5 headphones, free replacement?

No. If you want new headphones, you'll have to purchase them...no appointment needed. Just go to a store & buy them.

  • Dead iTouch? Free replacement?

My 4th gen Itouch died on me a month or two ago, and I have just now been able to do something about it. It won't connect to a computer, charge, or power on. Prior to it dying on me it would take a day or two to get 100% charge, then it would lose all power after 10 minutes of use.  I am way out of warranty because I bought it a week or two after it was originally released, and didn't get the extended warranty.  If it means anything I got it from bestbuy. Do you think I can get a free replacement or repair?  I plan on getting the 5th generation but I would like to have a 4g until xmas when I would get it.     Thanks.

"Do you think I can get a free replacement or repair?  "
    Of course not.
    Sorry

  • Replacement ipod skipping and pausing songs

    Hi,
I paid to have my replaced in january as I had smashed the screen and it was out of warranty but now the replacement continually skips and pauses songs and activates voice control while it is locked. According to apple this new ipod is not under warranty so i would have to pay to get it sent in for repair. I'm currently living in Austria where Apple stores aren't easily accessible so I can't just take it in...Any ideas?

Does Apple provide a warranty on my replacement iPod?
If Apple provides service under warranty, the terms of the warranty and applicable provisions of law will cover defects in materials and workmanship that arise during the remaining warranty or 90 days after iPod service, whichever provides longer coverage for you. If iPod service is provided outside of warranty, Apple warrants that the replacement iPod will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the replacement ship date.
